For my own personal needs, I need a video camera that can
focus when touched.
And the only rom I can do this on is Virtuous.
But battery life on Virtuous isn't as decent as Cyonagen.
I need a rom with Cyonagen battery life and Virtuous camera options.
And suggestions??

I get awesome battery life running Virtuous 0.9.5 and the Standard v2.1.1 kernel. What version of Virtuous and what kernel are you using? I don't need anything over 1.0 GHz, and not going over that gives me superb battery life without skimping on performance.

What version of the kernel are you running? The latest is 2.1.1. If you initially installed Virtuous 1.0.0 and upgraded to 1.0.1, I believe the kernel version is different. I'd recommend flashing the 2.1.1 standard kernel if that's not what is currently installed on your phone.
Do you have lots of widgets on your homescreens? Just not sure why you're not getting good battery life.

The question about porting the Sense camera to CM or other ROMs has been asked a bunch of times on these forums. It hasn't been done yet, that I know of. It would be great. The Sense camera is excellent, and just about the only thing I miss from the Sense ROM.

i am currently using HOTSAUCE ROM and loving it. but battery life was draining way to quick.
VIDEO TAKING WAS LIMITED to 30 minutes.
so i installed Virtuous v0.9.0 Sense but wasnt very customizable so i switched back to HOTSAUCE ROM.
also has unlimited time for VIDEO TAKING.
(video is important to me)
GingerVillain 1.5
Why?
I like gingerbread, it's fast, OC'd @ 1,4 GHZ and battery life is pretty good.
CyanogenMod. It's the best. 'nuff said.

select the link in the post, advanced kernel allows OC to 1.49ghz but requires setcpu parameters.
I've tried a lot of roms, and let me say that Virtuous is an awesome rom if you like the Sense UI. Awesome. I just had a problem with one app fc'ing all the time, so I started trying others. I am staying on the Cyanogen Nightlies, because they run so quickly and smoothly, especially with pershoot kernel.
I have not tried GingerVillain since I'm having so much fun with the nightlies.

Faster because it is almost stock Android and no additional hacks like in CM7 + Needs less space on system partition (because of no added apps).
Cheers for the reply, I assume to take advantage of that extra space I need to s-off and use custom hboot right?

I only used MIUI aosp RoM its very fast and smooth
CyanogenMOD 7
I used it for 2 months and never have problems with it!
GingerVillain, Cyanogenmod
Cyanogen. In my experience the fastest ROM my phone's ever seen.
or try MIUI if you're looking for a whole new UI experience - it's pretty damn good. Can't bring myself to change it

Nah you need not, but if you want the extra space you should.
Also it's down to preferences, but my experience also give the win to oxygen hands down. CM is nice in its own way, but at some points it's just disturbingly complex(yes you get a lot of extra features which is unneeded for me) and many times it stutter at some user-interactions, where oxygen just feels more solid as well as minimal to me.
Redux 1.2. No word of a lie.
HTC Desire, Redux 1.2, S-OFF, CM7 HBOOT.
Tried the latest CM7 but it was rather 'sluggish'... Now tried Redux 1.2 and it's really really nice. DIdn't try Oxygen, perhaps I'll do it when I have some time, but not right now!
For me Oxygenrom offers the best performance. Battery life is also quite good
So I've been running Oxygen 2.2 then 2.2.1 and now I'm on the Redux2 snapshot. Still hard to choose between them. But because it's complete, I would change my suggestion to Oxygen.
PHONE: HTC Desire GSM, S-OFF
ROM: Redux2 Snapshot 18082011
RADIO: 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2
KERNEL: thalamus 2.6.35.14_r1
Oxygen is the best since it is minimal so that you can add many things accordingly to your needs.
Whats best is subjective. Whats fastest depends on how you use your phone. The fastest ROM I have tried is Redux 1.2
Also, just because something is close to stock doesn't automatically mean its going to be faster.
Fastest and best aosp I've found is GingerVillain 2.8
All the benefits of CM7 but with the added tweaks from Richard Trip.
(Found the home screens were a little sluggish when going from one to another when I first started using it, but then added Launcher Pro to it and now it flies!)
hey guys im looking to root and put a rom on the incredible and i was wondering what do you think is the fastest ROM. i would prefer something stable.
thanks

