Tried everything I can think of:
1. reboot
2. Two different roms with clean format: CM7 and MYN
3. Used GPS Status to clear GPS internal state reset.
Help! =)

Well you physically "can" do it in cm, but it won't work, so you have to use it on a sense rom, like myn's, and then flash back.

So I am on Myn's rom, I do the ##GPSCLRX# and nothing happens. after the last # it clears what I just entered. What am I missing??
You should have a prompt come up that says your phone will restart. Once it does you are good to go. What I did was open up navigation to ensure its working on the Sense ROM and then flash over to CM7. Worked for me

You need to use a stock Sense ROM like this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=874251&highlight=ruu+supersonic
Also, I don't see that anyone mentioned it in this thread but you need to have your MSL. You can get it with the MSL reader app from the market.

You don't have to be on a stock sense rom. Just ANY sense ROM.
You can do it on Myn's. You don't need to root again. You can restore a nandroid of your CM7 afterward but its better to just reinstall CM7 RC2 from scratch and start over. Make sure you install GAAPS as well.

I am on Myn's rom release 5, I open up the phone, press ##4772579, and right after I press # it clears out what I just entered, and nothing happens - can dial more numbers.

yeah if you are using Myn's Z you cannot do it as it is a GSM port and won't know the command.

Its probably the one that comes off of a PC36IMG update.
After I rooted my evo(004 - 3.30.651.3). I did a nandroid back up then flashed myns rom.

Should work on any Sense ROM, including stock. I took the /system/lib/module files from Myn's ROM though.
Edit: Actually, I got the files from Frost's ROM, but it's a Sense ROM so it should fix the WiFi problem on your nandroid backup.

Does anyone know what the issue is with aosp roms and gps? Every one I try can lock on my location, but will not navigate. Google maps/navigation often just says "looking for gps".
I love the new Destroyer rom, but I NEED accurate navigation for work.
Have you tried the fix where you flash back to a sense rom and then type ##gpsclrx# in the dialer. Then flash back to your aosp rom backup.
Worked for me and many others on here.
I'll try that now. Thanks!
It did not make a difference. Here is what I did:
Nandroid restore of a previous sense rom.
##gpsclrx# from the dialer. Enter msl number.
Nandroid restore of my aosp rom.
reboot.
No dice. Was that the correct procedure?
I believe you have to reboot into sense again before nandroid restore, did you do this? It's been a long time since I did the fix but I used the fresh rom for this process.
I did this fix back on like, nightly 6 and it worked great ever since up through RC2.
--Chris
After dialing ##gpsclrx#, then entering the msl number, the phone automatically rebooted after 10 seconds. I let the sense rom boot up, (koni 2), then went into recovery and nandroid restored the destroyer aosp rom.
When typing in gpsclrx, I'm just typing the numbers that represent the letter, correct? 4772579?

Correct. When you reboot, after inputting that MSL, make sure you verify a GPS lock and even initiate some Navigation for good measure. This is what I did and all worked fine. Some have reported it didn't seem to work but they realized they didn't inititally lock on after the reboot. Then you can flash CM / nand restore.
Thank you so much. I'll give it a shot.
Yeah, hope it works for ya!

Hello everyone, this is my official greeting to start since I am very new to all this rooting and flashing roms business but I am learning (hopefully not the hard way) But I rooted my phone with Unrevoked3 and then I flashed CM7. When they said create a backup, I used TI but did not back up my phone in the recovery screen. I wanted to reflash Sense so I could fix my GPS glitch. But I can not find it. Did I lose all the stock Sense rom that came on my Evo? And if I did, Is there a way to fix it?
I'm sure I'm not the first person to do this but I haven't found a thread to answer my question. All help will be appreciated!! Thank you!
Yes you lost your stock ROM but you can just download a sense ROM and flash that you can also find a stock rooted ROM on this site if you want that
To make a nandroid back up you can either use rom manager app from the market and do it that way or make one from recovery you should have cwm recovery so you might want to use rom manager for now its easy and you can name the backup.
Hope that helps you.
And tb only backs up your apps and data not your system.

Yes, you can flash a stock rooted rom. They can be found in many of the stickies here. It will flash just like you flashed cm7, except obviously you will be back to factory, i.e. no apps, etc. But BE SURE TO NANDROID BACKUP YOUR CM7 ROM BEFORE DOING THIS.

Yes, you lost your original rom and no,you cannot get it back, however, you can flash an official HTC rom for the EVO. You can download a rooted stock rom from HERE. I suggest the ODEXED version. After you've flashed the rom, go into recovery and make a nandroid backup of it.

Thanks everyone!! I downloaded Speedy's (Misfit's) Sense Rom. I did this time create a NAND of my CM7. Flashed the Sense rom and fixed my GPS glitch that Evo has with CM7 and Im back to normal. Works great! Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and help!
the latest CM7 versions should have fixed the GPS issues..
even with the fix in Sense... and with the latest CM7 version.. I myself still get a few issues here and there with GPS and the applications that use it.
i found it best to download GPS Status from the market which will help in getting the GPS to work... and even with that, sometimes i have to even toggle the GPS off and on to get it all working.
remember.. TI is only for apps.. you make sure and do a nandroid backup thru recovery every time you wanna mess with something.

You only lose root if you flash an OTA from sprint/htc, usually they are packaged in a PC36IMG.zip, or if you go to settings, system updates, htc software upgrade and take the ota.

Thanks for the tip! I ended up following the directions from the thread "READ FIRST! - Rooting, Solutions to Problems, The Answer To Life..." to flash my first rom on the EVO (Synergy RC1) and everything works flawlessly (so far) . I wiped system/data (factory reset), cache, and dalvik once and everything flashed fine. I was reading that people wipe things several times with certain roms? I have read a lot of posts in several threads where people have said they have wiped up to 4 times before flashing something. Is this necessary and why? Thx.
It's debatable..I just go down the list and wipe everything once. Never had a problem. Might want to think about switching to amon ra recovery though.
Its a good thread, and some people do that because some claim that clockwork doesn't always wipe correctly, so they do it multiple times. I've used both and never had a problem on either.
Yea, same thing on sdx with my old phone where people would swear the recovery wasn't working properly when wiping things.
One quick question about backups... When restoring from a backup you need to wipe everything as well right?

Hey guys, I seem to be having a problem on my phone recently.. Every time I start it up, or try to load an app or something, I get a message saying the process ends. This happens with Google Apps, Gingerbread Keyboard, Etc. I've tried wipe x3 then reflash, but it doesn't do anything.
I'm running
Genocide Kernel, Firmware 2.2.1, And Simply AOSP v3.1.2
I believe it's still on SFR 1.2 , but it's not saying that in the build number so I'm not sure..
someone please help.
If you have a good nand backup you can do a factory data reset and then restore advanced data. That will clear up any of the FCs. Or clear data in each of the apps giving you problems in settings>applications>manage applications>all and scroll to google services framework and click it and clear data. Do the same for the Gingerbread keyboard and any other app FCing.

I would suggest either pming or posting on the AOSP thread what setup you're on and how best to convert to their Rom. Sometimes they've heard of conflicts or tricks that they can walk you through. I love SRF, but if you want to explore, you should know what works best to transition. You'll get it going, just keep toying. Worst you have to do is Odin and that's not terrible for the phone now and again.
