Some pics on a 19inch 720p extra monitor I had to test out the kit that arrived today. Here are some Pics.
It includes
Remote control for media
Bluetooth Keyboard
Bluetooth Mouse
Docking Station w/ usb ports (Perfect for external 1tb hdd w/ media)
*Next test is the 46"LED TV (when the wife is done... *sigh*)
The worlds most powerful smartphone, streaming Pandora, surfing the web, a little facebook, some XDA, and speedtest.net (I tried to install Chrome, #fail )

Looks like a nice setup. How long does it take the actual webtop to become usable?

when you dock the phone, it does its "little" thing and you are at a usable desktop in about 30-45 seconds.

Me too -- the normal apps that I've used in the past to control via VNC or web don't seem to work with the Atrix :/
Nice pics, they came out good. I couldn't get a good angle without reflection for pics of mine..Heres my unboxing and small demo of the entertainment pkg.. I got it for 161.99 at amazon and it came with the multimedia dock, bt keyboard and mouse, and remote... I didnt want to start a new thread since I saw yours..
Heres my vid

Whats the highest resolution it supports? I have a 2650x1600 monitor and am worried it will look bad with the dock.
Thanks for the pics
How is the experience with the keyboard and mouse? Is it like using a regular computer if you are on wifi? Is the mouse smooth and not laggy?
I did the webtop mod and used my flat panel..it was viewable but using the phone keyboard/mouse just didn't work well. I also tried a Logitech DiNovo mini but the keyboard was too small and the n and 1 keys worked only some of the time. I am thinking about springing for the bundle like you did.
Thanks,
Ron

@rpolansky it is very smooth on both the keyboard and mouse end, the only thing I found to ever have lag is the built in webtop firefox browser. But that has nothing to do with the accessories.. when i use the mouse and keyboard for games or text messaging, I have yet to have a lag..

Anyone know if this is possible?
Basically I want to watch live tv on my xoom. I want to pull the signal straight from the airwaves and not use 3g or wifi etc. Anyone know any device that would do this for me? Basically something I could just plug-in and be able to watch live tv?
First, you'll need a tuner (mini PCI-E or USB) Then you'll need drivers to use that tuner, possible that a major tuner mfg could write them but then Google or a dev will need to build them into a distro. Finally, you need an app that can interpret the data received from the tuner.
The likelihood of all of these things coming together is unlikely due to the small market for such a tuner. I, personally, would love it.
TV on Xoom
I realize this is not the config you are looking for, but I purchased a DVR like box called a Vulkano made by Monsoon and basically it goes between your TV and the Cable box (and to your router). It then provides a feed to an app for android (free and/or paid) and tt literally controls your cable box remotely, and you can watch live TV, your saved shows, setup recordings, record to your device, etc.
I've tested on my Evo, Xoom, and A7, which all work.
However, the recent update to 3.1 caused the Xoom version to not work anymore, but the developers said a fix is coming soon.
While I was on 3.0 the HD channels on the Xoom were F-ing sweet!
The box was about $150, but there are multiple versions, and I bought this on a whim hoping it would just do DVR type functions, but went well beyond that.
I've run it over wifi, 3g, and tethered to 3g, and all have worked very well.
Again, maybe not the config you want, but this is nothing short of AWESOME!!
isnt that kind of like "slingbox" and how did you get it to work with 3g?
TV on Xoom
Pretty much exactly like Slingbox (I think, never used it), just cheaper and they have a free App for Android and Apple. There's a paid App version, but didn't bother since the freebie worked good for me. I use it on my Evo and eLocity A7 all the time via 3g and/or Tether. And until the HC 3.1 update I was able to use it on my Xoom via 3g. If you get a good signal or go wifi it will stream in HD, and looks killer on the Xoom. But alas, the developer needs to update it for HC 3.1, impatiently waiting for that!
Also I found that if you record thru the App, it stores it locally on whatever device you are using. I often use it on my PC, and then save it to my NAS drive for remote access later.
Like I said before, I was trying this out as a maybe option, and was totally stoked at what I got for $150, I think the slingbox doesn't quite do all this, and costs like twice as much for the Pro, and you still have to pay $25 for their App.
There is also 6 versions of the hardware to fit your budget and needs.
here you go, pick a channel and watch.

