What is making the notification LED blinking stop after few minutes (about 8 minutes in my case) on DesireHD ? something in its kernel ? hardware ? system ?
Is there a way to change that ?
pretty sure it can be changed with an app... i've never seen such thing (i never searched too), but the app "led me know" let you change the frequency it blinks and what color, as many other configs, like if softkeys are enabled with notifications, or if it should blink even with screen on, etc, etc...
How the hell the Market search can be so bad !...
Very nice found app, thiagodark ! 'Led me know' is exactly what i was missing for notification led !
Btw it really stupid to have to use a root app to be able to customise led notifications, it should be builtin the system...
i believe phones should be rooted by default, or at least by a checkbox with a little disclaimer "marking this checkbox, your phone will be rooted, and it will be able to write in system partitions, this could be dangerous and if you don't know what it means, don't mark it" Done and painless! =oP
this way we'd see so many apps made for rooted phones with much more possibilities.
that's a dream, i know! =o)
regards!
the default LED behaviour of the DHD is to blink for 5 mins , and the DHD only supports 2 colors (amber and green).
after searching for weeks for a solution to that , i highly recommend u use LEDMEKNOW in the market, its very usefull and solves all the led notification problems (its developer will update it soon a he indicated in his thread for some bug fixes)

Hi all, i have the WM6 rom but i get an sms i dont get the LED changing from green to orange anymore
Is there anyway of enabling this?
I also dont get the orange LED for miss called either
duh
this has already been answered in this forum many times, but you have to set the orange led, it is not enabled by default
it is available in
start>settings>sounds and notiications
then go to the type of notification you want to have it on for, like missed calls or sms, then check the box that says flash light for: then set the amounnt of time you want it to stay orange

I'm having the same problem and it has nothing to do with the Sounds and Notifications. I've set them but when a notification is received, such as a text message, the amber LED does not blink. The LED stays green. This also occurs on charging also. The LED stays green.
Well, I think we need a little more information. Which ROM do you have? I realize that the first post indicated "the WM6 rom" but that could be anything from XDA Live V1 to Black Shadow and everything in between. Does the problem occur after a clean install before you add programs? What steps have you already tried to correct the problem?

The current ROM being used is ELF2.1 WM6. The problem is apparent when
1) charging (no amber LED before 100% charge)
2) text/email/voice message notification through 'Sounds/Notifications' (no amber when notification set)
Thanks for the reply.
What 3rd party programs do you have installed?
I had the base rom installed without any additional programs and had the problem. This basically was the case after the install of ELF 2.1.
Hi
I am using the software dont forget to change the led blinking on my s620. http://magazin.softimage.cz/dontforget/app-description/
it works so far. the led blinks when i received an email. thats what i wanted.
but when i now read the mail, that the led does not stop blinking. i have to run the admin panel once more to reset it.
same on reminders. i miss them and the led blinks. i dismiss them and the led does not turn off. it remains blinking.
i am using htc s620 with wm6 original rom.
anyone knows the problem?
It used to work perfectly on my WM6 HTC WWE ROM, but now on Rogers the same problem. Sometimes it stops blinking when I open the last calls list and when I go trough all the messages, but I know that's not it.
Fortunately, Radim is working on a new version and seems it will be available soon.
If you want to help
Please simulate the behaviour we are talking about (e.g. LED keeps blinking even when all emails are read) and then do an export of following registry branches (incl. all sub-branches) from your device:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\
and also
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SoftImage\DontForget
and send it to me to.
Regards
Radim, author of the DontForget app.
Here you go my frined.
If there's anything I can do more for your app that is vital for my likeness of Dash, please contact me via PM and I will give you my e-mail
Yes.
- please describe what was wrong in the time you did the registry export (hoping you did the export when the app was in such state, you should do the export when e.g. the device is blinking and you already read/saw all missed events )
- And tell me the version of the DontForget you are using (in the About dialog).
Ok, I really dedicated myself on recreating the problem, and found that there is no problem. Actually, there is - because on this ROM LED starts and stops blinking as it should, but starting has a 10 seconds delay, and stopping even longer delay. But in the end, the LED seems stopped eventually; except if I'm wrong, but I will then report back (it seemed to me LED continued to blink for the rest of the day, but I cannot seem to recreate the problem any more...).
Ps. version is 2.01 in the About
i can reproduce it easily. I receive an email and read it and it does not stop blinking anymore.
i attached my regs in this state:
turned on phone today morning everything was fine. no blinking. i received an email. blinking. read it. blinking remains.
Same problem for me, as soon as i receive an email, the blinking starts and it doesn't blinking stop.

Please try these:
- choose "Test ..." in the Admin and tell me if the LED stopped blinking once the test is finished or not
- are you sure you did the export when the app was in the state we are talking about? You should do the export when e.g. the device is blinking and you already read/saw all missed events i.e. in the state DF behaves wrong.
first the version 2.01
second the notfication window. that doesnt pop up at all after i received an email.
third the test. it does not stop the led blinking after an email is received. just the apply and exit button fixes it.
yes, i exported the settings after i received an email and led was still blinking
Ok, just tell me.
If the device is still blinking (even there is no missed events), how it blinks? Still the same (fast) frequency as during the notification or a bit slower as usualy the device is blinking (e.g. when the option "Slow down LED blinking frequency" is off) ?
it seems, that it is the usual blinking. and not the faster notification blinking.
Ok, but you have "Slow down LED blinking frequency" option set to 0(off), right? So it looks DF is not running (or crashed probably).
Please try to enable the option "Show state icon" in the Admin and watch whether the green exclamation-like icon is still shown (on the top near to radio-signal icon, but not on homescreen). This icon should be green. Watch, when the e-mail arrives, if the icon is still there and if it is there once you have read it etc.
Give me a feedback then.
will it change color from green to red or something? i am kind of color blind...

