Does anyone know where the APN file is located? I mean the exact folder structure?
I have looked for it and can not find it. I am looking for it because I can not receive MMS or send MMS - it just acts like it is sending forever or downloading forever.
I have looked EVERYWHERE on these forums for the answer and I must be an idiot - because I can't find any info to help.
Here is what I am currently running....
Android Version: 2.2
Baseband Version: 2.15.00.09.01
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.17-gee557fdhtc-kernelatand18-2 #15
Build Number: Fresh Evo 3.5.0.1 by flipz
Software Number: 3.70.651.1
Browser Version: WebKit 3.1
PRI Version: 1.40_003
PRL Version: 60677
I really like the phone is working with this ROM - and I really don't want to reset it back to the factory settings....
Any info will be greatly appreciated!
try the free program "APN backup and restore"
You can dump your APNs to an xml file, check them out and modify them if necessary, and then reload them back into the phone easily
theres probly something wrong with the rom..or kernel havin the same issue with mikgin but hes fixin it also your pri maybe update it to at least 1.77? thoughts..never used fresh havent seen to many ppl that like it

HTC Evo 4G only receives MMS messages after i first restart it. So every time i get a new MMS i have to restart the phone. I just rooted it and flashed the Energy room. any suggestions, thanks
Well, what ROM are you running and what msg app? Have you taken the simple way out and tried using GO SMS? I'm not a big fan of this app but mostly if the ROMs local msg isn't receiving MMS, this will...

I used GO SMS but its the ROM itself. I checked another website and alot of people were complaining about it. Its the Energy ROM

Ahhh....OK OK....unfortunately I can confirm that I ran Energy as well about a month ago and I too had mms issues then. But that is not a reflection on the current version. Have you tried pulling a msg.apk out of another sense based rom? Try pulling it from Nitrous, I know that mms works on that.

Can't send or receive MMS on Sprint! Help!
I need some help here folks. So I had a lapse in thinking one day and "nearly" acceptance an OTA. I accidently clicked accept and immediately stopped it (shut off my phone etc). Well apparently it downloaded far enough to where the next time I reset my phone it installed it automatically. It didn't even tell me it was installing it just told me my phone had been updated. Now I need help. First here is the info on my phone...
Sprint Evo 4G running Ginger Bread (2.3.5), Kernel - 2.6.35.10-g4b48446. My phone is rooted, but I still have the stock ROM.
So my phone updated the software to the newest version 4.67.651.3. I know at the beginning of this thread there is an alert message about not downloading it (as with any OTA's on a rooted phone), but it did and now I'm here.
So my problem is that now I cannot send or receive MMS. It sits there acting like it's trying to send without ever sending it. Is it possible to revert back to an older software version (assuming this is what broke the MMS in the first place)? Help from any of you would be GREATLY appreciated!
I have the same problem running miui
I know starting new threads is a risky thing here, but I feel my situation is peculiar/unique enough to justify the risk.
I've been running CM7 and using ChompSMS (donated) ever since using Android, many devices ago. This is the first time something like this has ever happened. A couple days ago, my phone stopped downloading MMSs. I can send myself a message (text with a subject) and the notification that the message is waiting for me will come in, but it will not download. I called Sprint and got the code to reprovision the phone, so I downloaded a stock rom and punched it in. The stock rom would download messages just fine. Switching back to CM7 (I tried multiple nightly builds, as well as the most recent stable build), the messages stopped coming in again. I googled all over the place and the best solutions I found was to delete "telephony.db" or to try "APN backup & restore," restoring the APN with settings that worked for somebody else. Every time I restored the APN, it would just remove all the entries. I tried to restore defaults (which brought back a "Sprint" one), reboot, no dice.
The only solution I've gotten to thus far was to download Go SMS Pro, which can download the MMS, after the notification has already come in and I go in to hit download manually. Yes, this gets the job done, but it's just a band-aid over the problem. I'm mostly curious just what exactly caused this, why it persists over every CM install (but not the stock rom), and why I can't seem to find any way to fix it.
A quick update to this, in case anybody has been keeping tabs. This problem spans across multiple roms. I've since installed an MIUI ICS rom, more versions of CM7, a very buggy version of CM9 ported, and another gingerbread rom, all of which kept the problem going. The only rom that works is the most recent rooted stock rom I downloaded. I REALLY don't want to go back to stock if I can help it. Any ideas now? Would flashing new radios help this? If so, I have to be S-OFF to do so, correct?
Thanks for all your help, those that do!
been having the save issue with MMS but I use Handcent not chompSMS, it also wont download using the Roms stock SMS app. it seems to happen on any ASOP rom that I've tried. but any sense based roms seem to work fine. goSMSpro also works for me if I manually hit download (thanks cause that's better than nothing). I have tried to flash new radios, along with flashing CM with a formatted mem car. and nothing seems to work. so If you find a resolution please keep this updated. good luck
I've been having the same problem for the past couple weeks with CM7. I've tried everything the Google suggested, changing the APN, turning off auto-retrieve, disabling MMS with Sprint and re-enabling it after a while, etc., nothing worked. I tried a few different roms too. I can't get MMS to work on any rom unless it's sense based.

