[Q] Help! No LED Lights / Phone not working with CM6 RC2

Hello,
I just recently flashed the lated CM6 RC2. I cannot receive incoming calls now, It will ring once or twice then go straight to my voicemail. I also have no LED notifications any longer.
The kernel version I have is 2.6.32.15-cyanogenmod
I tried flashing the evo radio to see if that would fix it but no go.
Any ideas? Flash a new kernel? Start over completey?
Thanks guys!
I would try starting over make sure you wipe everything and then reflash. Also if yuo use titanium back up ... yuo have to watch out on a few things since ther phone app etc are diffrent in asop i believe.
As an additional note. All Questions liek this should go in the Q&A forum.
Ahh, I did use titanium back up.. I wonder if I restored the wrong data?
I forgot to mention the text messages/email works just fine.
Sorry for posting in the wrong area (frantic for a minute over here)
So you think I should just start over and not use titanium restore, is there a certain batch I shouldn't restore that could of caused this?
Thanks!
I would wipe/reflash and see if it works before doing the restore. are you coming from a 2.1 rom? if so when you doa batch restore look for anything 2.1 (such as googletalk_update 2.1, checkinservice 2.1 etc etc etc. I would also uncheck camera, phone, and contacts.)
Once you verify it works pre restore then you can either restore removing the above and see if it continues to work if so then yay problem solved if not then you are still restoring something to mess it up.
CM6 is not a sense based rom so when you back up on a sense based rom you often get the sense versions of things that CM6 has the aosp version for which can cause issues when you restore if not careful.
I was coming from RC1, obviously 2.2. I will give that a shot.

Personally, when I flash a new froyo rom, I just let the market place download all my apps. And I use Titanium to restore specific apps that I want data for. Like Messaging, and my call history, and some games. Stuff like that. But I only full restore apps that I don't get from the market place, like swype, and wifi tether if I want it.

Ok, cool. Trying now.
Ok, After re-flashing It seems to be back to normal, but I still do not have the LED notifications I used to get for text/email or even charging.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Just try to full wipe and reinstall cm6 rc2 and see if that works
If not full wipe reinstall the cm6 but not the kernal yet tosee if it works fine with out the kernal
I am running the new cm6 rc2 with cm6 kernal v7.0
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Ok, I reinstalled everything with RC2 - I also installed the 7.0 kernel.. still no LED lights, weird... any suggestions?
Wow that is really wierd i have no clue it works very fine on mine i dont know to much i know its a lot of trouble but im guessing u could tryin everthing and install a rooted stock rom after the wipe and all and if the leds and all that work on the rooted stock then try the cm6 again if not the its thr phone but if it works on a rooted stock then try the cm6 again if no luck then ur sol
I really dont know anything else but ive messed aroung with tons of roms im tired of flashing i have found cm6 works best for me maybe someone that knoes a lil more can give more advice

[Q] Is it possible to pull the stock Swype apk from a stock ROM using adb?

Hey everyone,
I really miss having the old black Swype from my phone (more specifically, double-tapping to correct). Since the powers of Google have not turned this apk up... I'll have to get my hands dirty. Technically... since I already bought this device and am going to do this myself, I think the legality of the matter is okay.
Is it possible to flash a stock rom (or maybe the engineering build?) and then pull the Swype apk from my phone, then install it again?
Thanks!
EDIT: I am running Cyanogen 6.1 RC1 right now.
i been tryin this for awhile.. when i was on rc 601, and everytime i try to install swype official (from stock rom) to unofficial(from other sense UI roms/kanged roms) it never installs, or installs but throws FC's till days end.. so what i did was use egu myfroyo6 rom w/swype. and i got latetest google apks. put them in signed rom again the flashed and wala i have froyo with working swype and newest google apps already in..i had to do it that way as first flash they would not update it would fail, i figure cause of the new patch(2.2.1) that was released that they couldnt update due to old signature or something.. cause i saw it once saying signature was wrong or not signed something like that.. but they wouldnt install which was annyoing! but i hope this helps you in some sort of way
Yeah, I mainly love the theme of the stock swype.
2.4.44 works fine though.

