I'm having 2 problems with my DHD and hope in some help
Infos:
Current ROM is Android Revolution.
Atm I have only Wi-Fi connection.
In "Accounts & sync" I have only Fb for HTC sense and Google accounts.
I have no standalone FB apps installed.
1) Resolved. See the 2nd post.
I have unchecked in calendar the option to show facebook events etc, i.e. in the menu -> more -> calendars , the only checked is the one connected with my mail.
Now the problem is that it starts syncing and never finish ( the sync icon in the status bar never disappears even if I disconnect and disable wi-fi ).
In this situation if I go in "Accounts & sync", I find the button "Cancel Sync" but nothing is syncing ( no circular icon moving ).
If I go to "Running services" I find: Calendar, process: com.htc.bg -> FacebookSyncStreamService
even if I have NO FB calendar in the settings! And it stays here even if I turn off wi-fi! The only way is to press "cancel sync" in "Accounts & sync" and the service stops and the icon in the status bar disappears.
I already tried to delete settings, cache etc but the problem returns every time I re-add the HTC Sense Facebook account..
2) the second problem is that in "Running services" I have this:
Sound set, process: com.htc.sdm -> SDMService which I never seen before ( in the previous ROMs ) and which is eating my battery! causing a partial wake usage in stand by ( actually it never goes to stand by because of this.. ).
What's this service? and how to remove it?

I resolved the first problem.
It was related to the fact that I removed the stupid "FriendStream" app from the AR 3.1 zip before flash but this is required for the "Facebook for HTC Sense" to work...
so the solution is remove both, or neither ^^
Still the 2nd problem remains and help is needed
Its the htc sound set service in htc hub, try removing your sence.com account, or change sync settings

I deleted HTC hub from the ROM zip before flash, so it's not installed :/, I don't have the sense account, in settings I have only Google and Facebook sync and I'm using the default ringtone
This process is related to soundset. Are you using the default soundset or have you set up your ringtones and everything manually? Change your ringtones and everything and see that helps.

In settings says HTC default 2010 and I've never charged it. I only changed the ringtone to old phone
No news? ;_; I'm still having this stupid process draining my battery ;_;

I had to do a wipe of the phone ealier, and i've set up my facebook account as usual, But for the life of me when I click contacts and then where I should be able to link them, I press facebook and it asks me to search, it sees nothing, I have logged out and back in, Tried manually syncing the facebook account and nothing

I updated my rom and now cant sync my Facebook contacts. I can use the stand alone facebook app without any problems, but it will not let me add the facebook account to my phone, everytime i try it says "The service is currently unavailable. Do you want to try again?"
So I cant use any of the build in facebook stuff like friendstream or contact sync updates.
This sucks, bigtime, hope froyo upto will fix this.
I never had any problems with it ever untill today when I had tk wipe do to free space errors

Yes, I'm Facing the same thing as well !!
I am starting to think its more of a fb issue rather than the device...
anyone else can confirm? any official statement by HTC? and by when will it be fixed?

I have EXACTLY the same issue - I flashed a new ROM yesterday (unbranded stock) and facebook doesn't show a single contact... Any ideas?
I was talkink with the german HTC Support.
They told me to hardreset my desire (again) and try to just setup WiFi and "Facebook for HTC Sensse"
After the sync i did not have any Facebookcontact in "Contacts" (need to make them visible: contacts --> Menu -> Show --> Facebook (0))
That (0) indicates that the contacts are not synced.
In addition when I manually sync "Facebook for HTC Sense", the live-feed takes a couple of seconds, Contacts takes less than 1 second.
i use the official, nonrooted htc "2.1-update1" rom (1.21.405 CL174215 release-keys)
Any better Idea?
One observation:
When I go
People -> Online directories -> Facebook -> Menu -> Refresh
I get a "connection error" instead of a successful sync - now if I would only know why!
I just tried that and i got xonnectiln error, intrestingly when i updated my profile it worked... but still not friends

Same here
If I then go to Menu --> Own profile I do see my profile
If I to there to "Refresh" it comes (translated from German) "We are Sorry. the Application Faebook for HTC Sense (Prozess com.htc.socialnetwork.facebook) was closed unexpected. Retry again.
HTC was answering. They sent me a manual how to reinstall HTC Sync...

I can confirm that - profile and wall works - sync contacts doesn't.
I have the same problem since yesterday.
So it's because of Facebook?

I'm having the same problem.
I had to unroot my Desire as it would not let me upgrade to official 1.21 (Danish rom) and after unrooting and updating, facebook friends cannot be read or sync'ed.
Friendsstream and everything else is working perfectly, just not linking and facebook contacts.
I too get the Connection Error upon trying...
I think it is a FB issue - darned!
I was again talking to HTC Support and giving all Hints.
We also tried via Settings, Apps, Manage Apps, FB for HTC Sense --> Delete temp files
It went now to 3.levelsupport.

I don't see how it would work, HTC Sync has nothing to do with Facebook contacts...
No, of course it did not work. HTC Sync is to sync from Outlook to Desire (or whatever)

Its not the same problem - Friendsstream, HTC Sync and everything BUT Facebook Friends syncronization seems fine...
This is still going on? I havent been able to sync my FB contacts for a few days.. it says " Service is unavailable would you like to try again?"
I keep my contacts on Googles servers only, there are none saved to the SIM card or phone as such.
I just changed ROM, restored using Titanium Backup, and now only three contacts show and they are ones that I added manually using the phone. It has synced to Google, but the other contacts just don't show (they are still on Google when I log in via the web).
Any ideas about this?

