[Q] TV Tube - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone been able to extract the TV Tube animation from the Gingervillain rom, or is it even possible? I find the animation really cool when you shut the screen off. Just wanted to know if someone did it, cause I don't really want to flash to the Gingervillain rom with some people reporting random reboots and other bugs.
Looks like this:

Its part of gingerbread. You can get it if you flash CM7.

Which Gingerbread build....

Is the closest to vanilla (ie Nexus S)? I've noticed they seem all based on Cyanogen Mod 7. While I like the builds, and have the best luck with the GingerVillan's, I don't know which is the closest to a stock Vanilla Rom. I feel like every little tweak's been added etc. While I have no problem with that, I'm just trying to find the closest to a stock build atm. Thanks a lot guys, and keep up the hard work!
im also interested in knowing this. im currently on stock and wanna give GB a try
I am running GingerVillain and love it...everything works and runs flawlessly for me, some complain of battery life, but I am running a Mugen so I cant confirm
Running GingerVillain and it appears to be the most stable of them all.
I am also running gingervillian....and its awesome....everything works fine n smooth....n its super fast....if u want to know which one is closest to stock vanilla....I would say gingervillian as it has the stock launcher...on the other hand cm7 use adw launcher...everhything else is pretty same...by far m really happy with gingervillian...

[Q] Telus ARHD 3 Options and Alternatives

Just wondering what roms fellow TELUS Desire HD users are using, and if you're experiencing any mass bugs? I'm currently running ARHD 3 with sense. After install I still needed to install the telus/inspire audio fix because prior to it my calls sounded horrible. I haven't played much with setcpu, but have pushed my CPU up to 1.2ghz for a bit. The first Rom I used was raidroid and as of yet I haven't flashed any custom kernels. I've also flashed the elequant blue theme for a quick change but I'm already becoming restless. For the record though everything seems to be running fine eg. WiFi, video, weather. Also note - before ARHD 3 I did a full wipe. So what are your suggestions for a different kernel or do you think there is a better alternative rom, or ones to stay clear of for now?
My Telus DHD with ARHD 3.0 has one bug in it, It wont let me connect to the mobile network. When I try to turn it on it just gets stuck at "Turning On" and doesn't progress. If anyone knows what i need to do to fix it (other than flashing ARHD 2.1), it would be much appreciated
I'm running CyanogenMod 7 nightly #11 on my Telus desire HD. Been pretty happy with it, no major issues or bugs.

Did you do a full wipe before flash? Also I flashed Telus Radio_12.35d.60.140f_26.06.03.24_M2 awhile back (via usb/pc not clockwork mod). Lastly I used APN Manager to backup my APN before I ever flashed any roms and then I reinstall and restore my APN backup everytime I flash a new rom. Did you configure your APN?

Nice thats what I want to try next. Any extra effort required eg. Telus Kernal?
The only other thing I had to do was flash the inspire audio fix to get rid of the tinny sound.

Ill wait for #13. They say everything will be fixed in it and nothing more will be needed.
Decided to Try CoreDroid 3.1 Themed
Wow. I'm loving it. Blazing fast great battery life, and love the experience. My favorite so far for the speed and simplicity and the very subtle theme tweaks. You can tell they took their time getting this right. My only 2 beefs are that the home screen launcher bar looks almost like the basic stock one even though its menus are awesome, and I had to select United States english. But damn that's knit picking this rom is awesome. Also I had to flash the Inspire 4G/Telus audio fix for phone calls, and set APN manually. The only downside is when I finished completing a full wipe and flash of the ROM 3.1 they released 3.2 with an updated kernel. 3.2 is based on 1.84.661.1 and the recommended radio is 26.06.03.24_M2. Sounds like a perfect match for me to Telus. I'll let you know how it goes tonight.

