any 2.3 roms that aren't based off cm7? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Like the title says...
I want to try a rom with the stock 2.3 launcher and I don't feel like learning to compile my own rom. Seriously, ADW launcher is the deal breaker for me when it comes to cyanogen roms. I hate ADW more than I hate HIV. Anywho if anyone can point me in the right direction, i would appreciate it very much

Use CM7 with a stock Gingerbread launcher. Ive been doing that for awhile now, using a stock Nexus S Gingerbread launcher on CM7.

Or you can just use Launcher Pro instead.

Type gingerbread launcher in the market. Download one. Then remove adw.

thank you to everyone for the quick response, didn't even know I could just flash a stock launcher.

[Q] Evo 4G stock Froyo ROM?

Is their a Stock Froyo ROM for the Evo out there. I have tried CM6 but it is not completely stock, it has ADW launcher built into the ROM. I want a completely stock Froyo ROM. If their is one out their can someone please provide me with a link. If their is not one someone should make one asap, I am willing to donate. I just hate sense so much
ADW is part of AOSP now as far as I know. You can always change out the launcher if you don't like it.

You can flash emerald 1.1.1 great in the forums or you can replace adw launcher in cm6 with the stock one.....

[Q] Best Launcher for CM7???

hey people,
i was just wondering... i like my cm7 rom, but i do get bored quickly of the desktop and the same old routes to things.. i always like to change around when i like.
any ideas? screenshots or links will help
thanks a bunch for any help!!!
I use launcherpro, which I paid for a long time ago. I wish touchwiz wasn't exclusive to samsung, because I really starting liking it on my vibrant before I got my G2.
I do NOT like zeam or adwlauncher that comes with CM7. I end up installing lancherpro and use titanium backup to uninstall adwlauncher.
One good thing with LauncherPro does that any other launcher doesn't is the unread gmail count on the home screen.
So, if I had my pick, I would pick TouchWiz, but since I can't use it for my G2, then I'm stuck with my second choice 'LauncherPro'

Using LauncherPro now but looking into that Launcher 7, looks interesting, highly customizable.
LauncherPro
cheers for all your replies i will thank you all !!
okay well im gonna do a nandroid backup, install launcher pro and use titanium to uninstall adw... you gotta love titanium backup!!!
then if i dont like it i can always revert back using clock work mod!
i may also try that launcher 7, but ill hang fire and read some reviews
cheers everyone!!
Touchwiz launcher has been ripped from galaxy s phones and works very good on my g2. I really didn't like it much though, so I use adw ex or gingerbread launcher2.apk from nexus s roms. Those 2 are super smooth.
Adw that comes with CM is slower than the others, but if you download adw notifier (free on market), you can get the unread popup on the icon. LP is cool, but I find ex and gingerbread launchers more.

How about the Stock Gingerbread Launcher from the Nexus Phones?
cheers guys ive thanked you all, i have gone with the launcher pro, but im gonna do a nandroid backup and try all of them
thanks!!
defiantly try the stock luncher if you are any type of purist. yea it removers theme chooser but just open the cm7 zip file and you can extract the apk files out if you want them. i really dont care. the only thing i miss from adw is the swipe anywhere on the screen options. and the hide status bar. but i think that launcher is the best so its a small price to pay. i also miss custom icons. but once again. speed and stability is more important to me.
I paid for LauncherPro a while ago, but GO Launcher is slowly starting to win me over.

For me, ADW EX is the way to go, hands down. It's worth the $3.
I personally do not like all of the things that come with EX, I have a themed version of the Gingerbread Launcher. It's themed for the guy's theme who is above me =p
When im on cm7 I use ADW with the DroidX theme. Looks great!

Adw ex FTW. also go Laucher is pretty sweet, but adw is flawless with performance

Id say ADWex.. but if your lookin for somethin completely different.. then launcher7.. its smooth, nice, and customer tiles are easy to make. its been what I've been stuck on lately..

I personally love GO Launcher. It is sort of a cross between ADW EX and Launcher Pro, with some new and different things as well. It's also extremely stable, which is something I can't say about Launcher Pro (at least that was the case last year when I used it heavily).
Try android seven pro if u are into windows... some may not like the thought of windows on a linux device but its good for something different. I bounce between adw ex launcher7 and android seven because I get bored easily

nexus s launcher

I'm sure dev's know why, but why does the nexus/aosp gingerbread launcher look lowres/fuzzy on ef02. I love that launcher. I know that marcusant was able to fix it, but didn't really say how he was able to, he just had it in his rom. I am worn out with launcher pro. I know it has more features, but after having htc sense, and then touchwiz... I now enjoy the bare minimum.
---BUMP---
Use this... Works on 2.3.4 ROMs, but i haven't tested any 2.3.3.

GoLauncher EX does the same thing and is probably smoother

This is understood, but the topic is Nexus S Launcher, and there's a fix for it, so i reposted.
Thanks though...

Go Launcher

So i am a big fan of the Go Dev Team and i been looking around and i cant find anything on it. But is there a ROM that uses Go Launcher as a launcher or somthing like that? I dont know much about Root or ROMs
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium
Typically roms offer either stock Sense 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 or stock AOSP froyo/gingerbread launchers. You have to install Go Launcher once you flash a rom if you prefer it. It's unlikely that a third party launcher is included in any rom on the Inc by default with the exception of ADW or even Launcherpro.

[Q] Regarding launchers and ICS

Hello DZ community.
I would like some insight on the ICS launchers.
Currently, I'm using MIUI with ADW EX and I'm happy with it. I am considering upgrading to ICS due to the aokp tablet-UI rom that's been released and I would like to know, does ADW EX work with ICS? Also, do the current ICS launchers offer anything more than adw does?
Thank you very much for your responces.
I believe ADW has been updated to work on ICS. Nova Launcher has been absolutely amazing for me though, check it out on the market. There is a paid version that unlocks a few more features, but the free version is pretty customizable.
Thank you for the response, glad to hear it works with ICS. About Nova, could you please tell me (if you know of course) if it offers anything extra than ADW EX?
+1 for Nova! To the OP, read the Nova thread and the posts out there that review it.
