Everytime I make an outgoing call, the recipient I dialed is unable to hear my voice. Its only on outgoing calls though. Incoming still works fine. It just happened recent when I flashed Warm Z, so I flashed Cyanogen thinking it was a problem with the ROM, and I have the same problem on Cyanogen. The touchpad also doesnt register during a call either. It makes a noise like it does. But thats all it does. Any ideas whats causing this?
Still haven't figured it out. Any insight into this?
Never experienced this personally, but try re-installing the dialer apk?

I tried that. No luck. It randomly worked earlier for a minute. But then I flashed CM7 and it stopped working. And I'm back to Warm Z and its not working again.
Did you do a clean wipe when installing?
Yep. Wiped data/cache/dalvik
By any chance, have you tried it again recently?
Yeah. All of this happened in the past 24 hours.
Have you tried force stopping it, then making a call?
No. Ill try that and report back
I would do a fuller wipe than that.
boot/data/system/dalvik/cache
then reflash. and try again.
same problem
I'm having the same problem with my phone. Only thing I've ever done to my phone was root it with unrevoked. Did you figure out a solution to your problem?
I just updated my profile on my phone... that seemed to do the trick.
Force stopping it didnt work. Now I notice I'm not able to receive picture messages either. It keeps saying "generic network failure"
I get the generic network failure error with incoming MMSs when my 4G is turned on. Turn off 4G and they'll come through maybe.

I recently got a new EVO as my last one over heated and craped out. long story short i got a new phone and rooted it with this method
[ROOT][GUIDE] HBoot 2.02/2.10 SOFF - There Will Be Root - Upd. 01.04.11
then i flashed the new fresh to start off with. then i decided i wanted to try something new so i went with AVAFROYO and loved it. then i decided to try cynogen 6.1 and read the easiest way was to just use the rom manager from android market somewhere so i used it. it wanted to me change from amon RA to clockwork so i let it. flashed CM 6.1 decided it was crap compared to AVA and flashed AVA back. then i sat around for a day enjoying that my phone wasnt ringing off hook all day as usual. but thats where the problem is. i cant recieve incoming call/texts/or voice mails. well i get the voice mails and texts when i make a call out. ive tried factory rest, nand back ups changing roms, udpating all my raidos and such. and the 3g just wont stay connected or my voice data.
ive exhausted all my options i think.. so theres what i did and what ive tried i figured id try everything else i could think of before i posted here for help. but here i am no closer to recieving calls.. so please HELP!
and also im almost to the point of unrooting and restoring stock RUUs to see if that would fix it. any suggestions would be greatly appriciated thanks
Did you nand like it said to? if you did the backup just revert back to that.. If not maybe try reflashing the radios?
Oh and also on the RUU yeah man I did that because I was having issues with the 4g. Its not that bad the 2nd time around ( rooting it again that is ) so just roll with it brah
I tried nandbackup didn't help at all. I get 3g and voice data fine when I'm making a call but when I'm not on the phone they both gray out and I don't receive incoming calls or texts.. just unroot and restore stock and take it back and get another new phone. It's only been like a week and a half..

Hmm really duno man. Ive seen this somewhere else on the forum. But im unsure where I seen it..
Have you tried loading a rooted stock rom yet?
That's my next step. Should I just do the latest rooted ota?

So I am able to send and receive phone calls and texts now.
Here's what I did. I went to the ##data and my evdo was set at hdr. I changed it to automatic rebooted and had a friend call and text me. Received both. Changed back and repeated. Didst receive. Changed to digital only and retried. Received both. Downloaded speedtest.net to test 3g speeds and a little disappointed with only 101kb avg down and 128 avg up. But hey least I can receive phone calls and texts now.
Anyone have any clues as to why the hdr was doing that?

well i guess HDR only always blocks incoming calls and texts from what ive pulled up on google. but i dont understand how my phone switched to HDR only, i have it on cdma HDR only now.. whats the default setting that the phone comes with anyone know?
Automatic I would think. That allows the phone to switch from 3g to 1x for voice and texts

