Droid incredible losing 3g connection - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, for about 3 weeks now, my phone will disconnect from 3g data and then play a notification tone (same one as my message tone), it won't come back until I turn it back on with SMODA widget, in fact it just did it again while writing this... any one have any ideas?

its a question that i have been waiting for.
seems like any push data is affected because the app shuts down data to save battery.
I know you can set it so it switches on for a 1min every 15mins but if you have GTalk or constant emails being pushed, it means you wont get them until the app switches the data back on to reteive the emails/messages.
this is my understanding on how this app works.
if there is a program that auto switches ur phone to 2G when idle or screen is off, then i think this is a better solution.
This one does turn on when your screen does lol..
But earlier it stopped my data working even with screen on, i had to go into settings and disable then re enable and it worked! maybe it was cus i was at work and it tried to connect when i had no signal.. i dunno
Re: juicedefender
it's a known problem and the developer is working on a fix. I won't be using it until it is

Is it? Whats the fix? Just turning it off and back on? Because disabling JD didnt work..

This happened to me yesterday as well. Only way I could get mobile internet back again was to reboot
Hi,
I installed JuiceDefender two days ago. Since then, I have had wifi problems. I can't be 100% sure that they are caused by JD, but I had no wifi problems before that, using several different networks.
My phone is SE Xperia X10, but I understand that the app works the same way on both phones.
The problem is:
When wifi is enabled, it takes several seconds to enter the "wireless networks" menu in settings. It then takes 20 seconds entering the "wireless settings" menu. During this period, the screen goes black. Sometimes, I get a message that the wifi app has crashed. Also: When I connect to a network, it works fine for 1-5 minutes, but after a while the phone does not seem to receive any data, even though it says "connected". The same wifi network works perfectly on my computer.
I have tried rebooting the phone, uninstalling/reinstalling JuiceDefender, etc.
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this? Any hints on how to solve the problem?
Re: juicedefender
happened again today with mobile data at work, it turned it self off. does the developer know about the bug?

I think I might just keep charging mine but leave juice installed because I like the push notifications so ill disable juice for now!

Juicedefender is not in market anymore.
I bought this a few days ago and it has been working great but i was just prompted to update to the latest beta and nows things are not running too good.....may need to disable for a while.
uninstalled mine. just cause i wasnt getting good internet at work. seems better now. still a good app in theory. better than anything winmo had to offer.
Ive left it on but dont use it anymore.. Battery seems to have improved anyway
Re: juicedefender
the developer has released a beta to try and fix the issues. looks like the different carriers are causing problems with resuming the apn connection
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
Gotta say, seems to be working without an issue on my phone
One thing i would like to know tho is that i can see the settings to change the rules for activation of wifi and apn but i would like to set these to 1m every 30mins rather than 15mins, is this possible ?
I only seem to change it to 2m for every half hour...seems to defeat the pont in changing it...What have i missed ?
It's absolutely helped my battery life. I think it's just about doubled it overall. I haven't bought the full version yet but I do intend to. Not because I want the extra features, but to support the work done on the free version - superb!

[Q]ring lag

Ok so i noticed on my evo 4g that if i call my evo i fear it ring about 4 times before the evo actually starts ringing. Is there a way to keep that from happening

Update radio and profile and prl if not rooted
Or flash the latest radios if rooted

Is the ring tone from your sd card? If you're rooted you could put it in the internal. might make it ring faster.
And in the sound file, does the ringtone start right away or is there silence before it?
I have noticed this as well. The strange thing is that it seems to depend on what type and service provider call made to you. If I get a call from another cell provider it seems to lag more than a call from another sprint cell phone. And it also seems to lag badly from landline phones.
I just figured this was due to cell towers and how they work. Maybe handoff from one technology to another (GSM to CDMA, etc). But if changing ringtones, type, and location helps or some other solution -- I think a lot of people would be interested.
Sprints network is at fault for that. Anytime I called my EVO from my landline, it would take at least two to three rings sometimes 4 for the phone to ring regardless of prl and radio. But when I flash the 00001 epic prl which uses verizons network, its in 1 ring. But that prl makes you roam all the time so I only suggest that prl when traveling to an area with poor sprint reception. Now that I have Verizon, its within 1-2 rings everytime

No msgs/calls

Ok im having a constant problem with my note 2 . It seems to me that when im at work I am not recieving my msgs or calls when I am on full bars 4g, I only sonetimes get my emails. But today I got home and I automatically received all my missed msgs and voicemails on wifi . Is this normal because its annoying its been happening the last few days . Let me know what you think .

