Unrooted my Evo now the camera doesn't work... - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I unrooted my evo the other day after I got the Atrix. So today I decided to pull it out and do a little comparison type stuff. When I went to open my camera, it was just a blank black screen. It was also a blank black screen when I opened the camcorder app as well. I did a factory reset but that didn't fix the issue either. Anyone has any ideas?

Check hardware version. Some 004 models I've notice have been having camera issues. It the camera hardware its self. Un root and return to service center for repair.

G2 screen broken now lights sensors don't work

I have a tmobile g2 that was dropped from about 3 ft, the screen had to be replaced, but now the accelerometer, proximity sensor, and light sensor do not work at all. I've tried wiping, factory data reset, and even dismantled it to see any obvious damage..and there's none. I'm on cm6.1 now and have used the stock rom also. Any suggestions???

I knew this one was a doosie noone has an answer for it, not even tmobile or htc techs

Try going to cyanogenmod settings--user interface--automatic backlight--use custom--edit other levels
Then look at the raw value at the top of the screen and see if you can make it change by putting it under different lighting.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 running Cyanogenmod.
If T-Mobile replaced the screen on the phone, why not inform them of all these problems so they replace the phone completely?
I had the screen replaced by a repair shop...good idea I'll chk the cm settings...does anyone know where the accelerometer is in the phone? I don't see how it could be damaged and it not be obvious when I look inside of the phone.

I checked in cm settings-ui-auto backlight-edit and the raw values at the raw values don't change with the light conditions..is that most likely hardware or software related?

The level shows at -1

Camera issue

Has anybody else had an issue with the camera view having multi colored lines and the it freezes. Sometimes if I do it fast enough I can take the picture and it looks great. I am all stock btw and it has been doing this straight out of the box.

Clear data on camera app and let me know if it continues
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
yeah, it still continues after i clear data. tried a factory reset and it still continues. just rooted and im gonna install another rom to see it my factory camera app was somehow corrupted. i dont think its a hardware issue, but i guess we will find out.
Edit: Still does it. If i force stop the camera app after it freezes and try to reopen it, it will just pop up with the camera symbol then instantly close.

Try a different camera app perhaps?
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
Sounds like a software issue i would root and try a different camera app like knipp suggested you could also try adb pushing a new camera app if you dont want to root but keep a backup of your original if you go that route. Or try one from the market im not positive but I think they may rely on the stock app
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
If it's still doing it with another ROM it's a hardware issue and you need to return while under warrentee still.
The ones from the market dont work, i do think that they rely on the stock camera. besides the ones from the market, i dont know what to try.
Edit: I did try 2 different roms, one with stock kernel and one with custom kernel and it still does it. Guess im gonna have to unroot and bring it back to Verizon. Would they give me a new one right there or do you think i would have to wait for them to mail me another one, i bought it brand new and have only had it since friday. Been doing this right out of the box.
They will most likely mail you a new one with a box to mail the Old one back in

I am very pleased with my local Verizon store today. I went in and told them the problem and without any hassle they opened up their cabinet and handed me a brand new box. Camera works great on this one and I am a happy camper.
Edit: they also gave me a $50 mail in rebate on top of the discounts that I already got online.

Off and on camera

A while back my phone got wet at the beach and my camera went out later that day. It came back after months and then went out again. When I open the camera app the white logo pups up but then it closes. Any advice on a fix?

Better consider getting a new phone. If that white logo came up and no camera work that means the hardware is malfunctioning. Sorry.

Blue piksel on pictures.

Hi, some time ago I have found a blue pixel on my Note`s pictures. When I started camera it was there, in the same place. Visible on the camera and on the pictures taken.
I have unrooted and restarted phone; pixel gone.
Today, after few days it is back!!!!
Can I get rid of that without giving phone to repair?!?!

Thanks

Quickly go to the service center. If youre in warranty theyll change within one day. I had a similar problem except I had a diifused black spot whcih appeared only when i started camera. They changed my camera module and returned on the very same day. Good luck.

Try using another camera app, if still there, it might be a camera hardware issue, so you might have to use your warranty

Hi, I have spoke to the Carphone's member and been told 14 days to repair!!!! Grrr....
I have just tried different camera app and blue pixel is there...
I have opened this thread just because it has gone after rebooting so i thought it might be software problem. But it looks like it is not.
I am gonna take it to the shop and let them send phone ti repair.
Thank You for Your help!

Camera Troubles..

So my camera seems to have stopped working properly. I don't believe it's a software issue. What happens is I fire up the camera and the screen will either remain black (while still being able to navigate camera options) or the camera will pop up and then the viewfinder will stop after a few seconds.
At first I figured it was software so I cleared the cams cache and data. No luck. Then I decided to flash a different ROM. I tried CM, and Dans GPE rom and no luck. Anyone got any ideas?
You could try replacing the back facing camera.
I did this on my last s4. (Ordered an oem part off a different s4).
It didn't fix my problem, however. At the time people were telling me it was a software problem.
In my case flashing some of the cyanogen nightlies when they were having some trouble with the company that makes the focal camera.
Long story short.
I called T-Mobile. They sent me another s4.

There are camera options in the play store that can verify if it's hardware or software.

In play store search "google camera ",try installing and run. If it functions profit, if not then it most likely is hardware related.