HDR is what you want it on, that is true 3G. While you are in there go to the Data Profile section and under menu select Restore. When it comes back up let it update everything except Firmware.
That will re-activate your phone and should fix it.
restored my profile and it set evdo to automatic, i let it update all but firmware restarted activated phone. it worked on auto i changed it to HRD only and tested. Wasnt able to recieve calls or texts again changed it back to CDMA HDR only and it works. as long as i can recieve phone calls im ok with not having complete 3g service. i live in a 4g area and only really use my phone to tether for internet and as long as i have 4g and can recieve incomming calls and texts im fine. but still a bit confused as to why this happened.
and DDTM is diasbled
I've been seeing this problem for a few weeks now, with several different ROMs, including the original rooted stock ROM now. In nearly all of my recent calls, I get disconnected one or more times with the message "Call disconnected" and a "Dismiss" button. I'm thinking that this is because of my EVO and not the other side, since usually if they accidentally hang up or something the call just ends without a message box. As far as I can tell, I have good reception (at least according to the bars), and this is happening at home, where I've not had the problem before.
Does anyone know what could be causing this? My wife's EVO is not rooted, and she does not seem to be having this problem. But then again, I've not had the problem until fairly recently either. I've tried updating my profile and PRL with each new ROM, but it doesn't seem to have made a difference. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to stop this from happening?
Go into the settings menu andbupdate both your PRL and your profile. That *should* help with reception related issues.

Unfortunately, I've tried both of those things. I just did some testing today, and it seems that my phone is unable to stay connected during a phone call for more than five minutes before disconnecting, even if I don't touch the phone and just leave it sitting on a table.
Any other ideas? As far as I know, I haven't ever flashed my radio away from its default (2.15.00.11.19), and I'm currently using the leaked stock gingerbread ROM (build number 4.12.651.1 CL41771 release-keys and kernel 2.6.35.10-gaa602b7 [email protected] #1).
Maybe it's time to unroot and contact Sprint?
You can try downgrading from 2.15.00.11.19 to 2.15.00.09.01. You can download it from http://www.mediafire.com/file/jyedjkp1bm5amwm/EVO_Radio_2.15.00.09.01.zip
Afterwards, go into recovery, wipe cache & dalvik cache then flash the zip. You will be taken to the radio update screen and appear to hang. don't worry or get impatient. After it is finished, you will reboot into recovery and see the words "clearing cache" at the top of the screen. Simply select reboot and then you will boot to your homescreen. The initial boot will take a tad longer since it will be rebuilding the dalvik.
Hmm... I'm hesitant to downgrade my radio because my wife has an EVO with the same radio version number and hers doesn't have this problem. Granted, she is not rooted...
I understand. I've downgraded and upgraded everything several times for testing purposes and troubleshooting purposes and have never had a problem. The only hing about flashing radios is patience and not to pull the battery. Anyway, you can always call Sprint and see if they can troubleshoot it for you from their end.

I would contact sprint @ 877-809-6696 (advanced tech supp). Ask them to push a full reprovision to your device. See if that helps any. I was having issues when when on the airave, I was unable to receive incoming calls. This corrected it. I did try all the other steps listed above without any success.
This is interesting. I unrooted to test things out before calling Sprint, and the problem went away. I was able to stay connected for an hour (where before I couldn't last longer than 10-15 minutes). Yay, fixed, right? So, I rooted again and didn't install any ROMs or anything, just rooted, and the problem came back.
So, I have a solution, but I don't like it very much because it means I need to stay unrooted. Anyone have any idea why simply rooting the phone with Unrevoked 3 (and doing nothing else) could cause calls to disconnect? I'd love to be able to root again, but I can't deal with a phone that randomly disconnects all the time.
I am interested in this as well as I am rooted using unrevoked and get disconnected as well. I do find that it mainly happens though talking to people who have service on AT&T.. Quite wierd. All I hear is a beep then disconnected. This happens when I first place a call and it rings once or twice then beep, disconnected...
This may not be related to rooting. I'm still communicating with Sprint about this issue, and along they way they replaced my phone entirely, and the problem is still happening. Very frustrating, but it makes it very clear that the problem actually has nothing to do with the hardware. I'm pretty sure there is some network configuration problem on their end now. I'm waiting to root my new phone until this issue has been resolved. It is killing me!