Were you on the phone for a long time (1hour+) before that happened?
I think there may be a really big bug on the note 2. But it has to be triggered.
To trigger the bug: talk on the phone for 1 hour and 15 minutes or longer. After you hang up, it's like the radio is dead. You will not receive any calls. All calls will go straight to voicemail. To get the radio back, you have to reboot or toggle airplane mode.

The sad part I was not on the phone at all. It was in my pocket the whole time but I constantly kept checking the time thats how I know I had 4g full bars. To be safe im walking in to tmobile and ask to replace my sim card see if thats the problem .

I had that problem with my note. I just called tmobile and they reseted the network and everything was good

I get this problem every now and then at work. when i went into a t-mobile store they said they were working on the towers in the area
I went through this problem for almost a month straight. I tried everything I could think of. Using wifi calling, factory reset, wakelock apps to prevent sleeping, calling tmobile to reset stuff on their end. Nothing worked. I flashed back to stock and did an exchange. Its been 5 days and no problems.
I was getting no missed call notifications but a voice mail would show up. Then upon sending a text I would get flooded with all the missed texts/voice mails. This happened when I was stock originally and after I flashed jedi x7. For the few days that i was back to stock and got the OTA the phone worked fine but I didn't want to take chances.

SMS Issues since Lollipop update

Has anyone been having delayed text messages being sent and received since the update? My wife has been having this issue with her M8. It's been intermittent but it happens almost every day to her.

I have also been having this issue. Sometimes a text message takes an hour or more for me to receive it or my recipient to receive it, other times I'll receive up to 4 of the same message in quick succession. It mostly happens when I have Wi-Fi calling enabled, as text messages don't seem to play well with it. For some reason, it completely disables the cellular radio instead of working in conjunction with it. Drives me crazy.
My wife's phone has wifi calling enabled but had cellular as the preferred connection method, so it would only switch to wifi calling if there was absolutely no signal. So I don't think in her case wifi calling was the issue. I completely turned it off just in case tho. I'm having her try another messaging app just to see (Google Messenger vs. HTC stock), but I don't think that's the problem.

Also remember that the only app that can send mms messages over wifi calling is the delivered one that comes with the phone. Any 3rd party apps (like handcent, chompsms, etc) will not be able to send mms messages over wifi calling.
Hi, I had the same problem plus mms would be sent nor downloaded. I was using the messenger google app though, switched back to stock message app and it resolved the issue

I called T-Mobile and they had me clear the cache from the Messaging app, and then reset the APNs back to default. So far so good... Everything started working.

I spoke too soon. She's still having the same problem. Reboots always fix it, but it's getting annoying. Guess next step is a factory reset. :what:

while related but unrelated, I had to do a factory reset after the lollipop update b/c my wifi was having issues that seemed random.

I don't think she's had any issues with wifi but i'm not really sure. I know yesterday I was trying to back up her phone preparing to wipe it and I saw the wifi would go out then come back on. I was about 10 feet from the router and everything else on wifi was holding steady except for the phone. Is that similar to the issues you were having?

My issue was that the wifi would connect and then drop then connect. Also some wifi AP, it would work great. To me it was just inconsistent, so I figured in for a penny in for a pound and just wiped the phone. That worked for me, but it if didn't I was planning on re-installing TWRP and some custom ROM as my bootloader was unlocked (but I was still s-on).

Any further solutions to this problem of intermittent delayed text messages? I now have 5.1.1, and use Hangouts. I also sometimes don't get calls either, it's like the cell antenna just turns off.
From what I remember a hard reset fixed the problem for my wife's phone.

Not getting any notifications on wifi

Whenever my phone is sitting on WiFi I don't get any notifications. Email, texts and other apps don't notify me. As soon as I turn off WiFi or go out of range and connect to 3g or 4g I immediately get all my missed notifications.
It seems that the issue is while the screen is off. When it's on I do get messages and notifications.
Anybody else have this issue or know how to troubleshoot it?
I've tried while completely stock, stock rooted, custom roms, custom kernels... Everything. Any ideas?
Thanks!
