So the market looks a bit different on the xoom.. is there any way to get that version functional on the Evo? There are tablet specific apps that I would like to be able to see as well which don't come up and I would like to be able to see/rate/purchase them.

Not until someone gets the OS version ported. Reportedly, a few people are working on a Honeycomb rom for us to play with and once that gets done it probably won't be all that difficult to get the market working on it.

The official browser code name was called "Cloud9". Looking at what APK package dependencies are needed for self install on another Android device.
Nice. I would love to see this ported to say...the nexus s. The browser looks pretty nice on it.

I am actually trying to port the browser over to my Thunderbolt now. It needs some lib files moved over as well, not sure what else just yet.
I'll let you know if I get it to work, I'm kind of squeezing it into a complete ROM port though.
wouldnt doing something like this require a spoof on the amazon servers? being that they probably require authentication from the servers.
I had it working on my Thunderbolt, but now getting a crash and can't quite find the source, but I'm trying this on a half ported ROM I am working on so the environment may have something to do with it.
Here is what I have done so far if someone wants to try it or mess around with getting the browser to work on another android device. It may work as is due to how I was testing it.
EDIT : I tested this today and it works without crashing. But I think it needs some graphics work / resizing to be reasonable on a phone. But on another tablet...may be OK.

My wife just got the Kindle Fire yesterday, and from looking at everything I wish I had the time to root it and mess around with it, I don't see where it would be too bad to get a custom ROM going on this

I get an instant FC on my CM7 captivate with these, any ideas?
Hrm,
Am I the only one who thinks the silk browser works like anything but silk? I find slow and inconsistent.
But for what its worth I think you'd probably need to spoof a amazon ID for it to work properly.

No. You're not the only one...

To me it is obvious that the person has a pretty good broadband connection.. plus the results are misleading because if both are connecting to the same router , the router is doing round robin on the two devices and the delay between the two devices renders could be due to context swapping..
The true test of cloud should be on a low bandwidth network, which is when the fast pipe on the cloud could give u a advantage..

I agree, plus mine keeps shutting down and restarting. This was the death knell for me to get one for my hubby for X-mas. He'll be getting an Archos 80 under the tree.
I want this game
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spidweb.avadon&hl=en
It says my devices are not compatible so will not even show up in the market, even though it would probably run.
Is there a way for me to get purchase this? I can't buy it and backup from my phone since my phone doesn't meet the requirements either (I assume because my phone is 480x800 resolution.
I am actually not sure what is causing the game to appear as not compatible to my Fire but whatever.
I have AOKP installed on my Fire which I assumed would have the fix to trick the market but I'm not sure. Am I wrong in thinking that? I will install one of the other ICS roms if I must though I would prefer an easier route. The build.prop lists the device as an aokp_otter-userbug in the build description.
I'm not sure what to say. I'm running AOKP 35 and the play store says my device is compatible.
Which AOKP are you using?
Weird. I am using build 36...I think their latest. Maybe I'll try a different one then. It sounds like I should be able to get it to show up which I am happy about.
Thanks
Well I have flashed two different ics roms with compete wipes of everything and neither is compatible even though they have updated build.props. I'm out of ideas.
Woohoo, cm7 barebones hooked me up. I was finally able to see it in the market.
Hey guys, I wound up digging around wanting to add Google's Car Home app when I flashed a couple different ROMs and lost the similar app that came from Samsung. It wound up being pretty simple to do and it's been working great on my S3.
I wound up writing it up on my blog, you can find it here:
Manually Installing Google's Car Home App
The steps I wrote aren't necessarily specific to the S3. I had success with a few other Android devices too.
I haven't tried your version yet, but with previous versions on my VZW SGS3 Google Car Home loads and runs fine, but as soon as I customize it (add / remove apps), it no longer loads and FQs.
Have you noticed anything like this with your setup? Thanks!

No, I haven't noticed anything like this at all. That seems weird to me (although, I imagine there's a reason that Google doesn't list many devices as compatible in the Market).
I would recomend trying the version I've got out there and then also maybe installing it as a System App to see if that fixes your FQs?

I used TB to pull com.google.android.carhome.apk (v2.2.1) and com.google.android.cardock.apk (v2.2) off my Thunderbolt running 4.0.3 (I can't even remember what rom it's running now). After installing both to my GS3 (4.1.1 stock), Car Home seems to be working fine. Good thing, too, because all the alternatives in the play store suck.

Any way you could post those APKs?
Hey all. Recently Spotify released an update for both the tablet -version and the mobile version. Now you can play music for free on the mobile version but the only catch is, you can only play you playlists in shuffle. On the tablet version, it plays like it would on the desktop version.
What I want to know is, is there possibly a way to make spotify think our Note 2 is a tablet. Only other alternative I can think of is to change the build.prop but that seems a bit of a hassle to change and restart everytime you want to listen to music.
I've searched and have found no threads about this so I may be the only one wondering this as people have probably just tethered their tablets to their phone and have just done it that way.

Only thing I can think of is doing something with xposed. But they don't have any modules that fool apps into thinking that you are running a different device. They had it for google wallet, to make it think you were running something else to get it to work on different devices that weren't supported.
What that same method apply for Spotify?

Check that tread I posted, it seems we need some real pro to look into this
Is there one that anybody made for those of us on CM? I'd love to get Ouya Launcher and Store back, so far no other complaints about CM11 though...
Sorry, but what you're asking for doesn't exist. The Ouya stuff is way too tightly integrated into the stock ROM, and I doubt anyone is ever going to put forth the effort to rip it all out (if it's even possible at all). You're better off just waiting to see if the whole Ouya experience stuff will mean an installable Android app whenever it's released.

I have to agree with this too, the best bet would be to wait for an ouya provided "ouya experience" apk, and slip that in alongside Cyanogenmod.
