[ROM] Nebulae v1.1 (WWE Éclair 2.1) :: 04/10/2010

Description:
This ROM is just another ROM like most others out there... Yes, I'm late in the game and it does not have much more than most ROMs but that was not the intention either. It's also not this ROM's intention to compete with any other ROMs. This is just something I did for myself (that's why you can find some unusual features) which I decided to share cause some people might like my simple and basic changes.
My work is based in two other ROMs, MoDaCo from Paul O'Brien and VillainROM from TeamVillain. I respect their work and thank them for their hard work. Some things were literally copied from their ROMs to mine, but I give credit where credit is due; if you find something that you think it was copied, that's because it probably was, but I'm not doing this to take credit for their work.

How to install:
Wipe everything:
Data
Dalvik-cache
Battery Stats
Rotate Settings
Flash ROM via recovery mode.
Flash Radio via recovery mode (the phone will reboot twice, do not interrupt the process at any moment).
Reboot the system once after the initial boot.
I suggest to always reinstall the radio after flashing any ROM, I've had GPS problems in the past for not doing so. Either flash the one below or the one that suits you/your network better.

Description:
There were a couple of things I wanted to include in my ROM above but couldn't because of software limitations (more specifically, signatures). This patch allows that and you also have the choice to flash it or not.
This patch can probably be used on another ROMs (for the HTC Hero of course) if you like but I will not provide any support there. Just make sure the ROM is deodex or it will probably lead to unexpected results.

Done... Although I don't expect to update this ROM much as I took my time to cook exactly as I wanted and testing it thoroughly. But mistakes happen all the time and you never know what more stupid bugs HTC left for us to fix.

Great post and nice patch,cleans almost everything we really dont need or have in other places.
Too bad for me it doesnt have footprints as i use it a lot,but you cant satisfy everyone and as you said it was build for your needs.

You can easily push it back (along with the widget) to the phone if you want. Of course, only if you really find this ROM more useful than the one you're currently using, otherwise don't bother

PH? Where did that one come from? I'm not sure that's newer though because PH comes before of PU and radios are normally versioned like that...
I'm not sure, I'm using 63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.11 as that one came from the official update and haven't tested any others. The only way to tell is to keep using both for a long period of time and take some conclusions...

So, there's "2 new radios" right now and I have them both posted on the front page. The "PH" you're using is basically the one I posted for "orange users", which ends in 14.
Seriously, I don't know which one is better, i'm just using the first one and haven't really tested the other... If you do test both and find out the .14 is better than the .11, let me know

I have seen this .11 radio in Denmark. (use .14 myself, no probs)

Before OCLF, I actually already started downloading your SuperSlim JP6 Doc's Rom, but after.. wow.
Although Quadrant gives 1700, the feel is fantastic, just lightning fast. Keep up the good work and I'll keep using my SGS as a lab rat

Using this rom (V2), seems very nice. Quadrant is about 1100 with 30 apps installed, Autokiller says 82mb of ram free.
After using for a few hours now still seems very responsive. I will report more tomorrow.

The main point of this kernal is the awesome lagfix options...are they all working on this ROM doc? What about the "binding issue" that I've read about?

Can we have a list about whatt have been removed?
Is it compatible with afterburn (from multinational v3) to add some component back?

I am liking this rom. Its like I am using vanilla android and not some bloated crappy UI overlay. Had this issue where after installing, did a factory reset made it so after booting up I could not get the main screen to appear - it was always black.
Notification drawer worked and displayed just fine, but the main screen wouldnt load or show anything.
Getting around 1000 quadrant without any sort of lag fix.
Applied oclf and am getting 1818.
Real usage seems extremely responsive however.
Camera looks to be broken though.

Was looking yesterday night at the drain the samsung email app was causing and wondering how to swtich to stock mail and this comes along. Very nice work - i installed it and it got deployed just fine, now turning on lagfix. Will restore everything and let you know how it goes!. Thank you for your work - big fan of it.
PS: lol you sure do hate facebook sync dont you?

Can confirm everything went smooth including the conversion to ext4 (I tried the Advanced option without bind). Initial impression is that its smooth - but have been on it for too little time to find the quirks apart from confirming that camera is in fact FC-ing. Restoring from backup also does not help.
As for lagfix, maybe i will change my opinion on extended use, but for now I dont see a perceptible difference in making them all ext4 in comparison with voodoo. So if the more stable option is voodoo, the payoff seems too little to try the riskier all-ext4 version.
PS: I know its stripped, but no music player by default?!! Come on doc
PPS: only thing i can see missing now is BLN patch, but i guess thats for stuzpy to merge.

[MOD] Arabic shaping for any deodexed rom

Note to all users: If you have a problem with this patch, this is the place to post and ask. I will not answer Private Messages related to this patch because the questions are replicated and should all be addressed here.
To devs and ROM cooks. PLEASE do reference this thread and my work if you intend on providing the result CWM file in your thread.
To get the correct arabic shaping letters in Android. We need to patch two files, namely framework.jar and libwebcore.so
framework.jar takes care of rendering text in all android menus and input widgets. libwebcore.so takes care of shaping text correctly for the web browser and Gmail.
I've made this patch a while ago but thought I'd post my work here for those of you who aren't aware of it.

