[Q] Root lost after flashing RCMix 6.0.0 - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I flashed 6.0.0 RCMix rom, and since then, I've lost super user rights.
setCPU won't work, nor will clockworkmod.
And, from looking at the RCMix thread, I seem to be the only one with this problem.
I've flashed a lot of roms in my days, and this is the first time this happens.
Did wipe and backup from CWM, so that might have been the problem, but how do I get root access back?
Thanks!

You're not the only one, read forward from this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13344640#post13344640. Flashing the newerst version might also help.

I just did, and now it's back!
Fantastic. Now the rom really is the best I've used.
Thanks Hawks!

[Q] HTC Wildfire (Buzz): What is the best custom ROM for this device?

Hi people,
I'm pretty new at this, altough this device is my second android smartphone. My first was an LG GW620(rooted and cyanogenmod) now I have the Wildfire (already rooted).
Before I will use custom roms I would love to ask you some questions, because I had a lot of problems with the cyanogen mod on my LG. (Radio FM didn't work, bluetooth, camera, ect..)
Wile rooting my Wildfire, I did a backup with the Clockworkmod Recovery (nandroid I presume) but I am a bit of a noob when it's about backing up and "restoring" it to the same state as before the custom ROM. So I would like to know if indeed I can restore it to the same state (rooted, Android 2.2.1, software 2.22.405.1) and how axactly to do that?
Also, will I have the same problems again with the cyanogen MOD like before?
And last but not least :
What is the current best suited custom ROM to use on this device (hopefully bug-free ^_^) ?
(I did a search and found an old thread (2010) asking for the best rom suitable for the wildfire, so I wanted to create a new one)
Thank you for your help and your input!
With regards, xXxeXtreme
PS.: Sorry for any spellingerrors, still need to install an english spellcheck on this b0x :>
...I'll do that right away ;-)
/ Not 1 more thread like this. Sigh
Anyways, the answer depends on whether you like HTC Sense or not. If you can answer this with 100% surety, you can choose your Custom ROM more easily. CM7 for the Wildfire has come a long way from CM6, and, doesn't have the problems you listed. (FM Works, Cam works, Video Recording works, BT works - BUT, with an additional app called Bluetooth File Transfer installed, else, it may cause issues)
If you cannot live without Sense and its apps (Like Contacts and Dialer), then look at Sense based ROMs like JokerDroid, WildPuzzle, DK Custom ROM etc.
The entire listing can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
There is no definitive answer to what is the best ROM. Every member will have their own opinion, based on what suits them. No ROM is 'universally' good. Infact, many have given up root and gone back to the Stock ROM, because that is what suited them ultimately.
Nandroid Restores can be done from the same menu where you backed up. When you backed up, you must have noticed another option called "Restore". Nandroid Backups are restored from there. Make sure that you do NOT rename the backup folder on your SDCard, nor move it to any other location.
Wow, that was fast thanks for the reply.
I did notice the restore option, but I wanted to be 100% sure that that would indeed revert things to its stock state. And although the Sense is great, fast and ...
I do long for the CyanogenMod's hugely configuration options. So I think I will go for that.
I'll let you guys know how it turned out
Greetz,
xXx
Hmmm... I installed ROM Manager premium and through there I downloaded the CyanogenMOD 7.1.0-RC1, wiped the Dalvik cache and installed it.
When it tried booting, it looked like it got stuck in an boot-loop, it froze and booted again, over and over again.
I'm now trying to restore my last backup, hopefully it will work.
Any ideas? Has this happened to anyone?
Grtz,
xXx
EDIT: I thought of something, I wanted to keep my apps, contacts, ect.. so I 'only' wiped the dalvik cache, nothing else.
Could this be what caused the boot-loop?
EDIT2: Ooooh yes, the ROM Manager premium did a complete backup, and my is back just like it was when I backupped YIIHAAAA (...yeah, I was a bit affraid there ^_^ )
Strange thing though, when I started the phone with volume-down, power button, then did a backup from there, it did'nt backup data and all. only the system. How does that come? (PS.: I used revolutionary to S-Off)
EDIT3: Yups; that did the trick. Wiping all of the data before flashing the mod was what I did wrong. Now it boots up perfectly
It's necessary to perform a full wipe before installing a new ROM. (Not applicable for updates to an existing ROM, like CM RC1 to a new nightly). Else, you are going to end up in a bootloop.
best rom hhhmmmmm ?
No one can tell you whits is the best rom. It is up to you. Whits phone is the best ????
I use hell fire and love it. It is smoot easy and beautyfull. I have not found anything whits not function. Then it maybe should bee me. But no rom can change that.
If you looking for the orginal rom to buzz (wildfire) look here. Here is a gooooood webpage.
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...5.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe
You can find a lot of orginal roms here with a lot of language.
I my self is pretty new to this game. But I have just boyed a cheep phone and start playing. It is a nice and safe way to learn.
I have tryed a lot of the roms and found that if you take your time and let the phone rest in peas wheil it work nothing gos wrong. As the guy up mention wipe everything before flash. Take your time and maybe a cup of coffe and you are playing the best computergame ever.
Have a nice time with the nerves on edge.

