trinity-genocide 1.2 - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

im posting this here because i cant post it on the development form. I downloaded the new kernel but my "about phone" still says dk28 when i saw that the one says the eb13, why?? sorry for posting this on here i just cant post in the other one yet

As of now, flashing the kernel will not show any difference of identity with your about phone menu. I believe the developer will incorporate a build name to reflect the change.

ok so i changed my mind...im allowed right?
the download for 0.2a in the OP now has the stuff to show up in about phone...before there are any other questions about it:
About Phone>Firmware version is the ONLY difference between the new and old 0.2a so it is NOT required to update unless you just want to see it in about phone.

For some reason all posts relating to it on here are deleted.....
I ended up finding his posts with files on another forum via Google search.
I've asked why the deletion here and have yet to get an answer.

If you use any of the custom roms you'll have no CIQ (obviously as long as they mention they do). Changing the modem shouldn't affect it as far as I know.
He said he will repost the download link in his original post soon. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286783

Yep, he's absolutely right! I just flashed the noCIQ zip 2 days ago by Googling the name of the zip and the developer. The zip and tar both came up.

download a rom that has it included
I don't want to download a ROM. I prefer to stay stock. I flashed the e4gt-nociq-signed zip not sure if it worked. the thread said something about over scroll but I'm not sure what that is. Is there a way to check if it worked or not?

[Q] System update?

I am rooted with Mortify ROM right now, but I keep getting a system update message. It only gives me the options to install it now or later. Will this screw up my phone, cause it is working fantastic for once and I don't want to have to go through a whole mess to make it work again.
TIA
It won't screw it up. It will fail, and then you will do a battery pull and restart it. It will, however, continue to pop up several times a week until you use the search to find the permanent solution.
(Hint: its several posts down and titled something like "running clean GB and prompted to update to FC09).

The permanent fix is to modify your build.prop to reflect you have fc09 instead of fb15 fc09 is the latest ota that's why your getting that notification. I will link you the how to. But to do it you use terminal emulator and follow the commands.

even if you dont upgrade your android version, you still might want to think about updating your modem via odin.

flastnotes, the problem is that, alot of threads on this site are scattered all over the place. so for a new persion to figure out how to find a specific thread or so, is actually kind of difficult.

When I first signed up at xda you didn't see me posting the same things over and over again... whether its general or development, you should still search... if you have a question, I can almost guarantee you it has been asked/answered already! [Q] update el30 to fc09?

Just got my new epic a couple hrs ago. Last one broke.
Rooted and flashed cleangb on to it.
Got a popup a couple minutes ago asking if i wanted to update mr7 from el30 to fc09.
Should i? Will it mess with the rom?
Shame on you should know better than to post questions in general LOL. If you want to stay on clean GB then you will have to modify your build.prop to stop the update. Otherwise flash an FC09 rom.

Thanks a ton.
I'm in the same boat. But, I have cleangb MTD. I gave my phone to my son after I picked up an ARRIVE WP7.5 to try out. He told me he got a prompt to update. I have been looking for info. Is it worth upgrading to? And is there a link that will give me more info and what's needed to update? Thanks
You cannot update on a custom ROM. You can flash an FC09 ROM. There are a bunch in the Development forum. You can also edit the build.prop file to stop the update notification.

OK, thanks. Are there any links to the what's included in the new update? Thanks in advance.
On Sprint.com if you can navigate through their crappy website to the "update firmware on you samsung epic" page it will list the features of FC09.

The only thing really new from el30 to fc09 is the "optimizer" (sprints version of juice defender....)
If u want to stop the pop up, just allow the update to proceed, let it fail, pull battery, then reboot ur phone. That's it

That will only stop it for a little... you must edit the build.prop for it to never return...

Ok now I'm all garbled. If off topic is the topic, then my being off topic is really being on topic meaning that it doesn't belong here because this is solely for off topic.
It would have been easier and less confusing to call it general discussion or something like that.

Try these steps outlined by Clark. I haven't used the app though.
Open the Wifi Tether App
2. Press Menu
3. Press Settings
4. Choose "Change Device-Profile"
5. Choose "Samsung Galaxy Nexus (CDMA/LTE)"
6. Press Back twice to return to inital app screen
7. Press the huge WiFi Signal icon
8. Allow Superuser Permissions
9. Start Tethering

[Q] Dedicated back to stock thread

I can put together a how to on " get back to stock firmware" on our att note 2 with files links attached.
If you guys agree that we need one for new and current users.
Yes please. ..
We "DO" need a thread that is dedicated to the R.T.S.
A great idea, and thank you. ...g

Wouldn't you just put the phone into download mode and flash the stock image back to the phone in Odin?
IIRC it even replaces the stock recovery/kernel and un-roots the device too.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
I will work on it. You guys should see something by next week.
