I don't like the htc camera app, I would prefer to use the regular camera app that comes on CM7 rom, Is there a way to install this on my DHD, I would run CM7 but it doesn't work right on our telus DHD's to many sound issues.
Why don't you like the HTC Camera app? I think the CM7 camera app takes very bad pictures and lacks function...
And there is a kernel which has the fix for telus desire hd / inspire 4G ace devices. I tried CM7 today and I just like sense too much.
The latest CM7 nightly has no audio video issues and is fully compatible now.
camera app
I find it slower then the regular camera app, the sound thing is kinda fixed still really sounds really tinny though with the new kernel.
HTC has the better camera app :O)

Pure Google Android against HTC Widget UI
I was a long time Sense UI fan, then out of curiosity and love towards Google i tried the OpenDesire project by Adam and i like very much the speed and beauty of everything.
What bothered me though was the lack of some settings in camera/videocamera. No touch to focus during video especially.
Today i tried one last test, to see who will win my heart and my Desire over.
THIS is the OpenDesire 4.0.4 shot by video.
Wiped, flashed the AuraxTSense 7.6.1 version (contrary to the title in the actual video) and shot THIS video.
Do you agree that the video by OD is far better and smooth? Only if there was that darn touch to autofocus. Maybe even DURING the shooting?
As for me, i'm nandroidRestoring my way back to OpenDesire.
Thanks for reading!
Says that the video's are private...
yeah, cannot view the videos
I forgot to change the settings.. Will do.. Check in a minute..

shooting videos is 1 thing..being able to view them decently is another..if i had the sense music player , video player, gallery, radio app, camera functions, video functions pretty widgets that exist in sense, i would go od in a heartbeat..but nope..noway..even the keyboard has to be changed to b fanctional for my language..
I've done this test many, many times.
AOSP roms with Nexus One cyanogen ported camera (like cyanogenmod, defrost and opendesire too) have the advantage of a lower datarate (6Mbit vs 7.5Mbit) which is easier on the microsd and also sometimes of a better auto-iso management especially in not-so-ideal lighting. On the other hand I think the camera app is crap in itself and lacks autofocus badly.
If you have a fast enough microsd and adjust a bit the iso on HTC Sense, you will end up probably with equal or better results.
Oh and by the way, I can't stand stock android lack of polish
is it the best for desire? i just installed it on cyanogen 7.. it seems faster but is it really the best camera?
Hi there.
Can you tell me how exactly is the MIUI camera faster? Faster than the stock sense one or the CM7 one? Also, are you able to record video in 720p?
Apart from that i would also be interested what alternative cameras are available for the desire and happen to work on aosp roms
nopes cannot record in 720p.. it seems to take photos faster than cm7.. dunno for sense camera.. haven't noticed
Is there a fast enough camera app that produse decent quality photos to be used as the default in CM7? I like d default in sence rom. Is there a similar app to be used in cm7?
Vignate, HLR Cam and all others i tried are slow. The faster cam apps produce poor quality photos.

I have tried camera360 and vignette, as they were the best camera apps they told me. Both take about 10 seconds to process a photo though which annoyed me, and imo the quality was not even better than the stock cyanogenmod app.
So I keep using the stock one, which can also make videos (as many camera apps can't). Try using a different theme that changes the layout of the stock app a little. It still looks like ****, but at least a bit better

Click to collapse
on page 3 it is posted "With default parameters aosp stock camera beats miui in terms of sharpness and focusing."
Also I read about problems uninstalling it, so I haven't tried it myself...
I'm using MIUI Camera, pretty solid and good.
I've been on the camera hunting too. The ONLY app which satisfied me (and reminded me of the features my previous phone -n95- had) was Camera Advance But on the CM7Nightlies at least, the app produces a black screen when taking photos, rendering the camera useless untill you reboot the device. The dev knows about it, but it has been months since the last update.
But it's worth the try if you ask me. Photo quality is awesome.
Hey guys,
I'm currently running cyanogen mod 10 on my hox, but a few apps I miss from stock, such as the camera app.
The cm10 camera really blows. Lacks sharpness, a bit auto focus and I really miss the camera effects.
Is there any way to gt the camera back, including the quality of sharpness and such?
this is also for other stock apps; if I can get it back on cyanogen mod 10
No.
Ok, yes; install a Sense ROM.
Hey Guys,
I was wondering.. Can I get better image capture quality on CyanogenMod 10 with the default (or by mod; app), because standard sucks compared what I had when on completely stock..
I won't switch to a Sense rom since I yet, don't see what are the pros versus Cyanogen.. (any comparison thread/chart?)
Thanks in advance!
Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Is there any developement on some non-Sense camera mods? I know the sense framework is required to run the sense camera, but are someone looking for a workaround?
I see my AOKP's got super as an option in the jpeg compression, but it isn't quite as good as the stock camera...
You can always try desensed ROMS that have the possibility to remove some of the HTC stuff