[Q] I stuffed up. What do I do?

Hi, first time posting here.
I have a bit of a unique problem or so I've heard. So I was an idiot and decided to flash a Virtuous ROM over the WiFi via ROM Manager on my Desire Z. Previous to this it was rooted and was running CM 7.1 RC1 and was all fine. When I flashed the Virtuous Sense Rom (Not unity, the one before it in ROM Manager), it flashed, what I thought was fine. However, when I actually got into the phone, it said everything was crashing and would go into a boot cycle. Then for some stupid reason I just reflashed the 1.3.4 or whatever ROM back onto (The one you're meant to downgrade to). At this moment in time, I can't do anything. When I'm in the bootloader of the phone itself, I can't scroll up or down to the recovery option, so I can't flash through that. I've tried re-rooting the phone (Or that process), hoping that it would work. At this point in time, it keeps popping up errors at /data/local/tmp/psneuter
Note: I was following the CM7 rooting guide thing.
Anyway, I hope someone'll be able to help me out of this stupid stupid thing that I've done.
THanks!
EDIT: Okay, well, going through the CM7 rooting guide a fourth time seems to have fixed it. It's all fine now. On another note, how do you change the Virtuous Unity lock screen to something else? I'm not really a fan of the Sense 3.0 lockscreen.
You should not need to re-root after flashing any custom ROMs.
Also, I would not do any more ROM flashing if clockworkmod is not properly installed, or you don't know how to use it.
Did you bother to wipe data and cache? You didn't mention it. If you didn't that's your problem

[Q] Updating Android Revolution HD

Hi,
I am currently running Android Revolution HD 5.1.7 on my DHD
I was just wondering with the new 6.1.1 version out, to upgrade to it,
do I simply download the file and just flash that to the device or must I first wipe my device? Or some other way?
Thanks for any help!
P.s Really sorry if this has already been asked but I had a quick search and couldn't see anything to this specific situation!
Back up all your data then flash the superwipe script, then flash the ROM, restore data
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using Tapatalk
Thanks alot,
Also once I have flashed the rom to the phone,
Can I remove the file from my SD Card to free up some space?
Its something I have been unsure about from the first time I flashed my phone,
But I should imagine you can??
**UPDATE**
I have succesfully installed Android Revolution HD 6.1.1
But I am getting an awful lot of Force Closes now,
1 in particularly when i try to go on "People" (contacts) it instantly force closes!
Another is SuperUser, and there are a few more than insantly FC as soon as I try to Open them!

1. You can but I would recommend that you keep a copy of a stable ROM on your sd card just in case you have to reinstall for some reason.
2. It seems like the ROM is corrupted.
Did you superwipe before you installed the ROM?
If you have:Check the md5 checksum of the rom you downloaded. It should be the same as the one posted under the ROM download link in the ARHD thread. If its the same you can try superwiping and reinstalling the rom.
If you havent: Download the superwipe script from the first page in the ARHD thread, superwipe and reinstall the ROM.
Also make sure to backup your phone data before superwiping because everything will be lost. Also don't install any mods untill your device has completed the first boot after installing the ROM.
to be honest i had issues with arhd 6.1.1 when i flashed it too. not the same as yours but constant. not everybody seems to have them though and others say it has something to do with the overclock daemon. i believe there´s a patch for it though on the 6.1.1 developers thread.
i didnt bother though i just moved on to virtuous unity 2.39 and have had no problems, really smooth sense 3.0 rom. i´ve been planning to try out a non sense rom next but i really like this rom so i´ve been putting it off for a while now. i even put the beats audio patch on it a few days ago and i gotta say its pretty good even on stock htc headphones
planing to update to arhd6.1.1 too, but have ardh3.3 and clockwork 3.0.0.6. which clockwork is ok (mean which of the newest)?
I did use superwipe and i checked the md5 and it was all good!
I re-flashed the rom and now its ok
I have found out what was causing it!
It starts happening again every time I install google+ 2.0
The new version of the app that has recently been leaked on androidpolice
(Would include a link but im not allowed yet)
And the reason it did it straight from the start the first time is because, before
doing anything else, I restored all my app via Titanium Backup!
If anyone else has this issue or could try to install the app and see if it happens
to them or could figure out how to fix it, it would be great!
(Don't worry about installing it, uninstalling it stop the force closes straight away)
did you try just restoring just the app, but clean without the user data. i did that first time i flashed a rom and it caused all sorts of problems. so i reflashed and restored the apps one by one but just the app, no user data, and stopped having problems

