[ROM][Odin and CWM] Deodexed and Zipaligned Stock XWJV1 - Galaxy S I9000 Android Development

The firmware is:
*Deodexed
*Zipaligned
*Rooted and busybox is pre-installed
*gps.conf at /system/etc is changed to make use of European pool(europe.pool.ntp.org)
*build.prop is based on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988289
*Heap-size is reduced to 32MB to make better use of device memory]

The firmware should be very smooth and responsive with better GPS performance than stock XWJV1.

Odin package: Download (223.8 MB) (7zip SFX, Double-Click to extract) MD5:af96eae2e310e4ae91d7ffe1340ccf79
PDA: XWJV1
Modem: XXJVE
CSC: OXXJV1(MultiCSC)
This is an Odin flash-able package of 3 files that allows re-partitioning and changing Modem and CSC files.
I have tested the firmware while re-partitioning using 512.pit and 803.pit and Froyo 2.2.1 CSC files. No boot.bin or Sbl.bin are included, it will not update bootloaders.

Voodoo Internal-Sdcard folder: Download (159 KB) (7zip SFX, Double-Click to extract) MD5:efd8661e0ab93dee1f38aa53339e9750
This firmware has the hacked kernel by supercurio, for safety reason you need to download and extract Voodoo Internal SDcard from the link above and copy the extracted Voodoo folder to the Internal SD-card of your device before flashing the firmware, this will prevent Voodoo from converting the file system to EXT4 on first boot.
You have to keep Voodoo folder on the Internal SD-card if you intend to use the stock RFS file system, but if you need to enable Voodoo then remove the folder and reboot the device, then let supercurio's chipmunk do it's business.

This is pretty much a beta so it will not be added to Deodexed stock collection

You should be able to still use an archiver such as WinRAR to unpack it without having to run it, even if in SFX format.

It's a 7zip archive which can decompressed on Windows and Linux.
Edit: I have disabled the download link as I found a minor issue, I will fix this in a few min.

Can I flash this with repartioning on CM7 directly or should I go back to stock 2.2.1 first ?
And does this rom have a lot of static pops and cracks while listening to music that Stock 2.3 beta has ?

I'm uploading the new firmware, the issue was minor, there was a line missing in build.prop which I forgot to add:
# Samsung USB default mode
persist.service.usb.setting=0
If the user chooses Settings>Wireless and networ>USB settings Setting will crash, and the device cannot connect to kies.
I will add the correct build.prop to the first post telling how to copy it.

How did you root it? (kernel?)

Installing now. I will test and i report soon my impressions. Thanks for your work.

It's like any other stock firmware that you flash with Odin, I don't know if you should re-partition because you have CM7. I did not experience any static pops on this firmware, although I did not hear a lot music on this firmware, but no issues so far.

I really can't see any difference. It feels the same (like the odexed stock version) to me. I had flashed the odexed stock with 803 pit including the bootloaders and already patched the build.prop. I flashed this one without repartition (I was on 512 pit this time). Seems that the only thing missing is the framework-res.apk with the lock animation (TV-CRT) .
I'll be back if I find something else.
Thanks.
Almost forgot: It did wipe even without repartition
And you should mention that no bootloaders included.

Try this, do a factory-reset at recovery and see if it's still the same. XWJV1 does lag as I remember it, this does not, maybe once in a while, but it can't be the same as the stock firmware.

In any case, its incorrect.
You should only deodex if you need to make smali changes to the firmware. Images can still be replaced in odexed builds.
If you are really measuring speed, odex version's first boot is instant whereas deodex'ed version's first boot is hella long. After first boot, they are equivalent in speeds.
As for zipalign, it is suppose to reduce ram usage of an apk, so even there you won't notice a speed difference.
Hope that makes it clear.

[HOWTO]Root JV9 / JVO ( no custom kernel )

This has been tested on I9000BUJV9 and it's working
You'll need the following :
- Heimdall
https://github.com/downloads/Benjamin-Dobell/Heimdall/heimdall-suite-1.1.1-win32.zip
for it to work you need Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 , link in the program README
- fuguroot kernel for Heimdal
http://fugumod.org/zImage-root
- zImage from your desired firmware (extract the zImage file from the PDA.tar or the onefile firmware .tar using 7zip)
You'll need to do the following :
1. backup your files just in case , or if you're not on a clean firmware and wish to do so
2. turn your phone off and remove the battery for a few seconds
3. put the battery in and start the phone in download mode
4. connect the phone to the PC and start zadig.exe from Heimdall folder
- select options -> list all devices
- select samsung usb composite device
- select install driver and wait (select install driver anyway if warning appears)
5. exit zadig.exe and start heimdall-frontend.exe
6. browse from the kernel category and select the fuguroot kernel for Heimdall
-> the zImage-root you've downloaded previously
7. click start and wait for it to be done
DO NOT REMOVE THE USB CABLE AFTER IT'S DONE
8. right after the flashing is done you'll see the fugu bootlogo ( red fish ) and then the phone turns itself off and starts charging
AS SOON AS YOU SEE THE CHARGING BATTERY , REMOVE THE PHONE'S BATTERY AND CABLE
9. after a few seconds put the battery back in and start the phone in download mode again
10. connect the phone back to the pc and now browse from the KERNEL category to your stock zImage you've extracted from the stock firmware
11. select start again and as it completes you MAY REMOVE THE CABLE
The phone starts , and voila , superuser is there and also the phone is rooted
You may also perform a hard/factory reset as the root and superuser will still be present.
thanks to Heimdall readme file
thanks to nikademus for creating fuguroot kernel
thanks to me ^^

