Rom v2.3.x vs v2.2.x - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hiya,
Pretty amazing after a couple of days getting the 3.0 (ARHD) theres a 4.0 out! So heres a newbie question.
Whats better about the 2.3 gingerbread compared to the 2.2 froyo?
What could likely be better when it has been tweaked? If question has been answered already, my apologies.
Thanks for reading.

[Q] Question about froyo roms...

Which have you guys found to be the most stable? By this I mean, which has wifi tether working and themed without too many issues? Just as a note I had been using Ava-v5 but there was no wifi and some of the widgets were going crazy. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
awesome
thanks for the input.
You gave people here a whole 3 hours and 15 minutes to respond to your question on a Sunday night. Your question has been asked quite a bit.
The usual answer is that there really is no best rom. The only way to find the really stable roms is to try a few out and see how they work out for you and then make up your own mind. Some people swear by CM6 and say all sense roms are ****. Others are the exact opposite and prefer having sense on their phone. It usually comes down to personal preference.
Stock rooted w/ King's Kernel, fricken sweet benchmarks!!
DC 3.5 with stock kernel rocks
Hmmm
I was hoping to get some of you guys say the same roms but that didnt happen. sense or senseless doesnt matter to me. i like the senseless but i have no beef with sense. so far i have tested a few and settled on omj 2.2 v3.0. so far nothing crazy with the widgets. thanks for the input.

what is the difference between king's kernel and toast's/netarchy's?
I've found BakedSnack to be incredibally stable, has everything working (i don't use tethering, but folks in the thread have confirmed it working) and his undervolted kernels rock.

[Q] Favorite Sense Kernel?

Wondering your favorite sense kernel and why it's better than others you've tried.
Thanks in advance.
Please post this in the Q & A section, we don't need the Android Development section any more cluttered up than it already is.
im sure this will get moved to Q&A but ill answer here anyway. depends on what you are looking for. performance vs battery. im using lous #8 right now. its really smooth and snappy. everything seems to work fine with it. it plays nice with my warm z beta4. and the battery life is better than when i used ziggys 12.19 imo.

[q] which rom?

After rooting my HTC Desire i thought i had done the hard bit.
After reading the mountains of info; about Roms I dont know if I am any wiser, confused maybe. As a Newby to this i have a great deal to learn, I am after some guidance with peoples reccomendations as to which ROM is best for me.
I think i want -Stability, more than anything as Much as the latest Android updates, thanks for any suggestions
If stability is priority fo you and you want bug-free ROMs, I'd reccomend to try Froyo ROMs. Gingerbread ROMs are stable, as well, but bugs occur in them - not big ones, but still.
And for the ROMs - Insertcoin HD/ RCMixHD / LeeDroid/ Starburst - take your pick, all good

CyanogenMod. I still run their RC3 and considering I've never had any issues large enough to complain about, I never bothered to upgrade to their current release
Thanks for the Quick reply, will take on board
Thanks for the quick reply, reads well
Honestly though, if you look at the desire forum, it gives you a good idea which ROMs have the most amount of issues. Although a lot are caused by noob errors
GB: InsertCoin / RCMix
Froyo: Leedroid
In the last few days I have tried all the major gb roms(rcm, insertcoin, reflex etc), all of them have been stable but not fast enough. I think that may be due to the fact that there is currently no stock rom for desire gb. I would recommend leedroid 2.4.1. Its very fast and stable. I will switched to a gb rom once the official software has been released.

Sense 2.1 ROM?

Will there be (or is there) a sense 2.1 port out there that is available for the og evo? I know of mikg but that is a mix of 2.1 & 3.0. Would sense 2.1 run any better then 3.0? 3.0 is very laggy on my evo. Thoughts, answers? Tia.

Up until last week I've ran MikG 2.6-3.11 for the last few months with NO problems at all. It is fast and rock solid stable.
Aside from Themes the install was 100% stock with no lag and great battery life. I've tried several ROM's but I keep going back to MikG.
In the last week or so I've been running ODJDub HD Express X Sense 3.0 and it's also smooth running with no lag.

MikG IS a Sense 2.1 ROM. The only Sense 3.0 thing about it is the Lockscreen. So, to answer your question, that's the best it gets .

[Q] ROM Advice for Non-Tech Phone

Hi All,
My wife lives her Desire Z, but she is pretty tired of the slow crash-prone Stock ROM.
Can the community please recommend a good ROM:
Stable
Sense is good, but not required. She is used to Sense...
Speed is not the most important. Stability is.
She is not very technical, and will not tinker...
Thanks!

Sensei by Coolos. It's Sense 4 lite, based on Ice Cream Sandwhich 4.0.x, and it's fast, stable, and smooth. One I keep going back to. I should have a link to it in my signature, I'm too lazy to find the link currently .-.
Thanks a lot, will have a look!