[Q] Fast Boot for Evo

I have an Evo 4G running CM7 RC1 and I was wandering if there was a way to get fast boot similar to that of the Desire Z. There was a video of a Nexus One running CM 6.1.2 that was able to fast boot/hibernate but I cannot seem to find more on that. Please let me know. Or is there anyway to speed up the boot sequence it seems to take 1-2 minutes.

I have attempted using CM7 rc2 but was handsome issues. I will try again. Currently I am running uncommon sense. I really like this one. I flashed in incredikernel and love it. I did have to flash in an older clockwork to get it to flash however. I have also used raider Athena and swarm Z twopointwo. There are a lot of roms out there to choose from. I would search around and read the posts for each rom and see what you are looking for. There was a post on here with a list of roms. There is also a list of different content at theincrediblelist.com.
Have fun and welcome to the Droid community!
I really liked the reviews and look of the warm 2.2 and want to try it out but the tutorial I watched on how to install it didn't work. So I used rom manager and am currently cm7 and I'm having avfew issues but they could just be a lack of basic knowledge. I'm getting a lot of force closes. But luckily I took al the safety procedures I could and I have everything backed up. Except my contacts and things of that nature. Its kind of annoying haha. But anyways thank you for replying. I'm sure ill have some more questions up soon. Thanks again!
Incredibly Reengineered is the ROM you want. Fast with great battery life. Search the dev forums for it.

Yeah i've heard a lot about that rom. I want to try it and I will very soon. Thanks again
I'm using CM7 nightly 30 with zero issues at all. Works perfectly. Great battery life for my uses. Highly recommend.
I've been trying a lot of the cm7 versions and I'm getting a lot of force closes when I pull up just about any app. I haven't found a stable one for me yet. But it may be in just doing some things wrong. Not sure. Kinda going into this whole thing blind. Surprised I haven't damaged my phone yet truthfully. But also on cm7 rc2. It doesn't reboot at all. It tries but gets stuck at the load screen. I'm going to try the nightlies version tonight though.
You need to go into Rom Manager and do "Fix Permissions". This usually fixes all of my force closes after a new ROM. (and subsequent Titanium backup app restore )
So I did that and it force closed my entire phone and shut it down and it wouldn't reboot or turn back on at all. So I installed incredibly reengineered. Its the only rom I haven't had troubles with.

WarmZ 2.2 is a great rom. I've been using it for about two weeks. The RLS is really stable and is very quick. The nightlies are pretty clean too. Check it out.
I used CM7 for a while and got a little bored with it. For the past month or so I have been using Warm Z TwoPointTwo and absolutely LOVE it. Incubus is on top of the nightlys and has opened them up for us all to test. I personally am running the 3/31 nightly with no issues so far. I liked the sense ui and the sense icons and widgets and this ROM is based on Sense 2.0 so it has all kinds of nice goodies. I would give this ROM a try. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901822

Rooting girlfriends INC2 got a couple Q's?

So I was able to downgrade the phone to 2.3.3, I was able to intstall revolutionary and got S-off. Had problems trying to flash the superuser as well but finally got it. Also just got around to installing ROM manager on it before she took off for work. Now my questions are, 1. Why isnt there a recovery app? Like right now I am on my rooted X2 on CM7 and have CM7 recovery as before that I had just had a recovery app (green arrow going in circle) but on my girls INC2, no recovery app appeared after messing with revolutionary. Does that mean I have to power down and volume down+power in oreder to get into recovery and flash a ROM everytime? Or could this be done through ROM manager? Don't know too much about HTC as I am on motorola, trying somthing new but don't want to ruin her phone in the process lol. Thanks for any info in advance. Appreciate all the help I can get.

During Rev, you should have got an option saying "Do you want to install CWM Recovery?". If you said yes, you're good to go. If not, you need to download ROM Manager from the market and flash CWM through that.
Yes I got that message and I said yes. The program on my PC then goes away and the phone goes to Hboot or whatever the recovery is called. I see it says revolutionary at top and S-off but when I reboot phone there is no CWM app. Shouldnt have to power down and then boot everytime correct? I just got confused lol, really not used to HTC.

