I followed Eugene's root method. I got into Clockwork and flashed a rom, now I seem to be stuck in a bootloop. While it is booting, adb will see it for a second and then it will disappear. I can't use adb to get back into clockwork to restore my nandroid or do anything else, for that matter. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

Thanks to some awesome help from Eugene, I ended up fixing my Slide and am now a happily addicted CM Nightly flasher. You stay classy, XDA.
Hold down the volume down and power keys, right as the device is rebooting, that will send you into recovery... you can use adb and push update from there. Use Logcat next time to ensure no bootloops!

Thank you for your help, but the problem is that even in recovery adb will not see the device. I know it's not a driver issue, as everything was working fine before.
You're not going to be able to use rootme.bat and rootme2.bat... you're going to have to push update then ota from command line. Read the slide rom bible.

If you are using windows, disable the "USB Mass Storage Device" in device manager under USB serial bus controllers... then while in recovery unplug and reconnect your device. Then from command line adb kill-server followed by adb start-server.

Okay, I tried what you posted: disabling the mass storage device, unplug, etc. However, adb for some reason still is not seeing the device while in recovery. I don't know what I am doing wrong, but thanks for trying to help...
Oh, by the way: I am not using rootme.bat, I am using Eugene's method.
Boot to Recovery Via Bootloader ( Fastboot ) / HBOOT )
Once in Recovery Wipe data/cache
And Processed to flash another Rom.
I am having the same problem
I am experiencing the exact same issue.
Using eugene's root method, i have been able to get into clockworkmod several times. During this the normal behavior was,
Boot into fastboot (voldown+power), go into recovery; adb devices would show "offline" for a second, then if it worked "recovery" (or maybe back to nothing and you have to reboot and try again).
This worked fine for a few times; I flashed several different roms that way.
Then one night I stupidly flashed a bad rom, it boot looped. Every time since then trying to get into recovery, NEVER works. It no longer ever shows a "offline" for a second like it did before when you just had to keep trying. it NEVER SHOWS UP. in fact, my dmesg in linux shows some usb errors
I flashed wesgarners stock ESPRIMG to go back to factory so my phone could boot. But when it boots up the stock version, it always says SD CARD EJECTED.
and usb debug mode will not go either, (so i can not adb push or adb log or anything).
Also, if i go into the stock recovery and try to flash update.zip, i get sd card read errors, and it fails. (it seems my usb/sd-card slot is fubar'd up now)
[the sd card is the 8g one it came with that still works fine in my nexus1 and vice versa]
I have been unable to get it out of this state since then. Though luckily since wesgarner's stock image flashed, it is back to "stock" with a broken usb/sd-card. So I am just about going to go into a t-mobile shop and see if they will replace it for me.
Unless anyone else has any ideas.
I don't think anyone had mentioned.this yet and if they did I am sorry for repeating...
Have You tried a different sd card? It took me forever for adb to recognize it as offline until I tried my old 1gb card from my g1. It it work the first time.
So I suggest a different sd card that'd been reformatted..!! Hope it helps...

I have tried using the 4g card that cam with my nexus one, the 1g card that came with my G1, and reformatting the 8g card that came with the mytouch slide. all give me the same results
Have you tried deleting all of your drivers and just installing the HTC bootloader driver to see if it will recognize off of that?
I had to redo the root process a few times until I found out about the engineering rom. If you didn't flash the engineering rom after getting into clockwork you should if you can get back in. Saved me a lot of time and hassle and I haven't had any problems with flashing roms since.

Have you tried flashing Amon RA's recovery from the dev forum? I believe you can flash it from hboot. Otherwise, flash the recovery.zip from Toast's root method also in the dev forum.

