Problems with SYNC to Outlook - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi
I'm having some problems with syncing my HTC calendar with Outlook. At first sync went fine, since i rooted my desire the HTC Sync seems to go through the process of syncing but my Outlook calendar hasn't been updated when i initiate an meeting from the phone , when i initiate an meeting in the outlook it will sync to the phone no problem and then if i do a change / delete the same meeting in the phone it will cange / delete the outlook.
Conclution only a meeting initiated in the phone dose not sync to outlook.
Any suggestions ? (My computer is running Windows xp outlook 2003.)
Thanks

HTC Sync problems
i used HTC sync and it only syncs in one direction. It syncs calendar entries from Outlook PC to HTC Desire, but not vice versa.
I have raised a call with HTC, but it has fallen into a black hole.
They suggested using the Google Calendar Sync, but now my phone only allows me to add netrie sto phone, noty googlemail account. I cannt work out how to reset this. It used to give me 3 options (Phone, googlemail, and Sync)
I hv installed Google Calendar Sync for Outlook application in my pc, u can set up for "two way", "outlook to google" or "google to outlook". I use it in two way option enabled and working perfectly, when i create an entry with my phone it is reflecting in outlook and vice versa. (auto synch active, google selected)

...except one thing; entries created as rich text/html mode in body section cannot be reviewed in the HTC calendar, but I dont care coz I'm not using it for business, for private use it is more than enough imho.

You should have taken a look at MyPhoneExplorer a free alternative to HTC Sync.

Problems with Outlook sync

I'm having some problems with syncing my HTC calendar with Outlook. the first sync seemed to go fine, but now HTC Sync seems to go through the process of syncing and then reports success, but my Outlook calendar hasn't been updated.
Any suggestions on what I can do? (My computer is running Windows 7 Home edition.)
Many thanks,
Joe
problems with outlook sync
Looking at it using the manual settings, it seems to me the HTC Sync isn't set up for Windows 7 -- it's looking for outlook folders where they're not. Any thoughts on how to remedy this?
Joe
From reading the Desire sync file, it may be that the problem is that it's syncing the Calendar with the All Users Personal Folder (which I can't find) rather than the Joe F folder.
Any thoughts on either where the all users Personal Folder is, or how I can get Sync to find the folder where my calendar is stored?
Joe
HTC Sync sucks...
I have also had problems with HTC Sync. It´s not very riliable.
I have made a G-Mail account and then installed: CompanionLink
I have setup companionlink to auto sync my calendar and contacts from outlook every 15 minutes.
You just setup the phone to sync with g-mail and it works like a charm without having to use cable and think about it.
this maybe not what youre looking for but it´s a solution that works

I hadn't heard of companionlink but I'd inadventently discovered that when I synced my gmail my calendar was synced to the gmail calender. I'll add companionlink and have a complete solution.

[Q] How to sync with Outlook

Have installed Defrost (open desire ROM)
I want to sync my phone with my PC (Outlook, contacts, calendar)
I know that I can not use HTC sync with this ROM which I really really like (the ROM)
Does any body know a solution????
Most important is that I can sync calendar!
Thanks in advance
I installed Google Calendar Sync on my PC.
It hooks into Outlook and synchronizes your outlook calendar with your Google account calendar. The sync can be 1 way (from either PC or phone) or 2 way.
All you need is your phone to have an 3G or WIFI connection to update.
Only downside to this is that it does not do contacts and email

How to delete PC Sync Calendar?

I'm having a spot of bother with syncing my Desire with Outlook, using HTC Sync 2. I am trying to use the 'Repair' option to delete and replace the 'PC Sync' calendar, as duplicate entries keep popping up, but it never seems to fully replace the calendar. When I try to delete the PC Sync calendar on the phone itself, the option doesn't appear, only the 'My Name' calendar. I am wary of HTC Sync, because I once managed to delete all of my contacts and calendars from the PC using it, but luckily had a backup on my HD2. Is there any way to fully delete the PC Sync calendar on the Desire?
Thanks.
I came to so much grief with HTC Sync I uninstalled it and now use MyPhoneExplorer which is working ok for me at the moment.
Oh, I thought that was only for Sony Ericsson phones. I'll have to give that a try. In the meantime, I created a blank calendar on Outlook, and did a repair sync with HTC Sync 2, and that wiped the calendar on the Desire, so I could start afresh.
