Specs: rooted G2 running cm7 rc1 nightly build.
For some reason I just rebooted my G2 and I'm getting a error message "SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem" When I click Format nothing happens! D:
Help please xD
sorry for this mods
*bump*
Remove the card, use an adapter and place it into a card reader on your computer, then reformat the card to FAT32, then replace it into your phone and reboot.

Today I installed the rom called Pirate rum. But now I can't mount my SD card. I tried booting into recovery to flash another rom. But not even clockwork can mount it.
I have tried using a cardreader in my computer. It reads the card fine.
I then backed up files and formatted the card, but it's still unreadable.
Also tried another card.
Are there anyone who might be able to help?

does the device read your sim card? it sounds like a usb brck if, its happening with more than one card
It reads the sim card. It's the SD card which doesn't work...
Also tried with amon ra.
I got it!
It was usb bricked. I remembered a tutorial from modaco, and fixed it.
Thanks Androhero. (For making me think it could be that. )
My SD CARD recently has been giving me some issues. It has worked fine since I got the phone in Aug 2010. I went to access my pictures yesterday and as they started popping up, an SD card picture popped up and said please insert SD card. No pictures could be accessed. I went to phone and SD storage and it said my SD card was unmounted. I went to mount it when I saw this, pressed mount, started to mount and stopped all of a sudden. Now I have an icon of an SD card with a question mark in my taskbar. The message says" SD card damaged. You may have to reformat it." When I go to reformat it, it gives me the message "external media in unknown state". Any ideas?

Because you need to give us more than 3 hours to help you. Being impatient and bumping your thread like this makes people NOT want to help you.
i wish someone could please help me with this issue because its also happening to me, it happend twice already on two different sd cards, i even took the sd card out and put it into my Samsung Epic but still it says the sd card is blank . please help
I used to get this message way back in June 2010 when I first bought my Evo. It happened exactly as you are describing. I thought my SD card was bad. So I moved all my contents to my PC, formatted the SD card, then moved the contents back. It may have been coincidence, but it helped, for a little while, and then the exact same problem returned.
All this happened before I had ever rooted. I then rooted my phone, installed a custom rom, and have never had the problem again, even though it was the exact same SD Card.
Are either of you who are having this problem currently rooted? Or are you both stock? If you are stock, you could try rooting, and installing the stock rom. If you aren't comfortable with that, then try formatting the card, and if you have a spare microSD try that just to troubleshoot it. If you get the same result with a different card that you know is good, that will narrow it down to being related to software on the phone.

I had a similar issue, I reformatted my memory card, and the problem has not returned. It has been seven months since then.
If you are formatting it on a mac, make sure that you set the partition type correctly to MBR (Master Boot Record)
Tonight I have been having problems with my SD card, anytime I try and download a file to it, I get the error "SD card unexpectedly removed" and then I can't access the SD card at all until I reboot
Any help appreciated. I'm running miui freshly squeezed with a class 10, 16 GB card

Back up everything you have in your SD card.
I had that same symptom once. After a few reboot I lost the SD card. It became unreadable/unformatted.
So, just in case. Back up your data first.

Cheers, done a bit more digging and its an issue for quite a lot of people. Backed up the card and using the standard 8gb that came with the phone. Ordered a new one too from play.com, as they are in the sale

I had the same problem unexpectedly too the other night. I took the SD card and via a usb adaptor I connected it to my Windows 7 computer. A window popped up asking if I want to scan and fix for errors or continue without scanning. I usually just continued without scanning when connecting my phone directly but this time I let it scan and fix. Low and behold once it finished the scan I tried it again in my phone and it mounted successfully. Ever since then I've had no further problems since either.

This happened to my 16gb mmc. Went on for a couple of months. I ignored it and mounted it manually. It died a couple weeks ago. I had no back up. Devo

Yup, same happened to me, lost everything on the memory card (though I had backups of the important stuff)
Same Problem
Guys i have been experiencing the same problem for some days now.
Found this post here; Was thinking the problem has been solved over here, but you all are reporting your problem.
Any there anyway this problem can be fixed or as most of you mention. The lifespan of the card is getting close.
Or I should just prepare for a new sd card (which am not ready for now).
My Case here is kindda different because when i boot into recovery, the sd card shows up and works fine.
when i boot into android then it cant be found.
???
i have same problem with android 4.0.4 and sense 4+
i must be reset my phonee
my phone is HTC Desire 268. now for a little while my sd card did have a problem when i first brought it but it was fine afterwords but today after I restarted my phone, my phone again is getting problem with sd card the sd card mounts for a little time than it unmount ( giving the status "SD card unexpectedly removed"), then mount it self again and unmounts itself again. this happens 3 to 4 times before it competently unmounts and never mounts until i remove and add the sd card again and the cycle countinues. please can you help me.??
Hey guys umm lol when i was on mui I unmonted my sd card and formated it and tried to re mount it, when I did my phone froze and rebooted, only now it wont get past the white htc incredible screen, I tried flashing another rom they were still on my card, but same thing.
What should I do?
Backup your sd and then format it again fat32 with your pc and then move your files back. May have been a bad format last time, or your sdcard may be going out. Try another sd if you have one.
I'll try that thankyou I finally got it working after flashing a couple of roms

Do you have a micro sd card adapter for your computer? (A chip like thing or usb like this that you can put your sd card into so that your computer can read it.) If so, put it into the computer and if it doesn't read it you may have to format it. What all is on there that you want kept? Maybe I can help save a few things, because formatting requires deleting everything.
Devices:
EvoShift 4g: Cm7 or Jellybean 4.1!
Optimus S: Quattrimus AOKP (ICS)
Evo 4g: Gonna buy in near future!
I am working on becoming a dev!
Questions? PM me!

Take you SD card and put it in your computer, download a trial of Data Recovery Wizard and see if it can recover your files

If you're having issues mounting on multiple devices, you probably have a dead card.
Have you noticed any oddities for your SD storage in the past? (Perhaps missing or corrupt files, or maybe even your phone freezing once in a while when accessing files on the SD card)
As Whiplashh said, try the card using an external USB adapter with your computer. If it doesn't work there either, you probably have a dead card. Even if it does work there, I would highly recommend transferring everything off of it, and recreating the file system. I had a similar problem with my microSD card in the past, and I was only able to resurrect it twice before it completely died...