The tray-icon (exclamation mark in a square) should normaly be green (red when the notification is disabled).
But most important is whether the icon is still there or not - regardless of the color.
yes, it remains there
i've got a problem with the Dont Forget software also... it keeps getting shutoff somehow?
I start it, the icon shows up... I exit out of the start menu, and lock my phone... not long later, i see my led flashing, i hit start, and the dontforget icon isn't at the top anymore, so i restart it, and it keeps happening... all this happens when i don't receive any calls or messages also.
I'm using the Rogers WM6 rom, not sure which version of dontforget... I'm testing to see how long it takes to shut off now..
I just reenabled it at 9:54a,
it's now 10:27a, and it's flashing... no messages or anything, just sitting idle DONTFORGET shut off
New version is out
DontForget 2.50 (Beta 1) is out
It took a bit longer than originally expected, but finally I finished new version announced early this year.
I'm sorry for delays and possible inconveniences, but now you can take a pleasure with the new DontForget 2.50.
Detailed information and download you can find at HERE !
Please check this version and tell me if the problems still persists.
Enjoy

Hi there,
is there anyway to have the software only notify me of new emails from my Outlook/Exchange mail?
I have POP accounts but they tend to have spam etc which i dont read.
So at the moment dontforget is notifying me of new email all the time, until i mark all my profiles as read.
thanks.
I did a search and didn't find anything(although I used the mobile app to search, read:aggravating)on this subject. I want to know if there is a mod to change the led flash to blue for messages and missed calls instead of red. Just a personal aggravation, really. Not something I absolutely can't live without, clearly.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
The only thing I know of is to use GO SMS. You can change the LED to blue for SMS messages through GO SMS but I don't think it will change the color for missed calls.
LightFlow has been working very well for me on default mode on EL29 and FC22. Only blue and red work, but they work reliably. You can get purple to work if you use "direct mode", but I find that the LED turns off when the phone goes to sleep mode, so it's not very useful as a notification light.
re
I as well have been looking for a WAY or MOD or APP that will successfully allow me to change the LED notification accordingly but yet have been able to find anything that FULLY works. Liteflow doesnt FULLY work as the adjustments are off and when screen times out its pointless pretty much.
The ONLY thing Iv been able to find for another "notification method" is having the LED Flash from the Camera flash for an alert. Pretty cool thought if you have your phone faced down and dont here it.... Send me a message as for request if anyone wants the know how to set that up and I'll give you step by step..
try blink from the marketplace. its like lightflow, but its much lighter and more efficient and works great.
keep in mind the led will only display blue red or purple tho.
blink is one of my must have apps

Hey man, might i ask how do i set it up for my camera flash to be my alert for notifications? that would be awesome
Right now it looks like the LED Notification on the One X is set at something like 5 minutes (it stops blinking after that). I presume this is a simple setting (maybe in build.prop - I'm no dev). Is there any app or hack that can make this longer? I don't always look at my phone every 5 mins or less and I like not turning on the screen to know if I have a notification.
there is a app in market - i think it called "blink". With this you can manualy setup all led-colour, blink-time and much more others.
Will that blink app works with extending htc one x notification led duration?
You can also do it with Tasker.
I didn't find the blinker.
Tasker is not working for me...
I don't believe that can't configure the led timeout...
Yes I would also like to try it. If you search "Blink" on google play online it's the first result. However that app only lets you configure the green led and I don't think the frequency change works. Also you can't change the orange led and it cannot find it.
Still searching...

Other ones to try are, "Lite Flow" and "LED me know".

I'm not sure if these work with One X. I used Led me know for my Desire HD.

unfortunatelly the led blink only five minutes in all applications...
I used to have LED me know app on my Desire Z, but it didn't work so good after the Android 2.3.3 update.
I'll follow this thread, I need that blinking light to stop only when I turn on the screen, otherwise it's pretty useless if you don't see the phone in the first 5 mins.

i absolutely agree with you. This is useless feature in this form.
I've found the application (with source code) which name of missed reminder.
https://launchpad.net/missed-reminder/+download
if you disable the factory led notications and you can enable this (except the gmail notification because is not working whith new gmail api...) it will works sms, mms and missed call notification without time limit.
i've tried repair the code that we can use gmail reminder but the new gmail api don't work with HTC sense 4.0 (but with CM9 works)
i'll try more... maybe
Thank You!!!!
Thank you man, i followed your advice on my HTC One X and now thanks to you the 5 minutes

Hi all, one thing that I cant understand is the lack of proper notifications on some Android devices like the Samsung Galaxy series (I & II), we dont have a small led light like other phones (or blackberry) so u have to turn on the screen in order to check for missing calls or SMS.
So I made this small app for that, is free (without Ads ) and simple, u can setup the frequency of notifications, use vibration and/or sound and/or turn on the screen for just a second (that means almost no battery usage).
Well thats all, I hope u can find it useful, please feel free to send any comment/suggestion/bugs
The app name is "No Led Notifications" u can find it in the market.
