BEFORE YOU POST ANY QUESTIONS:
ROM:
It is a full ROM from Samsung, it is a beta build so don't expect too much!
Only flashable through Odin/Heimdal
Pit File is 512 but it seems like 803 also works
nitr8 released a rooted and flashable JV1 also thanks to TrOjAnUK
Only recovery 2e available, no CWM.
This ROM will not work with any of the custom kernels available right now! Kernel sources will be published around the official (KIES) release of the first Gingerbread ROM by Samsung. No kernel developer can build a kernel for any Gingerbread ROM until then. thx MrBusiness
Functionality and issues:
bhola made and promoted (excessively) 2 videos (Tutorial & Quick look)
All bands seem to be enabled, thx Nausicaa647
Swype fix by nitr8 thx Rawat for implementing
There appear to be incompatibilities with apps, some apks (especially games) won't work properly
TouchWiz 3 is installed (GameHub not included since it's part of TW4 as stated by skiddhard)
Market does work
Recovery Mode is working, just release the buttons as soon as the Samsung Logo appears thx galaxoid
GPS works thx iammodo
The Kernel just supports ext4, out of the box it's still rfs.
While browsing you may encounter "Kernel Panic"
Customization, root, modding:
Chainfire already rooted it
Daneshm90 enabled the lock animation use ADB to replace the framework.apk
[Ramad] Deodexed and Zipaligned apks of JV1
Stock Gingerbread Launcher thx Daneshm90
Rawat also made alternative Icons
(thx theduckking)

Well, before we can add some custom kernel we have to root this FW

Hi All
Does HTC put Friendstream inside HTC Hero 2.1 rom?
French langage is present inside multi-language? For example in home menu, "Téléphone" instead of "Phone"
Many Thanks
Gibou
ok.... so which one do I use? yours Paul, or roufianos (which certainly sounds interesting), or 42's eclair-update-signed?
and this is likely a really naive question LoL, but I'm guessing these won't overclock?
And if they won't overclock, will it be possible for you amazing people to supply a kernel that CAN overclock any time soon using the actual hero 2.1 official kernel source? or is that going to be unavailable source code for the forseeable future (based on past experience with google/htc)?
One of my current issues with VR6.2.1 is that the camera only works at iso100, making it almost useless for taking pics of kids/dogs/anyone who isn't posing still. I'm hoping that this official rom fixes that. But I'm thinking that maybe using an alternative kernel that can overclock which isn't actually based on the official hero kernel source code but is in fact taken from the Eris (like VR6) might break the camera iso functionality again.
So much boring long crap I'm writing eh? LoL
oh, and most importantly, thanks for being super amazing!
cheers,
Dkelley
No voice search or voice input. Is it possible to add or get this?
Otherwise it's a very good rom, very fast!

Use whichever ROM you want.
SetCPU seems to be overclocking ok, HTC have to release kernel source code as they have modified other open source stuff.

you should be able to use any 2.6.29 kernel (from other 2.1 roms) or build your own using the leaked kernel sources http://github.com/behnaam/HeRo-2.6.29-GoDmOdE .