nice find. Not exactly what I was looking for.
I am looking for a dtv tuner that connects to the xoom. If anyone figures this out please post.
They had talked about a version of the Samsung Moment that would do this, not sure if it ever came state side or not. But that could take care of the tuner software side, then you would need a device and a driver, I remember having a winTV device at one point in time that worked in ubuntu with out any extra work...so there's definitely linux support for the type of device.

Live T.V
hey if there is any developers out there .. could you possibly try to get this to work for Xoom? I use to have an archos, and I was able to put live t.v on it .. but the system was modified for it, using URUKDROID.. I'm just wondering if we can just extract the drivers and use the T.V app that comes with this installation???

I own an old dreambox 500. It can stream live satelite signal . Also videos,mp3, remote pvr.etc. it didnt cost me more than 60 dlls. Ita not illegal if you put your smart tv card in this reciever. I can watch my tv since android 2.1 via stream and my xoom can run them without delay. Im trying to buy a dm800 or dm500hd i hear the stream is much smooth

I am looking for an app that will wirelessly send my Android screen to my TV through my XBOX360 or PS3. I have found app that send specific media on you phone storage, but I want to show everything that is on my screen. Specifically I want to view my Jetflix shows to my TV, which is streaming the media. Or do the same with DroidTV Primtime.
I found this YouTube video that seems to do exactly that, but can't find any actual application information or download information.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0QwWYzzW_8
Anyone have any ideas how this can be done?
Edit: I have searched Google for Android Phone to TV and Internal Sender, which are the only clue I get from the video.
Edit: found that it is AWIND INC company that made the app...
http://www.awindinc.com/news/press release-McTiVia_20110531.pdf
Edit: looks like they make servers, so a media server might be necesarry....?

Anyone know of any apps out there that might be able to send Android screen to a XBOX or PS3 wirelessly?
I believe you need a dlna enable TV or if not a dlna receiver plus both your phone and the TV/receiver would have to be connected to the same wifi.

I You can get the Allshare dlna app to play to xbox360 and ps3 without a dlna ready TV. So with the proper app, I thought it might be possible to do the same, but view the android screen instead of just specific media files.

Essentially you want to mirror your phones GUI on a tv screen right?
As far as I know one way is having a pc connected to your tv and then using a particular app installed on your phone & then using the pc's browser to mirror the phones GUI.
The other only works on the EVO (the app is called FullHDMI) but it's via the EVO's HDMI port not via wifi.
Having said that I don't think there's anyway as of yet to route it thru your 360 or PS3, though you may be only to stream the contents. Sorry.
Big time lag!

Yes that is what I want to do. Mainly just so that I can view TV shows that I am streaming on my phone. I can do this with an hdmi contected from phone to tv, but very inconvenient to have to go to the TV each time I want to pause/play or switch shows. "I know I'm spoiled" hehe
I have found I can plug the phone into the tv via hdmi to view content and then install Droid VNC Server to the phone and a VCN client on my laptop and essentially control the phone on my Phone/TV remotely with my computer. This works pretty good. The only problem is the phone is trying to keep my laptop screen "updated" with the TV show and the phone get very hot. So I am looking for a more convenient way to essentially do this.
Not extremely important, just like to mess around with it and see what I can do, and thought maybe someone knew something I did not...
The only thing I can think of would be to get a multimedia bluetooth keyboard for your phone & use that as a remote control.
Basically you connect your phone to your tv via HDMI (MHL adapter) & then use that keyboard as the remote control.
However I cannot speak as to it's abilities and or its limitations. I'm just throwing some ideas out there.
Hopefully someone else can chime in.

hi i've been looking for a while now and ive found a few 7' tablet cases with keyboards and was wondering if anyone has tried one with the kindle fire.
It's highly unlikely right now.
The chip set in the Kindle apparently supports Bluetooth, but Amazon chose to not enable it. There are talented devs at work to enable it, but nothing so far.

