Dear forum members,
i'm the proud owner of a HTC Desire HD, but since a few days i've got a bit of a problem. a very annoying problem.
when i call, or get called the phone hangs up after a few seconds.
When i put the phone down on the table and activate the speaker, it works just fine, but as soon as i put i against my head... i get disconnected.
i've got a feeling that perhaps i push some button when i my skins touches the screen, but the phone turns off the screen as soon as something comes close to it.
so basicly, it shouldn't be possible to press any button when i hold i against my face.
still, it's really annoying because i do a lot of my bussines through the phone.
could somebody please help me, because i'm back at using my previous phone, and i would like to use my beautiful HTC desire HD again.
p.s. my provider is the dutch vodafone, and i've got the phone about 3 months.
i'm not sure which OS version it has, if somebody tells my how to find that, i will post it here.
thanks in advance.
nobody seems to know something?
Strange problem.Maybe there is some static electricity problem.I don't see any other explanation why the phone hangs up when close to face and works normally when is put on table.Do you wear some synthetic clothes or something similar?
didn't think of that yet, but i don't really wear unnormal clothes.
i wear the same kind of shirts my friend does, en the same kind of jeans.
yet his htc desire works normally, and mine acts weird.
yersterday i tried putting my sim card in his phone, and everything worked fine.
so i'm sure it's a problem with the phone.

Hello,
I have an S620 running WM6.1. Everything has worked well for ages, but for no apparent reason today the screen "crashed" and is 90% white noise (like a TV with the antenna cable pulled out).
I tried a cold boot which seemed to work, but when I then shutdown and put the SIM back in and re-started - no dice. Back to WHite noise. I have subsequently tried a few more cold boots but all I get now is the top 10 % of the screen shows the green windows startup logo all squashed up.
The wierd thing is the phone itself appears to still work - but the screen is useless.
Can anyone offer any help ?
thanks
ur screen seems to be cracked.. u need to replace a new one
You can easily get a cheap on off ebay and then there is a youtube video that demonstrates to you how to install a new screen. Its fairly simple and cheap.
but if ur gettin the dream jus wait and dnt wrry
ok, thanks for this guys. Its a bit strange that its a cracked screen as I haven't dropped the phone and it looks in perfect condition from the outside. I did wonder if perhaps the internal ribbon cable might have fractured somehow or become loose.
I will crack the phone open and have a fiddle !
If anyone else has any thoughts I#d much appreciate it.
The phone isn't worth much but I really like it. I even handed back a Nokia E90 communicator (which I personally think is crap) to my company because I prefer the 620 with WM6.1.
Hi,
I do not know if someone has posted or commented on this before. I bought my TP2 back in november and since then I have noticed that it would power off every now and then. Closing the keyboard would very often power it off, or slightly banging it. A friend of mine bought the phone the same day and had the same issue. I have been reading forums and people recommended changing the mother board, or re-flashing... but in my case it would still power off.
Yesterday I was enlightened. I saw the battery has a little movement in its enclosure. I inserted a piece of plastic on the upper left corner... now the phone will not power off unless I want it to. I have noticed the battery is even working better. It seems it is les than 1mm smaller than it should be or something.
Seems incredible, but this really solved me and my friends problem... hope it works for other people too.
P.S. I know my phone is dirty
waw
i came searching for that problem, my tp2 turn off some times when i slid the keyboard open !!!
i didnt have this problem before, but few weeks ago i updated my ROM at the HTC care office , so i suspect the ROM but let me try ur way .. may be some how the battery space becam 1mm larger
What version of Touch Pro 2 is that?
My battery is nice and snug on my tilt2 (RHOD300)
@ samarrai:
Please do try it and let us know how it worked. I have seen this problem occur and be solved this way on 3 rhodiumms already.
@ fone_fanatic:
Good one. This is RHOD210, I will try and find out what version the others with this problem are and post it here.
Thanks for your posts!
How odd this post shows up today. I have had my Tilt 2 for about 3 months and yesterday I pulled it out of its case to check the time and I could not turn the phone on. Had to remove and replace the battery to get the phone to come back on. Wonder if this is the same as above.