This ROM is more-or-less a proof-of-concept ROM, that might be useful for people not living in the US/UK. It's a complete ROM, so instead of updating via update.zip, you update it via Odin. Therefore you don't even need to install JPM/JP6 first if you don't have it. (in Odin you should enable re-partition)
Features:
- JPM based pre-rooted kernel loosely based on Chainfire's initramfs. It does the actual rooting an alternative way (you can update busybox and switch kernels without losing root), which might be more compatible with present and future kernels (at least I hope so)
- JP6 based system, with most of the samsung apps removed (but you can get them back, read on), and the circular battery indicator (version D) added
By default this ROM only contains hungarian CSC's besides the defaults, but because the kernel is pre-rooted, you might actually use another CSC file too when flashing. If flashed with odin only older CSC files will work, never ones won't! However, if you use root explorer or similar to install your custom CSC after the flashing, both older and newer CSC's should work without problems.
If you don't like some of the changes you can still use parts of this ROM (like the zImage), or reset the changes after flashing.
Afterburner
Because this ROM has more apps torn out than the old one, I made the reinstalling of the removed apps easier. Instead of the "change_csc.bat" you now have an "afterburner.bat" (needs .NET 2.0 to work), that shows you a list of all the applications you can install. After selecting the apps you want to isntall simply click "Install applications", turon on USb debugging, press OK, and wait for the root prompt to show (don't let the phone go to sleep or you'll miss the root prompt). After the prompt the apps will be installed. You can also use this app to change your CSC (instead of the old change_csc.bat)
Rationale
Why is the kernel JPM and the system JP6?
The anwer is that JPM's kernel seems to be the official one, and because we have sorucecode for it, a lot of modifications will be done for that particular ROM (I'm 99% sure theyáll work on JP6 and JPK kernels too, but there's still that 1%). That's why the kernel is from JPM. The system is from JP6 however, because if you've read the topic about the differences between JPM and JP6 you could've seen that JPM is mostly only usable for English users. JP6 howerer has better language support (more things are translated, the default keyboard supports more accented characters, etc.). This is why the system is actually the JM6 version. (I modified the build data to show JPM however, not sure if it was a good idea compatibility-wise or not)
Can I use JPM or JP6 based custom ROMs?
Use JP6 based custom ROMs, but some of the JPM based custom ROMs (that have the applications deodexed) should work too.
What about the Éclair keyboard?
The Éclair keyboard is still included, you can isntall it with afterburner.

Good effort!
Can we flash it with a 2.1 csc of our choice (XX in my case)???
Also the ''adb'' file and ''change_csc.bat'' what do they stand for?
Would I be able to use the BMC CSC from JH2 with this ROM? This would allow this ROM to work well with Bell I9000M...
I'll test this later but if anybody beats me to it please post back.

adb is the main multi tool of the android sdk, it is used by the change_csc.bat
change_csc.bat will change your CSC to another installed CSC (this will enable you to change from KOR to something else)
In theory yes, but I didn't test it. I changed the csc.tar file manually to add the desired two sales code of my country.
However CSC-s can be added later to the ROM too manually. There's a topic on how to do this.
Could you post the link of this topic please?
Also I don't get it quite well this:

I'm pleased to present my MoDaCo Custom ROM for the HTC Vision (this is the version based on the T-Mobile G2 ROM, without HTC Sense)! READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU START! No, really, it contains everything you need to know.
Remember that if you use this ROM, you do so entirely at your own risk!!
About MoDaCo Custom ROMs
MoDaCo Custom ROMs are based on official ROMs - either shipping or leaked. A MCR release is designed to feel as far as possible like a stock ROM, with optimisations, tweaks and complimentary additions that enhance the user experience. The aim of a MCR is to be ultra reliable for use on an everyday device.
Requirements
In order to use this ROM on your device, you must have a custom recovery image installed (Clockwork Mod).
THIS ROM SHOULD RUN ON BOTH THE G2 AND THE DESIRE Z!
Features (these are the features for the currently posted prebake, please check the changelog for any pending changes that are in the kitchen)
Based on the 1.22.531.8 T-Mobile G2 ROM
Pre-rooted with su and Superuser Permissions by ChainsDD
Insecure boot image (ro.secure=0)
Optimised with the MCR build process, which means that the ROM will fit on a G2 without needing to remove any content!
All components updated to the latest versions
ROM is de-odexed
Please note that this is a r1 release, many more changes will be added now via the kitchen and periodically updated prebakes (as per normal MCR builds!)
Changelog
Please see 2 posts below this one for the changes in each release.
Installation
To install this ROM:
Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and copy to your SD card
Restart your device in recovery mode
PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP FROM THE MENU
Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card
Upgrading
No wipe is explicitly required in order to use this ROM, however if you do encounter issues of any kind, it is recommended that you wipe your device and reproduce the issue before raising it here.
Downloads
This ROM is now available in the online kitchen! In addition to the kitchen, a prebaked download is available.

Thanks
It's impossible to mention everyone who contributes to the Android community by name, but to everyone out there who does great work and shares it with us all - you have my gratitude and respect.
Future Updates - READ THIS!
By providing this ROM I am not implying in any way that future updates will follow. Due to limits on my time and the fact that I have a large number of devices for short periods of time, it isn't possible for me to continue providing ROM updates indefinitely. Please do not donate / sign up on the assumption that future releases will be available (I don't want you to be disappointed!).
And finally...
Details on how to donate should you wish to do so are in download topic at MoDaCo.
Enjoy!

