I would but Ive had it since it came out and I kinda owe tmobile over $700 lol...I got service through someone else
Do you have S-OFF via AlphaRev? If you do try running the "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" command.
Also did you flash something around the time it stopped working or did it just quit?

i bought a mytouch 3g from this girl that upgraded to a windows mobile device (not really an upgrade because she hates her new one already)
my sim card doesn't allow data at all, plus it's att. i bought the mytouch for the wifi. i need to unlock it of course, but tmobile is taking forever getting that code to me.. right now, the phone is in the initial limited mode because she factory reset the phone. if i would have known anything about mytouch, i would have borrowed her sim to login to my gmail account.
my question is: in this limited mode, where i cannot access wifi or any of the phones features, is there a way (there must be) to root (and possibly unlock?) the phone with my computer, via usb?
i obviously cant try any of the methods that involve the sd card, because i can't access the sd card in this stupid paperweight mode. i gave the original 4gb card to my stepmoms phone and got my 8gb one back from her, because even a 1gb card would be more than enough for her. so i do have an 8gb microsd i can use in the mytouch if necessary.
im not sure if i'm on the right site. this seemed to be the android development project? where you can buy unlocked android phones for development purposes? anyway, i figured there must be a tool that sets up these phones with their operating system, etc. before they go out to the phone companies. like they used on my samsung impression to reflash it.
can anybody help me out, or tell me where i should be asking for help making a mytouch 3g work, getting past this dumb 'you must login to gmail, without wifi' situation? if i cant root and unlock this thing, i guess i will just have to put it on ebay, for some lucky tmobile customer. i have never seen a phone that locks out so many features. making me login to a gmail account.. i need a version of android that isn't under nazi control of tmo. i have no idea what to do with this thing, i just know there has to be an easy way, where i hook it up via usb and run some program that makes it useful for something besides a paperweight.
basically i guess i need to turn this mytouch 3g into adp2. possible?
I want to get my son a myTouch 3g slide. We are on a no contract plan and I want to buy one outright from Craig's List. I found one for $80 and they say they upgraded to 2.2 and now the sim isn't recognized. Is this an easy fix? Should I even consider it?
It might be a win... maybe it's just their sim card? ask them if it was working before! you can buy it and follow this guide here to ROOT it.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1025336
after that try flashing to a 2.1 ROM and see if the SIM will work now if not you can always flash back to the official 2.2.1 and stick your sim in it, go to a t mobile store, say it isn't working and they might just exchange it! assuming it has not been opened up, dropped in water etc.
That's what I thought I asked if airplane mode was checked and they said no and that they tried several diff Sims and it still didn't work. I upgraded my daughters slide to 2.2 without any problems. I just wonder why this guy didn't go to TMO themselves. Just a bit leary. Thanks for the links.

yup! anytime and yeah It is a bit fishy... be careful as many will scam or lie to get rid of the device and run off! might have tempered with the SIM connector and messed it up? the rest will be up to you and take the risk
So I mainly use my phone for texting and that's usually over WiFi but last week I noticed that I wasn't getting any reception and I clicked in settings and noticed that the Cellular Service was set to CDMA instead of GSM. I clicked on GSM but it said that there was no SIM card inserted and switched back to CDMA. I checked the back to make sure that the SIM card was there and it was. I took the SIM card and checked it with someone else's phone and it worked perfectly but when I used their SIM card, my phone still would not switch to GSM.
Does anyone know if there is any fix to this? I'm pretty good about not dropping my phones and definitely have not dropped this phone so I'm not sure what may cause the SIM read to malfunction. Going to go to the Verizon store this weekend to get it checked but the problem is, I'm not with Verizon so I might not get a cheap fix for it. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!
EDIT:
Mr.Highway, thank you for putting it in the right place. I'm new to this whole thing.
To anyone else: do you think getting a voltage meter and checking to see if the SIM card area gets electricity would help?
EDIT:
Called HTC and Verizon and they won't fix it because I'm with a different carrier. And I don't fully trust myself in switching out the SIM card reader...help?