[Q] Best Customizations for Rooted Incredible with Stock Rom

I have an Incredible that I have rooted with unrevoked. I rooted it after I received the ota update with froyo and have done nothing else. I have yet to put a rom on since I really don't want to download and install all of my apps again and tweak my preferences. All that being said I want to do some things to customize my phone and have read about other ways to customize with roms, what things am I able to do? Here are some of the things I would love to be able to do to my phone:
Color Notification Icons - Is there a way? I tried one months ago and my phone crashed so I had to do a nandroid restore.
Change Lockscreen - Is there a way I can change the slider? Different color or something?
Blue Theme - I'd love to change all the places that are green to blue, such as when dialing or navigating around on the phone.
Is there anything else you guys have done to your Incredible that sets it apart? I really love to customize and tweak things to make it my own. Thanks for reading and helping out guys.

This is easiest to do using CM6/7 and applying a theme pack
Change Lockscreen - Is there a way I can change the slider? Different color or something
> Not many customizations have been made to the HTC lockscreen. You can find a few metamorphs for VANILLA lockscreens to make it look like the Droid 2 / R2D2
Blue Theme - I'd love to change all the places that are green to blue, such as when dialing or navigating around on the phone.

Minimalistic Text Widget & Launcher Pro are your friends
I also LOVE sonnysekhon's themes for CM7.
Good luck, have fun, nandroid, rinse, repeat

Forgot, you aren't deodexed.... you really need a custom rom to be able to theme. If you want a stock sense you should look into virtuous... its pretty much stock, looks stock but is still custom. Then you can flash themes on it.....
A little off topic, but since I want to learn...
What exactly is deodexed? I remember moving *.odex files from system apps I didn't want after I rooted.
And that's a bummer, I'd hate to have to install all of my apps again after flashing to a new rom. I have looked at both Virtuous and Vanilla in the past but didn't want to deal with all of the extra work afterwards. I'm unsure what CM6/CM7 is, I'm about to google it.
Is there anything I am able to do besides what I've mentioned?
Try flashing virtuous without wiping data, just wipe caches. like I said before, that's pretty much a stock sense rom. You should be ok and not need to re set up your stuff. If not, restore nandroid.

