Easily restore all apps.

Hi everyone. I have two questions today.
First, is there a way to put all of my apps and data on my phone very quickly after flashing? I hate going through titanium and restoring one by one.
Second, has anyone heard about Windows phone 7 development progress? I Can't seem to find the thread about it.

*IF* you're flashing a nightly build, reflashing the same rom cleanly or flashing a very similar rom, all you have to do is boot into recovery, wipe cache & dalvik and then create a nandroid backup consisting of only your data, and android.secure and sd-ext partition (if you have your 3rd party apps stored there). When the backup is compete, go ahead and do a full wipe and flash the rom you desire to flash. Afterwards, boot into your homescreen, bypass the sign-in process and remove the default widgets from all of your homescreens. Now reboot into recovery and restore the backup you just made. When you boot back into your homescreen, your apps, data and screens will be as they were.

Aright, so nand data and android.secure (I don't put apps on sd). Wipe everything. On new ROM get rid of all widgets. Restore nand. Done.

Yes, but just so we're on the same page, when I say remove the default widgets, I'm only referring to the widgets that are 'displayed on your homescreens' when you initially bootup after a fresh install.

Spend the $6 for Titanium Pro, and you don't have to restore them one by one. I resisted for awhile because $6 seemed high for a single app, but it's worth it.

Use mybackup root. It does what titanium pro does but it is free. There is a paid version if you like it to donate. I would just make backup, wipe then download mybackup again from market and restore. Don't have to do one by one it does batch on its own.

As for your second question. I thought I read they deleted it due to it not going anywhere. I may be wrong though because I just came over from the hero forums. I read that in another forum someone else may be able to tell you more.

[Q] Restore system data after installing EaglesBlood?

Hello everyone! I'm a first-time Android owner, and so obviously this is my first time rooting and first time installing a ROM. That said, I am reasonably tech savvy and read and reread instructions backwards and forwards before doing anything that could possibly brick my phone, so I was able to get as far as installing EaglesBlood without a hitch.
I ran a Nandroid backup and backed up all my apps and system data using Titanium Backup before installing. My question is this: I'm getting ready to restore all my stuff from TB... Do I restore missing apps + system data, or just the apps?
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere... I swear I looked and didn't find a concrete answer for this particular ROM and this particular phone.

You should also restore app data and I'd you start to get fcs uninstall the offending app and reinstall it without data

[Q] Regarding Titanium Backup

I was wondering if anyone knows the answer to the below question.
Typically, before you switch ROM's you should always make a nandroid of your stock ROM or whatever ROM you are currently running. You should also backup all user apps in Titanium Backup before flashing a new ROM so the apps can easily be restored afterward.
Can this process also be done in reverse? Lets say you are running a custom ROM for a few weeks and you decide you want to go back to your original stock nandroid that you created prior to flashing the custom ROM. Could you make a backup of all your user apps, then boot into CWM Recovery, do a superwipe, restore your nandroid and then restore the apps you just backed up in Titanium Backup?
I hope my question makes sense. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If I understood your questions right my answer will yes, as long as you're rooted. Other than that it wouldn't be possible

Thanks, yes I am rooted. I made a nandroid a couple weeks ago and wanted to flash a new ROM today but didn't want to make another nandroid before doing so. I was just going to backup my apps in Titanium before flashing the new ROM.
If I don't like the new ROM I would switch back and restore my nandroid but wanted to be able to restore my apps through Titanium to make sure they are up to date. Sounds like this is possible. Thank you very much for your response.

If you're restoring a nandroid, you don't need to superwipe. A nandroid is a complete image of your system at the time (everything down to the kernel) so there's no need to wipe anything with a flashable, the system will do that for you. Only need to superwipe with new install of a ROM. But yes, you can do that, although if you want to save SMS and call logs and such, it might just be faster (and easier) to make another nandroid.

Awesome, ok I didn't know that I could just flash and restore my nandroid without wiping first, thank you.
I actually found an extremely useful program that I have been using called SMS Backup +. It backs up all your SMS, MMS and Call Logs into your Gmail account. When you switch to a new ROM you just click on restore and all your SMS messages and call logs are back again. Very very useful program. Here's the link.

Flashing Inquiry

Hey all, long time no talk.
I noticed everytime a new ROM comes out you guys are always flashing. Is there an easy way to flash without having to "re-install" everything and keeping your screens the way they were previously? Or there is no simple solution?