This post is actually really odd, cause the exact same thing happened to me yesterday, took phone out to check time and it was off. I just dismissed it thinking I prob turned it off while it was in the case. but didn't occur to me at the time that i had to use the reset button to turn it back on rater than just the standard power button. leads me to believe more than just a battery not fitting issue.
It might seem odd... dont know what so say except my phone used to shut down every day more than 10 times... my friends phone used to shut down really often as well. We both bought it from the same guy the same day, and both are RHOD210 from at&t.
Now that we put the little plastic thingy, they just will not power off unless we tell them to. I just thought I'd share the info in case someone else is having this issue. I know I read a lot about it while googling, and no one commented on this.
Title sums up my problem. I've got a T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 and I've got some water on it a few weeks ago. The wet seal on the battery and phone are both pink. I got a new battery and now the phone boots. It goes through the pink little T-Mobile screen, and then onto the black screen that says the phone wasn't shut off properly and this and that. It gives me the option to press the Volume-up key to do a hard reset, or press any other button to turn off or restart. The problem is that pressing volume-up, or any other key does not do anything. In fact, the only way to turn the phone off at this point, is by taking the battery out.
Can somebody please advise as to what I can do with this phone that is only 2 months old?
I believe the life/fate of your phone will depend on how quickly you acted right after the phone got wet. For instance did you immediately remove the battery and place the phone under a light or in a window where it could dry out? I even here sticking the phone in a bag of rice will help to draw out moisture. But if the phone has sat for weeks I would say it's safe to assume you phone has seen its last days. If you can take it apart and leave the individual components out to dry out and clean off any corrosion with alcohol and re-assemble. I wish I could offer better advice... Good luck it brings a tear to my eye to hear about a touch pro 2 broken down
Edit: Sorry I didnt realize you said that the screen does display. I would definitely try taking it apart and thoroughly cleaning things out and leaving it apart to dry for awhile. sending it in will get you no where (since pink water marks) and chances are HTC/T-mobile wont even send your broken phone back.

You could also try connecting the phone to your pc, and run mymobiler. When the screen goes blank, maybe you will be able to have access to your phone through the program. You could back up whatever you needed, and would tell you if the lcd went out. Just a thought. Sorry to hear about that though.
Mymobiler says that it needs activesync functional in order to work. Activesync doesn't work for me. I tried it anyway and it wouldn't detect. Is there a stock htc touch pro 2 rom out there that is in NBH format so that I could stick it on my SD card?
The very same thing happened to my Touch Pro 2 a few days ago too!
My story is different. I had never had any water damage to the phone. On the 23rd of March, I installed the Deepshining ROM. It worked fine. The next morning, I went into T-Mobile to get the new HTC HD2. I turned off the Touch Pro 2 to retreive the SIM card, and then have been using the HD2 since. I tried to turn on the Touch Pro 2 for a few nights now. It just stays at the T-Mobile Stick Together screen until the battery is dead. I tried a soft reset while it was stuck on that screen, and received the error message just like the OP.
Can someone help me too? I am really worried that the phone is bricked. I can't get a new Touch Pro 2 under warranty since I am running on a custom ROM/radio.
I'm not sure if I can blame Deepshining. None of my previous ROM installs ever failed on me, and people seem to be installing the roms just fine.
Are you trying to conquer my thread? It's nice and all that you've got the same problem, but thread hijacking is frowned upon.
Sorry, the phone is physically damaged. There's not much you can do at this point.
Just as an update. Somehow, after installing the deepshining mod and trying it after a few days, it works fine now. It became very responsive, and I was able to install the original tmo 6.1 stock rom. Everything works fine, the only problem is that some of the physical qwerty keys either don't work or draw more than the needed letter/number. The power button doesn't function to turn the screen off, which really is about the only bummer. Everything works fine. Yay.