Have a look in Menu->Settings->Accounts & Sync - for the email account you are using, is "Sync contacts" checked?
Also, assuming you are using a Sense-based ROM, go into People and select Menu->View - again, check that you have checked "Google".

Hmm, I tried this and it didn't work, but I did eventually figure it out so will post it here in case anybody else has this problem:
After doing what is mentioned in the previous post I went into Settings, then applications, then manage applications, pressed "all" then found 'Contacts Storage' Press Force Stop, then Clear Data, then restart the phone.

I too wonder why sync is not working. My settings are so as you advised in your post + autosync is active, but still 0 google contacts in "people" (i thought my phone contacts would be transferred to my google acc. Am i wrong?)

Yes.. it is ticked and in accounts and sync menu google account is enabled for all three items; contacts, gmail and calendar. Gmail and Calendar sync working w/o prob but contacts not syncing at all..

Guys, how the hell can I stop Facebook syncing contacts to my phone?
I want it to see what contacts I have in my phone and then sync them to Facebook, but I really dont want Facebook pushing all my friends to my phone.
Is there anyway this can be turned off? I know you can hide them in "People", but thats not the point. I dont want them on my phone in the first place
No way apart from removing sense all together in the sync settings. I wish htc would sort this out I want to chose who goes into my dialer

Just choose to see only SIM and phone contacts. That way the rest ( google, facebook etc. ) won't be visible.

Yeah but thats not really the point. You can still find people if you search for them. I just dont want them all together

I like htc sense, but don't like facebook contacts being synced to my phone and wish they'd update it so that you get the option. There are two ways to stop it, one is permanent and one is permanent until you reboot the phone and have contacts synced to a cloud, such as google mail. The only problem is when you reboot the phone it then switches facebook contacts sync back on!
Method 1 (Permenant)
Under settings menu, in Accounts and Sync. Remove the account Facebook for HTC Sense.
Method 2 (Not Permanent - Will remove all contacts unless you have a them synced to a cloud)
Under settings menu.
1. In Accounts and Sync, tap on Facebook for HTC Sense and untick option to sync contacts
2. Under settings menu in Applications, tap on Manage Applications and then Tap on Running Applications, at the top of the screen. Select menu, just to sort them in abc order.
3. Wait for the screen to update the icons with images and then scroll down and find Contact Storage. Tap on Contact Storage and then tap on Clear Data, in the options. This will remove all contacts, and then the cloud base contacts will update your phone back with your normal contacts.
Method 2 is not permanent and is only effective until you reboot the phone, or replace the battery. Once this has been done then the contacts sync in Facebook for HTC Sense get's reenabled for some reason. Be nice if it didn't!
I hope HTC will get wind of some people are annoyed that Facebook contacts sync with phone contacts with Sense and they may just update the app with a more permanent solution to stop it if you don't want it to.
I want my dialer list to show only the contacts on my sim / phone and not add my facebook friends.
I'd also like it if the contacts that are on my sim / phone would update status etc.

Can't you just log out of Facebook in the Sense apps? Unless Sense is also talking to the official Facebook app, that should work.

Ive searched in Accounts and Sync and it seems that its the HTC sense thats always syncing but, ive set it to only sync every 3hrs therefore I dont know why it continually syncs. It could also potentially be the cause of any lag.
I could turn htc sense sync off but that would defeat the purpose of having a smart phone.
Any help appreciated

My facebook ones got jammed and synced for about a full day and destroyed my battery, check to see in the thing if the circle is spinning or not..

Its continually spinning.
try turning off wifi/3g and the disable auto-sync in the settings menu, then re-enable wifi/3g and auto-sync. not sure if it will work tho.

No luck there either. When I push the cancel sync button in Settings/Accounts and sync, the "sync HTC Sense" account continually tries to sync again.
Its becoming a massive drain on my battery.
Can u go to settings, running services and stop HTC sense and sync there. Also in manage applications go to accounts sync and clear data, if still syncing force close it.

Edit, didn't work.
Had this problem too. My Facebook for HTC Sense was f'ed. Removed the account and added it again, havn't had any problems since.
Mine was doing it for HTC sync. Turns out since HTCsense.com is not fully operational, it was constantly trying to establish a connection. For now I just unchecked that one for syncing until HTC has their site up and running normally.

This def worked. Removed HTC sense account and then added it again, boom no more constant sync icon in the task bar. Cheers for all the help.
So, I have Leedroid 3.3.3 R5 port and loving it so far.
Only problem is with autosync - It seems to be working more or less alright, it's just that sometimes the logo of the autosync will appear in the notification bar, and when I go into Settings>Accounts and Sync, it shows me the option to cancel syncing, even though it doesn't really appear to be acively syncing at the time.
What could be the issue here..?

First try and see what tries to sync at that time. You do it by clicking for example your gmail account. There you have that icon next to the component that is trying to sync.
Well, apparently it seems that whenever the phone initiates a sync, the logo comes on, and when I go into Accounts & Sync, it gives the option to Cancel Sync, but when I go into each account, it says Sync Now, as if they've finished syncing, or haven't synced at all..

I have same Rom no problems here ...
try looking for animated sync icon in Settings>Accounts and Sync to find out whats syncing.. Other thing you can do is to delete accounts and add them again... might solve the problem.
I am using Insertcoin 1.1.1. which also has this problem.. When I go to Settings -> accounts and Sync, nothing is synching but still I see the sync icon in the notification bar.. Only if I select cancel sync then it goes off..