Generally not really. If its a minor update for a current Rom u don't always have to erase everything but generally u will have to start from scratch. That's always the best bet for squashing bugs ect

You can always use titanium backup to reinstall apps, I'd definitely recommend dropping a few bucks on the paid version for no click restores. If it's an update to a rom I'm already running, I usually just wipe cache and dalvik before flashing, but you should always wipe before flashing a different rom.

Excellent that is what I had figured. I just had noticed some guys flashing everytime a new rom comes out, that has to be a pain in the a**. But I have been using Astro to back up everything.

Titanium is a great ap. I have noticed that restoring aps with it can cause some issues and slowdowns. I always used titanium but now I prefer a fresh install. When u log into your gmail account u can set it to automatically restore your previous aps also when you look at the "my aps" section you can slide to the right and look at all aps you had ever downloaded.

I'm with you. I used TiBu a couple of times, but had random crashes and stuff.
I do the full wipe now, every time. Stability is worth the trade-off of reinstalling everything

Titanium can be buggy at times but I use the heck out if it... I make a backup of xyz rom and rename it, then switch roms. Set everything up (if it's new to me) and backup/rename. For example I have titanium backupUKB, titanium backupCM9 and titanium backupSRZ all on my SD card...

I have been using GO Backup instead of Titanium lately and it is pretty good. You can restore all your backed up apps with one click; it only backs up user apps. It also can backup your messages and wifi access points if you backup that kind of stuff, and most of all it's free. I definitely recomend you try it out.

I only restore the user apps using Titanium Backup. I believe that should technically not cause any problems. Well I am glad it didn't the few times I did use it, so far.

[Q] How to backup app + data?

I'm currently using an older FrostyJB rom and would like to update to the latest version. The problem is that I've spent alot of time tweaking the settings, downloading apps, and tweaking app settings to my liking.
Is there a way I can save all the apps, app settings, and data? That way after I update to the latest rom version, I can just load it up and won't have to fiddle with downloading all the apps and setting them up again.

From cwm (rom manager)or (goo manager) from the playstore! It does a whole backup of all you're stuff.
Also titanium backup's you're apps n stuff. Either or but if u want the whole thing I suggest a NANDROID BACKUP!!!

Also it might be safe to assume you can just flash over on top of the old version, just don't report bugs if you have some, if things start acting weird and you get force closes, then wipe and start over. Longest run on ever.

Yep. Titanium backup is what you need.

Me I use app2zip in order to backup my apps and what i like about it is that it makes a zip that you can flash right after you flash a rom.
It says that if your data is not erase it will restore it but it doesn't work all the time for me so I use a different app to backup apps and phone data to restore them.
More steps than TB but free

depends on the backup i'm doing on which one i prefer:
titanium backup if i want to backup the app and the data
superbox if i want just the .apk backed up for later install

I don't think he's looking to restore a full backup such as a nandroid. He's wanting to flash a newer version of a rom and make sure all his settings are the same afterwards. I'm sure he wants to have all his messages and bookmarks and apps and widgets to all be there afterward.
Honestly, I don't think there is such an app as I would have found it by now. I hate flashing rom updates every other day and having to restore my messages (and finding out that the backup is from a week ago so I've lost a bunch), downloading my apps and having to reset the settings (usually forgetting an app or 2 every time), not having my bookmarks anymore, etc.
I know you can restore a lot of this stuff from TB, as I usually do, but I always had worries about restoring things from one build onto another for compatibility reasons and to avoid FC's and such. I don't really think there is a foolproof way of doing what he wants. It's a little safer to do this by hand but inevitably you will lose or forget some things along the way.

Using TB I encountered many problems after a frosty upgrade awhile back. Something about the file system? Has anyone encountered this, as I would also like to upgrade from an old nandroid frosty bk

I agree. I prefer this over TB when it comes to backups but that's my personal preference.

Did you try to restore system data? If so, then that's the problem. Never do that for any reason (when updating the rom).

What I usually do is restore apps like evernote with data basically apps that have info on it. While others ones like Pandora without data in which I could start from Scratch without losing anything. If you want to keep actual settings really I think the only way to do it is if your upgrading the same rom to a different version and rom has to support it.