I'll pm you my gtalk address..
If you push the volume down button while pushing the power button and it goes to the bootloader your fine your not bricked if it doesnt then you got a problem. Here is the link for RA-evo 1.7.0.2 download it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026&highlight=recovery
Now when you go in to the bootloader select fastboot usb or fastboot and run a ADB Copy recovery-RA-evo-v1.7.0.2.img to a location where fastboot can find it.
Boot your phone into fastboot mode
fastboot devices(press enter) (to make sure that fastboot "sees" your phone)
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-evo-v1.7.0.2.img(press enter)
Issue solved
This issue has been solved and it couldnt have been done without the guidence from senior member "nebenezer" who personally took time out his day to help a stranger thx neb 4 the help and now im up and running again, this really is a good community thx 4 all who did offer suggestions as well.

I'm currently stuck in a boot loop, with no way to access my rom or recovery. I can only access bootloader. The boot loop began happening soon (around 2hrs) after flashing MIUI; The rom was running, and out of nowhere it just began cycling. Any ideas on how I can get out of this boot loop?
Edit: I'm no longer in a boot loop after installing a different full system PC36IMG.zip. Instead after the initial splash screen my evo goes black and vibrates 5 times, then my green LED starts flashing. It stays this way until I remove the battery.
So far I have tried:
Flashing RA's recovery image using fastboot. (The flash was successful)
Using RA's recovery PC36IMG.zip. (The installation was successful)
Using an RUU file renamed to PC36IMG.zip (The installation was successful)
Using a Sprint Lover's file renamed to PC36IMG.zip (The installation was successful)
For all of these the process of installing and flashing went fine. Yet when I would turn on my phone it would just go right back into the boot loop.
*I've been editing this post as I've tried new things, so you don't need to read through the thread to help me.
Anyways I'm at my wits end here, pretty worried, and phoneless, so any help would be amazing.
Have you tried ADB from bootlaoder or fastboot. May be able to get recovery that way.
I'm trying to do a bit of research, but am a little confused on what adb is. It's part of the android sdk? I can't seem to find it, or know how to launch it. Is there a thread somewhere that covers it? I'll keep doing my research, thanks for the tip.
Its a command terminal but if you are not familiar with it you probably wont get it right away! I am just starting to learn this myself. VERY VERY useful tool though! Here a link.......
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502010
I really appreciate you trying to help out. I'm trying to figure it out right now, but how do i get to the terminal? Theres a couple of different guides I see, but none seem to be while in bootloader. The thread you showed me seems to be mostly commands. Sorry for the hassle, I really appreciate you helping me. I wouldn't be quite so pestering if I wasn't without a phone, haha.
ahhh, also, if adb is an exe that opens up in cmd.exe (which i'm starting to think), its not included in my sdk.
edit 2: haha, ok i just found out i have to install adb through sdk, from a little txt file. sorry. i'll get back to ya soon!

Jeez sounds like you have a better grasp on this than me already! LMAO
haha, well i'm not too sure. Have you gotten you're evo to be found? Right now while using adb, I'm just told "device not found." All my drivers should be properly installed because I had to install them when I used unrevoked. So I choose fastboot on my evo, and then it shows up on my computer as "android 1.0" under devices and printers... but adb doesn't find it.
I was told to get rid of my drivers and re install the recommended ones before starting. It recognized mine right away. YouTube also has nice how to videos on ADB.
Is there any way you can point me to the recommended drivers? I think that second link you gave me is the same as the first also.
Edit: Every single guide I see on the internet about adb, says use debug mode within the actual rom. However I'm obviously not in a rom, i'm in bootloader, and for the life of me can't get adb to find my phone.
Edit2: Ok, so maybe I can only use fastboot. Right now when trying fastboot it just says "waiting for device," even if it didn't say that, what would i need to do to get on the road to recovery?
So I'm starting to get scared. At first I figured this was something I could fix... and now I'm not positive it is. I've used fastboot from terminal, trying to flash recovery and it says "FAILED (remote: not allowed)" I'm starting to get desperate, does anyone have any ideas?
I'm sorry to bump this, but I'm really struggling here... because I'm phoneless and all , I worked at this for 5 hours last night from 9-2, and now I'm at it again... and very worried. I've read that theres almost no way to completely brick your phone, but I'm starting to feel like I did. It seems like no matter what I flash it just keeps boot cycling. Thanks for the help.
go to the bootloader and ruu it
I have... I took the ruu file and renamed it PC36IMG.zip, went into bootloader and it went through all the steps with "OK"s, rebooted, and went right back into the boot loop.
Specifically I used "RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.zip" from here,
http://goo-inside.me/evo/stock/RUU/
Is there a specific number version of RUU I should try? I just tried the most recent.
You have to use the ruu that matches your radios/software etc. How did this boot loop start? Give us all your phone info, rom, hboot version, radios etc.