Doing this won't cause any other issues? I really want to get this to work because I'm having the same issue on a CM7-based rom.

It says in the first post, we tried deleting telephony.db
Some of us have tried flashing multiple fresh roms, which I believe would delete telephony.db
Mms won't work unless it's a sense based rom.

I run into the same issue on Deck's Reloaded occasionally. More often than not, though, MMS works. Have never bothered troubleshooting it since it's hardly ever an issue.

Same problem
I'm having the same problem with CM7 on Evo 4G. I can get it to work with sense based rom and goSMS (thank you for posting that, I was about to bail on CM7 completely). Stock messenger and handcent won't work. I saw on another thread someone said it would work until flashing gapps, but I haven't tried that. I even tried backing up APN from a sense rom that would work, and restoring it to CM7, as well as deleting telephony.db, nothing works.
Yeaaahhh MMS can either go 1 of 2 ways. Either you try to get it to work and it works fine, like I just did on my evo, OR *nothing* you do seems to make it work.
I should know, I spent about 6 months earlier this year (on and off) getting MMS to work on my HTC Hero.
With that said, the first step is to make sure you're putting in the right APN info.
Start with deleting /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony*
Next, make sure you have the correct APN info in /system/etc/apns-conf.xml
You'll probably have to either sysrw in android terminal or "adb remount" on pc/mac/linux/whatever to make changes to that file.
This one should work on ICS/JB:
google sprint apns-conf.xml
Should be the last one, searchco.de
Just change the version to 6 if you want to use it on GB.
Reboot to make the system create a new telephony.db from /system/etc/apns-conf.xml
If that doesn't work, you may need more apn changes, framework-res.apk changes, mms.apk changes, etc. etc.
Currently my phone will only download mms that is 200kb or less with either the stock messaging app or handcent. I'm going to try some of the trouble shooting steps on this thread and see if anything works.
If anyone has a fix they know of that fixes this particular problem please let me know.

