[Q] CyanogenMod Nightlies to CoreDroid - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Everyone,
Quick question:
In ROM Manager, i'm seeing the "CoreDroid" as a rom to download with a note indication that is does not affect "User Data".
Can you please explain to me what is user data as apposed to system data?
How will this affect Apps, Contacts, Messages and Emails stored on my phone with CyanogenMod Nightlies (8) currently on it?
In your opinion, how do both roms compare? What rom would you recommend with sense in it?
Thanks

hello anyone?

User data is your contacts, SMS' etc.
I haven't tried CM7, so i can't say anything regarding that ROM

[Q] Changing to CM6

Yo. So, I've been wanting to experiment with CM6 because you guys rant and rave over it, so I change my bootloader and nandroided my Fresh 3.3 setup. I have a Titanium from my Fresh 3.3 days as well.
So, how do I get my contacts/apps/settings and stuff back? This rom is obviously AOSP, so my settings for Sense-based applications don't have a place. What about my contacts? They were in my HTC Contacts app. Is there a way to transfer them to the stock Android Contacts app?
Should I restore my Titanium backup, or is that a bad idea because this is AOSP? I searched, but no luck. I'm sure somebody's done this.
Edit: Also, in other news, I don't have a data connection. Was there a radio update I should've done or something?
Bump. Come on, I want to use CM6 to its fullest. I tried another search and I can't find much.

The easiest way to back up contacts with aosp is with gmail and google apps.
The contacts should have synced into your Google/Gmail account. If it didn't, you probably messed up by disabling background syncing either completely or by disabling contact syncing specifically.
Mybackup..for everything.

Thanks for the responses. So, Google should have put my contacts back on by now? I have automatic sync enabled and everything, but I've never had it restore my contacts before. I signed into Google upon installing the gapps zip on the CM6 page, but still no contacts.
Also, can I hit restore "all data and apps" and stuff in Titanium, or is that a bad idea?

Better question: Did you have background sync, your Google Account, and Google Sync enabled back on your previous ROM?
Check https://www.google.com/contacts to be sure.
I ended up nandroiding back to my Fresh setup, exporting my contacts to my SD and then going back to CM6 and importing them. Then Google synced them without any problems. The apps don't really matter.
I'm really digging CM6. I thought I would miss Sense a lot and switch back after an hour, but this is awesome.

Are you just missing the Google Apps? Most people's contacts are either associated with their Gmail account or the Facebook account.
If you need the Gapps, go to http://goo-inside.me/gapps and download the appropriate ones (the 20110307 are likely the most appropriate).
If you didn't back up your previous ROM, you cannot retrieve your "stuff", but once you install the Gapps, you can download any previous Market purchases again.

Are you referring to the built in hotspot tether or the app wireless tether? There is a fix for the app. Search the forum to find it if that is what you mean. Go into settings and then accounts and sync and make sure Facebook is set up to sync. If that doesn't help be a little more specific as to what you mean. Could be as simple as a fix permissions and reboot!

[Q] Google Calendar Sync - sense roms

When using sense roms (stock, ARHD, blade, Venom) the calendar syncs up when the account is first created, but won't update in any direction after that. This happens either through the built in app or google calendar.
Using an AOSP based rom I don't have this problem, has anybody else experienced the same problem?
Now the solution would be to use an AOSP app, but I'm finding even with the latest released (Trips 10.1, pabx's AOSP, ICJ 4.2.1) there's little bugs that stop me using them, and I find the calendar bug less of an annoyance.
I would post in the appropriate thread for the rom I'm using but I don't yet have 10 posts
Thanks for any help.
Nobody else seeing this?

Gmail notifications not working on 4.2.2

Has anyone noticed that gmail no longer seems to notify for any mail that's being received?
I'm running both cm10.1 unofficial nightlies and also aokp. Both roms having the same issue. All other notifications work, well I say all I can actually receive any sms messages.
I've tried clean install, wiping data etc all the usual remedies but noting worked.
Any ideas or thoughts would great about how to resolve this.
Thanks

Just in case, have you checked that auto-sync is enabled (it's off by default afaik in jellybean)
Go in "Settings / Data Usage" then press "Menu" then check "Auto-sync".
This might fix your problem
(ps: click thanks if i helped, i'm new here !)
Can you check that
Settings > audio >Vibrate on notification is not checked
Worked for me