If your main concern about trying out ROM's is having to re-download all of your apps, I have an app for that
Titanium Backup
Super simple. It lets you back up the apps you downloaded. Here's what you do:
1. Download Titanium Backup from the market
2. Individually back up your apps using Ti - WARNING! DO NOT BACK UP SYSTEM DATA. Also don't back up Gmail/Maps/anything stock that's going to be in the new ROM. Titanium shows items in red that you shouldn't back up, so it shouldn't be too hard. Rule of thumb: if you downloaded it yourself, back it up, if not, stay away
3. Download your new ROM and put it on your SD card
4. Wipe
5. Flash new ROM - FYI CM7 stands for "CyanogenMod 7" which is a really popular AOSP ROM
6. Sign in with your Google account/Facebook/etc.
7. Download Titanium backup > Batch > Restore apps
You're going to have to click "Install" for every app you backed up if you've got the free version, the paid one does it for you.
You're also going to have to do your other tweaks (ringtones, autorotate, etc.) manually as Ti can't do that, but I think it's well worth the initial time investment to get a better/faster/more customizable ROM
TL;DR: Titanium Backup backs up your apps. If you want customization, you need a new ROM. If you want Sense, SkyRaider 3.5 or Incredibly Re-engineered 2.3.1 is best for customization (both have blue themes available), but Virtuous gives you the most "stock" feel. If you want AOSP, can't do much better than CyanogenMod7 for theming
EDIT: In response to your original post...
Colored Notifications are only going to work on a deodexed ROM (aka Virtuous/SkyRaider) - there is a rooted/deodexed stock ROM floating around that rmk40 posted (he also created Virtuous)
WidgetLocker is a paid app that can change your lockscreen - and here's a really popular app on modding the stock options it gives to your liking: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825553
Cyanogenmod7 or CM7 is basically one of the most badass roms available, it's not only the newest of the cyanogenmod series but it's also built off of android 2.3 Gingerbread, so no having to wait for the actual legit GB release like everyone that's not rooted. If you want to see it in action look for it on youtube, otherwise to learn about it go to cyanogenmod.com or cyanogenmod.com/forums, everyone there is very helpful. I am running the RC1 of CM7, there is a few nightly builds after that so far but I'm just gonna stick with the first release canidate until RC2 hits.
I'd say the main reason I rooted was to try out different ROMs. I know you said you want to leave all your preferences and apps untouched, but I quickly got over that. I got all my contacts organized in GMail so that they sync every time I flash a new ROM. Each ROM has different preferences to play around with. For apps, I realized what I needed to do was just choose a few really important ones so I wouldn't have to spend all day setting up my apps for each new ROM.
I'd recommend doing a nandroid backup in recovery and trying out a few different ROMs. Try MIUI and Cyanogenmod 7, they're great. When your done you can restore your nandroid backup and get back to exactly where you are right now.
If you decide you want to stick with a new ROM, you can use Titanium Backup to restore your important app data, like someone else pointed out.
Once you're rooted there is a whole new world of opportunities...have fun!
Ok you guy's have got me very interested now. I think I want to move forward now! That cm7 looks great and I'd love to move to gingerbread. I was curious since this is the nightly beta release if I could later get the updates without flashing a rom again and restoring my apps. I had also heard I would have to flash more files like the radio after the install too. I'll have to read more on this.
Use Titanium Backup for all your apps and their data where you can put them all back on your new ROM.
You can do a full backup via Clock Works so if you don't like the new ROM or don't want to deal with any more of this new stuff then you can revert exactly to where you were before.
> For the lockscreen you can uninstall the lockscreen and then the default android one will be there.
To change the main look and feel you can try Launcher Pro from the market. It's pretty sweet. I use it with my custom ROM just because I love the cube transition and how you can hide a lot of the useless apps in the app drawer.
If you dont want to load a custom rom but would like to just theme there is a deodexed completely stock rom around here that will give you that option. All you need to do is flash in recovery and since you are going from a stock rom to another stock rom you do not need to wipe/clear anything so all of your apps and settings will remain intact.
you can consider just flashing skyraiders 3.5 and then not doing anything fancy. It's very close to stock with little improvements around so you might find that to be a good start.
Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions guys. For right now I think I am going to wait for a stable release of CM7 before I flash a rom. I really want Gingerbread but not an unstable release of it. I am looking at LauncherPro now and thinking of checking out ADW. I've watched some different videos on both, which do you guys think is better?
I also did one mod I'm happy about, I changed the market app to the themed "Black Market" with the different icon and appearance. I think I am going to look for some transparent apps next to do something different. I with there was more I could do with my stock rom, it sucks not being deodexed. Anything else worthwhile to look into?

CM7 is incredibly stable for only being at RC1....
I use it everyday now (Occasionally flashing something for fun) and I have NO problems with it.
If you flash CM7 RC1 you won't regret it. Just my two cents.
How long would anyone guess the final release will take? I think I am just going to keep an eye on it's progress and eventually switch. While it may be working well now I just feel uneasy about flashing that rom now, even though I can restore a backup. I'm having some fun now customizing my phone with Launcher Pro. I certainly like the customizable dock over the Sense dock. I'm trying to search for mods I can do with my non-deodexed rom but not too much luck. Thanks for the thoughts everyone!
I used to be like you so just as some insight from someone who remembers being where you are. Don't worry about cm7 rc1 or the newest nighlys, they're very stable. Although for a stock sense experience, one fun rom I've found to be fun and really have me flashing back and forth with cm7 is incredibly re engineered. With Chad's kernel its super fast, battery efficient and stable.
So ymmv but cm rc's are generally pretty stable. And incredibly re engineered is also a great choice