Hi,
My first post
Any idea does this superwiper clean the radio as well? Does the order matter - first wipe, then rom and finally radio?

Superwipe doesn't effect the radio, and yeah that order you said is the way I went about it, but I also think you can do radio before rom too!
Update from 5.1 to 6.1
Maybe I haven't looked hard enough or maybe I am simply too tired...
Are there any specific steps from updating ARHD from 5.1 to 6.1? I can't seem to find any info about it.
Also, flashing the 6.1 over the 5.1 will it reset the way my screens/widgets are set while on 5.1?
Thanks.

Advice/info... new to htc incredible

I just got my hands on the dinc. I am coming from a rooted D1. Unforuntulny the dinc has been updated and has s-on..
even searched for s-on Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms. I love it lol...
Anyways, if i have read correctly if s-on is enabled, I am just SOL in rooting my phone and using custom roms, themes etc till someone finds a workaround , correct?
Also all my game and app data on my d1, anyway to move it over to the dinc?
Updated to GB 2.3.4 and S-On? If so, I found THIS thread a few days ago that seems to be working. Before you do any of that..make sure your SD card is formatted to FAT32.
Apps yes...you can move those over to your Inc. Data would not be a good idea. The data is from a totally different phone so you would cause a lot of issues by doing restoring any app data. My friend who moved on to an Inc from a DX tried to do it and got FC's all over the place.
Good luck and enjoy your new phone!

I looked that over and it looked like it should get you back to s-off, rooted froyo. It's a LOT like the method jcase developed for the Tbolt before Revolutionary. If you can get s-off, you're good to go. Flash a custom recovery and flash a rooted ROM. Should be that simple.
thanks for the info!
Yeah, that thread works.
Thanks again guys, i got it to work last night.. Now i just need to decide on a rom? Any suggestions? I loved chevyNo1 on D1 :/
Your going to love the incredible compared to the og droid, everything is so much snappier, and battery life will increase too.
I'm not a sense guy at all but McD's ROMS are super nice.
I really liked chevy's ROMs too. CM7.1 stable and the latest incredikernel on 10/12 by Tiny will get you started in the right direction if you want to stick with AOSP or if you want something more barebones grab IncDeck 1.3 Final... I just went back to CM7.1 because I felt I got a little better batterylife.
Will give them a try. I did download cm7.1 and on re boot after install it gets stuck on the boot loader. Do I need to do a complete wipe or something ?

Yeah, complete wipe is recommended if you're not coming from an earlier CM7.

Ok I'm a little rusty cause on the d1 I never had to wipe.. in the Rom manager just select clear and wipe and that should do the trick ? I got my games backed up so that isn't a issue. But all settings and such will be lost ,correct?
Thanks

Personally, I never use Rom Manager. I flash through recovery; if you use Rom Manager to reboot into recovery, do a factory reset from there and then flash and you should be good.
Ok cool.. thanks for the quick replies.
McD's ROMS i havent seen any of those. I loaded CM7.1 Very simliar to chevyno1's rom.. Trying something different, miui right now, its not bad, reminds me of the iphone though.. Any other suggestions?
I strongly recommend against ROM manager, too. Any dev worth his salt tends to recommend against flashing through ROM Manager because it doesn't seem to do what it's supposed to. It's been a problem child for a long time now. When performing functions done through recovery, it's best to go directly into recovery to perform them. I think the same can be said for the bootloader.
Sorry i meant clockwork, dont know why i keep on saying rom manager. Can anyone help me with roms or should i post a new post on it?
I kind of dig miui but dont like the sms keyboard layout. Its like cm7 and i really like the stock dinc set up. With my big fingers i get less typos with its set up.. Any suggestions?
Here is a list of Dinc ROMs. I personally recommend CM7, but if you like HTC Sense, go for Runny Revolution 3D. Great Sense ROM.