Any suggestions or ideas would be great!

At the moment, no. The only options for keyboards are bluetooth and usb, neither of which are currently available on the KF.
You will either have to wait for a ROM that can support it (thus rooting and flashing your KF) or wait and see if Amazon will release an OTA which enables the support.

Get a stylus and use it on a journal type app? That's what I'm doing at the moment. Then I go home and type it all out on Evernote since it's a bit sloppy. I'm actually going to give Quill a try next week which supports Evernote too.
I dont know why amazon would have bluetooth and the other stuff that ppl would use disabled.
I think it only hurts the sell of the KF if you ask me, haha I wouldnt have the one I have if my wife wouldnt have gotten it.
It's unfortunate that this isn't possible yet, it's something I would really like to see.
so there isn't any keyboards that work over wifi that could work? That's kinds what I was thinking. I know its possible because I got a app that uses one aneroid device to control another over wifi.

Yes, there are apps that use a computer to do the same thing. HOWEVER, there is no such thing as a dedicated wifi enabled keyboard. Why? Because the speeds wouldn't be fast enough for daily usage. It'd be like using dialup, except that instead for webpages taking a minute to load up, it'll be all your keystrokes.
Wifi connections are good for home sharing files/music/video, but not for something that should only take .0000000000001 milliseconds. Lol.
Which is why Bluetooth and USB are the mainly used interface. They're faster, they are not dependent on your router, and are far easier to plug & play.
A little bump but is there anyway this thing can help?

You cant use that cable, Kindle Fire doesn't support USB host. Developers are trying to make ICS work fully and neither bluetooth or USB host are priority to them.
Not yet.

Bumped into a RIM guy with a playbook. He was testing out a bluetooth enabled keyboard and showed it to me. Very nice.

Not thinking "ground breaking" or anything, but very nice stuff none the less.
I had an Atrix 4G with the Lapdock accessory (+webtop mod) before the GNEX, so using my android phone as my computer is something i'm familiar with, even though it was in a different way.
I also have the Rii mini bluetooth keyboard and tried once with the Nexus connected to my TV. Just that one time because I received the MHL adapter very recently.

Any other Nexus owners here using their phone as a desktop PC/HTPC/entertainment center?
Any recommended full sized bluetooth keyboard+touchpad?
Thanks
I just use a Bluetooth mouse and a cheap bt thumb keyboard off eBay with a good layout for direction keys. I don't have an MHL adapter yet but it should work. I think your issue is your keyboard\mouse combo may be too complicated without some software.
LTE EX Galaxy Nexus - CM9 AOKP
Asus Transformer - Revolver
Something else I've tried is installing ubuntu in a chroot, accessing it through VNC, and using bluetooth mouse+keyboard with MHL output. Results are shaky at best. VNC is the bottleneck - none of the VNC clients I've tried really work perfectly.
Some typical issues:
- Double-clicking doesn't work
- Keys are not always mapped properly. Escape, Tab, Ctrl, Alt, for example.
- Audio doesn't work at all.
- Because it's through VNC, graphics are not hardware accelerated.
The efficiency of using a full linux install with a keyboard is lost when the keyboard doesn't function as expected.
Looks promising. I would like to see desktop programs like spreadsheets, real time financial apps, or maybe sending something to the printer.
I did. No add ons. Everything was from the GN and the MHL adapter with the back cover off.