It started to not get signal in CM7 so I reflashed CM7 but that did no good. I then unrooted the phone and returned it back to stock, was still no good.
Miss read.
Hmmmm odd if you wanted a cheap repair you could try repairuniverse.com I think. Just Google the part and its for sale somewhere

Anyone have suggestions?
Okay, so I got my Galaxy Nexus today... went to put my SIM card in, and it refuses to acknowledge it. I thought maybe it was due to a very old SIM card, so I went in to T-Mobile, explained my situation, and they replaced it with a new SIM card free of charge. Problem is... the Nexus still REFUSES to read it. It keeps saying 'No SIM/Emergency Calls Only'. Help please?
Is the phone new or used? And do you have warranty? It could be because of the phone
It's used. It came pre-rooted with AOKP on it... I was thinking this might be the problem? So, I'm in the middle DLing the GNexRootToolkit to return it to complete stock, and see if that helps. Any other thoughts?
are all the pins there? If any of the pins in the SIM slot are bent or broken, it won't read the SIM.
I also find it hilarious that people buy used phones without knowing for sure the SIM slot works (one reason to only buy locally for used devices). I personally will never buy a used phone that is also rooted/unlocked/ROM'd. I don't wanna get some hand-down phone that's been messed with. If they can't be bothered to return it to stock, I won't buy it.
Okay, that seemed to fix it. Thank you for the quick replies!
Can't believe you bought a phone without checking if it worked. Smh. Well, glad it worked out for you.

what was your fix? i'm having a similar issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1707311
I bought my note 4 on launch day. Ever since then I've had an "unable to detect sim card please restart phone" error. At first it only showed up once every few days, but now it is getting more and more frequent and is happening multiple times a day. After reading starting the phone works fine for a while. I've done everything I can think of (pulling the battery, pulling and re inserting the sim, cleaning the sim), but nothing helps. Anyone else having this issue, or know of a solution? Thank you.

I am having the same issue. Not sure of a fix yet but it is getting more and more frequent which worries me.
Same here.
Same here! Anybody contact Samsung or Sprint about it?
Same here!!!
Just got my note 4 from Amazon.com. I had been reading about the lte to 3g call drop issue, and someone posted using there sim the card from the phone they were replacing fix this issue. So I put mine in from my s4 before i even turn it on for the first time. The phone worked, but was unable to connet to the 4g (lte / spark ) network. 3g worked fine. I got the message you all are getting (no sim, restart device....). It would happen like every 10 minutes. Once I put the sim that came with the phone in , all my problems went away. Long story short, you need another sim card.
I just called sprint and they are sending me another SIM card. It happens from time to time, but they did tell me if it continues, I can get it replaced for no charge.

This happened after my sim card swap. It would say "network did not respond in time" then "could not detect sim" then phone would reboot. It did it three different times. Then connection became stable and has not done it again. Not sure if these issues are the same as whats happening here. Just posting my experiences.
I actually bought 2 N910P. I planned on making a little extra money by selling 1 of them, but didn't count on the N910P being so easy to get, so I've held onto the other one for a back up until I found a ROM that I wanted to run on it. Well, I found a awesome ROM & booted up my 2nd N910P & got the message you have all mentioned. I thought it was strange, so I rebooted & got the same message again. After doing this a few times, I thought why not take my SIM card from the 1st N910P & put it in the 2nd N910P. I still got the same message after doing this, so I swapped them back before it messed up my primary SIM card. @Yoshi1221, please keep me/us updated if the new SIM card works for you. Has anybody else got a new SIM card? Also, after installing the 2nd ROM that I was trying out, the fingerprint scanner stopped working. I went back to stock & it still doesn't work, so I made sure that I did a full NANDROID backup on my 2nd N910P in hopes that once I get it working & the fingerprint scanner stops working, I can go back. Anyone else had this trouble?
Edit: I tried to activate my new GN4, but the DEC & HEX numbers were not recoginzed by Sprint.com. So I went into chat & they informed me that it had been turned over to technical support & to contact them again after 24 hours, so we'll see where it goes from there.
Update: Chatted with Sprint & the lady activated the SIM card after giving her the number. Hope this will help out. Just go to Sprint.com & click on the chat button.
Looks like new SIM card is working, but just got it today, seriously had to give up an arm and leg in order for sprint to send me one, but so far it looks like it is working, but just got it today, lol

Cool, glad it work out for you.
Also found out from a supervisor in the U.S that sprint is now selling GSM phones now. If you take out the SIM card and only receive 3G, you have a GSM phone, if you take out the SIM card and have spark/LTE, you have a CDMA phone

I had this problem. Sprint sent me a new sim. Fixed the problem for a few weeks but it has returned. Anyone ever get this figured out?
Sim card not found
I had forgetten about this error. Saw that someone suggested a piece of paper between the sim and case cover. I had this happen with a phone I got off a forum. Sent it back and got a replacement. The paper, no matter how thin or thick may or maynot work, and only for a short time. Changing the sim might not work either. You may just need a new phone. I went through all with a s4. Now my note 4 is doing it. I thought it was my recently deceased (July 4) mother was messing with me. One more errand to add to my list for today.
same here?