Same phone but different partitioning, I believe ? I'm sure someone who knows a lot more than me will be able to comment better though.
Stock G2 does fit on Z, but the other way round doesn't.

I'm sorry, but I am just surprised no one has mentioned or requested screenshots.
Can we get at least one? I mean some of us may not know what a Non-Sense UI looks like.
Also, will this ROM help extend battery life? I am assuming it will with less eye-candy correct?
Thank you.

seeARM's ROM also comes with Steam Kernel. I think this is the first one to have that.

Thanks for this, appreciate the assistance! I'll add these as soon as possible.
Yes, for now I am only doing 2.2 and 2.2.1, but over Christmass I may very well add more.
I too am a Obsessive Compulsive ROM Flasher like you. See my signature.
Great idea!

Being an obsessive ROM flasher I spend tireless amounts of energy trawling through the forums trying to find the best developers' thread that meets my needs. Although I have since found the joy of subscribing to threads, I believe that newbies and others alike will still have this problem.
Today I bring you a solution.
Within this thread I shall keep an up to date list of ROMs (plus versions), their developers and current firmwares available. I may also look into giving a brief highlight of each ROM's key benefits at a later date. I will not be including ROMs that are no longer being supported or that haven't been update for more than 3 or 4 weeks.
If you are able to find yourself a ROM that meets your needs, please consider thanking your developer and maybe offer them a small donation for all their hard work. Please remember that they spend a lot of time and effort in making your phone the beautiful device it is today and do this on top of their day jobs, school etc.
ROMs are currently listed based on Froyo 2.2 and 2.2.1 only. I may add older versions over Christmas.
//Developers, if I have missed you out or you have a new ROM that you'd like to have added to this thread just PM me and I'll add it here for you.
_________________________________________________________________
Please note: these ROMs are in alphabetical order of the ROM names. I will not include flashing instructions as these will vary from ROM to ROM.
Please ensure that your phone is rooted before attempting to flash anything.

Sorry guys, been a bit busy recently, what with the festive period and all that. I'll do my best to update it at least once every couple of days or so to keep up with all the great new ROMs.

You can actually add a second section with ROMs from other forums if you wish. Just gives people a variety.
A happy new year & success for all your works.

I think for now I'll stick to the Galaxy S I9000 forum simply because I probably couldn't cope with any more ROMs
Thanks for your contributions and a happy New Year to you too.

Yes, I think this is a STICKY material too.
Maybe he can change the Title to Latest Modded ROMs Thread or something to reflect the content. Change the First Post to reflect the same changes.
*** Please note, due to availability of new firmware XWJW5, development of this Boeffla-Mod version is stopped.
Please refer to the XWJW5 Boeffla-Mod Version 4.0 thread ***
Hi all,
as I switched to XXJW4 firmware as well now, I started creating the well-known Boeffla-Mod theme also for this fw.
You can choose between the known "greenish" stock theme and a blue themed mod (my personal favourite).
Version history:
Version 3.0
Stock and blue theme available
Battery icon with percentage numbers (green or blue circle)
Animated charging battery icons
Connection icons turn to green/blue when fully connected
Statusbar icons changes for blue theme
Extended power menu
Quickpanel icons (ICS style)
Transparency effects in pull down
Change overscroll glow to white for stock theme (blue for blue theme)
CRT off animation
ICS window animations
Autodetection of odex/deodex version to apply
All apks Zipaligned
Just flash (in CWM Recovery) one of the attached versions, you do not have to care about odex or deodex - this will be handled by the installer automatically:
Downloads:
Stock Theme 3.0
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19719719/XXJW4_Boeffla-Mod/XXJW4-Boeffla-Mod-V3.0-Stock.zip
Blue Theme 3.0
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19719719/XXJW4_Boeffla-Mod/XXJW4-Boeffla-Mod-V3.0-Blue.zip
Rollback
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19719719/XXJW4_Boeffla-Mod/XXJW4-Boeffla-Mod-V3.0-Rollback.zip
Screenshots can be found in the thread for the XWJW1 version of Boeffla-Mod.
If you want to undo, just flash the rollback file in CWM and you are back to XXJW4 stock.
As always: Flash on our own risk! Make sure you have some space on /system left before you flash. I can and will not take any responsibility for bricked phones.
And on a very special request, I want you to know I used partially apktool (1.4.3) to do my mod. Also I used smali/baksmali 1.3.2. These tools have bugs as any other software of course, so it might come to unexpected side effects.
On top of that:
I understand, many people would like to have slight deviations of this mod, different battery icons, different overscroll glow colours etc. However, I honestly do not have enough time to fulfill all your special requests.
I build this mod only for my personal use basically, so it is like it is.
Thank you very much for your understanding.
If you want to still have different Battery Icons etc, I recommend you to use the UOT kitchen (http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen) with which you can do a lot of additional tweaking yourself.
Just extract the framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk files out of the Boeffla-Mod zip and load it into kitchen. As soon as the new files are built by kitchen, flash the zip file after Boeffla-Mod and you are there.
Have fun.