[Q] New user with ILWT rom questions

Hey guys, I just rooted my DZ and now I’m ready to switch to a custom rom (I’m currently on stock 2.2 sense rom). After doing some reading I think I want ILWT. As I have never done this before I would feel more comfortable knowing what I’m doing rather that regretting something latter. So here goes
First of all, if I first wipe data/cache with superwipeG2 and do a nandroid backup, will the backed up rom work after restore? (I would like to back up the stock rom, without the apps I installed).
Second, I know I need to wipe everything with superwipeG2 before going to ILWT, but should I also do a factory reset?
The most important thing is will ILWT run ok without eng-hboot, as I did not flash it during rooting (I didn’t feel comfortable with that)? From what I understand ILWT will automatically flash a new kernel with all kinds of goodies? I don’t need a super extra fast rom, I just want it to be reasonably stable so I’m guessing I’ll go with ILWT kernel. Also, how wide spread are the GPS issues, does everyone suffer from it or it just happens to some people?
So what do you think about my choice and is there anything else I should know before I proceed? All your answers would be much appreciated, thanks
ILWT is the best and stable ROM if you ask me. I just recently left it to play with the ICS ROMs floating around. I had no issues with the GPS while I ran ILWT. I have GPS issues now with the ICS ROMs, but I expected that. I would flash the hboot if I were you. While it seems intimidating, it actually isn't and very easy to do as long as you follow all the instructions on the rooting guide.
I didn't do a factory reset, but I did do a superwipe and wiped cache/data/davlik just to be safe.
As far as the OEM ROM goes, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1442988 is a GREAT resource to go back to OEM specs and has a nifty directory with all the official OEM ROMs.
Hope this helps a bit. I'm also a noob at this ROM thing and have learned a ton while reading all the info on this forum.
ILWT is the best in stability and speed, and it is a super extra fast rom
i think superwipeG2+ will wipe your /system partition too, which contains the rom, so if you super wipe, then backup, you won't be backing up anything... maybe
what i'll doo is just wipe data/factory reset and then flash ILWT, and then reboot... that's it
Thanks for the advice guys. I’ll flash the rom first thing in the morning

No prob... I'm happy to help
———————————————
i didn't mean to flame you, nor to mock you in any kind of way
If you want a nandroid of your current rom without the apps and such just do a factory reset before you do the nandroid. Of course this may be silly for you would have the same affect as just flashing the rom later. Get an engineering hboot, well worth it. Then do a superwipe (I also wipe everythin else cause I'm a little ocd, even fastboot -w) and then flash away. Remeber when you have a rom the way you like it, even a week or more for now, do a backup and then if you screw up in the future you'll be saved
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
ILWT is about as fast and stable as they come. If you are used to Sense, and like things such as the Sense widgets and camera, you may miss them. Otherwise, ILWT is one of the best out there, and you will not be disappointed.
Anyway, if you make a nandroid, you can always go back if you don't like ILWT (or any other ROM for that matter). Nandroid is pretty awesome, as it will restore the complete image of the system when you backed up, with apps and data intact, just as you left it before flashing the new ROM.
I'd say the GPS issue only happens to a small minority of people on ILWT and other versions of CM7. I didn't have the issue with the GPS not connecting at all, but apparently some people do. And its an issue that has popped up for some people from time to time, on various CM7 builds in the past. I did have an issue with GPS fix being slower than on stock Sense (maybe 2 minutes versus 5-10 seconds), and the following fix did the trick, and got me consistent GPS fix in seconds:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472870
At least one user used the same to fix his issue of no GPS fix, after I suggested it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1616627
Again, thank you all for your help
My DZ just got some ILWT love and its running perfectly ))
Does anyone remember Pyromod Mecha Micro ROM? I am still using that rom, and it was the fastest and saved a ton of battery life.
Is this ILWT rom better then pyromod mecha micro?
