I want to preface this by apologizing if this has been covered, but I was unable to find anything with a search.
Every single 3.70 based ROM results in wakelock issues within 24-48 hours. I have tried everything, including flashing the stock rooted rom and no matter what, my phone stops sleeping after a day or so. I fully wipe, flash the rom, and I don't download a single app until the wakelock kicks in, at which point I grab spare parts and get no useful information.
I am currently alternating between CM7 and CM6 because AOSP roms work fine...they just aren't quite as solid as I would like them to be at this point. GPS bugs (I've tried the fixes), no HDMI (I've heard about the beta apps and I'll try those soon), no 4G (I realize this has been added to the nightlies for CM7, but the GPS issues are a deal breaker for now) and slow file transfers between my PC and my phone when using CM7 also kill the rom for me.
I figured I would simply flash the stock rooted 3.30.651.3 so that I could have a fully functional phone without wakelock issues if the need arose. But whenever I try to flash after a full wipe (including dalvik cache), I get stuck on the white HTC EVO screen. All 3.70 roms and AOSP roms flash fine so there must be something I'm missing...do I have to downgrade my radio or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated. And once again, I'm sorry for the post if this has been covered.
Yes the radio has to be downgraded first. I'm not sure which radio you need but you should check out one of Viruses rom threads since his roms are mostly 3.30 based.

I've been rooted for about a month now, playing with various roms and loving it.
However, today, I decided to try FrEak's newest rom using netarchy/toasts latest kernel. Things were going pretty well for a while, then all of a sudden, everything either quit responding or is taking at least a minute to respond, i.e. notification bar, menus opening/closing, touchscreen, etc.
So I did a complete wipe, cache, etc. and flashed the latest BakedSnack rom, again, with netarchy kernel, and same issue.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm wondering if going back and re-rooting would help....but if I do, should I use SimpleRoot or the newest unrevoked?
This is killing me!!!!
Last good responding rom I had was Fresh 3.1.0.1, but haven't tried reflashing that to see if it's the roms I'm using or something wrong with my phone.
Thanks in advance.
try a different kernel.
Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster....unfortunately....
So after sitting on MIUI for a good while, and having a blast with it, I decided to try out some other ROMs. I was interested in seeing Cyanogen 6, and so I went about attempting to get the latest stable, non RC ROM onto my EVO. I read into it seeing that I needed to downgrade my hboot, and found the image without a problem (running the .76 right now, had the 9something one before...)
Well, I downgraded my hboot without an issue, flashed the Cyanogen, and got into a splashloop. I figured out it was becaue I hadn't wiped my cache or data before flashing the rom, so I went into the Clockwork Recovery and wiped those, flashed once more, and it booted into Cyanogen perfectly!
Well, almost. I don't have 3G now.
For some reason, I am unable to connect to 3G no matter what I try. My nandroid's broke due to the hboot downgrading, rewiping the cache/data and reflashing cyanogen did nothing, and now for some reason, when I attempt to go back to MIUI, it still will not allow me to connect to 3G. I can send and receive texts, and make and receive calls, but alas, no data connection.
Should I get a fresh RUU and stock hboot, upgrade and restart from scratch? I just want to get back to MIUI at this point with a working, data enabled phone.....
If that's the case, that I do need to start over, where can I find a new hboot for the EVO that isn't .76? I'm pretty saavy when it comes to this stuff, but for some reason right now I just can't figure it out....
HTC EVO running MIUI v0.11 stable
.76 hboot w/ Clockwork recovery
Broken nand backup
whatdo?
Thanks in advance for the help
Sorry for the double post, but I resolved my issue.
