Yeah man i dont know whats wrong. I use mobile odin pro all tje time and it says flashing kernel but it wont do anything. Weird.

yp yup. its doing the same thing as musclehead. says its flashing but afterwards just goes back to the homescreen.
its doing the same thing to me. im not sure if it matters but i did notice when i had superSU installed it wouldnt work but it was doing something different. after i uninstalled superSU and updated the binarny for the regular superuser.apk app it seemed to do an extra step that i dint notice it wasnt doing on prior tries. so if any of u are using superSU then uninstall it and see what i mean. maybe that can help us fig it out. cause i did notice at the bottom of superSU it says something about "injecting superSU"...sorry if my wording on that was confusing.
I noticed when I am using it to replace a stock kernel it doesn't reboot, but it does install kernel I wanted. I just manually reboot.

Worked fine for me to flash ACS FE16 kernel and the ones before. Try reinstalling?

This may not be not be helpful,
The same was happening to me but it was with modems, and it was several builds ago. I was stuck with FD19 (not a complaint, seeing as how that's the best modem for me so far)
It definitely is not an overall Mobile Odin thing, for me... when I couldn't install a new modem it wouldn't do it from the unlocked stock recovery either. It would SAY that it was. So I was thinking that it was a kernel issue.. Doesn't Mobile Odin make himself a copy of your current kernel to use a "flash kernel?'
Also, are you using "open file" with a .tar or are you placing the zImage directly in the kernel slot? I have noticed varying results when I do it differently.
As a temporary solution, download "Hc-kTool" from the market.
This app is also a must have. You can dump your current kernel, flash zImages, install update.tar packets with a zImage, modem.bin, and param.lfs, backup and restore EFS...
Just until MoOd is up and running for you this should hold you over.

I tried out FE10 (Sfhub) the other day, and tried to mobile Odin back to EL29 and it wouldn't work. I'm guessing its the same scenario as you're having on FE16. Everything works as normal, and then right after it says "flashing kernel", it just does nothing instead of rebooting and flashing like it should.

I've noticed on some of the TW based roms when I would flash a kernel with mobile odin it just doesnt reboot the phone after flashing. I would then reboot into recovery and the kernel I had flashed would be there.
Try going into developers settings uncheck usb debugging it was doing the same thing for me and reboot.

Sometimes I'd flash a kernel threw mobile Odin. And it wouldn't do the reboot at first I thought it didn't work. And would do it over again but one day I I checked to see if the kernel was flashed regardless and it was good to go. Plus it still happens here and there and every time kernel still flashes great. :what:

This is a strange issue. I am on FE16 and I used Mobile Odin 3 times today and it worked perfectly. It flashed and the phone rebooted and I was on my way. I am still using Venum Ice FE16 for what its worth

Weird, I've always had HC-kTool as the name, oh well, it's a great app, by any name.
Also; I had the moble odin doing nothing issue, after you tell him what to do and he does nothing just immediately boot into recovery and he'll go about his business.
mobile odin fail
been flashing roms ok and kernals fine can't get the modems to change after flashing.

It's a known fact that Mobile Odin does not flash cdma modems. They need to either be flashed via recovery or through the use of desktop Odin.
Ha! Known to you maybe, I never looked into it

Hey guys i'm pretty much out of of options. I have tried Many Many Many different versions of "stock" tmobile S3 roms, but i either get to the modem flash and it fails, or i get various lengths into system flash and it fails. ive gone thru the stock Tmobile rom thread Here and cannot seem to figure out which file i need to download, but ive read all the way thru the threads and download majority of the T999UVALEM tar files to no avail....
Any ideas?
using Oden 3.07.
Try downloading the updated stock UVALH2 build and flash with Odin.

thanks for the reply. I tried flashing the same file that was failing with another pc and it worked without any issues... i'm not sure what was going, but it had me slightly worried..
ive owned many htc devices, but this is my first samsung one.. slight different approach to recovering everything
Yeah, it takes getting used to, but honestly I like it more than htc now that I've got the hang of things.
You may have had a corrupted download, or could've had something to do with the drivers too. If you want to use your pc again uninstall everything (phone related of course) and start over from scratch
Glad you got it figured out!

I tried to flash the MG1 modem from the tread using mobile odin (untar the MG1.tar, flash modem.bin using modem2 option). When I rebooted the baseband under settings/about was unknown and I couldn't get any reception. What am I doing wrong?