I dont plan on using mine as a desktop computer but for my galaxy tab 10.1 I have this bluetooth keyboard from logitech that sync'd perfectly and works well with the nexus also.
It is, I would say, about the size of a laptop keyboard so you can get a good rhythm going once you get comfortable with the keys and the size of the keyboard.
As for mouse, I have no idea. I have this cheap one from that is bluetooth form logitech also but I dont like using it. But in a pinch its better than nothing.
Where did you purchase the serioux keyboard?
I bought the serious from a local store (I found it by chance .. I was not looking for it on purpose). I see that lots of online stores here in Romania have this keyboard in stock ....
If you want to make an idea about the size, compared with a full sized keyboard....
// sent from my green robot //
I have a google t.v. Keyboard Which I thought would work but its not discoverable by default so I will have to buy a bt keyboard and mouse. MHL is nice though its great that this can be done.
I have been using this setup off an on for a few weeks now. I actually had an Apple keyboard and mouse sitting around the house and they paired with the device perfectly.
I also did the Ubuntu install and you are absolutely right... VNC is the bottle neck and it makes everything unusable.
While its fun to toy around with, it is still too clunky of a setup for me to make it my permanent laptop replacement. If I could get the output on the monitor to be a tablet layout instead of a close up of the phone screen, it may be a different story.
My GN has basically become my multimedia hub/ desktop. I used the Samsung mhl adapter to avoid some problems I heard about with other adapters. I use the Logitech bt Android 3.0+ keyboard mouse combo. Got these on Amazon.
On my TV I use Gmail, Calendar, GDocs, Netflix, Music, Weather, Market Movies, etc... I love it.
And even use Google Video Chat off the back camera using the keyboard case stand!

Have been struggling to find a decent mini keyboard with trackpad and UK layout. Anybody got good suggestions?

Hi Bruno, the OP is looking for a UK layout keyboard, as am I. The ones you pointed to are all US layouts. The UK layout has the £ sign over the 3 rather than #. It also has an extra key to the left of Z for the \.
I too am looking for a reasonably priced UK layout keyboard but the only ones I've found are pricey. Probably because there are so few of them!

Thank for your replies guys. I ended up with the Logitech diNovo Mini UK layout. I also have a MHL HDMI cable in the post. Got a 64GB MicroSD in NTFS on the phone so main use is play music and films when I am out at friends' without having to carry my laptop or get up from the sofa every time I need to pause or something. Considered the Allshare Cast Dongle but I am using CM10 ROM so no Samsung apps and I would generic set ups so everything would still work when I upgrade in the future.
Using External Keyboard Helper Pro app I've assigned the Record key to Home, and left Windows key to Menu. ESC works as BACK anyway. All the media keys work. All the keys are mapped correctly. All the FN keys on the main keyboard works. Media Center key opens Apollo, Explorer goes to Home which have yet to figure out how to assign to Chrome, PC Power key turns screen off. The Zoom keys have been assigned but are not working. CTRL+ALT+DEL shuts phone off. Bonus of the app is you can set SHIFT/CTRL/ALT memory so you don't have to use both hands.
This is by no means a cheap set up but it has everything I need in a tiny and portable package.

Oh penis! That means I am going to have to back up all my apps and move to a Samsung based ROM... D'oh!
That's how I read it.
Wanted to get a Cyanogenmod ROM myself but after reading about the lack of MHL I'm not so sure anymore. After all I mainly used an CM ROM on my HD2 because of some of the functions that Samsung has in it's ROMs. I guess I can live with a rooted but otherwise stock SGS3.
All backed up! Going to give this Omega ROM a go:

All the Samsung Apps are there so should work.
Wish me luck...
I would be kind of surprised if they could do what the CM team can't.
Would be nice though. The ROM sounds pretty interesting to me.
Keep me posted.
So far I can confirm exFAT works on it (had to use NTFS work round on CM), all Samsung apps are present including Allshare. I have read reports that it works although my cable has yet to arrive so will let you know when that arrives.
I can confirm that everything works on Omega ROM as intended. Although the phone charger doesn't have enough juice to run the cable so a more powerful charger is needed.
Allshare Cast Dongle also works perfectly. I am able to stream 1080p with no lag. I also have a NAS, streaming from NAS to TV via phone I managed 720p with no lag. I will have to do some serious tweaking to see if I can get 1080p to run smoothly from the NAS.
