I have just rooted my HTC Desire HD.
One of my favorite apps start to bugg and the programmer believe that I have to flash a new kernel.
I have kernel: Linux version 2.6.32.21-g3d0aff (htc-kernel[a t]and18-2)(gcc version 4.4.0 (GCC)) #1 PREEMPT Wed Dec 1 17:09:51 CST 2010
ROOT + S-off
Android: 2.2.1
Rom: 1.72.405.3
Radio: 12.28g.60.140fU_26.05.05.27_M3
How do I flash the kernel?
And where do I download a good kernel?
PS: My ROOT is still valid after kernel flashing right???
That seems to be an old kernel to be honest.
What ROM are you using? You'd be able to find the recommended kernel in that thread. What app is it?
This is exactly what I'm using (Just as the step by step in this thread):

Ah, my apologies, I took it to mean you had a custom ROM installed. Therefore I have no idea what would be a good kernel for you as I didn't have to downgrade. Sorry, maybe someone else can help
The Leedroid kernel 2.2.3 and buzz 1.34 are best for daily use while kamma kernel is the benchmark king.

Thanks,
I would go for the most stable one.
Will this work with my Desire HD? You got my settings above...
And how do I get this kernel?
Do you have clockworkmod or ENG S-OFF? If you have ENG S-OFF, use my kernel update utility. If you have clockworkmod, use that. If you have neither of those, you have to get one.

Go to the relevant thread in the development section.
Leedroid kernel is in the OP for the Leedroid 2.2.2 rom.
Buzz and Kamma have their own threads.

My desire hd is running 2.3.3 now and I want to root my phone without downgrading because I don't know how to downgrade.
So my question is. Can I root my desire hd without downgrading or is my firmware too high?
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
without downgrade is impossible
Doesnt the advanced ace hack work?
If not do you think there will be a direct root for 2.3.3 soon?
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
I'm pretty sure the only possible way is the downgrade.
There is not really any point in devs looking into rooting 2.3 as you can do a simple downgrade.
It's not hard read some info and go for it.

First off, unlock your bootloader via HTCdev. Then root. Download ROM Manager from the market, and flash cwm recovery.
From there you can flash roms
Wait. For android ics 4. 0. 3 and sense 4. 0 please fallow this thread.

upgrade to 2.3.5 then do it, it's recommended or something
as for a somewhat stable ICS rom with a few issues, i'd recommend this rom, it's pretty nice.

Then you didn't get a brick. A brick is a dead device and yours is not.