Another +1.
This is my first custom ROM experience on the Incredible and its snappiness feels very much like our Incredible 2 that got its Gingerbread OTA last month. Thus far it's been solid, too.
Despite all the interesting ROMs out there to try, I'm getting stuck on Stock Plus v2 very quickly.
- ooofest
Any of the stock leaks with tinys latest. Only sense 1.0, but everything works, zero lag, and amazing battery. Faster than cm7 or any of the aosp roms. 3.5 sense is not even close to being as fast on our phones.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Every time you go up on sense versions the ROMs get slower and slower, stick to sense 1 and you're sure to get a fast ROM. All gingerbread ROMs have bugs tho so some of the older sense 1 froyo ROMs are probably less buggy...

Answer: Jermaine's stock plus
I've installed Jermaine's Stock Plus on my Incredible and several others
for friends of friends. The experience is just like HTC and VZN intended,
but without all the junk that slows down a cold stock phone. Before
flashing his ROM, I deleted a couple other apk's that I wouldn't be using,
and made it FAST FAST FAST no lag anywhere and it only sips the battery.
Can go on one charge til end of day, using it for phone, Maps, and txting.
It's a great daily user with no force closes or problem apps.
Props to all the devs who worked on the end result!
ITSA FINE!

re: removal of Friendstream.apk --
No constant sync here for Google Contacts and Calendar plus Weather.
I'm not using Exchange.
If you run Exchange, that may happen. I think it needs Friendstream.apk
to run OK.

I'm Using Oxygen for a long time now.
even thought it isn't heavily customizeable as the CM7,
it has enough feature as setCPU, power widgets on top...
but! the main feature is speed. it's working extremely smooth, and latest gingerbread.
i love it.
I've used and tried a lot of roms for both AOSP and Sense. I do prefer AOSP. I used to use CM7 but I use MIUI now. Want keen on other AOSP roms.
Punched in..
At the moment I´m testing between Revolution 1.7 and Runny 3.x
Revolution seems stable, but sense 3.5 looks good.

GingerVillain 3.3 (aosp), RT's 3.1 HAVS kernel, Go Launcher Ex.
Smooth, stable, no lags or fc's, good battery life, launcher is highly customizable. Keep trying Sense rom's (3.0 and 3.5) but always come back to this
Cyanogen 7.1 and I love it.
Insertcoin Sense 1.1.3..
...although I'm getting tempted by Sense 3.5 Roms.
I use Redux 2 . Clean, fast, stable.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
AOSP ROMs are the best for me (IMHO, sense roms are too overloaded) and there it's currently rootSU's dGB rom which is the best for me. Smooth (smoothest AOSP ever used), clean (uses only 60 MB of /system), stable and very nice battery life with ManU 1.4 (kernel)vipermod (for lowering CPU voltage) and setcpu (for controlling cpu frequencies).
But maybe I will test redux in the near future, because it was my first AOSP rom and I liked it very much. However, dGB hasn't given me any reason to this yet.

I have used the following ROMs
1. stock sense

3.MIUI-XJ
4. MIUI Mararge

Hmmm, in general Sense ROMs are the most battery-draining of all, especially the 3 and 3.5 ones (just imagine that the stock Desire came with just a version of Sense 1.0).
Rule of thumb is that the more "stripped" the ROM, the better the battery life will be. Therefore any AOSP ROM will generate maximum battery life.
It depends, but you can try any of the miui ROMs, or if you prefer sense ROMs you can try aurora.
A AOSP like oxygen or CM based rom should be fine.
For CM based kernels use ManU HAVS BFS Kernel or CronMod Kernel. Both are great oh battery!
For oxygen use Thalamus kernel or mod8 (which is the same thing with Smartass cpu governor).