ok i am a noob and just like the guy before i am rooted and using hydra oc kernal but stock rom froyo 2.2 and preaty much same reasons as the other guy for not flashing a rom yet. i think my main problem is just not quite sure of all the details yet. someone mentioned making a backup through clockwork i did that, chose the backup and restore option, but not sure what all this actualy backs up...everything? or just parts, and also little hazy on the kernel/rom workable combinations... how do you know which ones can be used together and which will brick or what ever may be the consiquencess, i only have had my phone little over a month, so i still working up my courage too. gained some today my wife's got same phone and had hers rooted with same kernel, and needed to return it cause having sms, and call issues. i was able to return hers to stock and s-on. so that really boosted my confidence, i know alot of it is just brute force reading to learn but i never was much on long reads, so i usualy read other peoples mastakes and not do that and try everything else in time... kinda of an ass-backwards way of doing it but does tend to cut down on the reading...lol so any tips you want to throw at me i am listening...
funny i just found that htc had a phone named Thoth, but i guess it was canceled or something...to bad liked the name...

[q] sense themes...cyanogen mod/themes...help!

OK In need of some help....My question is:
Where can I find sense based THEMES? I have searched but no one really gives a straight answer..
Everyone says search but where.... The sense themes that I have searched have their own rom attached with some software that I use gone....
So then I thought about going to a cyanogen mod and theme.. There seems to be more cyanogen themes.. Is the sense theme old?
So i have downloaded cyanogen mod but havent installed..
What is the advantage of going to cyanogen? The reason I am leaning to a cyanogen mod is because it will allow me to start from scratch without all the extra crap.. I dont need footprints.... I dont need all the extra crap on the sense stock from sprint.. I want to add what I want and allow my phone to run smooth... fast....AND still able to have 4G, wireless tether, wired tether, have access to android marketplace....
Can I still add the .apk files to the cyanogen mod that I have as a back up such as sprint TV etc....
How is the battery life? Will this mod kill my battery... it was nice going back to unroot my device and I was able to get 17hrs before I threw it on the charger to move files and thats on the stock battery no kernel..
OR where are the sense themes??? The ones I show have custom things added.... But given that I want to do my own thing, cyanogen may be the best option.. so with that said, what all does it take...
I have rooted my phone again... I have a nandroid back up.... I dont care about losing apps bc I can just get those again from the market...
So do I put on SD card.. some say clear dalvik cache.. I have yet to see that option in recovery... some help on that...
Once i do that.. just a matter of flashing MOD?? Please keep in mind what im looking.
SIGH HELP!

