Does anyone know why a win xp computer would recognize the debugging mode, I'm rooted and the one click root worked fine, but not recognize my phone when in download mode? I have the drivers installed and java sdk installed. Every time I go to download mode and plug in I get a pop up (on computer) that my device is malfunctioning and the device manager says unknown device.
I know it's not the cables because I used my brothers laptop to flash eb13 from the froyo install tool before installing syndicate. But three computers including mine have failed with this same message.
I'm confused why this one lowly laptop that is nothing special worked fine and my computer along with the other 2 give me this "usb device malfunction try connecting device again, if fails replace device". Not an exact quote.
It's a long drive to my brothers, and I would like to use odin with out having to wait a couple days til I can drive out their. It's been putting a cramp in my rom flashing mojo. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have done a bit of searching and haven't found a solution yet, among,
Trying different usb cables
Every usb port tried
Have it in download mode and plugged in while booting computer, (doesn't
Give message just doesn't connect. Then unplug replug gives message.)
Every combo of debug, unknown source on/off
Java sdk installed
Try downloading the XP drivers from Samsung and installing them fresh. I had a similiar problem. My computer took almost 10 minutes to connect all drivers the first time with new drivers. Then Odin worked fine after that.
BONSAI 4 and loving it!
My sprint galaxy nexus is stuck on the phone to pc conection problem screen. I've tried all manner of button pushing to get to the Odin screen to no avail. Odin opens a com port to the phone but trying to flash anything causes Odin to stop working. ADB does not recognize the device. When I attach the phone the computer sees "Samsung USB Driver" in devices so it seems some communication is happening. I've tried all my different cables and usb ports including those that have worked before. Removing drivers via device manager and reinstalling different drivers did not work. Any ideas or links to appropriate threads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Quick update - after a helpful email from one of the JTAG services from ebay (nice guy by the way) I got the phone flashed then up and running.
I manually updated the "Samsung USB Device" with new drivers, used a different tar with a Md5 and Odin 3.04. I have a feeling the manual driver install did the trick but I'm not going back through that again to find out.
Hi, I recently tried using a stock image with odin for my galaxy tab pro 8.4. Odin started flashing but failed when sending system.img.
I tried this process twice and got the same result even using a different USB port in may computer and a different cable but, after the second try (and as the first one I disconnected the computer and restarted into download mode), the tablet usb stopped working.
When I connected it in my first two tries, I got the typical windows sound when you connect anything in the usb, now I dont get anything and not even in the device manager. I tried with another computer and got the same problem, no usb connected sound and nothing in device manager.
My device is now stuck in odin mode. If I try to reboot normally I get into download mode but with the message "Firmware upgrade encounterd an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again".
I have tried deleteing de drivers and installing kies but still nothing.
Can you help me please?
Nevermind

For anyone facing this, you have to wait for the tablet to run out of battery and then connect it again to the computer. It will be detected as before.
Hi all,
I am still on Android 4.3 and have previously rooted my device. Trying to connect on a Windows 8.1 PC.
Recently I did a factory reset and now I get errors when setting up - "Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped" - after the device name.
I am trying to unroot my device and upgrade to 4.4.2 but I cannot get the device recognised in download mode (power + volume down + home).
I have tried different USB cables, different ports and different PCs and the only difference is that all but one USB port shows the "device descriptor request failed" error in device manager. On one port I can see it when powered on and connected, and it is recognised in Kies and Odin. As soon as I put it in download mode I get an error and the device won't start and I get the "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" error.
I have nothing I need to get off the device, so am happy to try anything to get the device recognised so I can re-flash some firmware!
Any help would be most appreciated...
Thanks

Check make sure USB debugging is checked in Developer options and unknown sources in Security settings are checked.

Thanks buhohitr, I made sure they were checked and same errors.
I was wondering if it possible to load new firmware via the recovery menu? Like load the firmware onto sdcard or something?
Just trying to think of a way to flash firmware without a PC. I found a mobile Odin by Chainfire but this device is not supported.
Any thoughts?

in fact the device is still not yet recognized under twrp but does work under bootloader mode, it's just it's not adb connection but fastboot connection that i got confused
for anyone who have a similar problem, you might find it helpful in the following links that i tried before i realized my stupidness...
http://sciologness.com/download/903...-configuration-descriptor-request-failed.html
http://adbdriver.com/downloads/
http://developer.samsung.com/technical-doc/view.do?v=T000000117 // this is the samsung page, but after installation you might find in your usb driver compatibility list something like "samsung adb interface" and that might do the trick

hey guys,
i just followed this page to root my device
http://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-c/general/guide-unlock-bootloader-install-custom-t3307183
everything went fine until i flashed the xceed kernel.img for my stock rom...
and when booted into twrp and connect to pc meanwhile, the tablet it's not recognzied via usb anymore, and it says 'unknown usb device' error code 43. the tablet can either be rebooted into the system or recognized under the bootloader mode
i tried to install the google usb driver manually but it says
'This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)'
anyone please help
i don't think it's the problem of my cable or the connecting ports...
