[Q] from android revolution 3.0 to 3.1 - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, first I would like to thank everyone on the forum for the awesome job. Especially those of you who took the time to make great guides for nb like me.
I updated my dhd to android revolution 3.0 and I was wondering. If I want to update to 3.1. Can I flash the rom again directly with a full wipe or do I have to downgrade first ? (because now my build is 1.84.61.2)
thank

You can flash it directly, you have root and S-OFF, you won't need to do that again.
By the way, if you have used ARHD 3.0 without any issues, you can flash 3.1 (or 3.2 which is out now) without a full wipe (although they say it's recommended). This way all your settings will remain.
You should check the ARHD thread to see that you have the recommended radio for 3.2 (it's working really well for me, I'm getting HSDPA on my commute to work instead of switching between EDGE and 3G like before).
Edit: Remember to always do a nandroid backup before flashing, so you always have something stable to revert to in the case of a bootloop or other malfunction.

thank yazayad I will do that

[Q] Q-upgrading Leedroid ROM

I have a few questions about upgrading my ROM:
I have Leedroid 1.9 on my HTC Desire and I'm considering upgrading to a newer ROM.
1) Will I lose my settings and data if I do? Or does upgrading my ROM (lets say to Leedroid 2.3) leave my settings, data, apps intact?
2) Is it worth upgrading to a newer ROM or is there little difference between 1.9 and the latest ones?
Thanks in advance for clarification!
1) What kind of data and settings are we talking about here? Apps? In any case, you can probably use Titanium Backup. Just be sure to read what is safe to backup and be reapplied, and what is not.
2) Your best bet would be to check of the changelog posted by the dev. Plenty of things would have changed over time (from 1.9 to 2.3, especially considering all the mini versions - 2.1a, b , c , etc), including more updated system apps, kernels and the sort. You can also check on the main LeeDroid thread to see what the users have been saying about the latest version, and see if it is fine and dandy for stable use.

The newer ROMS will have all the latest updates/fixes - the LeeDroid 2.3 ROM is looking good (but hold fire as allegedly there is a 2.3c due soon).
Might be best to install with a full wipe - you can always use Titanium to backup apps and many of your settings .....
Either that or do a Nandroid backup first and then try an install with no wipe .....

[Q] Updating a rom

I flashed over my first rom today and after a couple of mishaps I was running Incredibly Re-Engineered v2.2. Unfortunately I later realized that 2.3.1 was out and I somehow didn't see it. I was wondering if i could update to 2.3.1 without doing a full wipe or if it was needed. I was mainly wondering for future updates because I prefer not redownloading apps and redoing all my settings if possible. Sorry for the incredibly noobish question. Thanks
The IncReEngineered thread should have the direct answer to your question in the change log that annotates differences between versions.
Said another way, if there is no material difference between 2.3 and 2.31, you should be fine flashing it over 2.3.
Make a backup of your working 2.3 setup before you flash so if it goes south on you, a recoverable working ROM is there for you to flash.
They are the same Version Roms. 2.3.1 is 2.3 made compatible with the new clockwork mod. There is NO reason to flash.

[Q] Root lost after flashing RCMix 6.0.0

Hi,
I flashed 6.0.0 RCMix rom, and since then, I've lost super user rights.
setCPU won't work, nor will clockworkmod.
And, from looking at the RCMix thread, I seem to be the only one with this problem.
I've flashed a lot of roms in my days, and this is the first time this happens.
Did wipe and backup from CWM, so that might have been the problem, but how do I get root access back?
Thanks!
You're not the only one, read forward from this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13344640#post13344640. Flashing the newerst version might also help.
I just did, and now it's back!
Fantastic. Now the rom really is the best I've used.
Thanks Hawks!

Hello!
Dear members. I have a Galaxy Nexus and wanted to know to to upgrade a custom rom (Codename Android) from version 3.5 to the latest version 3.6 without having to wipe all settings and apps (no update option is available within their rom). And if it is possible.
Also to mention, I tryed flashing on the other one without wiping and there were problems.
I'm a neewbie at advanced rom settings..so..
Any help is appreciated.

unfortunately, no there really isn't - i mean you're welcome to try "dirty flashing" a rom update, some people say it works fine, and some run into problems though most times people won't help you if you have problems if you did because data gets jumbled up sometimes, particularly when the developer themselves recommends that you do a full wipe before flashing.
I was running 3.5 and 3.6 of Codename's rom, and i think they said that since it's a new android version in 3.6 it's especially important to do a full wipe and "clean install" before moving onto the update.

yeah, don't even know if it's that necessary because small things changed from 3.5 to 3.6.

Most Stable JB ROM for One X

Hi All,
I rooted my One X a couple of months ago and have been using the CM11 ROM. And have been fighting the issues that came with it. With just stability in mind, I have been for the last few days trying to go back to stock and update to the OTA for Jelly bean. But after figuring out the right RUU.exe file with respect to my CID, I have been having troubles with completing the installation process where the RUU.exe fails due to compatibility issues with my bootloader version.
I dont want to keep messing around with my phone anymore and have decided to simply instal the most stable jelly bean ROM. I would prefer the to use a original HTC OTA version. But then I always run in to issues installing it. I have so many versions of it downloaded and tried that I am tired of it quite frankly.
Could you folks suggest the best way out?
Many thanks!

Thank you guys.
I was finally able to flash ARHD (the odexed version) from here. But there were some unclear instructions on the wipe data (AROMA) in the description by ARHD team. And the phone was simply in boot loop after I flashed the ROM.
So I applied the process from my last experience with CM11:
- and went back to recovery
- wiped factory data
- then wiped Delavik Cache
- and rebooted.
And it all worked like a charm. But in the ROM pack the superuser binary didn't work as normal. So was not able to use Titanium backup to retrieve my backed up files. So I read up a bit more and found the latest SuperSU.zip file and manually flashed via CWM recovery. And now I have superuser access and have been able to make everything work fine.
However, the OTA system update doesnt allow me to carry out a system update. Saying the copy of the ROM is not the regular one and I must reach out to HTC support for help. Guessing that's just normal as this is a custom ROM.
Well, apart from that all's good for now.
Hopefully the above will be helpful to others that decide to flash their One X with a latest Jelly Bean update.