I am unsure of what exactly went wrong, but I figured it was somewhere between downgrading my hboot, and flashing the CM 6 stable ROM that my 3G data got scrambled....
So! Using ROM Manager, I made a backup of my working (non 3G) MIUI image, and flashed the Odyxed version of the RUU found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836728). After flashing in Recovery, it booted into SenseUI, and worked like a charm!
My 3G hath returned, and issues have been solved. It's nice when you're able to fix things on your own, though I couldn't have done it without the help of that handy dandy search button, and the RUU keyword
Oh, yeah, and I guess xxbabiboi228xx as well.....maybe....^_~
This is my first thread here at xda
I don't know if this issue is already known or if it's just me with this problem. I have an HTC Evo and I've tried both Evervolv Roms for Android 2.3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878020 and 2.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840285. Both Roms have problems with connecting with WiFi automatically, even when connecting manually, and require me to constantly turn the WiFi on and off to connect. Sometimes a reboot is needed on the 2.3 version because the WiFi gets stuck on "turning off". I'm wondering if there's a fix for this or if the developer of Evervolv will fix this in the future. I'm not able to comment on the developer's thread so this is my only way to get the problem out there. Also in the 2.3 version, the application launcher crashes often and requires a reboot each time to get anything to work. Flash Player doesn't seem to work at all (in fact only way i was able to install it was through Titanium-backup, as trying to install it from the market doesn't work) . I've also noticed random reboots on both versions 2.2 and 2.3. I really like the 2.3 Rom but the constant crashes of the app launcher forced me to switch to the 2.2 version and the WiFi problems persist on that as well. (if anyone asks why don't i just try another launcher, it's cause i like stock Android launchers the best )
Welcome!! The 2.3 rom is still beta so issues will be there. Are you using stock kernel? I've used cm roms and know you must change your wifi policy to never sleep. Not 100% sure if that's where your problem lies but its worth checking. Also the aosp roms IMO are still kinda iffy. Most seem very promising and some run very well but all still need alot of work. If it is becoming to big of an issue I'd nandroid backup, completely wipe and format and try a sense based rom, im trying Koni's ELITE and so far, im very impressed. Just a Thought.
Hey everyone. I haven't been working with custom ROMs for long, so I'm a little lost with what I might be missing here.
Phone:
Sprint HTC EVO 4G
Cyanogenmod 7.0.3.1
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: 2.15.00.11.19
Kernel Version: 2.6.37.4-cyanogenmod-01338-g0374804
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-7.0.3.1-Supersonic
Build Number: GRI40
Problem:
I recently updated from CyanogenMod 6 to CyanogenMod 7. Since then all heck has been breaking lose on my normally happy Evo. I was extremely pleased with CyanogenMod 6 due to better battery life, faster operation, better features than stock, etc. However, since the update to 7, I've been experiencing the following problems... but I do have to say 7 it's beautiful!
Battery life now sucks... BAD!
* Went from 1 charge a day (or less) to multiple per day and there's less software on it than before.
* Battery history indicates the radio is consuming 48% of battery.
Data has been terrible and now no longer works at all.
* I no longer have even 3G, but only shows white "1x" on status bar.
* Wi-Fi is now the only means I have to consume data.
4G/WiMAX commonly doesn't stay connected either or allow data.
GPS is out to lunch. It skips all over the place and loses signal every few seconds.
Questions:
Do I need to update the radio?
If so, where do I find either the latest or appropriate version for use with CyanogenMod 7?
Are there updates to 7.0.3.1 that will fix battery life & other issues?
Some forums were saying to run PRI, but I haven't had that since my phone was stock. How do I obtain that?
Given my phone's info above, would you recommend I install or update anything else?
Thanks in advance for all the help!