[Q] need some help with this

ok, i just got a captivate glide from my gf, ive been looking into flashing and rooting for about 3 months, but i JUST got an android (ik so behind) but originally i was looking into sidekick 4g for keyboard but this worked too in my eyes and it was free so i figured why not, but either way i wanted to root and flash, but now im at a barricade that im not sure if to continue or not, i rooted using one of the threads directions
this one to be exact
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1378082
i ran into a barricade here at first, the initial set up wouldnt run, i fixed that by doing the Vol. Down plus Power recovery mode i think its called, and clearing memory then rebooting and it worked fine, i was rooted and had the super user app as well (some boxes from widgets were invosible like accuweather and the android assistant thing but, thats ok).
ok next step i knew if i was supposed to try to flash a rom i should back up EFS which i did with some difficulty (such as figuring out i needed busybox lol)
ok now my next step was installing ROM manager by clockworkmods
NOW onto the actual part i need help with that i couldnt figure out myself (and excuse me for being newbish here too as i dont know much but im not bad with tech either but i felt i damn near bricked the phone in the process already so i WANT to continue with guidance before i do anything else)
now that im rooted, now that everythings backed up on my computer and ive got rommanager and everything
what now
will i still be rooted once i flash a rom? will i still have busy box, super user, all of that stuff? (as the thread i rooted with clearly said that was flashing a rooted rom)
and theres some other personalization questions i need help with too but thats more towards once ik what direction im going in
and uh.. not sure if it matters but im on metropcs service, so occasionally i get issues if i have to reset the phone at all as i have to change the ANP or ADP cant remember the acronym but ive got to change it from some t-mobile one to the metropcs one, i dont see why that would matter but, its a just in case emasure, also im using the ATT one not rodgers (not even sure what rodgers is tbh)
EDIT: OH one last thing. the rooted rom is gingerbread.. thats my main reason for wanting to change it.. i want kitkat, or would prefer kitkat, but id like some opinions as well on what perhaps the best ROM would be, im not sure between omni-rom and cyanogynmod which are the main ones im looking into, but, again, get more into that later
ok now
now im looking through the Rom info.. and.. im starting to wonder.. is it even worth it?
what sacrifices am i going to be making if i flash a custom? what all can i change without flashing a custom? and can i still get kitkat without screwing up my root (KIES?? or ODIN??) its just the things like this that make me wonder... i want the root, that much i DO know, theres so much i can do with rooting im seeing this and enjoying this, but i just need some type of guidance as to what to do, and if theres a better place for this thread please feel free to move it as i do see that it might be ok to have under general ndroid questions, but, i wasnt all too sure on it as this isthe phone im using so any issues deriving from the phone type might screw someone up
Most of the custom roms are rooted already.
There is only 4.0 official, no kitkat. We dont have odin custom images, nor KIES. You must wipe your data, system, boot parition, install KK means clean phone for you.
I think KK is better then official, but it has some limitation.

ok.. im confused then, cause i had kitkat on it when i used kies to update firmware, or atleast i thought i did, perhaps because both had 4 and i was sleepy i was confused lol, and sorry but if KK doesnt mean KitKat then what does it mean. and how high will a custom Rom take me in terms of lining up with official, just to ice cream sandwich?. and.. cyanogenmod, ive been tempted to get it but.. im not sure exactly which one to get because when i was on the site i only found captivate in the devices not captivate glide
EDIT: one more thing, as far as wiping the phone clean and starting over, what do i use.
and of course if you say the rest are rooted, then whats one of the best kernels and roms to use then, its true i want atleast ICS on here, so.. if im right i looked up KK, do you mean KKlauncher the app?
well...
ok i soft bricked my phone, it just shut down in middle of installing some fonts, and for some reason i cant restore it even tho i created a back up as it advised me to do so, i get errors in CWM recovery,
now im about to just do this
using this as a sort of reference so people can keep track of me if something else happens that i mess up..

I mean KK is kitkat. I dont know what did you read, but there is ICS the last official.
Cyanogenmod and other custom roms has own official support, that what you can download rom their site. We dont have official support from them, you cant download those roms from there. You can found download link in rom's threads.

hell i got it back on default ICS now lol, i screwed it up XD and yea ik you guys dont have the downloads your selves but the links and guidance of what i should be doing is basically what i was after ill look at the link you gave me, i think im going to chill out with the flashing right this second, but ill pick it back up later im sure, i atleast liked the cpu setting apps. made my battery last much longer and for what time it lasted i loved it
ok another thing im concerned with is alot have bugs that are deal breakers for me, such as messing up the keyboard (the whole reason i have this phone)
and looking through it i do like CM11 too
but looking at your post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588304
can you explain what you mean by the fixed rotation and skype issues,
and perhaps is there a full feature list somewhere? thats one big thing i want to look at if possible, i usually just keep seeing bug fixes on any ROM
Voip apps (skype, vibert etc) have strange sound, only temporaly fix exists.
When you take a picture with camera, it has fix rotation, I dont remember witch position is the fixed one, but you make photos with different rotation, the picture will be rotate 90/180/270, and you must fix the image.
Most importan bug are: phone call sound doesnt work with BT devices, and voip sound is buggy.