My girlfriend is having the same problem as everyone else when it comes to MMS. She has my old Evo 4G running CM 7.1. I wiped the cache and dalvik cache, updated the PRL and profile with a sense ROM, but none of this fixed the problem. I can confirm that Go SMS Pro will download picture mail that neither the standard messaging app or Handcent could (they both gave the error "download of message New Message from SENDER was unsuccessful"). Hopefully a fix can be found soon. BTW, thanks for the tip omegastu!
Update:
This fixed my problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1794956
so I flashed Lifeless rom v14 a, the ZVB Radio Update M9615A-CEFWMAZM-2.0.1690: and Joker kernel. I was coming from lifeless v11 and old radio. ever since flashing i cant send short text messages they fail to send 75% of the time if I send a complete sentence it goes through no problem. I tried restoring with a nandroid i had from twrp with efs backed up it didnt fix it and now my wifi wont connect to home network even though it recognizes it as saved. I reflashed lifeless v14 and new radio, wifi works again but text has same issue. I downloaded Go sms pro and set send settings to send through smsc with sprints # , still wont fix it. I had sprint send a refresh signal didnt work. I have an older nandroid through cwm recovery that i want to flash but I get a md5 mismatch . I tried to fix md5 through adb but my computer wont pick up usb debugging in charge only mode only when media sync is enabled. I deleted and re-installed the drivers, different cables and ports still wont work. Any ideas for either issue guys?[/B]
Ever get it fixed? i can't send any texts and it was working fine with several roms till yesterday. Even called sprint and got one text to send and then it stopped again.
I was using CarbonROM based on JB 4.3.1 but was getting fed up with not being able to connect with families oversea through VOIP such as skype, viber, etc... because the mic doesn't work with voip apps in AOSP Roms. So I decided to go back to stock and full flash samsung's 4.3 stock rom via Odin 3.9; the rom was 2.24GB extracted so I'm almost certain and well aware that it's the bloated tmo samsung tw version.
About device show android version 4.3, baseband M919UVUEMK2, and I can get LTE signal fine but cannot toggle wifi on. And when I go to place a phone call the entire UI freeze and won't respond, then come the "Process com.android.phone isn't responding" dialog box. Except for wifi and phone call everything else seems to work, but I haven't tested extensively yet nor are they important to me.
From here I went about installing latest CWM recovery and SU, and I was able to install OmniROM and CM11 nightlies. But the phone UI freezing problem still persist even with those custom roms.
At this point I have an inkling it has something to do with the new MK2 modem. I noticed that when installing the stock fw it had modem.bin and NON-HLOS.bin entries in Odin. I read through other threads and some mention about not installing NON-HLOS.bin file, but it was included in the stock fw so I don't know why it would misbehave (if it's the culprit)
At this point I am out of options. Someone with knowledge and experience with this please give helps or suggestions. Thank you!
If you flashed via Odin, you had no choice with the non _hlos.bin. That's only for peoples sticking with mdl bootloader but flash 4.3 ROM.
Have you tried a factory reset after updating to 4.3
☞ Sent from here☜
I did a factory reset in TW and it still freeze. I can open the dialer app, punch in a number or choose from contact list, but as soon as I hit Dial the whole phone freeze. The connection is made because I test dialed my home phone # and it rang, just that I could not get the phone to talk. No dial sound from the phone, screen it black; I can see status bar but it won't respond to my touch. When I pick up the home phone and tried to make a conversation there's no sound coming out of the S4, and even if I yell real loud into the mic no voice is carried over to the home phone.
I tried installing latest Omni rom 4.4.2 kitkat nightly, did a factory reset after letting phone sit still at home screen for 5 mins after installation, still can't get the phone app to do its job at all.
Edit: forgot to mention that the phone is unlocked and I'm using Straight Talk AT&T LTE sim. LTE works fine, just no calling due to this update problem here.
nvm I fixed it by reflashing a file Modem_UVUAMDL.tar.md5 until it turns back to MDL baseband, then flashed modem.bin only and it everything works again.

i'm having the same issue, I was to download the modem_UVUAMDL.tar.md5 but it did not include the modem.bin. is it safe to use any version of the modem.bin file I find here?
This one has me stumped.. I have a rooted Epic 4G with Pac-Man ROM installed. I started service with Ting a couple months ago, but got someone's used phone number which receives all kinds of creditor calls and random text messages. I downloaded and used FC09 multiboot option to be able to change my MSL to Ting which worked fine the first time. Voice and Data both worked. After 2 months of random phone calls from all over, i decided i wanted to try to get my old Sprint number moved to the Epic 4G. I booted into FC09, changed the MSL for the new number, but now cant get past hands free activation. I can get voice and text working if i enter the phone number and MSID through the dialer codes (##MSL#). The 3G symbol shows right after a MSL reset, but if i try to edit data settings, i lose the 3G symbol. This happens when trying to edit data under both the FC09 and Pac-Man ROM. I also have to switch back and forth to ns4g modem and the FC-09 modem when using multiboot. PRL and Profile updates do not work under either ROM as well.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Have you had any luck?
If all else fails you may have to revert back to stock FC09 to get things working again. If there are still issues with the stock FC09 then you might call Ting and see if they can help you out.
After making sure everything is working with stock FC09 then reflash your custom ROM. I have not noticed any of the problems you have described with multi-boot FC09 and CyanogenMod v10 stable on my Epic 4G.
