hello all, i have a problem. i currently have a EB13 stock froyo rooted rom that comes with the eb13 modem. i rooted with the simpleroot with the cw3 recovery. the problem is, when i boot into recovery and my file system is changed to EXT4, it breaks my 4g... if i just reboot after that i have no 4g, or if i flash midnight, i have no 4g... any ideas??
Did you flash a DE-Odexed EB13 Rom? (ala Dameon's or otherwise)
If so, Wifi and 4G not working is a known issue. He's been busy helping us port CyanogenMod 7 though. (Read: doing all the work >.>)

I'm using midNIGHT rom v4.1 update and I have no issues with wifi or 4g. You may try to Odin EB13 stock, then CWM3, and install midNIGHT rom v4.0, the the 4.1 update to get wifi and 4g to work. That's the route I took and I haven't any problems.

hello,
i first rooted the epic 4g eclair with one click root and then i rooted it to clockwork 3.0.0.5. after that i installed the new viperrom, but in the rom, the airplane mode keeps turning ON and OFF.
i have tried different roms like moonlight, etc. but the same problem.
is there a way to solve this problem ??
is there a way to go back to rfs from ext4 ??
please help
rahul
first, we gotta figure out what the problem is. my guess is you're not on the DK28 modem.
go to settings > about phone and post what it says for Baseband version. The last 4 letters should be DK28. if its not, you'll have to check development for posts on how to get the DK28 modem, i think you can flash it by itself in ODIN or there might even be an update.zip for just the modem now, not sure.
once you do that, i'd reflash the ROM, then see where you're at. if you already have the DK28 modem, you might want to either re-ODIN the whole DK28 rel.tar or maybe even go back to DI18, your call.
thanks. i finally managed to flash back to DI18 using odin. that was a relif. thans again
You probably just needed to do a fresh flash before you flashed froyo did you odin the modem and pit file? That's not airplane mode flashing on and off it was just your phone not able to get a signal from the tower proper.

Hey guys,
so i am having a bit of an issue. I did a search and didnt find anything as far as this problem.
So here is the problem, i am not getting ANY audio or haptic feedback on my epic. I came from the stock eb13 i made a backup of it in CWM before the ext4. I rooted using Dameons on click root EB13 with cwm 2.5. I then flashed Bonsai 3.0. I had some problems with that so i went back to stock DK27 with Odin. I used Odin to then update the kernal and go back to stock EB 13 using noobln's files for going back to stock. I was fine until I flashed the kernal patch for video lag on the camera and tried to install the Hulu patch. I have restored twice now to my backup from before ext4 yet the phone is still rooted.
could the kernal be in conflict with the stock EB13? If it is still the kernal with EXT4?
I am also getting a window that says my internet connection isnt working but it will load everything.
Would doing a full wipe and and Odin back to stock EB13 get rid of this?
everything else is working flawlessly except for sound and haptic feedback.
Can anyone tell me what files I should use in order tio just odin back to eb13? I am afraid I may hav mixed up the pit file and the tar. May be why I am having issues as well?

Small update. Wiped the phone and flashed the viper kernal and rom. Still have the same issue. I must say though I like. The viper teams rom.
Ok so I was looking over some things and it turns out that Odin did not load the PIT file when I tried to go back to EB13. Would this cause this issue?
So I did a full factory reset to stock EB13. No luck, still having the problem. Maybe its a hardware issue then. I unrooted it andd Odined back to stock, and nothing.
This is frustrating.
I tried to post this on the actual thread about this Update, but I was not allowed because I had not posted 10 times previously.
Anyway, I am new to rooting Android phones….new to android phones for that matter. I have had the Samsung Epic 4G for about a month. I have been looking into rooting the phone, finally decided to go for it. I downloaded the filre for Clockwork Mod version 3.0.0.5/6 - UPDATED FOR EB13 from this site. After doing one run of that bat file and getting stuck on the startup screen, I realized I needed to find a compatible ROM and Kernel and install them before rebooting.
I reset the phone to default settings, using the info on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=909384 and then I used the kernel
from the original update thread, Default Stock Dual FS kernel For EB13, and the Bonzai ROM from their website. This time, the install worked properly, and when my phone rebooted, the firmware is listed as Bonsai/Kernel_v4.01. So I wanted to backup and uninstall some Samsung Bloatware from the phone, and as I understand it, the Titanium Backup is the best way to do it. Well, I installed it, and it has consistently said the program could not acquire root status. I clicked on the “problems” icon, got busybox and upgraded superuse, and that did not effect anything. I even reflashed the Bonzai Rom, but the end result is the same, I am still getting that same message. Since I have replaced my Rom and have installed Superuser, I have to assume I have rooted the phone, so what could be the problem here? The app SetCPU also says I do not have Root Access. So I am not sure what to do at this point.
Sounds like a failed root:
Root again with the oneclick 3.0.0.6, power off, 3 finger boot and ext4 will be put on automatically. After ext4 installs install bonsai before rebooting.

