Q: Where are the notification sounds located? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need someone familiar with the phone to tell me where/location the notification sounds are located.
I restored a backup and it seems that I have 2 of everything. Would like to delete the extras.
Thanks in advance.

Labor day drunkness made me mess up my Evo

I rooted the other day and am running CM6 on my Evo. I don't much like ADW launcher, so I installed Launcher Pro. Every time I reboot my phone it defaults back to ADW. So today, I decided to buy Root Explorer and delete the APK for ADW in my system/apps folder, along with a couple other apps that I don't use. Without doing much research (drinking), I proceeded to delete some APKs. My phone will now not boot. It is stuck on the boot animation (which is beautiful).
Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can fix this issue? I promise to never delete anything again, and stop drinking.
Thanks!

Yeah hold the volume down +power button while the phone is off till you get to the white screen and select recovery.
reflash from there.

well what you should have done is:
1. don't delete something if you don't know what it is
2. simply go to menu>settings>apps>manage apps>adw launcher and hit clear defaults
now to fix it... boot into recover wipe everything and re-flash
HAHA yes thank you. I forgot about my nandroid. Extended memory loss is one of the greatest side effects.
So do you know the proper way to remove apps using root explorer? Or will CM6 trip out if I touch any of its preloaded apps? Thanks for the help

I understand this. I did read to delete the apk in the system/apps folder on multiple articles. It's a completely legit way to remove apps according to many people.
And of course I tried to clear ADW's defaults, if that worked I wouldn't be trying to delete it. It starts whenever it wants to despite me telling it not to.

if your rooted use rootexplore and remove it lol
You would need to be rooted to uninstall qik. Then you should use Titanium Backup to uninstall it.

use titanium, you dont have to know anything....
OK.. I tried installing Titanium and it doesn't let me.. I AM ROOTED but I don't have any roms loaded, just a stock rooted phone..
All help is appreciated!
If you are sure you are rooted its simple get root explorer and go to system then app folder scroll down to the qik apk and then hit the R/O button at the the top to give you permission to delete files and then highlight and delete it.
Now this will only work if your phone is rooted... double check that since your Titanium method did not work...

or is there an actual uninstall portion to this?
Also.. Another question.. Should I remove "ASTRO" and use root explorer as my file manager?

As a newbie, I downloaded EVERYTHING, lol, and now starting to get serious with the phone and cleaning things up.. (as I am sure like everyone)
I downloaded so many different apps, but keeping the ones I know I will use
fyi - this forum has the answer to damn near everything and before you post anything and these guys go crazy just look it up to the best of your knowledge... There is also a list in here of apps safe to remove incase you want to remove more crap. I advise you to do a nandroid of your current rom before you starting playing around with your phone though... Good luck and welcome aboard...

LOL, is a nandroid a different term then "backup"
If not, please explain as it seems everyone uses different lingo, yet its just to make people that are new to this (ME) confused
and I'm coming from windows, where we call "ROMS" .. "Kitchens"
Yes it is but its done on the phone and not with outside software. Hey I am coming from a Diamond and a Touch Pro so I know but this forum has it all. I was here and PPCGeeks... if you are unsure of anything just google it with xda an the end and it normally finds you help here... google how to do a nandroid xda... see what happens..
Yea please backup/nandroid whatever you want to call it and then mess with your phone.... so if you mess up you can nandroid back to when it was working... do this before you make any changes to your phone.. IMO

[req] sense layout backup

i for one think this would be a great idea.
you know, when you flash a rom, sometimes you just have to wipe it no matter what. i use titanium backup for my apps, and i have no problem logging into my email again, but what really annoys me is having to re-organise sense. it would be great if somebody made a script that backed up the sense layout. if an app is no longer installed on the phone, it probably just wouldn't show up, as in when you uninstall from recovery and reboot. i would love it if anybody could do this. i personally can't donate, because i dont have a credit card, but i am sure people will.
the first step would be to find out where this information is stored. anybody know?
thanks for trying
dk
you can restore it using adb
i didnt know that. how do you do this? adb is a VERY general thing, as i am sure you know
Please keep the questions in the Q&A Forum to keep the Dev Forums clean.
This looks like it might be able to help:

I thought titanium backup pro/donate version does this. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
that would be great if it did. anybody confirm? i dont see it written down anywhere but it is always possible.
I use Titanium Backup to restore my sense UI's icon layouts on my rooted phone.
And I use MyBackUp Pro to restore the layout on an un-rooted phone.
Pretty sure Titanium Backup stores it in a green colored setting named "[DESKTOP] HTC Sense 1.00"
After you restore that setting (Using either app) you MUST restart the phone for it to take effect.
The only problem i've had was with widgets, they always say missing. But they are really easy to replace, so no complaints.
restore back up layout
I use launcher pro as a replacement for my home apk, it offers a backup/restore function. it will restore everything as it was (except widgets). works great i have tried its on 2 or 3 different roms.
Titanium already does this back up "[DESKTOP] HTC Sense 1.00" then restore it after flash. I always reboot right after the restore. Now if your talking about CM or AOSP I have no idea.

Force Close while on multiple calls (com.android.phone)

Wondering if anyone else is having FCs on com.android.phone
Get it all the time when I'm on a active call > get a 2nd call and answer > select option to put original caller on hold. I'm able to finish up on the 2nd call but cannot get back to the 1st call.
I'm rooted on latest CWM. No custom ROM.
Using V6 SuperCharger and dsexton tweaks.
I've cleared both caches and fixed permissions - no luck
I tested and got the same issue......rooted with CWM. Has anyone else tried this.
And those calls does not show up in call logs as well.

No, just CWM and rooted.
Can anyone with stock ROM check and see if the issue is with Stock as well?
I read somewhere where someone was getting similar error....on google forum it said that it has something to relate to SIM Toolkit.....Do you still have that in your phone as i un-installed it.
i also have this issue... very annoying and inconvenient
Found it. ****in annoying and just plain stupid.
T-Mobile Name ID has to be enabled. I froze it in TB. Unfroze, restart and tested. Works like a charm.

make sure you have the setting enabled for installing from unknown sources.
Go to Settings -> Applications -> check Unknown Sources.
Hope this helps.
do I need to install the data.tar and apk file or just the apk? name id can't connect to servers for some reason
it shouldn't need to. as long as it's installed you shouldn't have the problem.

[Q] What is the stock Samsung Task Manager apk called?

Accidently deleted the stock task manager and I want it back... deleted it without making a backup after I installed my ROM so obviously it's included in my roms zip... just looking for it, not seeing anything that resembles the name --- would really appreciate the name of it if anyone knows
thanks for your help
I think it is JobManager.apk
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
EDIT*** lol you beat me by two min colorado-al!
Well after extractnig a whole rom I spotted what the icon looks like --- called Job Manager.... but it's not going as planned ---
I assumed I would just throw it to SD card...
Then us File explorer to move it to system/app
then open
Getting an Application not installed message --- what am i doing wrong?
I thought it was 'tasks.apk', under /system/app.
Could be wrong though, I've been running Blazer and now CM7 since the day I got my phone
