Hello all,
I'm sorry if this has been already discussed and solved. I spent about 3-4 hours looking for a stock recovery (PC36IMG.ZIP) for 3.70.651.1. I haven't had any luck.
If someone could help me I will be super ecstatic. Thanks ahead.
I'm trying to restore my evo back to complete stock after using unrevoked forever. I used the RUU and got everything back to stock. But when I go into the recovery I get a picture of an evo with a big "X".
How and where do I get the stock recovery image? How do I apply it? (Do I just place it on root?)
Not the right section to be posting this Q since there is a Q & A section, but to answer your question that is the stock recovery.

When you run the RUU everything gets set back to Stock on the exception of your S-ON/S-OFF status in which case you just flash the unrevoked-forever-son.zip.

Trying to get recovery back to stock. Software matches Patalo's numbers.
Tried flashing just the recovery, but it said "no image" with file names after it about 3x. Guessing i need to use the complete Stock Incredible Image in order for it to work? Sorry... Noob here. Sharp learning curve.
Will this also work for Software ver. 3.26.605.1?
All other stats match patalo's.

Is this still on your website? It was unclear to me how to find it. I want the recovery to set my fiances Dinc back to stock recovery, accept the OTA for GB, then flash back CWM

"Pvillecomp.com" has the most up to date files to go back to stock and is what you are looking for. It is the new home of the support website "Dougpiston.com" which had all the recoveries, hboots, and accompanying information for the Incredible. I'm on my phone so I have no idea what site this person linked to.
Your post is somewhat confusing, why go back to stock to accept the Gingerbread OTA only to root again soon after? That's just a long winded way of wasting your time unless I'm missing something.
Is it possible to go from perm-root to 100% stock? I'm talking both the recovery and the ROM. If so, can anyone link an explanation or any necessary files? Thanks in advance.
I saw some guides on this forum that show a way to flash back to a stock rom which should also return the phone to s-on state.
I would however like to know if the clockwork recovery would also be flashed back to htc recovery.
Would that return the phone to 100% stock state as it applies to warranty?

Please use the search tool in the future... there's a thread for this in the android development section.

I rooted and unlocked my friend's Incredible and now he is having some problems. I have decided that he hasn't really tried hard enough to learn what I have taught him and he comes to me for everything. I am pretty sure I used unrevoked forever to root and get S-Off. Well I am trying to find a way just to get him back to the newest stock Incredible rom where he can just chill on that and not have any of these "problems." I have looked and searched and read all the stickies, but can't seem to find what I need to get back to stock. I have a Droid X and usually use sbf to flash back to stock. IS a RUU the same thing and what do I need to flash it back? Thanks in advance.

Just install Virtuous ROM 3.2 since it is essentially stock with bloat removed.

Hey guys,
I used the AlpharevX Windows beta to S-OFF my Inc 2, then rooted using CWM (still on stock rom). I can see the OTA, and can download it, but it won't install.
The progress bar gets about 1/3 the way full then comes up with the triangle with the !.
I've tried it two or three times, did factory reset, have no idea what to do. Do I have to S-ON for it to install? If so, how exactly do I do that?

First, you cannot install an OTA when you have a custom recovery such as CWM installed. You at least need to install the original recovery image for your particular ROM before you try again.
Since the OTA in now available and official, why don't you just wait a few hours and someone will have a fully rooted version of the ROM that you can flash using CWM and not worry about losing S-OFF?
Let me give you a fair warning though, I'm not positive how Alpha set up their root, as I used XTC. BUT I know if you install the OTA with replacing CWM with regular recovery, you MAY be turned back to S-ON WITHOUT an option to get root back, UNLESS using the XTC clip. Enjoy.
Okay, I was afraid of that. I'm used to not even being able to see OTA's at all with CWM (came from Droid X), so it kind of threw me off.
Do you have any idea if the OTA is really any different from the leaked Inc S GB rom that's floating around? If, for some reason, it takes forever to get the ota rooted and they're not that different I may just install the leaked one I have.
Not trying to be a pain, just curious.
Thanks,

Check the Dev section. It looks like there is already a rooted, debloated version available.
I just created a PG32IMG.zip containing. Android-info text file and CWM recovery img renamed to recovery.img and placed it on root of sdcard
Booted into hboot and flashed it ...
Then I replaced the recovery with the stock recovery from the froyo ruu and flashed the stock recovery back....
Then flashed right back to CWM..
Never used any commands via windows or linux
I am going to install the ota and try to go back to cwm recovery and see what I can do from there.
I'll keep you guys informed

This way we will know if the s-off is similar to.unrevoked for the incredible 1. I could do this all day long with theirs.
One way to find out right.

You will recieve the OTA update and get Gingerbread. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED BY MANY that you will NOT be able to -reroot. if you can that's because of the hboot alpha gave you. but if it changes ur hboot you need XTC clip to re-root. RMK already posted a ROOTED ROM of the current OTA. SAME THING, why chance root for OTA. THEY ARE THE EXACT SAME FILES. BUT WITH ROOT! just use his ROM. my 2 cents. do as you please
Link
Hey, Instead of Don't do this, do that, do this, don't update that, If you want the release and don't want to lose root, install from this link. This guy(rmk40) spent some time to get this out to us. Awesome work! You won't lose root, everything works.

Any way to get rid of the revolutionary hboot back to normal and s-on back ever since i did this my wifi worked a couple of days then stopped working says error i flashed latest RUU and still no luck on wifi opened up to make sure all contacts were being made every thing ok the only thing i can account for is maybe the revolutionary so i want to get rid of it is there a solution yet for evo. i know the HTC desire has a solution but does evo
There are a few guides here in development. Just use the search button. Search "unrooting guide". Just a heads up, you'll want to post future questions over in the Q&A section. Development is usually reserved for active ROM, Kernel and guide activity. You may also try searching through here for a solution other than unrooting. Check the thread for the ROM you're running and see if anyone else has a fix for the WiFi problem. Hope this was a help!

I would try flashing calkulins combo file with the latest radios, and see if that fixes your wifi. Also, if you flashed a rom and then flashed a custom kernel, the kernel could of borked your wifi. When you flashed the latest ruu, is your sd card partitioned? Did you make sure you wiped everything atleast 3 times in recovery before flashing anything?