Update all radios. Check my sig for a link.
Flash a rooted Sense ROM, based on the Evo (this disqualifies MikG, Director's Cut, Synergy and other Sense 2.1 ROMs, because those are based on the Evo Shift (I've had issues with Shift-based ROMs not reprovisioning data). Update PRL. Reboot.
Go into EPST (Dial ##3282#, Choose edit mode), enter your MSL code (download and use MSL Reader from the Market to get it), Data Profile, hit the menu button and choose restore. Just sit there, your phone will reboot and everything will go back to default. Let it reprovision, but when it says "Updating PRL" hit cancel.
Wipe everything in recovery, flash ROM of your choice.
Use 3G Supercharger if you want.
You can try those things above to see if they do any good.

Try Deck's as suggested above. He is a great ROM developer and often updates. I personally use SavagedZen kernel when on his ROM. For a flashable GPS fix, see my sig.

For battery try out a different kernel like tiamat 3.3.7 or 4.0.6, SZ 2.2.1 those seem to be the best ones you can try the sbc versions you'll get a little more life out of them you can find them on kernel manager from the market.
You can check this out for your radios.

You should find every GPS fix here.

@Shadow,
In order to answer you actual questions:
YES! Update your radios from Calkulins thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485
Grab the latest update, youll be happy. This will update PRI as well.
There is a RC1 of CM 7.1, which is pretty good. Based on 2.3.4 which is just improved GB. Though it is not considered a stable release yet, if that is what you are looking for.
Considering this gets your signal working proper you should notice imedeate results for battery life. I would recommend the Battery Calibration app from market, follow instructions.
The above GPS link is good, exactly what you should look into. I recommend the Qualcom 1.1 works great every time. However, after flashing new radios check your GPS again to see how it is working. Once that is solved, get GPS status from market and check out all the features it has. It can clear GPS cache, download "assistance data" and give you a precise time it takes to lock on to better diagnose GPS issues.
Lastly, you may want to consider doing a clean install, doing a FULL wipe using a wipe all .zip and clear user data, cache and dalvik. Not sure if you did this the first time, but it helps to avoid any errors from leftovers from your previous ROM.
Since you are going to update your radios, I would recommend updating it thru HBOOT just update with sprint lover's rom here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830153
Just load up the PC136IMG and let it update and then install the rom of your choice afterwards or nand restore a back up of your desired rom.
Personally either way you update should be fine, but HBOOT seems a bit safer.
Wow, you guys are amazing!
shawayne21, thanks I appreciate the recommendation. However, I'm not currently in the market for another ROM. I just want to get what appear to be mostly radio issues resolved. I have tried several other ROMs when I rooted my EVO and immediately fell in love with CyanogenMod. I will keep this in mind for possible future ROM explorations though. Thanks again!
TropicalBrit, thanks a lot for that repost. There is so much content on this site that it's difficult for a noobie like myself to pick out what the most appropriate information is for a particular situation. However, as time goes on and I get more experience I assume that will change.
I will perform the items TropicalBrit reposted and let everyone know how it goes! Thank you immensely to everyone who took the time to help me out! Cheers!
Sounds like you might need to perform a complete and thorough system wipe, preferably using one of the formatting zips.
Then reflash your rom, flash a better kernel, and download your apps fresh from the market.
I've had great success with Tiamat 3.3.7 sbc and Savaged Zen 2.2.1 bfs sbc, running the same baseband as you on hardware 003.
Yesterday my gps wasnt working at all. It would not lock on no matter what I did. I was on a custom rom and I tried wiping my data/cache, reinstalling maps (just for giggles), and a multitude apps from the market that help deal with gps problems (gps fix, gps status, toolbox, etc).
When all this didn't work I decided to odin back to the last official JB update and still no gps. On a whim I decided to odin back to an ICS firmware and that made my gps work. I have no idea but it did. I then odin to UVDLJC, installed TWRP's most recent and restored my backup of the custom rom I was using in the first place and gps now worked.
While I'm happy as heck that my gps is now working and that it was not a hardware issue I'm extremely curious what happened.
I have flashed many roms lately and I cannot think what a custom rom can do to gps to hose it or if it was just one of those things. I would of thought that when I originally did an odin to UVDLJC that would fix the issue but that didn't. Whatever the flash to ICS did fixed it but what in the heck could that of been?
I figure if I can find out or get an idea what happened then I can steer away from flashing certain roms, or just be prepared that flashing any roms at all can make this happen again.
Same here.
Hello, ddcoh.
I am currently having the same issue you had with GPS not working. I've tried everything from trying tedious Play store apps to trying many different roms and kernels (clean installing every time) to completely reverting back to stock including using TriangleAway in case that did any help. Nothing worked. I have been thinking about going back to ICS to see if that worked but the last time I tried to downgrade from 4.1.1 to 4.0.4 I ended up soft bricking my phone even though I followed the steps word for word.
Can you tell how you went about downgrading to ICS and then back to JB, please? I use my GPS a lot and I would hate to find out it's a hardware issue.
Typically, it's been when people are going from 4.2 to 4.1.

Well I used odin to flash an T999_UVALEM which was a prerooted ICS rom. After booting it up I checked to see if GPS was working and it was.
I then used odin again to flash T999_UVDLJA which is a JB rom and booted it up also and saw that gps was working. Then I just restored a backup of a room I had been using and GPS still worked.
I've been out of town and noticed that after flashing a few roms that gps wasn't working so instead of doing all the above stuff I just flashed a cm10 rom. I believe I either used a cm10 nightly (or maybe 10.1, memory is hazy) or LiquidRom and that got the GPS working by just doing that. Not sure if that will work for you but you could always backup your setup using TWRP's latest and then flashing a cm10 rom and seeing if gps is working and if that fixes it then you could then just reboot and restore the rom you are currently on and that might fix your gps for you.