Hi Andi,
Many thanks again for this great work.
Since this morning, i confirm that I had no problem!
Hi all,
thanks for the encouraging news. Especially as the jw4 firmware seems to be a bit more sensitive in general (especially the kernel where Stratosk had hard fights last night, but successful).
I will take a break for rest of today (ok, I have to admit I need to watch the champions league game FC Bayern Munich vs. Real Madrid + keep an eye on my local hockey team), but will continue working on the first 4 points in the todo list by tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing your reports, helpful as always!

Ok, everything seems to work quite nicely! (sorry to make my feedback so late, I've been very busy today ^^)
I noticed something not correct yet: on the "stock" (green) version, on the lockscreen, the notification saying the battery should be charged is blue and with the old battery style...
Thanks Rebel2k. I will look into it and fix tomorrow for a new release.
EDIT: Rebel2k, I PM'ed you for more information.
If anyone else can replicate this, please send me a screenshot. Thanks.

Hi all,
just to let you know, I will take a quick break on developing this JW4 version further.
Reason is quite easy: There is a leak of a new, apparently unbranded XWJW5 version available at Samfirmware.
Some users already installed it and reported some good news (translation issues on lock screen fixed, more fluid tw4 browser). I would like to install it myself and have a look whether it is feeling better and really has the translation issues fixed.
If so, I would rather tend to continue on XWJW5 instead.
Will keep you posted...
Thanks
Andi

Hi Andi,
i read in other places (but i don't know if true or false) that the JW4 and JW5 are very similar: it is possible that your next mod working both in JW4 and JW5?
I am just curious
However, if the JW5 was really better, i will flash it too, also because the semaphore kernel 2.7.4 is already working on JW5.
Hi DeusEx,
this is exactly what I want to find out - whether it makes sense to go on JW5 or not.
It seems quite similar, but obviously not exactly. Someone reported he tried to flash Boeffla-Mod XW4 version on XW5 and ended up in boot loop. So there are some differences.
Will let you know...
Thanks

I tried JW5 /modem JW4 and boot loop every time
Hi Ziomek76,
what exactly did you try? Would like to understand step by step.
As I said: JW4 Boeffla-Mod cannot be used on JW5.
Or did you mean something else?
Thanks

Again thanks for the hard work Andi, also glad to read you enjoyed your holiday in Florida.
I'm tempted with the XWJW5 since XW builds allow me to use my local CSC. However which variant did you guys download, SamMobile announced three of them:
I9000XWJW5_I9000OXXJVC_IRD
I9000XWJW5_I9000OXXJVC_ORS
I9000XWJW5_I9000OXXJVC_XEZ
While I guess they only differ from CSC I wanted to verify.

Hi Soyuz3,
thanks for all the nice feedback. Yes, it was GREAT in Florida. Just too short, guess have to go again next year
Well, I downloaded I9000XWJW5_I9000OXXJVC_ORS and repackaged it, so it is now a 3-part FW again that can be cleanly flashed via Odin.
Just testing it now...
Thanks
Andi
