Stock Kernel - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having issues flashing the stock HTC kernel. I have the newest clockworkmod and it aborts installation because it uses a different script to flash the kernel. How do I get around this as I don't want to keep flashing my roms over and over anytime I want the stock Kernel? Any help would be appreciated.

Try flashing it from recovery.

That's what I was doing. I was trying to flash it from recovery and it kept giving me that error because of the newer version of clockworkmod. It appears that the stock kernel is not compatible with the newest version of clockwork mod

I think what he means is don't use Rom manager. Boot straight into recovery and do it all there.

I wasn't using Rom Manager I was using recovery. That's where it was giving me he error. Said clockworkmod 3.x is not compatible with edify scripting or amend scripting I can't remember which and stops the install

[Q] Cannot Flash Radio/PRI/WiMAX

For some reason I can't flash my radio/wimax/pri to the latest versions for some reason, I boot into ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0 and run the .zip file and it looks like it's running and it says updating radios for a split second then it takes me back to recovery.
Is there something I'm doing wrong?
I think you have to reboot before it flashes the images
I have tried first flashing the rom and then reboot into recovery and flash the .zip file but it still does the same thing, run for a split second and then go back to recovery and when I boot and check the radio version iit shows no change

Try using a lower version of clockworkmod... lots of problems for people with the versions 3+. I currently use 2.6.0.1 and everything works perfectly. 3+ is meant for the newest of new Rom's like Cyanogen 7... if your not on that, flash an older version.
P.s. stick with 2.6.0.1 as it backs up your wimax keys...
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I will give that a shot. Thanks for the help!
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
In rom manager it only shows 2.5.0.7
Is there a link to how to flash to 2.6.0.1?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Yes I'm on my evo so I'm not going go searching for it... but you should be able to find it fairly easy. If I remember correctly I had to get the correct file, then rename it to pc3600.img then boot into bootloader and it will auto find it and ask you if you want to start the update.
Or you could just use the version that Rom Manager has but it wont back up your wimax and if you somehow lose that you'll hate your life...

After some research I found an image and some steps to flash the recovery. After that the install and radio updates went flawless. I really appreciate the advice!

Warm z 2.2 Can't update font to stock

Clock work mod tells me something about the update script not working...feature was deprecated by google in android 1.5 ?
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
You need to use a different version of clockwork. There's a zip that temporarily flashes you back to 2.5.1.2 in the warm z thread.

Thanks.... worked like a charm... just like you knew it would. I WAS running CWM 3.0.0.8. Where do I find the latest to re-flash? Or should I just stay at 2.5.1.2?
Rom Manager still thinks I'm running 3.0.0.8
Just keep the temp flash on your card, never kmow when you will need it

Yeah if you used the zip in the warm z thread its just temporary, should go back to the version you were using before. If not, or if you want to switch versions later, www.dougpiston.com has all the recovery versions you need.

Hboot.92

I am wanting to check out some of the 3.0 roms but i have noticed that you need hboot.92 where can I down load the zip file, and do I just install the zip in recovery mode?
Thanks
Swegin

You flash the file in hboot and can download it from www.dougpiston.com
Should be instructions on the site.
Did the same just today. Note that you should flash the Rom you are presently running immediately after flashing hboot, as it makes the kernel wonky. Then when it boots successfully, back it up before flashing the 3. stuff. Also, backups made with a lower version won't restore/boot in the later version.
You flash it in the bootloader screen. Follow the guidelines on Doug's site.

Superuser problems

I get the following message every time I try to update my super user binary:
"incapable of updating your su binary since it is installed in /sbin. This is not an error in the updater, it is an error on the behalf of your ROM or kernel developer. You can continue to use superuser with your outdated binary. "
Any ideas?

Yeah you should gives this a shoot as well, but my question is, what kernel are you running then? i can see this zip, external or internal.
The kernel is 2.6.35.7
I originally rooted through ( http://epic4gtouchroot.com/).
Haven't tried autoroot since I don't have a computer available at the moment.

Ok, I seem to have noticed a possible culprit, I've got ROM Manager Premium and have flashed a custom recovery, however, whenever I try to flash into Clockwork (from the app itself and by holding up+home+power) on my phone instead of taking me to Clockwork it takes me to Android system recovery instead. Any ideas?

Odin a kernel that has CWM in it. I believe there is only one kernel supported by ROM Manager so far and I haven't even tried to go that route to confirm it yet.

I was thinking of going back to stock tomorrow, then auto rooting. Will that work?

I'm using latest CWM, always update recovery via rom manager.

Try using TWRP 2.3.3.0 as your recovery system instead, it's more up to date and is reliable. Just flash it through Odin, afterwards, you should be able to install and boot the ROMs perfectly.

If you don't mind switching to TWRP as the guy above said, then I would switch. If you like CWM, then make sure you aren't using the super wipe scripts on CWM versions other than 5.0.X
