[Q] 3G Data problems with custom rom - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys please forgive my ignorance, but I'm not able to access my 3G data allows with the krispy duck rom. I get 1gb each month so would really like to be able to use this.
All help is appreciated

Is it possible you've lost your APN settings for your network provider?

Any way I can get these back??

Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Network Settings -> Access point names (APN's)
If nothing is there, then Menu -> New and fill in the relevant data for your network.

Thanks guys! After a bit of playing I've finally got it all to work.
Thanks for the point in the right direction.

Roaming and data connection

Hello everyone,
I'll get my Desire in 5 days and I have a question for all you that already has one.
I use "3 Italy" as provider and I need to know if there is a simple way on Desire to block data connection when the phone will go in roaming.
On my good old HD2 I've used NoDataInRoaming. There is something similar for the Desire (or the solution is built in the the phone)?
Someone has a solution?
Thanks,
ghale

Thanks mate,
I've not the manual with me because I've not the device but now I'm downloading (the italian version) it and I'll start to read it.
Thank you very much!
In Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks settings there is an option for data roaming, I think it is not ticked by default so the desire will not connect to data when roaming.
When you select to turn it on it gives a pop up warning that 'you may incur significant roaming charges'.
Hello,
thanks to you, too.
I've just find that on the Desire Manual.
Thanks.

Hi curtis818,
Check "Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names". There should be an entry with something like the name of your provider. If this is empty, press "Menu" and add the information, necessary for your provider, to get HSDPA / 3G Connection. These information can easily be found on google.
Hope this helps

[q] editing MMS Connection Settings

hi,
how do i edit connection settings in the messages folder to make my ROM usable with my provider's MMS settings? everything is greyed out and inaccessible.
i have the info needed from a working phone...
you need to check your APN settings
i dont have that option in wireless & networks

what option? if you mean "it's not there", that's the whole point, you need to add it >menu >new APN
you need to check with your telco as to what their MMS settings are
in mobile network settings what i get is data roaming, data roaming sound, enable always - on mobile connectivity, and system select (cdma roaming mode). thats it
i see the settings if i go to the messaging menu (inbox) then press menu - settings - connection settings. but they're inaccessible
Do you have a CDMA or GSM phone?
cdma...................
you really should have mentioned that, it's really very significant!
you need a ROM that supports CDMA phones, you can't just put whatever on there

ROGERS r800i 3g settings

So I bought this phone about a year ago here in Canada, but I use it before in the Philippines and i don't need 3g there, now i'm here in Canada and i'm using rogers sim now, problem is i can't use my 3g now, i dunno what's wrong so i called rogers, but no luck, they say that i have to factory reset my phone, but i don't want to do that (maybe because this is originally r800a).. i'm here now in Toronto and i badly needs the TTC app..
So can anyone share their 3g settings or whatever for this to work.
You'll need to be able to change your APN (Access Point Name) via an app or your own power (phone being unlocked).
Settings -> Wireless and Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names (Or something close)
Then fill in the data according to this page:

Then your 3g should work as well as MMS.

[Q] Rogers GS3 unlocked for ATT - NO DATA!

I have a galaxy S3 (SGH-I747) originally on Rogers form Canada. I bought an Un lock code and unlocked it. The phone shows signal, makes calls and SMS, but NO 4G and NO network access. (internet pages don't load when disconnected from WiFi)
Under Mobile Network I cannot connect to ATT's network. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? Or is there a ROM i need to install after I ROOT the phone? Do I even need to ROOT it? (Sorry in advance, i come from the world of Jailbreaking, but have rooted Droids in the past)
Thx!
I'm not an expert, but you probably need to check your APN settings, and change them to AT&Ts if they aren't already. You can check this in Settings -> More Settings (in Wireless and networks section) -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names
I don't know what the AT&T settings should be, but you can probably find it easily enough. Also, you might want to Shut down the phone, remove the SIM, reboot without a sim, then shut down and put it in again to make it read the APN settings from the sim
Try flashing the ATT rom and see if that makes it work to start.
Got It!!!
I had to manually add my APN settings. I was over looking the button on the bottom left to configure it.
Thanks for the help!:cyclops:
Does the SGH-I747 (Rogers version form Canada) pick up LTE on AT&T?
