[Q] Bravo & Brovo c whats the difference? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi,
Bravo & Brovo c whats the difference?

Bravo is the 'normal' GSM Desire which requires a SIM card to work
Bravo C is the CDMA Desire which is locked to a single provider and doesn't use a SIM card

Also, CDMA = USA and GSM = Europe. Not sure what the rest of the world use - GSM I think?
(Ok, I stand corrected following the below posts )

This is the right answer I presume.

The US had GSM, and China, Japan, and Korea have CDMA (and they have GSM).

Change A8181 to A8182 or A8183 - posible?????

Hi
Is it possible that I can change from model A8181 to A8182 via Software
Want use my european HTC Desire in Canada on Bell network
Please help me
ng xeno
My Desire (A8181) is now reported as a Desire HD (A9191) in the "About Phone" after flashing a Desire HD ROM. However, the model is still listed as "bravo" in some of Properties screen (e.g. in Quick System Info Pro).
I doubt it is possible. You can use your phone on the bell network you just wont get 3G.
I have used my UK HTC Desire on a Fido SIM with no problems. However, as Fido do not allow a data plan on a pre-pay SIM with a non-Fido supplied phone, I cannot tell if mobile data would work.

even if you could change the model number with software, it would be futile, you would still have a A8181 desire, so any H/W limitations with us networks would remain

[Q] CDMA and GSM?

hello
i want to know whats mean Desire CDMA and GSM ? i dont know my desire which one?
its depend on may carrier?
thanks
GSM use SIM cards to provide a service
CDMA are provided by a provider and can only used on that provider
thank u very much now i got it , then my desire is GSM.
You wanna know it because you are going to flash a custum rom I think?
When you are going to flash CyanogenMod for example you have to download the Desire Bravo, that one is for GSM.
I also have the Desire (GSM).
Good Luck
Just a very quick question, are they both share the same Radio? I mean when we refresh the radio, we do not need to care about if it is GSM or CDMA?
No they don't so don't even try it

No. Devices are too different to make that possible even if it was physically manageable to do what you ask for.

[Q] is HTC_622 a CDMA or GSM variant?

Hi everyone, I have an HTC M8 with cid HTC_622 (Asia-HK-CHT). It doesn't seem branded and works with any SIM card.
Is it a CDMA or GSM variant? Is there a way I can check?
I haven't found a clear answer so far and some guides here only work for GSM variants and vice versa... Any help would be appreciated.
It sounds GSM what country are you from
GSM with the 2.5GHz processor. Works fine with the 401 firmware.

Thanks for the quick reply. I bought it in Lebanon.
Is there an app or command I can run to make sure?
