Hey guys has anyone had any luck using the square card reader for the atrix yet? I have the version 1 and 2 and I can't get either to work. Can any other people confirm with me?
Cant get mine to work either. Sometimes it will say "swipe faster" but most of the time it gives no feedback at all.

Hello.
I have just got my first cell: the tmobile dash. I have done some research and am under the impression that it is acually the branded term for the Excalibur. Alright; so it started when I wanted to throw in a microsd card. I looked around for the biggest one I could find (8gig) but have heard a few rather conflicting blurbs about the high end microsd cards in this paticular cell. Simple question: will it support it? I have also heard that you have to have windows mobile 6 or some sort of generic not-branded ROM in order to use them. I do have windows mobile 6... so do I still need to do the steps outlined in the thread:

? If so its not a problem, but I dont want to go though all of that just to get back to square one with the thing. Another thing though: I custom build all my pc's and format all my laptops first thing so I dont have to put up with all the crap companies like to put on my stuff. So is this a similer thing? If it is that would be a reasen to go though with it in itself.
So my second question would be, are there any benifites to 'formatting' my cell with this unbranded ROM other then being able to upgrade the OS? Im certanly not computer illierarate, but as far as cells go I am completly lost. What programs will I need to reinstall, and which ones will be preinstalled?
And finally, will any of this conflict with the service I get from tmobile? Like I said I have no idea how cells work and the protocols and subscriptions, so I wouldnt know. Would it for example screw with the internet service I would like to subscribe to?
Oh, one more thing, WHERE IS NOTEPAD?? I was trying to jott somthing down on my phone today, but could not find any sort of notepad type application. I found Word, but I cant create documents with it (only edit I guess)...

Well, on WM5, my Excalibur supported 2gb micro sd cards. On WM6, it happily supports a 4gb micro sdhc card. I have read that it does support higher capacity than that also.
In terms of formatting, I think I could only format the SDHC card FAT32. The non HC card could be formatted FAT or FAT32.
The FAT format can make a difference to some apps working or otherwise, I have heard, but none that I have used have had a problem.

One other point, the only reason I went from WM5 to WM6 was to enable SDHC. I can have Route 66 (with 3 maps) and plenty of music on a 4gb card. I just found 2gb a bit limiting.
Just wish I could sort out the re-booting loop issue with the sdhc card installed!

I have a original HTC branded Excalibur, and it supports my 8GB micro SDHC card.
As long as you change the rom from the T-mobile branded to the Rogers or the HTC rom you will be just fine. I have a 6gb SDHC card on the latest HTC rom.
Im downloading the "NEW HTC ROM!! HTC_WWE_1.33.422.1_4.1.13.51_03.07.90_Ship.exe" right now. I guess this will make it faster and have better signal strength. Does this replace windows mobile? Can I still develop for the compact framework, and use other microsoft programs on it?
Also, do I still have to go though the unlock steps in the aforementiond thread?
So doing this will not affect my plan with tmobile at all and I can still do things like call people and send text messages?

Yes it should run faster, slightly more stable and will enable SDHC cards. It is Windows Mobile 6, the same thing you can install from T-mobile, only more updated with better features and no t-mobile branding (logos etc...)

Yes. If you have problems with the install I'd read the thread for solutions, every problem has a solution and they are all on that thread.

Yep. You'll need to reconfigure you're MMS, internet and text settings when complete. You can get these settings with a search on this board or google. A google search should link you to the t-mobile settings tool on their website for just such settings.
It will be a lot of time consuming work to get your rom changed, all the programs reinstalled, and the phone tweaked just the way you like it, but I guarantee you that ultimately you'll be extremely pleased you did.
OK. I ran the unlocker, then the bat file, and the screen went black. But now it cannot connect to the phone. the screen is still black and it is connected to the USB cabel, but I cant load active sync and the ROM updater is giving me an error 260 connection problem... Im searching the forums now franticly, but it would be nice if sombody can post a quick fix right here.

Ok. I removed the battery, restarted and tried again. Now its all setup and configured and still calls people
Now; are there any links to a place where there is a list of good programs to put on my phone? And will an 8gig microSD card work on it?