So whats the final call on this ..?
Is it Rooting , Is it network .. i am too getting psyche with this .
I'm pretty sure it is not rooting. But I don't yet know for certain what it is. Sprint thought there might be something wrong with the antenna on my phone, but they had already replaced the phone, so I think that is unlikely. They gave me a femtocell range extender to use in my house. Basically, I plug it into my broadband connection, and it is like having a mini cell tower in my house, giving me a very strong connection. Sure enough, when connected to that, I haven't had any calls drop. However, my phone still sometimes doesn't connect to the femtocell and instead connects to some other tower for some reason. My wife's phone doesn't do this, so I still think there is something wrong with my phone. I may contact Sprint again about this. ...sigh...
What is your area some area evo don't work properly like on rahim yar khan in this time connection don't work properly some signal drop and some time up i sure after few day signal work properly then problems will be solve.
My phone EVO is doing this now as well. Has anyone heard/read a solution?

I am having the same issue, out of the blue. No problems up until a few days ago. I'm wondering if it is maybe an issue with a certain version of the Evo. I have a version 002. Thoughts?
Greg_99 any progress on what might be causing this issue?
Specs: been rooted for awhile. Currently running end of days rom by magnus. Can't think of anything else thats relevent.
Problem : my phone no longer will call anybody. It says everytime '' cannot make this call at this time, try again later'' doesn't matter who I call it won't go through. It started today as far as I can tell randomly. I have great service and everything else works just fine including 4g and gps.
I tried: nandroid restore of both a sense rom and destroyer (aosp) and also did a factory wipe and re installed my current rom. I also went through the settings to see if I did something dumb. I didn't see anything.
Any ideas would be great, I'm lost without my phone.
I was having trouble receiving calls last night, I think Sprint is working on their network again. Try updating your profile and prl through settings and that may help.

Updated but no difference. I also updated the radio as well, just for the hell of it. No luck
I was having issues with google voice 2 days before so I deleted the account. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but it won't let me make a new account now.
this mite sound dumb but did u pay ur bill?
unless you're having problems on every rom, i'd say look into the prl. i flashed a rom 3 weeks ago that changed the meid on a evo, dont ask me how, but its true. so you might wanna check that also if its been repaired
Lol, yes. Bill has never been late. And I up dated prl and have nandroided back to two different roms. No luck.
I'm having the same problem last outgoing call I was able to make was at 2am. Every call today says call lost. I'm running CM's latest nightly.
Do you have the google voice integration enabled by chance? My wife's EVO without the integration enabled works fine, mine with it enabled I get that unable to place your call at this time message all the time. I spoke with Sprint about it and they were no help. I think it's a google problem. That means good luck getting any support. Google is great until you need support for something.

I fixed mine by flashing a stock rooted rom made a outgoing call worked fine. Then flashed back to CM7 stable and everything is working again.
A few days ago my texts and calling stopped working on my phone. It is weird because if some people text me I will get all of them at once maybe once or twice a day and I can sometimes respond but it takes many attempts and usually doesn't work. I'm running JBSourcery 5.0 but this did not start until a few days after I installed it and after wiping everything then re-installing the rom it did not fix it. I've tried dialing *228 which took a lot of attempts for the call to go through and when it finally did it still did not fix it. I can still connect to 4g though, just no texting and calling. Anyone know anything else I can do to fix this?
I had an aosp rom insatlled and all was working fine.
Then out of the blue with no warning...I can no longer receive nor make calls. When I attempt a call i hear no dial tone...and when the person picks up the timer starts running but I cant hear anything and they cant hear me..
I flashed other roms and same issue. I even did an odin flash to stock and the problem persist. Both speakers are working. I tested both.
I dont know what the problem can be. Any ideas anyone?? please help
thanks in advance
(PS: all other phone features work, sms, web, lte etc)

I had this happen with my rom. It was so strange. In my case it would let me dial three numbers then I could dial no more. Couldn't recieve or make a call.. I did however fix the situation with flashing the rom again. Haven't had any trouble since. In your case somehow your radio might have gotten changed. You might look into what the radio was before the rom and possibly download that radio again. Or you can try basic ics radios and see if any work for you. You have nothing to loose by trying. You can get the radios here on xda. On my last device a similar thing happened to me and I had to flash a new radio. It did restore my abilities. Its worth a try. It could be what's going on with your device. It certainly wont hurt to try. I wish you the best and do hope this helps you.
Happens to me occasionally, reboot fixes it.

I had something similar happen to me with a AOSP rom. On Thursday I started having trouble with dropped calls and then yesterday it got worse and I was unable to make or receive calls at all. Right after dialing the phone would beep and the call would end. Data and SMS was fine.
After multiple reboots and a good amount of time it started working again. I'm not convinced I did anything to fix it. After reading about your problems I wonder if the cause was on the tmobile side.
