I just flashed CM6.1 on my fiancee's DInc. Everything is working fine except when I try and access Settings->Sound, it force closes. I've tried running ClockworkMod Fix Permissions, but it doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?
I had the exact same issue in cm7. There is an easy solution. Goto settings>applications>manage>all>settings(the app) and choose clear data. Next reboot your phone and all is good.

Thanks! That did it.

HTC evo phone force closes/stopped unexpectedly when attempting to call *2. The bigger problem is after crashing, 3g and data connection go offline for 15 seconds and the entire UI (adw) gets sluggish for a good minute.
Any known fixes?

I'm getting the same crash now. I dialed fine before root, now I'm on rooted 2.2. Was there any fix?
Yes
I had this problem for awhile guys. When you rooted did you wipe your cache and dalvik cache? Try that first if it doesn't work try the newest king kernel I'm currently doing so and now longer have the issue. Make sure you wipe the two caches when you switch kernels.
Go into the folder fresh removed apps on your sd card and reinstall the Sprint Zone. apk.*2 for customer service requires that app to be installed.

I'm hoping someone can help.
Recently I started having troubles with my evo.
I am able to download apps from the market but they get stuck "installing".
This happened on Fresh 3.1
I then wiped and installed cm6 and again, same problem. On both I tried killing the downloader service as well as the market. I cleared the market data but could not clear its cache because it was stuck computing.
I tried installing apps from titanium backup and it gets stuck at 0%.
I then used another installer I got from when I installed tweet deck. It's an installer meant to allow you to install apk's received in emails.
That also got stuck.
Un installing also doesn't work. Gets stuck.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I'm at a loss.

Hit cancel in the market and redownload. I find myself in the same position. Sometimes hangs on download or install..

Can't cancel, the button says "installing" and it is greyed out.

It started working. It's strange since it didn't work across different roms.

This has happened to me, sometimes it will install later after canceling the download. But I really think it has to do with titanium, not sure why, but I stopped using it and never have the problem anymore. I am good with starting fresh each time as long as I have my contacts saved to the sdcard.
It might be titanium..
I couldn't leave well enough alone..
I flashed cm6 back onto my phone then ran titanium.
At 16/100 app installs...the phone froze and rebooted. It wouldn't boot back into cm6.
I got stuck at the EVO splash.
I reflashed cm6 back on after wiping it, this time without the snap kernel, and the problem is back.. :\
If this ever happens again go to the /download directory on your memory card and you'll find the apk. You can then install from that. This happened to me a few times.
I'm not sure what you're referring to..but the installer doesn't work either way.
I tried installing some apk's I have in my sd card and the installer gets stuck at "installing" with the little bar under it continuously moving.
I have CM7 RC1.5, nightly 2 and my widgets will work for about a week, then randomly, with nothing else added or downloaded, Launcher Pro will randomly FC after i wake the phone and from there on out, the message "problem loading widget" appears where every widget was, and i have to re-add my widgets...
Anyone else have this happening, or have a fix for it?
Thank you.
Try fix permissions in rom manager and also reboot to recovery and wipe the dalvik cache and you should be good to go. I had this issue a while ago and those steps fixed it for me.

Give the phone plenty of time after a reboot. LP will force close if a lot of other programs are trying to start up. That fixed my problems with LP.

LP would FC and mess the widgets up while the phone had already been on half the day, not after a reboot
Every time I reboot my phone and get to my home screen I get a force close on any launcher i'm using (LPP ADW EX etc)
I have to force close it usually just twice then everything works fine with LPP. ADW EX I can't even use because it force closes constantly. Any idea what would cause it to always FC when I reboot?

Try using rom manager to fix permissions or wipe cache/dalvik cache from recovery.

I've already done that. Did it through recovery too.
Are you on CM7 by chance? This usually happens because LPP is trying to access the sd card while the system is still trying to load it. For some reason unlike Froyo Gingerbread takes forever to load the sd card, if you let it sit for a couple of seconds or hit the wait button it will usually fix itself.

yea i'm on CM7. thanks for the answer
I am having a problem where the stock MMS (messaging) app closes every time I try to run it. I get a force close message on boot up and each time I try to run it I hangs for a minute and then force closes. I think this may be related to my attempt to restore my MMS history from my previous phone (using Titanium) as I just switched to the E4GT from the Epic 4G this week. I was able to get the data to migrate fine at first and then at some point the old messages disappeared from the app and then after I rebooted the app just force closed.
While I would like to get those old messages back, the bigger problem is that I cannot seem to fix the force closes. I have tried:
Clearing app data
Using root explorer to paste in a copy of stock messaging app into system/apps
Using a clockwork mod flashable zip I found of the stock app and installing it in CWM and wiping dalvik and cache
None of this has any effect.
Any other thoughts about what I could do short of going back to stock with Odin? FYI, I am running EG30-Stock-deodexV3-withCIQ along with LoStKernel-1.0.2.4
Must be a Samsung thing. This just started today for me on my epic 4g.