Did you simply restart your phone or did you actually get the rom successfully installed?
Lol, after I restarted I tried again. This time it came up with a white screen, and I manually ran some program in the root of the phone directory. Then I was able to install the ROM just fine.
I like the new colors, and it definitly is faster and less cluttered then before. There are some minor things like being able to scroll with the buttons on the side, and a few other nice things that make it feel alot easier to use then before. My question is why companies like tmobile dont make it easy to do this kind of stuff....
Another question is where did these roms come from? Did they come right from the manufacturer, or were they leaked?
8gb works fine for me. Curious on 16gb now..........

during the update, i took out my MicroSD memory stick as i was supposed to. but when i put it back in after the update, i couldnt open any of my pictures.
Every icon has a pictures of a file with a picture of a lock over it.
any reason for this?
any way to get them back?

Can you still view them on your computer using a card reader? Some memory cards have slide locks on them also but I don't know that microsd cards do.

let me explain it:I've got a Galaxy Gio,rooted,with a CM 7.2 based Rom.
Sometimes I can't receive any messages from my contacts though I can still send!
I've found a way to fix it putting the sim card from the galaxy to my old phone (nokia 2330),switching it on and waiting for the incoming messages (the same that don't come on the smartphone) and then putting the sim card back on Samsung. (I might consider it as a reset)
It's not a convenient and practical solution,so I would like to know if someone either's got my same problems and if there's a way to fix in a more comfortable way!

Hello. I've read many threads like this but didn't find a solution for my problem, so I start a new one, my first thread.
I've bought a Note II (N7100) international version months ago and suddenly I got the message "not registered on network", "no sim", can't access to mobile networks and so on. Further, it is impossible to access to settings>more settings>mobile networks> "INSERT SIM CARD TO ACCESS NETWORK SERVICES". For a better knowledge I found a video on youtube it explains the exact issue I'm suffering.
I got this error when I was on stock rom, so in order to fix it, I thought it was the modem, so I rooted it, installed the criskelo rom v.17 and v 18 and didn't worked. Then I installed the file "modem.tar.md5" and no results. When I try to flash that file trough odin I got a message "removed" and then the phone reboot before the "pass" message.
I have tried my sim card on a S3 and it works, have tried the s3 sim card on my note 2 and it works too. It is like my phone does not match my own sim. When I went to the carrier they tried another sim and it works on my device. I have bought a new sim card and it DOES NOT WORK. I think it's a software issue because the phone worked with other sim cards. It is quite frustrating 'cause I have this issue for about 5 months and no solution come to me. I'm consider the hammer test for my Note II if I don't fix it during this month. Can't sell it, rent, borrow or give away because the phone DOESN'T WORK AS A PHONE.
Please, some kind soul, HELP ME!!!
Sounds like a hardware issue with the SIM card reader in your phone, not making a good contact with the first SIM.
Can't you just get the first SIM replaced?
Indeed, I thought it was the sim reader so I changed it, didnt worked. As I said the phone read some sim cards so I think its not a hardware issue. Please check the vídeo I left. Thank you for your response.

I have the US version. Is that the same as the global version? I setup Google Pay and I tried to pay at Jersey Mike's (3 attempts) and each time the terminal gave an error "Please select only one payment card." My previous Pixel 4 XL worked perfectly at the same terminal. I'll have to test at another retail store to see if it works.

Thank you! I thought my nfc is broken and I have to RMA right away. I got the same thing now. Managed to scan nfc cards with an nfc scanner. I tried it at ALDI (german supermarket) literally nothing happened. But at another store it said the same as yours but more like "Only one card at once please". Like it detects mor than one nfc tag. Well I'm just glad its not hardware problems.
Still experiencing problems with higher distance. I was able to have my Galaxy S9+ about 10 cm away from the terminal and it worked. The Cards have to be hold right against the phone for about 10 seconds to get detected.
I'm going to try at another terminal and then I'll let you guys know here whether or not it works. My guess is we'll have to contact support and report it. Who knows if it'll ever get fixed though.

Guys I reported the issue to RedMagic support and sent feedback to Google Pay. I linked this thread for details. Not sure if it'll ever get fixed but it seems NFC works on this device, but sadly Google Pay is completely messed up.
I got the exact same error with NFC in North America. It says use only 1 card not 2. Payment is rejected. Same error all else have on North America / Global firmware. China ROM has no NFC settings available even though it has the same hardware...
Hello! I just found out out that NFC is not available in chinese models. Can anyone tell me if I can solve this by flashing an EU rom? Or there is no hardware for NFC at all? Thanks!

It worked the first time with Global Rom 4.09 but the second time on another terminal it had the same issue as before. (only one card please)
