Hi I have the Bell Mobility Desire Z which I have perm rooted, Engineered Hboot, CM7, and 12.28h.60.140.fU_26.06.02.27_M radio.
I want to go back to stock as it came from my carrier. How do I go about this, I have read PC10IMG.zip flashing is dangerous when you have S-OFF.
Do I use the RUU? Or what method and how should I revert back to stock.
Also how should I go back to stock recovery?

Am I right in thinking that if i follow a guide like this android-tutorials.org/dev/?page_id=78 one to get back to hboot 0.80, then I can easily root and install any custom rom in the normal way, eg via unrevoked?
basically, i am looking for a way to replace my standard froyo with opendesire.

so after flashing pauls rom, your s-off got reverted to s-on?
I installed Paul's rom but then tried to flash a stock one on top of that one which caused me to get s-on. The link below explains why I got s-on. I was able to change my version number and go back to stock with a hex editor.

Hey Guys,
With the exception of the unlock, how can I restore a Visionary perma-rooted Desire Z w/S-OFF back to the stock Bell firmware and S-ON.
Thanks!
Update:
I looked at my friends phone in Bootloader:
Vision PVT SHIP (I take it that's original bootloader)
S-OFF
HBOOT 0.85.005
Device was rooted with Visionary and has newest Virtuous ROM on it.
Need to restore to Bell original.
User doesn't remember EVER uploading a new bootloader / eng / spl any of that.
There is a guide to remove permaroot here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835971
Should be the same process but with different Firmware of course (Bell rather than the TMobile G2 Firmware)
Visionary can unroot the phone...but will I be able to boot back into Virtuous after unrooting? Can I not just run the RUU after using Visionary to unroot? Those are the concerns I have.

Problem is that as far as I know we don't have an RUU or ROM image for the shipping Bell ROM. Before you flash any custom ROM you should always do a nandroid backup so you can easily restore. If you don't have a nandroid backup then all you can do is return to a pre-release Bell ROM.

Hi,
If I run the Stock RRU for my HTC Desire will it reflash my bootloader and return to the stock HBOOT? (so S-ON returns)?
If not, how do I do this safely?
Thanks
Running an RUU will put EVERYTHING back to stock - you need to be rooted to have S-OFF
So if I run the Rru. My soff root and flash all go back to stock.
Wondering if that will put back for warranty claim

Yes, it puts EVERYTHING back to stock. S-Off returns to S-Off, you become unrooted, your partition tables return to normal (I guess so since it rewrites the Hboot), EVERYTHING!!! I don't see why not for putting it in a warranty claim. To be honest I don't think they will be fussed, as long as you have the stock rom untouched.
Is there a way to unroot and get s-on back? I'm selling this phone and want to get back to its original state. I have clockwork recovery and I'm running the stock Rom.

Did you use revolutionary or the xtc clip to obtain root?
I just did a simple search around the forum and came up with this. Follow these instructions. It will revert your phone back to stock gingerbread.

This would actually be best. This method will overwrite the revolutionary bootloader and fully revert it to stock with S-ON. You would need to have adb setup though.
I think you can actually just install the Gingerbread vivow RUU executable here and get it done quicker with less effort. That is what I did, and it updated the bootloader to stock.

I used revolutionary to root. Thanks for all the links. I'll check them out when I get to my main computer.
yes this would be the best way to get s-on and fully stock. tried other way but revolution remained with s-off
rootzwiki is what i meant.