I flashed a CM7 nightly, from CM, about 2 weeks ago. Yesterday, still using the same nightly (build 1 or something) my phone seemingly out of nowhere rebooted - I wasn't even using it at the time. When it went back into CM7 it acted as if I had never linked a google account to my phone. The first thing that came up was the android google apps screen. Anyways, I decided I wouldn't stick with CM7 until at least an RC was out, so I wiped data, cache, and davlik and flashed MIUI. I used it for about two hours, didn't do anything out of the ordinary, and once again seemingly out of nowhere it rebooted... except when it did it went into a cycle and never reached MIUI, and wouldn't go into recovery, I could only access bootloader.
Anyways, I'll tell you what bootloader says my phone versions are, but I do believe the info all changed this morning when I flashed the ruu file.

Are there any other thoughts on how to get on my feet?
In addition to booting an RUU file as PCIMG36 I've also tried a Sprint Lover's image as PCIMG36. Even though both installed properly, my phone still staid in the boot cycle afterwards for both.
I've been suggested, and have seen other users suggest on other threads, to try adb commands, but I don't know if i can access adb while the phone is in bootloader. I have however accessed fastboot, are there any commands that might help me? If not, can I use adb while in bootloader? Thanks.
Well I tried a new PC36IMG.zip file and I'm no longer stuck in a boot loop... instead as soon as the HTC EVO 4G splash disappears my phone goes black and vibrates 5 times, and my green LED flashes.
Good? Bad?
This would be the 300th something thread I've read on this subject and this is exactly were I'm at with my EVO minus the last post... I was using warms2p2 with the hdmi kernal everything working fine then I went to change my notification ringtone and bam went into boot loop and never came out. SOOO! it would be nice to save this unit... any help forum members would be great I've tried every RUU out there from fastboot from sd card nothing.
Very intesting that this thread ended this way... please share if you think you got this whooped. Thank you in advanced.
Love the revival of old threads...but did you try changing the kernel?
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19699565/3.70 RUU Zip.zip 3.70 RUU, just rename to PC36IMG and flash in the bootloader if you want to run the RUU.
Hi I'm new to the mytouch slide family coming from a Motorola Defy and I'm having a hard time going into the recovery mode. Everytime I try get the red triangle warning. I've watched videos, read ROM bible and other post and still no luck. My slide is rooted by VISIOnary Temproot but with root at boot selected. I've been at this for 3 days trying not to bother anyone on the forum for a solution but now I need help!!!! Also I have ROM Manager and loaded Clockwork Recovery through ROM Manager.
Thanks-
Under ROM manager the 2nd option says reboot into recovery. Im pretty sure you tried that right? You can also get to this by turning off the phone and hold the vol down button and press power.
Oops. then select recovery
hoped this helped

Ive never heard of that root method. Are you sure youre rooted? You did say you used a temp root method. Every time you power down youre probably breaking root. First, download an app that needs root, like titanium backup. If it fails to load, you dont have root and that will be why you get a red triangle everytime. I would try rooting using a full proof way listed in the development section. Also, i dont use rom manager but i've heard of issues using that to get recovery.

VISIONary is used to temp root the G2. With VISIONary you can select to temp root your phone on boot, so that's what I selected.I tried it on my slide and it worked. May I ask what method you use? I will try the full proof way.
Thanks-
I cant give you a link since im not at a computer, but its called " [UTIL] New Root Method as of 8/13! -> UPDATED 12/30 for NOOBS! <- " and its stickied in the development section. I used this the second time i rooted my phone (decided to update with tmobile's ota and it broke my first root).