Try re flashing your kernel of choice... If that doesn't work you'll have to stay on the modem specific to your carrier 1337m don't have any issues flashing international modems so I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I tried to re-flash using ODIN 3.07, and I get an error saying that the C++ runtime crashed. I wonder whether the file is corrupt (I have re-downloaded MG1.tar, still same problem).... Very odd..
Somewhat, mobile odin broke my CWM recovery as well during this process. When I try to reboot into recovery to flash the kernel, the phone simply reboot after showing th small blue rebooting recovery text. So, I had to reflash the recovery through desktop odin again... Anyhow, long story short, I have reflashed google play edition 4.2.2 kernel that I was using, and still cannot get any reception (modem section still unknown) with the MG1 modem file...

Ok, back to square 1. Fixed the unknown baseband and I am at the original MDL.
Now, I decided to go the DESKTOP ODIN route. Extracted modem.bin, fired up ODIN 3.07, clicked phone, selected modem.bin, unchecked auto reboot, hit start and got fail!. The phone screen shows "secure check fail : mdm". Is this MG1 modem maybe not compatible with M919?
I don't this is a good idea. Flashing other carrier's modem??

Hi xda, I hope your Friday is going well.
EDIT: My calling problem was not fixed. I reflashed 4.4.2 NB4 Modem (twice to make sure it stuck) and the calling still does not work. Did something just completely fry when I had CM11 on this thing? Any ideas anybody? I don't even hear a dial tone if I am the one dialing out, the call still goes through though.
Everything below was my original post which has been resolved, didn't want to start a new thread though.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TL;DR: My T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4 (SGH-M919) is unable to boot stock rom, and I am unable to enter recovery. I get seandroid messages trying to do either. Fortunately, the phone can enter download mode. What do I need to do or flash to get this phone booting again? Thank you in advance for taking the time to read and help out.
Below is the long story with details:
1. The phone was given to me running stock Android/TouchWiz. Unfortunately, I do not know what version but I assume it was whatever was the latest version as of late April.
2. I rooted the phone using Odin and CF Auto Root.
3. I created a backup of this newly rooted stock rom.
4. I flashed Cyanogenmod 11
5. After a while I discovered that I could answer calls but I could not hear nor be heard during the call.
6. I restored to the stock rom using the backup I made in step 3.
7. The calling issue continued, so I figured I would just unroot and go back to like-new factory settings. This way I could take the phone in to be repaired or whatever.
8. Following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2336392, I attempted to flash k0nane's UVUAMDL Official Tar
9. Odin got stuck connecting to my device, I believe it was because I did not run Odin as admin. I pulled the battery and repeated this step while running Odin as admin.
10. The flash was successful, however during the phone's first boot it got stuck on the T-Mobile splash screen for about 30 minutes or so. I pulled the battery again.
11. Anytime I put the battery back in the phone, it will attempt to boot and hang at the T-Mobile screen, I believe this is a boot loop?
Looking online, people suggest going into recovery and wiping but I cannot enter recovery. I just get the seandroid not enforcing messages. I'm very hesitant to keep looking through the forums and trying things because I feel like I'm on the edge of bricking the phone if I haven't already.
I don't think the flash was successful because it wouldn't give you those messages, and you would need to flash either 4.3 or 4.4.2 not 4.2.2 (MDL) Try flashing a newer firmware version.. If it was updated to the newest then I would try 4.4.2

This is where I obtained the rom above that I wasn't sure was the newest.
I flashed this rom and everything worked, thank you both.
Any ideas on what happened with the phone call issue? My friend that gave me the phone said it was working just fine when she had it, so I assume somehow the rooting or CM11 screwed something up? Weirdly, calling through WiFi works just fine.

The only thing that can foul up your phone like that would be a bad cm flash or preflash, it's super important to read and read again, check the thread for support from members and resolutions to problems before you consider the build for your phone. Ask questions and double check everything before you take the plunge.
I assume that the calling problem is fixed, a corrupt modem may cause that and re flashing the modem will correct this.

I think something definitely went wrong.. Try flashing this firmware, it flashes better for most people http://www.cheatersedge.org/android/m919/M919UVUFNB4_M919TMBFNB4_TMB_FENNY_FIXED.zip after that, factory reset and if that still doesn't work then you have a bigger problem.. Good luck!