Requirements:
Your device needs to be rooted.
Your Android version is >= 2.1
Your ROM needs to be deodexed. To find out if your installed ROM is deodexed, navigate to /system/framework on your phone. If you see a file called framework.odex then this patch will NOT work for you. So yes, this means that any of these new ROMs or Themes can get arabic text rendered correctly I'm currently using Darky's 9.3 with R64 Blue theme and everything works beautifully.
Java must be installed.
Steps to apply the patch:

I believe it should correct the alignment and RTL though. must give it a try for yourself
If you look at my references though, the original patcher was for Hebrew. So I believe using the original patch would fit your case better

For it to work on JV1, I'll need Samsung to release the source code first. So until then, I think we'll have to wait. (although if someone has sometime, it'll probably be worth it to change the AOSP files of 2.3.3_r1 to support my patch from github and then redo the patcher with these new files).
For CM7, well.. lets say that it already has some kind of shaping supported although not the best out there. I'll try to make a patcher just for that version given that we're blessed with the source code.

great work, sure many people looking for this patch, Samsung is always late for latest releases of galaxy in middle east and many people also like the taste of custom roms,this patch will help a lot

I don't think it will
its supposed to correct right-to-left languages' alignment + shape Urdu + Farsi + Arabic texts.

for those of you who are interested in getting CM7 arabized correctly (it currently doesn't shape words correctly, adds spaces, duplicates some other..) I've ported my files to CM7 and here is a CWM file that you can flash to get arabic working correctly everywhere including browser + gmail.
Get it at OP.
I've patched the latest version (20110309b) so be careful not to apply this to any other version even though it might work. I just don't want to hold responsibility if its applied to some other versions.

That's not going to be an easy job because I use ICU4J's libraries to reshape and they seem to have that bug in them. My source code is up on github, if any of you can find the problem, just let me know and I'll patch it up

8) Reboot

Guys with a Bell i9000m just need to install another modem (in most ROMs it's located in /updates/modem.bin ).

well have some loads but none a dem gave feedback so far? hope not they killed themselves while installin`this rom

[ROM] AT&T Stock Properly De-Odexed LG1 OTA System...

This is mostly for new devs that want a stock build to work with, or just want to use the latest files & firmware version with their unlocked & rooted device.
All of the stock files are in this rom. The only changes made are busybox, SuperSU (Faster responses than traditional SU in my humble opinion), & I tore a lot of the apks down to java & applied diffpatches from the OTA update to all applicable apk & jar files, De-Odexed 100% & zip aligned. This currently includes the stock rooted kernel & will also work with the kernel by NunHugger (which supports init.d & custom boot images). You can easily change kernels with WinRAR or WinZip by making certain that "no compression" is selected & then drag & drop new boot.img to the root of the zip.
Also in the rom are the newer camera binaries & the other fixes from the AT&T LG1 OTA.
I did change the GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk so that on-device searches are still possible.
Rom include latest SuperSU & a working busybox 1.20.2 build.
Other than that, this is a fully bloated & stock AT&T rom & contains the stock rooted kernel. If you would like init.d support or anything else added, just let me know. I don't believe in init.d, & personally believe in editing xml's or boot init files to accomplish init tasks, but I'll add if desired. I am working on modding the LG1 kernel to have UV/OC function, but other than that, not much else.

I am working on applying the diff patch to the kernel source, so that the kernel will match the LG1 system. However, I am having trouble with occasional bootloops when battery is under 30%. Could be the source, but most likely it is the fact that I haven't played with 100% stock source much, let alone Samsung source.
At any rate, do what you will with this. It is there to do with as you like, or not...

*I will add a second link with updated apk's so that no google play updating is needed.
UPDATE: New version with most of the frequently updated apps located in Data/App to avoid duplicates & allow users to uninstall.

Any kernel in the AT&T section I have tried so far has worked fine.
And if anyone wants, I can remove the debugging crap from all of the jars & apks to trim the files down further.

So the modem didnt change? Mine is still the same just curious
Edit: my bad forgot its just ota and just patches on the side note why no just make flashable zip of the removed apk if ever you debloat the rom

It is really meant to be a base for other's that wish to begin learning to cook. That way there is a base rom that is 100% stock for them to add to or deduct from as they choose. However, if you wish, I can do a de-bloated version. I have a new version as well, that still has bloat, but most of the frequently updated apps are in data/app & named so they are properly handled by updates.

Is there any consensus as to what is "Debloated" besides removing the AT&T crude? I usually remove gmail, I don't need two email clients, Flipboard, is gone, awww heck, I'll just do whatever & if ya'all want something back I'm sure I'll hear it.

Well if you do a de-bloated version, anybody that wants the app's you've pulled can pull them from your first one and install what they want. Also thank you
