Incredibly Engineered ZZZ - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Had high (95% +) CPU usage by the System 3 times today. After I rebooted, the problem seemed to go away. Any ideas what may have caused this?
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App

There are a few new things in the z roms...htc hub and such...check your sync settings and make sure they only sync when opened.

Thank you for the info. I'll give that a try.

[Q] Sluggish Evo - Is it Fresh? Or Bubble Blast?

I can't tell if my phone was getting this way before I upgraded to Fresh 3.4.0.1 or if it happened after the upgrade... but my phone is sluggish. I am running the stock kernel with no OC. Sometimes I'll check my CPU with SystemPanel and it says it's constantly around 95-100% which a reboot fixes.
Is this a problem with Fresh? I have been more than happy with Fresh 3.3.0.1. No complaints at all.
Or is this a problem with a specific app? My wife loves to play Bubble Blast on my phone, and when she does my phone gets VERY warm and drains my battery like no other.
Has anyone else had problems after Fresh 3.4.0.1?
Does anyone else play Bubble Blast and have the same problem?
Thanks.
I was running fresh 3.4 for a day or two and it seemed quicker than cm6 for me.

I've tried fresh 3.4 highly doubtful its the Rom, you can't see which process is taking up all the CPU cycles?

Yeah? Would wiping cache/data help? Or is it possible that Bubble Blast is just a rogue app using all my CPU power?

Nothing looks like it is using more CPU that is should. I'm not having the problem right now, but normally it just says CPU usage is at 90+%

Phone getting stuck a low clock speeds

Every once in a while when I wake my phone up, the clock speed stays at what it gets set to when the screen is off. The profiles seem to not work at this point until I reboot. I'm running stable cyanogenmod. Is there any way to remedy this?

No. I did have that problem on my G1 but on this phone when it says it's running at 300 Mhz, it is. Apps open slower, linpack is low. It's definitely getting stuck somwhere.

I wkuld recomend auto detecting speeds to make sure its got the right info for your kernel. Then i would reboot the phone. Also try turning the widget off. If your still stuck uninstall setcpu and start frrom scratch. I would reflash my kernel at this point as well.

Facebook is usually the problem you can go into your main menu from the home screen find accounts and sync and turn on Manual sync that will stop it just remember to go in and sync your stuff every now and then... it will save on battery to

I'd been having that too, and when it was randomly syncing the phone was almost completely non responsive, three of the times I had to reboot when it did. When I updated to the 3/15 nightly I didn't activate the HTC account, hasn't happened since, that may be the culprit, or something else changed in the ROM or cleared in the wipe. If it is facebook, you should be able to change the sync interval settings from the program.

Also, check under your google account. i had this issue and found out it was actually 'picasa' web albums that was trying to sync.
Ah i seem to have gotten it. Twitter was the culprit. Haha. Is anyone running warm z 2.2? I csnt find the perfect kernel to run with it to optimize battery without sacrificing performance. Any sugestions?

CM7 android system too high.

Okay so I noticed that even with the Tiamat kernal my battery life hasn't been great. I always see above 60% android system usage. I recently did the "GPS FIX" but I never upgraded my pri or NV. I need some help, I may skipped a step.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I would update all of your radios. Also, I think in settings under privacy, unclick back-up. Also, have you considered turning down how often your phone syncs?
It also could be a rogue app stealing resources... Let's start with my first suggestion, radios are in my Sig.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Okay this is weird, I turned off background data and now no system use. Is that saying it's a rogue app?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
How many days was it high android use?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Ever since I flashed the GPS fix but possibly after Google+ app. Either way its at 81% usage.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
It's still high as hell ATM. 77% consumption. I don't understand. Wish I could get some help.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
There is a fix for it you'll have to search for it I only saw it once
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Someone had a link for me in their sig but they changed it...and I searched to no avail. Sad cause I don't want to ditch cm7 for something so dumb. Just want my GPS to work without having my android system through the roof. Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo is on the other line. -.-
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I had the same problem. Here's the fixes I did before I finally just ditched CM7
I updated my radios (and everything else).
All my syncs were on 4 hour intervals (except weather = 1 hour)
lowered screen brightness
uninstalled facebook, g+ and gVoice (my 3 highest used apps).
rebooted about 6 times
held it wrong
prayed to the gods of android
flashed Synergy RC2
So if you were considering doing those, don't. They aren't the problem.
Ironically, my GPS has never had a problem on any aosp rom (and I've tried darn near all of them), but like you, even with the kernels my stuff just wouldn't work right. I think it has something to do with our phones just not liking the kernel. Give toastch's "godmode" kernel a try or flash back to stock to see if that helps.
Ok so switch kernals or just switch to synergy?