I flashed both Fenny's firmware and a baseband he also provided. Did both twice, and calls are still not working.
I was doing some research on this whole "Radio: Unknown" thing and I started seeing threads talking about flashes corrupting the phone's EFS partition. I never made a backup of mine, so I have nothing to restore to. Is it possible that I could use someone else's EFS backup and then use it to restore my phone's EFS partition? Does it work like that?

Flashing modems and such with a custom rom installed often fails. Did you try doing a restore to full stock using Odin?
It sounds like the phoen has Android 4.4 on it already so you will need to flash the full 4.4 package (can't go back to 4.3 or 4.2)
Try and, boot hte phoen without modifying it, and see if calls work then.
The EFS thing is about the IMEI number. Does your device show an IMEI number in settings? If it does, your EFS isn't the problem. If it doesn't....well then yeah. Problem is pretty much narrowed down.

The EFS thing is about the IMEI number. Does your device show an IMEI number in settings? If it does, your EFS isn't the problem. If it doesn't....well then yeah. Problem is pretty much narrowed down.

I have restored the phone to full stock and have been using it that way since I started this thread. Everything is just like fresh from the factory (except for the knox counter being tripped obviously). Calls still didn't work. An IMEI number still shows up the phone's settings. Using WiFi calling hasn't been that bad at all, but I'm screwed in the case of a real emergency with this thing.
If i use odin to flash a stock firmware will it delete all of the pictures inside the phone?
No. I have pictures and music and all SD card contents dating back to the time I bought the phone and I used Odin last week to return to stock.

No, but you may need to factory reset, which would delete all the files in your device..
There are possible ways trying to get around this, but its safer to just back up your important files in case something unexpected happens

Don't know, often times that means a factory reset might be needed, but can you tell me what happened to it? There may be other ways to fix it

The phone belongs to a buddy of mine but he told me it just randomly happened.
btw nice e90

Hmm.. Ok try flashing firmware with Odin, if that doesn't fix it then flash twrp recovery and reboot to recovery, after that do a factory reset within twrp.. This will perform a factory reset without wiping user files.. Reboot and it should boot up
Edit: oh and yes I know, wish it was mine :/

Right, but you're not flashing a rom, you're flashing firmware.. You could also just flash a rom, but I don't know how your buddy wants his device
Bro I love m3's!! Been in love with them since day one.. I just have that display pic because it looks nice lol

EDIT: When i attempt to flash with odin it says <OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1) and the phone says odin flash write faliure
What firmware version did you try to flash? If it was ever updated to 4.3 you can only ever flash the same or newer firmware again. So if it had been updated to NC2 before, you can only flash NC2 firmware. (Latest version). If this doesn't apply, you might want to try reinstalling drivers. Also, only use Odin v3.07 or 3.09.
You can try to odin flash twrp recovery though, then make a nandroid backup to be safe. It also has a built in file manager and you can use it to copy the picture folder from internal to external sd card.

I downloaded the latest 4.3 and tried to flash that but didnt work im not sure what the phone had before and can i flash the twrp recovery if the phone wasnt rooted?
Yes, you can flash a custom recovery without root. Its actually the original root method if I'm not mistaken. (Flash recovery, then from that recovery flash the SuperSU update zip. )
Since youre using the latest firmware, we know that's not the cause at least.
Few other things that are known to cause Odin to fail...
Make sure you are using the correct firmware for the device. (Make sure if its a T999, T999L, T999N, T999V and use the corresponding firmware)
If kies is on your computer, uninstall it
Try different usb cables, yes they quite often do go bad.
Try every usb port on your computer. I've seen more than a few people find it only worked on one usb port! No idea why...
Try different driver versions. Make sure you uninstall through device manager. Drivers are in my sig.
If all else fails, try a different computer if possible.
If I think of anything else ill add it.

Yup, everything Doc said.. Double check firmware or Odin may be a little picky

I tried what you guys said and none of it worked and then i tried to install a recovery through odin and that worked. Through recovery I tried to install a zip firmware that i got from another firmware and now the phone does not start at all no boot screen no download mode no nothing. Is it fully gone now?

Firmware or ROM? And what zip is this you're talking about? Can you get into recovery? If not then you might have bricked it

I used this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2403060 at the bottom of the first post
and yeah no recovery
but when i plug it into my computer it beeps like if something just was plugged in
That thread is pretty old and I think that was for LJA, if the phone was updated to 4.3 and you tried that it makes sense that it would brick.. Does it give you message in the connected devices?
