Hi guys,
i am new right here and also with Desire HD. I just have it since 2 days.
Now, i have my first question:
I am organizing all my contact, grouped by categories, in Outlook 2003. This is working fine so far with HTC Sync and the Categories will be created as groups in my DHD:
BUT, there are still the "system default" groups like "friends", "family", and so on, which i don't need.
Now, i wanted to delete these groups, but i am not able. I only can delete my groups, created via sync.
Does anybody know how to get rid of these group?
Many thanks in advance
Henner
Sadly these are system groups and cannot be deleted.

What happened to that option from the G1 where you could choose only to sync contacts from a certain group. I don't want to see the hundreds of email contacts i have from random people that i replied to at some point in the last couple years. And I only want to see the contacts in a group I created for my phone.
Sense phones don't have that option in the Android 2.1 version, unfortunately. i've posted on the forums asking how to do it and they won't respond.
Are there any workarounds for this issue? I have 150+ contacts and would love to only sync my "Coworkers" and "Family" groups, for example.
The "Sync Groups" option sounds like exactly what I need on my EVO.
I too have been looking for this option.. I was very excited to find that I could selectively "sync groups" only to see that it is NOT available on the EVO. Anyone know of any specific ROMS that might bring this option back?
Hi
I'm using the stock desire 2.1 rom (update 1) with sense and am connecting to mty work's exchange server via active sync. However, I am unable to access any folders that I have created on the server other than the 'standard' list
deleted items
sent items
drafts
outbox
junk e-mail
sync issues
sync issues/conflicts
sync issues/local failures
sync issues/server failures
I do, however, have other folders that I have created for things like hotel/ train bookings and for keeping a record of online orders.
If I use the standard mail client and set the account to IMAP I can subscribe to the additional folders, but I need many of the features that come with activesync, so I was wondering if there is any way to get to see my additional folders when getting my mail via activesync?
Any help greatly appreciated.

With the default app "mail" i can see subdirectories in the same menu you see the original subdirectories.
We have Exchange 2010 if it helps.
hmmm... that's intereseting. Thank you for your reply. Will try to find out what version our exchange server is, but have just checked again and no sub folders other than those listed in my earlier post are visible
I don't quite understand where you said "other folders that I have created for things like hotel/ train bookings and for keeping a record of online orders" - what's different about these folders to the ones you can't see? Perhaps it's to do with at what 'level' you created them? (i.e., were the ones you can see sub-folders within the main mail folders and the others outside of them). I've got a few subfolders on mine (Exchange 2007) at the same 'level' in the tree as Inbox, Sent Items, etc. and I can see them fine on my Desire.

The list of folders that are in my mailbox shoud be as follows
inbox
deleted items
sent items
drafts
outbox
junk e-mail
sync issues
sync issues/conflicts
sync issues/local failures
sync issues/server failures
Holiday bookings (x)
Online orders (x)
Football tickets (x)
contacts
calendar
journal
notes
All of the folders are at the same level (i.e. they are not a sub folder of another folder). The ones marked (x) are ones created by me many years ago that I cannot see when I go to folders in exchange active sync.
However, If I set the account up as IMAP I can subscribe to all of these folders, but I obviously lose some of the features that I need from active sync.
Hope that does a better job of explaining it

Ah OK - I was getting confused as to whether you could/couldn't see these other folders The ones that I've created (e.g., 'Old Messages') are at the same level as the ones you marked with an x and they DO show up on mine. I'd love to hide the Sync Issues ones as they seem pretty pointless, but can't see a way of doing so. Is it worth trying to create a new folder and see if it shows up? (in case there's some problem when your data has perhaps been migrated across before) - at least if this worked you could just move the messages to the newly created folders. Also perhaps worth deleting the sync partnership on Outlook Web Access as well as on your Desire then recreating it?

Thank you very much for your reply.
Creating new folders on my PC at work then copying the material acrosss has worked perfectly whereas if I create the folders at home via outlook they don't show up. All very weird, but great that it got sorted in the end.
Thanks again for your kind help

Brilliant, glad to hear you go it sorted Spud!
I have asked this on general but nobody reply, so I'm gonna try it here.
I want to add contacts on a group. I was succesful to create the group and once inside I click to add member but when I type there name nothing happens, it doesn't search for it neither add. I tried with the existent group on the phone but still nothing.
Thank you!

Are the contacts you're trying to move stored on your phone or your gmail account? Because it won't work if your trying to move a 'gmail contact' into a 'phone group' (if you get what I am trying to say).
If your contacts are stored on your gmail account, you can always get on gmail and organize them from the web interface, putting them in whatever groups you want.
Ohh I understand, so the contacs has to be saved on the phone so it can appears.
Thanks!

I have been googling for a while trying to find this, but I haven't found a Jelly Bean compatible solution. It seems to have existed back in Éclair or Donut, but I didn't use it if it did and I'm too lazy to go boot up an old phone to check.
What I'm trying to do is only sync certain contact groups from Gmail to my phone (running CM10). I am well aware that you can display only certain groups in the Contacts, but that still keeps them synced to the phone, so they'll show up in contact auto-complete for email, testing, search, etc.
The reason I am trying to do this is because I teach university classes (we use Google Apps for the school email), and I make separate contact groups for each class section I teach, then one for faculty and staff. I keep old groups around in case I ever need them, but I don't really want to keep them synced with my phone. I really just want to sync whichever groups I'm teaching this semester and the faculty group. I could easily remove the old groups from the My Contacts group if there's a way just to sync that, but I haven't found it if it exists.
Anyone know a way to do this? I'd be super appreciative!

Hello, first post although i have used the site often, hopefully i haven't missed this in a search if it was already posted.
I have an AT&T SGS3 (i747) which i recently flashed with beanstalk and had flashed with a stock Rom with injected root. The problem i am having is its creating duplicate contact groups (friends and family are duplicated) after syncing with gmail's contacts. I cannot remove the duplicate empty groups (i think these are default built in groups) but i can delete the groups that are populated, which of course i don't want to do.
this also happened on my old Infuse (flashed with cm-10.2-20130830-UNOFFICIAL-infuse4g.zip). I manually, one by one, added all my contacts to gmail and created several groups but only the friends and family groups get duplicated. i guess its not syncing the contacts to the default groups of the same name actually.
When i first bought the phone and setup my google account in store the contacts synced perfectly, only after flashing beanstalk (BeanStalk-4.3.1001-20131002-d2att.zip and of course gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip also flashed along with beanstalk) did i run into this issue. Its not a big deal but it gets old and time consuming to move contacts from the synced group to the default group and deleting the old groups every time i flash and update or new Rom. Also is there any app that has the "briefing" option on the clock alarms like the stock rom did that anyone happens to know about?
feel free to ask if you need any more details and thanks in advance for any and all help.
