Stock-like G2 ROM? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently using the Villison ROM but want to revert back to a stock ROM. I have a Tmobile G2.
I want to remain rooted when I revert back. I want to have the latest radio and a stable ROM.
I am currently rooted via rage. I assume I need to gfree before I go to a stock ROM?
And which ROM is the latest that I could use with the Tmobile carrier? Or is there a stock-like ROM which generally remains stock with root/OC kernel available?
Thanks for the help.

You this is dev not general questions. This will be closed.Surprises it's not yet. You need to read.
If you are already rooted you don't need to root again. Just flash a stock rom. You should have your own stock rom backed up so you can always revert back to stock when you can!

Utterly Confused on how to Get EC05

Ok All I am getting really confused.
I want to update to the latest froyo and keep my root.
I would also like the latest radio, this all seems pretty damn easy however I read all these different ways but only if you have this version rom or radio, etc.
Do I need to use Odin to flash one of the many files I have found.
Do I use clockwork?
What about the radio, I have an old DK17 one.
This is my setup now:
Unlocked Epic
Froyo 2.2.1 - Epic Experience
radio - DK17
Hardware revision is 5
At this point I am willing to donate to get an answer,
Thx,
Force
Best bet is to post in the general section or Q&A next time, posting in development is a nono and will really only serve to get you flamed.
All custom ROMs available right now are based on EC05 so just flash one of them.

I am having a hard time finding a good custom rom that is based on this. I have a new custom rom loaded now and its not.
Also this still leaves the radio and how to update it.
Sorry about posting here, I didn't think this was a general topic as it deals with flashing & roms. But move it if necessary
Thx,
Force

Syndicate ROM Frozen by ACS is always a good decision. As for the modem update, it is either included in the ROM or you can find a flashable zip for it. I'm on the phone so I can't grab
a link for you, but I know it's around.
EDIT: found it, flash this with Odin and it will update your modem only.

[Q] help for a newbie? :)

i have an evo that i bought when the op sys was still at 2.1. i rooted with unrevoked...no problems. i have recently decided to upgrade to a newer version of froyo, however i am not sure how to proceed.
last night, i installed unrevoked-forever, and now i need instructions on what rom to upgrade to and still keep root. i've browsed the forums, but it's all greek to me. i know how to flash a rom, and am fairly comfortable with doing that part of the procedure. i just want to upgrade the op sys to be able to take advantage of some of the new features that aren't present in 2.1, and NOT LOSE ROOT, as i use my tether often.
can anyone please guide a sistah on the right path?
If this doesnt help you I don't know what will lol

If you're looking to stay stock rooted try flashing the sprint lovers rom 2.2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830153
Download the "odexed" version of the rom from here. You will have the latest Froyo version as well as maintain root.

if i were you, i'd try a custom rom. not just a rooted stock one. try myn's warm twopointtwo if you want a nice, smooth, fast, themed, stock-like experiance.
Try a sense rom like koni elite series 3 with a netarchy kernel then when ur used to.custom rom try a aosp I suggest destroyer v2 rom.or end of days

[Q] Stock google roms

Sorry if this is a noob question but I did quite a bit of searching and could not find anything.
Is it possible to install stock google roms on a DZ? I would really like to install the latest version then have it update itself by OTA. My phone is rooted and currently running Cyanogen Mod 7.1.
Thanks!
Id stick with cm7 from my personal experience its close to stock android Rome and it runs remarkably well

Yes, it is possible to run stock android roms on a DZ, there are several different variants out there right now. Just for example there's virtuous g-lite (look in the dev section or on virtuous' homepage) which is currently on version 2.3.5 I believe. A more up-to-date rom seems to be this one: 2.3.7 (please read the op, some issues still remain).
Though, as far as I know, you will not be able to receive OTAs as these are pushed to your phone by your carrier. If you want to receive OTAs on a DZ you will have to revert back to a stock sense rom.
Any ROM that works on the G2 works on the Desire Z (as long as you are rooted and S-Off, which you obviously are if you are on CM7). So if you want, just go to the Developement section and you will find pre-rooted versions of the G2 AOSP ("stock Google") ROMs. But make sure the ROM is pre-rooted. If you install an "official" ROM that is not pre-rooted, you will lose root, and need to go through the whole process again.

Go back to Stock ROM

I'm wanting to go back to a stock Rom without loosing root. Can i flash the newest GB 2.3.5 without any issues located here --> (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1455340).
If not, where can i find a good stock ROM with root with the latest updates, and the ability to flash kernels as well.
Thanks in Advance

Hey, you can flash that if you would like, it will bring you back to the latest sense OTA and you will still have root! Just please make sure to use the first links and not the one of the bottom that says unrooted and you will be all set! Rooted and the latest stock and life is good!
I do personally like brad's roms he does a great job, but you might want to look into this too! I have been running it for a few weeks and it works simply amazing smooth light to install plenty of memory and no issues.

[REQ] Stock ROOTED Gingerbread ROM

Hi folks,
could someone pls upload a ROOTED version of the stock Gingerbread ROM for Desire? Its version 3.14.405.1. Please just stock and rooted, so without any modifications or add-ons. I want to keep my phone stock, but rooted
I was searching the development section and the Desire ROM Index Thread, but all links are dead
Thanx in advance!
/sorry if this is the wrong section, but I did not wanted to spam the development thread/
Your request is weird, if you want a rooted stock firmware, just install the stock firmware then go root.
got it!

CLOSE!
If only XDA had a search function. Man, that would spare us sooooooooo many useless threads. Shall we petition the Admin for it?
Why would anyone use stock ROM, without a2sd / data2ext /etc scripts, as internal memory is sooo small? If you want stock with mentioned script included, I recommend Supernova: http://supernova.droidzone.in/ I was very happy with it, have upgraded to ICS though.