Well it won't matter. As long as you download ROM manager you'll be fine. From ROM manager you'll be able to manage your roms, change names and boot into recovery.
Edit: And if she's not happy with the ROM you put for her, just load up MIUI. I put it on my gfs EVO and she loved the theming and ease of use.
Once you have a rom that has a 4 way power control, you will be able to go straight to recovery when powering down, or as stated use Rom manager or 4ext recovery control and you can go to recovery from there as stated above.
If your GF doesn't want anything crazy rom wise, there are stock debloated rooted roms available that have the 4 way power option. Check the dev section. Lot of good stuff in there
Awesome thanks for the quick replies. Will try flashing somthing as soon as she gets home. I have been looking at MIUI and it does look nice. Even for my X2, looks a bit more stable for her device as apose mine. She's been really liking my CM7 and have been looking at that ROM for the INC2 as well. Looks EXACTLY like my ROM. Except I've read somewhere there is no audio for the videos you record and that sucks cuz my GF really likes recording our son running around doing and saying crazy things hahaha. So if all is well like you guys are saying, now I'm stuck on which ROM to flash. Thanks again for the info, has helped relieve alot of stress for me thinking I had to REDO EVERYTHING! That would suck! lol. So what do you guys think the most stable and best ROM out there for the INC2?
Sent from My MB870/DROID X2 Running CM7
Cm7, well the latest Kangs have been good. Didn't know about the audio on the vid recording not working though, huh... Nitsuj's stock rom is good if she likes sense, and wants everything to work
My self, I keep Cm7 as a backup on my Sd card, and have been mostly using the Ics builds for the past few months now. I like the newest Aokp release at the moment (27), and have also had good luck with Nitsij's Miui V4. Aeoreven has been doing CM9 build's as well that have been really good too.
The Sense 3.5 roms are nice, and for the most part, everything works.
Awesome, all sounds great to me. Just going to have to ask her for her opinion now. Thanks alot again, you guys on these forums rock and don't know what I'd do without yall. Will let everyone know how it goes later! Hopefully a nice screenshot! =-)

I like sabatoge sense, lot like stock with pretty 3.0 sense parts added into it, and its trouble free like stock. Be sure and wipe everything before you flash a ROM everytime, and I reccomend 4ext recovery over cwm

Like I said before MIUI but you can also settle down for Mikrunny. The camera is great for your son and she can use the SRS enhancement feature in the music player to have great sound quality. One thing about these sense ROMs though is that they are memory hogs. The Mikrunny ROM comes overclocked to 1.5 (I believe), so it sort of fixes that problem.
I use newts stuff a lot (miks runny, inc HD), I find that inc hd ran faster, they both almost run at stock speeds, one thing I found annoying with those roms though is that if u click on a phone number link in a message or web page, Google voice, it would try to dial it but never go through, may be a small issue for some but it really bugged me. I believe its cause its a UK based build. You can listen to everyone suggest and argue but the best thing you can do is make a back up of stock then start flashing and decide for yourself

Yessss, worked out great. Gotta screenshot but it may look kinda bad cuz I sent it via MMS from the INC2 to my X2. But ended up going with the CM7 for now since her heart was set on the look of mine lol. But thank you again to all for suggestions. Going to be trying all sorts of roms now. MIUI is most likely going to be the next. I explained it to her and she seemed very interested. Need to get in a better wifi spot to get these roms easier. Had to use my X2 to download her rom, place it on PC then onto her SD, talk about alot of bs to go through lol. Again, you guys are awesome on these forums and can't thank you all enough!

If you go for MIUI, either use the ICS MIUI v4 by nitsuj in the dev section or the GB MIUI 1.29 release. Everything since has been unusable.
Thanks for that chunk of info. CM7 seems pretty solid for her device right now. So I see no reason for another ROM but I'm glad I didn't flash a buggy one off bat. Thanks for the heads up.
