[Q] Possible to fix DevNull USB conection spelling mistake? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I'm using the DevNull Rom and its amazing and the only small (very small) bug I've found and seen noted elseware is the small mistake / spelling error when connecting via USB.
I'm wondering if anyone has already fixed this and could explain how or provide the fix or if some one could explain how I could fix it myself. I was thinking I could this part of the rom from another ROM (Oxygen 2.0 or RC7 for example) would that work? Where abouts in the ROM would these buttons / images be?
BTW I understand that its a personal ROM and no support is being given by AdamG or _thalamus and thats why I'm asking if anyone else has fixed it or asking for some help in fixing it myself.
Thanks for your help!

Hardware: HTC Desire - AMOLED
Recovery: CWM-AlphaRev Recovery v2.5.1.8

Kernel: kernel-2.6.37.2_r2
Radio: 5.11.05.27
HBOOT: 0.93 S-OFF Bravo Oxygen Table

You could use Oxygen 2.0 since it is 2.3.3.

Thanks for your reply but saying I could use another ROM just because the one I am happy with has one small spelling mistake seems a little silly.
This is site is all about development and I would like the ROM I have and would just like to develop it a little.
I've been doing some more research and I think the answer could be in the usb_storage_activity.xml which is in the framework-res.apk, will try and do some more tests later.

DevNull is Adam's personal ROM so unless he wants to change it it's unlikely to happen

No wonder AdamG gets pissed off with this site as I think people dont read... If you read my first post you will see that I am well aware that this is AdamG's personel ROM. He shared it with the comunity so they could use it and develop it as they like. Yes he stated he will not develop it and not take change requests but that is not what i'm asking here.
I'm asking:
a) has 'anyone else' who is using this fixed this 'themselves' and would they be willing to share the fix.
or
b) can any developer / person with some know how, point me in the right direction for how I could devlop a fix for this issue myself.

It's just a spelling mistake. It's on CM7 too but you would have to change something to put the spelling right. If it's annoying that much don't use 2.3.3.

[Q] 1.75.163.2 and S-OFF

Hi all,
Owner of an HD2 i recently switch to the Desire HD, unfortunatly i've installed the HTC update, here is my system actually
Android version : 2.2.1
BaseBand : 12.28e.60.140fU_26.04.02.17_M2
Kernel : 2.6.32.21-g1e30168
[email protected] #1
Build Number : 1.75.163.2 CL301245 release keys
Software Number : 1.75.163.2
Browser version : Webkit 3.1
I would like to :
- Disable the simlock (lock to my provider actually)
- Get rid of these provider's apps
- Be able to flash every rom that i want
I've read a lot in the forum but was not able to found a solution, for what i've undertood there is no way to S-OFF post 1.72 version of the software because of security issues...
Is it possible to do this
- Downgrade to 1.32.405.6
- Root and S-OFF the phone
- Upgrade to the fully rooted WWE 1.72.405.3 (or 1.75 rooted if there is one)
Thanks for your lights ..
Ps : Hoo yes, is there any way to backup my actual rom (1.75) ..? Throught adb or something else..
Hi,
Unless your DHD had Radio S-OFF prior to the update there is no way back present. Give it a few weeks and a solution will have been found.

Telus HTC Desire HD 2.3.3 Root and Flash

Hello XDA forum!
I've been researching my topic for some time now and I noticed alot of vague information and the only usefull info seemed to be specific to each model... So, I have a Desire HD and my carrier is telus.
1. Is my phone branded or not? (There's not a bunch of telus apps or wallpapers, there is just one telus scene. Also it says HTC on the back where you would expect it to say telus)
2. Can you downgrade the Telus HTC Desire HD running 2.3.3 Gingerbread at this time? If so what tools would you use?
The reason I am doing this is because everything seems to be very vague information that, like stated above, seems to be specific to each post. However all the posts that I've read don't describe the methods used to identify key information or how to troubleshoot what to do if a step doesn't work (ex. Getting $ instead of #)
If someone could post back on this it would aid me greatly. I aim to downgrade, root, and flash Android Revolution HD and possibly a new radio to improve battery life and signal strength (which is non-existent in my basement)
My phone info is...
Android version:
2.3.3
HTC Sense version:
2.1
Baseband version:

Thanks in advance!
PS. Any additional information you require from me don't hesitate to ask!
Now running Android Revolution HD!!
Ok so I found some key factors in this that I'd like to point out to anyone looking into rooting and flashing a custom rom.
First Downgrade
Settings > About Phone > Software Information > "Build number"
That is what you're looking at when searching for a downgrade. 1.32.405.6 is what you want to be at.
The downgrade guide I used is here.
Remember if your build number is above 2 you'll need to use section 2b and skip 2a
Make sure you download the attached folder at the bottom of the first post and the stock 1.32 ROM (link in section 1)
After this point I had a stock phone with 2.2 Froyo build number 1.32.405.6. My speakers did not work (no sound at all) and I could not connect to the mobile network which alarmed me at first thinking that Telus wouldn't like me hacking my phone or something x3
Second Root
Telus Desire HD - Rooting and Flashing
This was the first guide I tried to follow and it would have worked if it had simply added in that extra file and the commands:
Code:
adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp
adb push fre3vo /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/fre3vo
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version
adb shell
./data/local/tmp/fre3vo -debug -start FBB00000 -end FFFFFFFF
Anyways I downloaded the files for this one (the light version since I had previously downloaded the PD98IMG.zip) and skipped to step B.b
I did the temproot successfully but the easy radio tool wouldn't work for me so I just used Visionary+ to permroot and Then I got the superuser request on my phone and the radio finished rapidly.
Went very smoothly after that.
Third Flashing!
Finally the time came when I was ready to flash my shiny new ROM. I read through step C of the above mentioned guide but decided to go through with the proccess mentioned in [ROM] Android Revolution HD™ 6.1.3 since it was more of a do it yourself thing and I like starting clean (it wants you to run superwipe from cwm before flashing the new rom)
I would recommend using a card reader rather than mounting as a disk drive cause it's more reliable.
Hope this helps someone!
Not sure if this has been said or not but:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/how-to-root-the-htc-desire-hd/
It's as easy as "download, run" and it works brilliantly!
I suggest you just boot a Ubuntu Live CD (it's not as bad as it sounds, I actually liked it the first time I tried it and now I have it installed by my Windows) and just run the command:
wget http://droid.neolobster.com/roms/aahk-25102011.zip && unzip aahk-25102011.zip && sudo ./hack-ace.sh
Click to collapse
in terminal, press "1" and be afk for 5 mins.
Doesn't erase your data, doesn't format your phone, doesn't downgrade your Android OS. It...it just works!
Good luck with it

Yeep! It sure does work I tried it and flashed the android revolution hd rom. Brilliant thanks a lot! Only thing is the sound seems a little different. It is much louder but also has this tinny effect at times. I will patch the cm7 audiofix and see how it goes.

Brick or not brick? Help please T_T

Hello! I am sorry to get all of you into this mess with me just with my first thread. I´ll explain my current problem...
I was on CM 7.1, wanted to install Defy+ rom from Walter79, i did everything as the post explains but after installing fixed sbf, the phone just stays on M logo, make some intent to pass it and gives me the bootloader screen with this error err:a5, 70, 00, 00 ,2F... If someone can help me, please, i´ll appreciate a lot. Thanks from Argentina.
You will call me newbie, and you´ll be right xD.
Are you sure you flashed the fixed sbf? When did you get this error? After flashing a froyo rom? If yes, you flashed the full sbf.
Well, thank you for your reply! Lucky as smart, i try to find my original SBF, i went back to Froyo and then i did it again but directly from there...i choose again a new Defy rom with buttonfix from the Walter79´s folder (from do not which uploader) and try it again. But when i use the same fixed-sbf, i got stuck on the same loop...i flashed it again but with the fixed-sbf for the SOC green camera. It worked and now i am done.

