[Q] z4 root with OTA Update?

My dad only roots his phone with z4 root for wireless tethering.
As you guys know, a new OTA update was released for HTC EVO's.
If my dad's EVO downloads the new OTA update, can he re-root his phone with z4 root?

Rooting T989 With SuperOneClick

Is it possible to root this phone with SuperOneClick?
I have the 2.3.1 version.
Also, all the roots are for CWM ... how about ODIN?
I mean, i just bought this phone. I had Galaxy S 4G. And after unlock i lost my IMEI.... So i am careful now.
Is there a nice clean way to root the phone using ODIN in PDA section?
Thanks.

If for some reason your looking to use Odin and root your phone using the pda slot you first need to know the letters and combine them. If your eyes don't betrayed there is one thread here in development. Yes the first couple of words in that thread are something about rooting

Thanks. But
1. This method is probably OK only with certain ROM's I do not want to risk my Phone. Also This method is not ODIN its CWM.
2. My question remains unansweed : Can I root using supeoneclick? I mean if i can then this way would be universal to any ROM. At least it was for SGS 4G.
Thank you guys for help.
You can use superone click on 2.3.5 but after the 2.3.6 update it doesnt work. There ya go.

I am sorry, but you probably have an error:
1. There is no superoneclick 2.3.5 ... the last one is 2.3.1
2. It does work for 2.3.6 on SGS 4G at least...
Have you tested it?
Thanks.

2.3.5 IS the last version of Android OS it works for on our device, not the version number of the program. Hit menu>settings>about phone and you will find you version number. If you are above version 2.3.5 SuperOneClick will not work. Hope that clears it up for ya !

OH OK.
So just to clear that up :
SOC will root 2.3.6 on SGS 4G, but not on SGS II ? interesting.
So how did you root yours? CWM via ODIN and then Installed the Zip file?
Will it work on my KL1 Official ROM?
Thank you all guys for your support.
I am new to SGS 2, my old SGS 4G i know from inside out... This one is different i gather.
Glad that got clarified. Yes i used odin and the flashed zip file. Very easy.

Yuppp...using Odin easy!! The only hard problem for me is getting a Windows 7 program to download and install onto my macbook pro and trying to get familiar with the what and what not to do!! But I have to say...it was easier rooting my Gs2 then it was trying to root the mytouch 4G.

The thing is almost all the ROMs to flash here are already rooted. On my latest GS2 (I have had 3) I just ran odin and flashed CWM, then installed my choice of rom. No rooting necessary, there are also stock rooted/debloated ROMs if you wanna stay as close to stock as possible
Zerg rush works really well as a one click rooter , then I used rommanager to flash cwm. Superoneclick is a nice app though

Hello there ! I just got SGSII with 2.3.6 and KL1 my question is this. Is anything changed because last reply was in 2011 and it's May 3, 2012 may be something new, easy, faster came out ? Basically my question is what is best way to Root my device right now. I am looking to put ICS on it. Any recommendations on both if possible.
Thank you very much.

[Q] Retaining the root after the JB update

Folks,
I have rooted by Samsung Galaxy S3 for At&T and currently run Android version 4.0.4.
I am considering upgrading my S3 to JB 4.1. Will my phone stay rooted after the upgrade. I most likely will go the official route of upgrade detailed below:
samsung.com/us/support/SupportOwnersFAQPopup.do?faq_id=FAQ00050358&fm_seq=55362
Are there any other better option to upgrade to JB 4.1?
Thanks,
Venkat

You could flash a rooted ROM (like Mr. Robinson's in the Development: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426)
