nexus s launcher - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm sure dev's know why, but why does the nexus/aosp gingerbread launcher look lowres/fuzzy on ef02. I love that launcher. I know that marcusant was able to fix it, but didn't really say how he was able to, he just had it in his rom. I am worn out with launcher pro. I know it has more features, but after having htc sense, and then touchwiz... I now enjoy the bare minimum.

---BUMP---

Use this... Works on 2.3.4 ROMs, but i haven't tested any 2.3.3.

evo rom like nexus one??

hey guys im a noob here but i have searched all over..
im looking for a nexus one froyo rom for the evo...
i want evenything to stay the way it is i just want the launcher like the nexus one and the main menu to look like the nexus one froyo.
i know launcher pro has it but i cant add htc widgets to it..
any advice would be appreciated.
CM6 (cyanogen)
o you can't have the htc widgets without sense so if thats what you're really looking for you're stuck using sense. thats the only launcher that allows those widgets

Just out of curiosity, which sense widgets can't you live without?
The thing with cyanogen is that it uses ADW launcher.. some fav it. some dislike it.. i personally dislike it, ill rather have basic 2.2 launcher like the nexus one.

Ohhh, give it a shot.. you might like it.. I like, MUCH better than the sense crap. You can use it with Cyano.
I like Zeam launcher.
It's light weight and crazy fast.
And it's home cooked by an xda modder!

It's not about the rom, it's about wanting a home application that isn't Sense to be able to use Sense's widgets. The standard Nexus One launcher is included in even the stock rom, but you won't be able to load Sense's widgets onto it.
I have one recommendation, check out LauncherPro Plus. It comes with some of its own awesome widgets. They are honestly as good as Sense's calendar, people, bookmarks, and messages widgets. In fact, they look almost too much like a direct copy. You can scroll inside of them and even resize them. If those are the ones you want to keep, LauncherPro is what you want. In every other way, it is much like the stock launcher on Nexus One.
You will lose Friend Stream, but there are other widgets that can approximate that.
I reread your post. You asked for a Nexus One main screen and launcher. By main screen, do you mean the lockscreen? The one you have to drag your finger on to unlock your phone? If not, the home screen and list of programs are both handled by the launcher.
Here is what I would recommend:
Rom:
Cyanogen Mod 6 - It will make all of the menus and applications feel just like what you get on Nexus One.
Apps:
Fancy Widget - It looks and feels exactly like the HTC weather & clock widget that is the default on the main screen.
LauncherPro Plus - CM6 comes with ADW Launcher, which is pretty close to the vanilla Nexus One launcher, but LauncherPro Plus has its own widgets that look and function almost exactly like HTC's widgets.

I think you may want to clarify exactly what you want. As far as I understood the opening question, it was pretty well answered.
Currently CM6 is the only ROM that is not based on the HTC Sense stock ROM. It is instead based on the open source Android code, just like the Nexus One. There are a few tweaks that Cyanogen has added, like some extra settings, different boot screen, and some cosmetic tweaks. It also uses ADW launcher by default.
However you could just install the stock launcher on cyanogen mod, and other than the settings widget having blue highlights, you are pretty much at stock.
There is no way to use the HTC Sense widgets with anything besides the Sense launcher.
If all you care about is the launcher and lock screen, you can install just about any 2.2 rom, remove htclockscreen from /app/system, install the stock launcher, and you are done. In that case you would still have the HTC messaging, browser, calendar, etc.

[Q] Launchers

I haven't rooted my INC 2, and don't see the need for it yet. I just want to know if anyone has tried a different launcher on their INC 2 besides sense.

launcher pro for me. much better dock options than sense.
i used Launcher Pro for the longest time(always hated Sense). i recently decided to give Go Launcher EX a try and use the Honeycomb theme for it. it's very similiar to Launcher Pro just a bit more stylish.
I have LPP, ADW and Go Launcher all installed and freeze all of them except the one I'm using at the time and all of them work great on the Dinc2, imo.
I am getting to be very fond of Sense though and the widgets and bells and whistles are nice sometimes.