Is there a difference between onclick 3.0.0.6 and the one in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897612,which is labelled 3.0.0.5/6? Because, if not, that is pretty much what I have done already.
Same one.
I would odin to eb13, odin ec05 modem, root, boot to recovery and allow ext4, flash bonsai 4.0.1. Can't remember if 4.0.1 adds ec05 modem during flash, but if it does you can skip the ec05 odin (sorrry, but my mind has been on 4.1.0 for the last week).
The odin process will get rid of the kernel you currently have. Flashing the rom doesn't do anything to the kernel. The odin process will give you a nice clean slate to workv with. If your phone wants to do an ec05 OTA update during this process please tell it later and don't do it.
Suggest you peruse the Bonsai Forum as you will find a lot of treats that will be able to help you. Http://www.bonsaigeeks.com

This exact thing happened to me after trying everything from the EC05 OTA. Just run the bat file again on the phone...nothing else and it will work fine.
Okay, I just spent over 6 hours fussing with my phone. I'll try to keep it short and simple.
My phone was running GB 2.3.3. Then a RandomROM HAWK. I was wanting my phone to run EXT4. But, I could not get it to that. When I rooted it with CWM 3.1.0.1, that did not convert the system. Running the RFStoEXT4 zip also did not work.
I just now un-rooted and went back to stock EC05 2.2.1
I then ran CWM 3.0.0.6, which did successfully convert to EXT4.
"FINALLY!", I thought. I wipe data, cache, Dalvik three times. I go to flash a SyndicateROM 1.2, and I get stuck at the Samsung screen.
I've just spent a long time on my phone, and it doesn't help that there are way too many methods to root, unroot, update, flash this, flash that, and it doesn't help that there isn't one simple way to:
Root
Convert to EXT4
Update to Gingerbread 2.3.3/2.3.4
Without going through endless links. That's all I want to do.
I would do more searching however, I've spent enough time on the internet and I really, really need a break. Could someone please help point me in the right direction?
SRF 1.2 doesn't come with a kernel. Upgrade to purple CWM 3.1.0.1 if you haven't yet and flash a kernel and reboot. You should be good after that

Any particular kernel or just any will do?

Any custom kernel you choose.
Posted by Mr. Z's Epic 4G.
I hate sounding like a pompous jerk but, the OP says in the post that it had no kernel >.< READ MAN READ!!!!
Anyways, to kinda help, Genocide's kernel works perfect with SRF 1.2
here's the link! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961614&highlight=genocide
I freaked out when I first tried to go to the ACS Frozen 1.2 ROM. I read that it had no kernel, but thought since I had the stock .tar file already flashed I was good to go.. n00b Mistake..
I used the Genocide 2.0 kernel, which I flashed immediately after I flashed ACS Frozen 1.2 and it worked awesome..
are you just wanting to go with EC05 and the ACS frozen 1.2 ROM?
or wanting to go with gingerbread?
If you put a stock or deodexed version of GB on the phone through ODIN, you should be good to go.
What is your end goal?
To get EG22 (2.3.4) on your phone deodexed and rooted with CWM 3.1, go here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1184134
I couldn't get mine to work with Odin 1.85, so I used Odin 1.61 and it worked flawlessly.
I just did this last night, coming from the EC05 ACS frozen 1.2 + Genocide 2.0 combo; so if you need help, let me know
CWM 3.0+ will automatically convert to EXT-4.
FYI, if you end goal is to get GB on your phone, rooted, this will be ONE simple step. You will just ODIN once and when you boot up you will have the following:
EB22 modem
2.3.4
all other stock EB22 stuff
I'm planning a major upgrade of my phone later this month and want to have as much information spelled out in advance as possible.
I think I will first upgrade my CWM to 5. Am I correct in understanding that CWM5 is out of beta and stable? I vaguely remember reading that its keys do not work perfectly with Froyo kernels, so I haven't moved until I do everything at once.
I'm leaning toward SleeperROM. It seems updated often and actively. On the other hand, reports that there may be wifi issues give me pause.
Whatever Rom I go to, I'll go back to RFS, because while I'm on Ext4 now, avoiding force closes is more important to me than operating speed.
My question is: Can I upgrade entirely with CWM, or will I need Odin? Has a way been developed yet to get my modem to EI22 that does not need Odin, or is it still recommended that I first Odin to a full stock EI22 Gingerbread, re-root and install CWM and my new rom from there?
If you had to do the upgrade process now, what steps would you take?
There is no modem.bin for the EI22 modem so no Odin. You have to flash the modem delta from CWM with EC05 modem on your phone. Then just flash a GB ROM and enjoy. Backup with nandroid and Titanium Backup. Not all data is compatible so some things may have to be set up again. I had to redo my email accounts in stock email client.

Now I'm not NEARLY as experienced as Kenny, but what I did seemed to have worked out alright. I didn't use Odin (have a Mac) and used CWM (purple at the time) for it all.
I came from Froyo and did a CWM update to GB. That put me on EI22 with EC05 modem.
Updated to CWM 5. I did this as I was researching and getting ready to goto a custom ROM.
I then CWM'd to Legendary ROM (so choose your ROM here, I guess).
Then through a lot of trial and error with all the different modems, used the CWM flash able ECO5 to EI22 modem updater. This put me on Legendary Rom with EI22 modem. EI22 actually works fantastically for me.
I haven't had any problems since (minus bugs and whatnots from the Samurai Kernel and Legendary updates).
It sounds like you are pretty savvy. I don't think you will have any problems getting what you need done without Odin.

Check out QBKings How to video to Install EI22 Modem.. Then search his videos of numerous custom Roms for the one you like..

It's also all personal preference. I Odined back to dg27 and got the ota package, Odined ACS Recovery, then flashed nubernel and then stock deodex EI22. Took an hour or so to reinstall apps and restore what data I wanted to keep. I like a super clean install, if it even matters much.