Hi,
I have a T-Mobile G2, original ROM. An hour ago, a very weird thing happened. Out of blue I picked up my phone to find a contact and I was stunned to see no display. The bottom panel/button lights were on, but there was no display. I only pressed power button to bring it out of standby. No liquid was spilled, no shock observed. I was just lying on tabletop.
I took out the battery and tried booting again (like WM sets), but no success. I can receive calls, apparently I can dial my last dialed number, I probably will be able to dial from the keyboard.
Anyone else how experienced something similar. I know the ultimate act would be to replace the LCD, but am just wondering if anyone else had observed this behavior and countered it without replacing the LCD?
Oh yeah, there is no warranty.
Please help.
Thanks,
MAK

Your screen died. Get a new screen.
that's a worst case scenario...give me some hope...
Same thing happened to my original G2, luckily I bought it at Costco so I was easily able to return it and get a new one.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
So far, it looks like this is the only option. Can't figure out why it happened. It was perfectly fine before and it didn't show any @#$ signs >:|
I searched other forums and seems like I am not the only one with this problem. All they suggested was to take out the battery, mem card, sim and leave it for a while and when it put everything back in, the display was working fine again. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me, not even restoring factory default, not to mention going through that painful "shooting in dark" process.
I am already aware that if all things fail, LCD has to be replaced. Other than that if anyone has any other suggestion(s), it'd be much appreciated. Otherwise thanks anyways
Hello XDA members, this time I'm writing to all of you to tell you something that happened to my Optimus G E987 from Claro Argentina, also, to ask you something related to the topic.
I bought this phone about 4-5 months ago, and I have taken really good care of it, without using any film protection or case, it was working perfect and with not a single scratch on it, not even a little hit.
But then, some days ago, I decided to "protect it" a little bit, so I got one of this:
htt-p://i[dot]imgur[dot]com/YtgK1aS[dot]jpg
htt-p://i[dot]imgur.com/la1kI5e[dot]jpg
(Sorry, I'm new to this forum so it won't let me post links)
I used it like.. dunno, 3-4 days. One night, my phone was on 53% battery, to lazy to charge it so I just let it like that. Next day I gave it some use, so it dropped to 33% of battery life, I had to go work so I turned it off. When I finished, I tried to turn it on again, but nothing happened, tried more times and nothing, then I noticed I liiiitle light in the screen, the phone was turned on, but with REALLY low visibility, almost everything black but with a little of sight.
I though it was just a battery problem, so I charged it, but to my surprise, nothing happened, well something did happen, the little bit of sight that I had just went full black with no visibility. I noticed that the touch screen and buttons actually worked, I could "easily" navigate through the phone by just using it as normal, but without seeing (you can do this by just knowing your phone a bit).
And that's the story, basically, after using that case, the phone "casually" stopped working properly, all I got was a functionally phone with a black screen.
I managed to connect it to my pc through wifi and launched Android Screen Cast, to see what was happening on my phone. The glow was at 100% (I tried changing it) and everything seemed normal.
If you don't want to read, here is a TL;DR
>Bought Magnetic* Flip Stand Leather Wallet Case for Optimus G
>Some days after, phone screen stopped working (phone was still normally working, just with a full black screen)
About the Magnetic thing.. is there any possibility that this was the problem? the magnetic thing?
Btw, I sent the phone to tech service because it was still on warranty and they have me a new one, now I'm scared of putting it again in the leather case I bought, I don't want this to happen again.
Something to comment? hope you can give me some advice, thanks in advance!
Also having similar problems as you. Somehow, i am quite sure its the stock rom causing the problem.
Had the very same issue few weeks ago, had to send the phone back to LG ( who replaced the motherboard :/).
I was also on stock rom, had root and unlock bootloader (of course I clean all that **** before sending it back).
For my part, I was unable to go to recovery and download mode was quit impossible to access (may be my finger fault )
BUT! some time if I let the phone off for a moment or spam the power key, the backlight turn back on until I power down the phone, so it's could be a software issue ...
Anyway, an other info, when the backlight was off, if i tried to change backlight level i was getting a error message about overeating or something like that...