Htc sync? What would you need that for. As long as you phone is visible to the computer you shouldnt need htc sync. I know i have never used it
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
at the red triangle screen you push vol up + power I believe -- can't remember exactly and no longer have stock recovery to check with. But it is just another button combination.
HTH
Temp root apps don't root your phone, regardless of boot settings. You need to have the eng build flashed through hboot to be able to get into a recovery that will flash self signed zips such as clockwork. No matter what you do, without fully rooting using a method in the development section, you will not be able to flash clockwork or any custom rom. Temp root only allows you to run root apps inside of android.

As for that, it's the easiest way of obtaining the ADB drivers for the slide, as the slide is only plug n play as far as mass storage, not its adb interface. I'm sure there are other methods, but installing HTC sync is the easiest.

Did you try to fastboot flash the update.zip? That's not good, you should've flashed the cw2.5 .img file. No, you don't have to reroot or res-off, but download the .img file for the latest clockwork recovery on koush's website, for our device. Then, on your computer, while in fastboot mode and plugged into usb, type
fastboot flash recovery filename.img
obviously replacing filename.img with the actual file name/location.
Please help me figure this out...
I also cannot get into recovery mode. Here's my story:
I have a rooted (Supersonic EVT2-2 SHIP S-OFF; HBOOT-0.93.0000) EVO (I know that this is a MyTouch thread, but I couldn't find any similar issues at the EVO thread) that I'm running Warm 2.2 RLS 4 on. I have it set up the way that I wanted and it is running perfect (enough for me).
Yesterday, I caught a glimpse of the MIUI ROM that has an iPhone theme so I wanted to try it out. So, I used Titanium to back up my apps and data to my SD card (8GB with 3GB open). Then, I went to ROM Manager to back up my ROM. I saw that there was an update for the ClockworkMod Recovery so flashed it up to 3.0.0.5. Then I went to Backup Current ROM, kept the suggested name, and hit OK. After a few seconds, the Splash Screen briefly shows, the phone buzzes and then I'm on the initial Bootloader menu screen (with the three Androids at the bottom).
I highlight Bootloader, then I hit the Power button to go to the next set of menus, and the phone does it's checks. After the checks, I push the Volume Down button to go to Recovery, then hit the Power button. The splash screen (white HTC EVO 4G) shows again, the phone buzzes, and I'm back at the initial Bootloader screen.
Whether I use the Quick Boot app, the ROM Manager app, or the Power and Volume Down method, I cannot get past the Bootloader screen to get into Recovery. All I get is Splash, buzz, then the initial Bootloader. Warm 2.2 RLS4 is a nice stable ROM, but I am starting to feel limited, which is why I rooted the phone a few months ago.
Could someone PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZSSSSSSEEEEE help me with this? I am far from a comp engineer, but I can follow instructions pretty well.
Thanks a million!
njgoodfella2199: You're really going to be better off asking in the EVO forums. Good luck!
Yeah, we don't know much about the evo or how it works compared to our gsm phones. The way rom manager updates it may be different. You might be able to use the same solution, find the img file of the latest clockwork and fastboot flash it, but ask on the evo q&a.

Hello all:
I have a Galaxy Nexus CDMA version, that I have successfully unlocked but cannot root. When I type fastboot devices I get my phone serial number. When I type adb devices I get nothing. I looked everywhere and have tried everything that I know to do. From what I read I don't even need adb devices if I use the superboot method. I tried that, but any time I try anything it tells me that it is "downloading..._" and never leaves that, or it says something like failed (too many links). Does any body know what I can do or what I am doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.
I kept on typing the same command fastboot boot boot.superboot.img over and over again... it finally took one of the times I typed it. I hope it helps somebody. Also, it just stayed at the google screen and never passed it. I let it go for about 15 minutes, then pulled the battery and rebooted. I had root upon reboot. Hope this helps somebody.
The super boot root method is for 4.01. On 4.02 phone gets stuck at google logo, but it does work. The devs need to fix that.
Also as for your adb command, ADB only works when your phone is on and booted up in android. Adb does NOT work in fastboot.