Sense crashing

Is anyone else having a problem with Sense continually crashing? Almost every other time I go into an app and use it for any length of time, when I exit the app Sense has crashed and I have to watch the stupid loading animation while it restarts. It's happening really regularly.
Cheers.

Check how much ram is free.
And check the developers options for background tasks.
Yup noticed that too. This needs to be updated not liking sense.

Incredible how much ram Sense is taking up.
I figured it would take less considering it's more stream lined to look at compared to say Sense 3.
At times it feels like we've got two operating systems competing with each other for resources but slapped together.
It's definitely not ram related. It just did it again with 313 mb free.

I initially noticed this too. Then I went and disabled auto updates to HTC sense and voila, no more seemingly crashes in Sense.

Hi globalgpj, can you tell me how you disabled auto updates? I got my new device yesterday and I find that my touch screen and buttons become unresponsive fairly often. The only solution is to press the power button briefly to switch off the screen and on again and the response is ok.
Thanks.
I had this problem too 1st time i started my phone.
What helped for me was a complete system restore and skip the setup-wizard and do all that manually one in SENSE.
Here it shows how it was on my phone (look at 0:30)

If this bothers you return the phone. Htc has had this issue since the Sensation. It will rear its head at some point. It's because Sense uses too much ram and isn't locked in memory so Android will dump it from ram to make room for other apps and then it has to reload which takes longer than most launchers. This reason alone is why I'm staying away from Sense. Try using an 3rd party launcher and it'll work better.

You don't understand. This issue has been confirmed by many people on Sensation running Gingerbread and ICS including me. Adding a line to the build file forcing Sense to be locked in memory. The moment you remove that line (how it is by default) it starts happening.
It's fine, just don't expect this issue to be fixed because to htc its not an issue. It's just the way it is.

I can't remember exactly. But it did solve my problem of sense constantly loading which causes lag or delay in sense loading.
However, check the following:
Go into settings, and at the very bottom is Developer options. Click this option. Then see if this item is ticked :"Show screen updates"... if it is ticked, untick it.
The only thing I have ticked in this option is "Animation", everything else is unticked.
The other thing I also do, is I try not to have my widgets updated constantly. I have my emails checked only every 3 hours, my news reader, greader pro, every 12 hours.
Let me know if this has helped you.

I believe you can only use this script with a rooted device. Is that correct ?
Many people with HTC One X may be locked into a carrier for some period of time and therefore on a Stock ROM !
adding echo ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 to the local.prop solved the problem on my Desire Z, luckily temproot was enough to edit the file.
I don't suppose there is a way to temproot the One X yet?! I'm not interested in perm rooting my One just yet... I'm too fond of my 2yrs. warranty

This is a confirmed bug (countless people reported it).
I find this very strange.. i have in the last week had one force close on sense, other than that it has been fine
I haven't seen a single force close on anything yet. Had a few random close-without errors on Route 66 and one or two on Sygic, but this is infinitely more stable than my ICS Asus Transformers...

I have to agree with you . That was my problem in the beginning. So I installed Touch Calendar app, and since then, no more problems.

PS. I also went into SETTINGS, clicked on "Accounts and Sync" and check under my gmail account to see how many things were auto syncing. I removed most of them and chose to do them when I needed to. This helped conserve battery and possibly a smoother SENSE operation.