Go Launcher is probably the best one out there right now.

Which launcher do you prefer using cm7?

Hi everybody! After a while with stock rooted and modded sense, I decided to switch to cm7. But the launcher that comes with this Rom (adw launcher) is slow on my desire... so what launcher do you use or do you suggest to me?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Launcher Pro (my favorite) or Zeam.
Really its a question of which launcher on AOSP.
I Prefer Go Launcher.
Launcher Pro
or QQ Launcher for the MIUI look
Zeam is the most simple, with good customizations + it has the smoothness a launcher should have...worth trying
Hi guys I tried zeam launcher for the first time. As you say is very simple and light... but it seems to have some lag in the app drawer especially in horizontal mode, don't you think? Also tried QQ launcher but too laggy too... what about adw launcher EX that's completely different from adw launcher in cyanogen?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
GO Launcher EX is nice if you want speed, nice animated widgets and miui like interface. LauncherPro is still the fastest but its not updated a while so my opinion is if you want free good launcher try GO Launcher EX...
Launcher Pro is still a good choice if you want a stable and responsive launcher. There haven't been any updates for a while, but on the other hand it's quite finished and there's not much left to be desired.
Hmm, see even though I have LP Pro (all fully paid for) I dont use it. I find Go is Much smoother for me.
Espier Launcher FTW (though the iPhone look may piss some hardcore Androiders)
Herpderp Defy.
I use the Arc Launcher v2 posted by slither2006
It's just fast and the built-in folder management is quite useful.

C'mon.
What is your favourite Launcher? != Which launcher do you prefer using cm7?
I don't think so. Unless you can disprove me, this is beyond idiotic...

Totally agree. Go Launcher works better than LP on your rom, even though it's just a little.

I'm quite sure that Apex is ICS only.
ADW launcher is the best for me, simply and fast! I don't like Go Launcher, but I don't know why

Don't forget Go Launcher EX and all the ICS launchers in the market. Look for the ICS launcher made by ACS. That one is very good.
Mi nuh tek intimidation...
Without a doubt, GoLauncher EX! Then get yourself GoSmS Pro and GoKeyboard with all the plug-ins. Go Launcher has a pretty nice ICS theme...
Edit: You can always youtube these recommended launchers to help give you a better idea.
Here's a link to a GoLauncher video

You know, I have to admit, Go Launcher LOOKS great... but I *ALWAYS* have a lag when swiping from screen to screen.
I never seem to get screen lag with ADW or Launcher Pro.
I like the stock ICS launcher, actually.

hmmmm. I experience no lag. Wasn't a big fan of ADW (maybe just too many cm7 roms) I was a big LP guy for the longest time, wouldn't give anything else a chance. Then I made the switch to GLEX. This runs on all of my devices...
On gb I liked tw launcher
On ics I'm using move because the pics version is missing a few features (choosing home screen and alphebeyical app drawer)

Nova on ICS
Go Launcher Ex (for now)

[Q] Regarding launchers and ICS

Hello DZ community.
I would like some insight on the ICS launchers.
Currently, I'm using MIUI with ADW EX and I'm happy with it. I am considering upgrading to ICS due to the aokp tablet-UI rom that's been released and I would like to know, does ADW EX work with ICS? Also, do the current ICS launchers offer anything more than adw does?
Thank you very much for your responces.
I believe ADW has been updated to work on ICS. Nova Launcher has been absolutely amazing for me though, check it out on the market. There is a paid version that unlocks a few more features, but the free version is pretty customizable.
Thank you for the response, glad to hear it works with ICS. About Nova, could you please tell me (if you know of course) if it offers anything extra than ADW EX?
+1 for Nova! To the OP, read the Nova thread and the posts out there that review it.