Which files does it delete and why? Is it just drexe and npsmobex? These can be restored fairly easily. If removing these is integral to gaining root, then yes, it should be noted.
Apart from fscking Kies up (which is no great loss), what else does this cause issues with?
Personally, I think fuguroot is a great tool which works faultlessly for me over JVB-JVO, but I agree file deletion should be stated somewhere in the release notes.

Yes those files. Deleting them is not required for rooting which is the sole intended purpose of this kernel as per the authors description. I dont want something deleting stuff it shouldnt for no aparent reason and no disclosure. I am also uncomfortable the author has not rectified this. What else it might be doing? Catch my drift? ...otherwise this would be a very useful tool.

I was also thinking this. To defend the OP though, I think the point is that you can flash back to stock kernel afterwards
no custom kernel as in , you don't have to stay onto a custom kernel to keep the root , once you flash back to stock kernel you can factory reset and its 100% stock but with root access

Well you could try rebooting your device. If that doesn't work, boot your device into recovery mode(5001). If that doesn't work boot back into normal(4000). Make sure TWRP is updated.(or CWM). Or you could try to flash it manually with your computer.

I would test it out but i don't have my Kindle Fire. The USB Port was loose and I'm waiting on my new one. They shouldn't find out I rooted because I unrooted, deleted any app that hinted towards me rooting it, and my battery is completely dead and it can't charge, so I think I'm safe

Well its not really a matter of testing it because I'm pretty sure it won't work on any fire because I think I formatted the zip the wrong way. All I need is someone who has made a flash able zip to check the zip out and see what I did wrong. This is my first flash able zip I've ever made. It is a very simple one too.

Hey kingtnutt,
What are you trying to do with the .exe file? Do you need to extract it to pull files from it? More details would help.
If the .exe is a "self-extractor" it would probably work to change the extension to .zip and then extract it. It may not, though.

Ok, sounds like you have a self extractor. Follow the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1835033
Sounds like you're trying to install a One-click update.
There are instructions for installing via Mobile Odin here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721229
See the 'Android Section'
sfhub and rwilco12 have done a bang up job of putting up detailed install instructions.
Take some time and really read throught the posts, watch Qbking77's videos and then re-read the posts AND follow ups. Or you could end up with a shiny fishing lure.
Why not use PC Odin? Especially if you're just starting out. Might save you loads of trouble.
Good luck

Unfortunately those one-clicks are compiled in such a way that they can't be extracted. You have two options to flash it, Odin or Mobile Odin.
Out of curiosity, why would you want to convert it to a ZIP?

K. The good news is that these one-clicks make flashing with a ZIP look almost impossible. You seriously plug your phone in and press the start button in the one-click and you're done (that's over-simplifying but you get the idea). Check out the instructions in the OP and it walks you right through it.
If you still want to use a zip Crawrj has the fh23 rom here

Did the BUMPed recovery work?

Nah. I used Flashify and tried to flash the recovery (blastgator's BUMPed 2.8.6.1) from there. It didn't brick the phone, but did bring up the DemiGod crash handler every time I attempted to go into recovery. The phone still booted fine, and flashing the recovery partition you posted got the stock recovery back with no problems. I guess LG patched BUMP in the Lollipop bootloader. No big surprise there. I guess I need the KitKat bootloader. I'll probably just end up waiting for AutoRec.
hey tabp0le, is the system img still uploading?

It timed out haha. I'm going to upload it using my sync client instead of trying to upload a 3.4 GB file over the browser lol. I will let you know once it gets uploaded.

Worth a shot. It's all trial and error in this business.

Why don't you just flash the ZVE.tot file and then update to ZVG via the update.zip?
So far flashing the system.img(andre team)+boot.img(from stocklollipop)work fine, with the modded kitkat bootloader, but we do need the stock radio, my phone is constantly loosing signal(this could also be that not using there kernel , network is not working properly). im on gsm btw, so this issue might only be for me.
Edit: i can confirm flashing the stock lollipop radio fixes the constant loosing of signal, on the andre team rom.
So yea with i confirm my theory that our stock lp rom would work with the modded bootloader(or the stock one not sure on this one) , we just need our stock lp radio.
Asoon as tabp0le finishes uploading the stock lp system.img i will try it,too confirm it works on the modded kitkat bootloader.