Well, thanks for your confidence, i do not know a lot, but i am learning on the middle, i have read a lot and i feel able to help you, nobody helped me because i have made stupid questions :S...
Well, you said you want to update your Eclair to a new fresh platform ...but how high do you want to go? Do you know about the capabilities of the higher android versions? Plus...what do you want? I went from official 2.2 to CM7.1 wasn´t bad, it were very stable and fluid, a lot of customizations but non BLUR...so i decided to keep the most original GB as i can. So now i am on the Defy+ some some 1321.
I guess that first at all, if you want to go upgrade you should taste 2.2 anyways to go high.
Check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537 and when you decide to go, i will help you if you want .
first root your defy, install 2nd init then chose which rom is better for you taste you may tray CM7 or CM9 or walters79 roms if you like blur stuff.
read this thread it may help you a lot!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982

if you install any CM7 or CM9 try to use base band switcher to get you cell on the right GSM network .
if you install any other rom you can edit the APN on your cell MENU>SETTINGS>WIRELESS & NETWORKS>MOBILE NETWORKS>ACCESS PIONT NAMES >MENU>NEW APN
Search on google the APN for your service provider.
if it help you hit the thanks at the end .
Install the 5/03/2012 quraks versión of CM 9 it comes with baseband switcher (on advanced settings) select argentina 900 2100 or something like that and then Google your Internet provider Apn and configure them (the last message shows how to do that )and you are done
Enviado desde mi MB525 usando Tapatalk
Like that guy said, the problem is very common if you upgrade your firmware, if you got a network problem, install Defy_Baseband Switcher and choose the one for your country. Unless you live in a country not included on it, what would be a mess but i trust that you can do it.

ps:sorry for my english
After you activate the bluetooth, open a terminal and type dmesg.
You can redirect the output to file.txt by typing "dmesg > /sdcard/file.txt" ( without quotes )
Paste the output here please.
Not sure, but this may be due to the radio.
Seems you have the latest stock radio http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687464
Please take a look here too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902752
And please read a lot about it before trying something, not sure but I think you can brick your device by flashing radio..

You can copy/pasta to pastebin or someting like that, and paste the link here.
One question, how did you use the bluetooth ? Just by using widget ? Because you have to go in bluetooth settings, activate bluetooth here, make the device identifiable ( by default 120 sc ) and use it.
For the radio, I prefer you wait somebody who knows the subject better than I.. But yes i think it could resolve the problem if it's a problem of this kind.
I personnaly use 32.54.00.32U_5.14.05.17. It's older than yours but it works like a charm.

[Q] HTC Desire HD People App Stops Working When Phone Connected to Charger

Hi,everyone!
I tried posting this in the TrickDroid thread, but the system won't let me post there,
because this is my first post in xda-developers. (At least, I think it is, but I certainly
haven't made 10 posts yet, which is the requirement for posting in a development thread).
Anyway, it seems that the system is quite happy about me posting in this forum, so I'm
hoping I might be able to get some answers here!
BTW, I've already done several searches and checked the FAQs.
My problem is as follows:
I have an HTC Desire HD, rooted, and running the following software:
Android Version: 4.0.4
HTC Sense Version: 4.1
Software number: TrickDroid v4.0.0 by torxx
HTC SDK API level: 4.11
HTC Extension version: HTCExtension_403_1_GA_5
Kernel version: [email protected])) null
Baseband version: 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M
Build number: 2.22.401.1 CL92876 release-keys
Browser version: WebKit/534.30
I installed TrickDroid using 4Ext Recovery.
Mostly I have no problems with it, except that it seems a little slow, but there is
one strange error that happens whenever I connect the phone to a charger, (regardless
of whether it is via USB or a mains charger.
The error message says: "Unfortunately, People has stopped." There is an "OK" button to tap.
At first, I though it had something to do with mounting the SD card in Windows Explorer, but then
I noticed that it also happens when I connect the phone to a mains charger, so, I guess it must have
something to do with charging mode.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or if anyone has any idea what might be causing
this problem.
Many thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!
Best regards to all
Chris Souter
