Update – HTC Desire Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) update
In our commitment to providing you with the best user experience, we are pushing out a new firmware update to your phone. Your phone will receive a notification of this update when it is made available. Simply press OK to accept the update via a data connection such as Wi-Fi or GPRS/3G. After installing the update, you can confirm a successful update by confirming the Software Number (From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software information> Software number). The new software number after the update will be 1.15.405.4 for an HTC phone.
1.15.110.11 on T-Mobile
Note: We recommend using a free Wi-Fi hotspot or an unlimited data plan to apply this update. If not, standard data connection charges may apply. For any questions, please contact us at http://www.htc.com/www/CA_Hotline.aspx
well just checked my device and its already installed. 2 options or it was pre-installed on my device or auto installed.
quite old I suppose, since I bought it here in Italy the past week and it came with such firmware.
Oh, should you guess if it enables 720p video, no, it doesn't.
I checked my software number 1.15.61.10, i ran the sytem software update and it told me there are no updates...
More in this older thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=660642
has anyone else other than T Mobile users recieved the update?
Generic devices got it last week.
T-Mobile got it this week.
Orange phones will get it in the next few days..
Just be patient.....FOTA updates do not all come at once.
Really? I thought everybody would get it at the same time... crashing all the networks.
I was hoping this update is for the DIVX support.. link to the article:
http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2010...ceive-divx-playback-support-in-future-update/
Copied from mobiletechworld:
I had the chance to talk to HTC a couple of hours ago during their local HTC Legend/Desire/HD Mini presentation. There was obviously nothing new to learn (especially since I already got some hands-on action last week at the MWC). The only new piece of info I got was about the rumored DivX playback and 720P encoding capabilities of the HTC Desire (aka HTC Bravo). The answer I got was that DivX support will be added in a future update (they didn’t say much about 720P support but from the way it sounded it should be coming in the same update) because they didn’t have time to finalise the feature before launching the handset.
Im dubious if orange are going to release this update and add there rubbish to it.
I upgraded my ROM on my HTC Touch HD from the HTC website, the ROM was a orange only ROM..
Lets just say it was more of a downgrade than upgrade...my original ROM had no orange branding or software, i believe that the new ROM sim locked my phone...
old, t-mobile ships their devices already with the .11 software
I just tried to check for updates for my desire (unrooted) and I saw that I can update to 1.21.405.2.
UPDATE:
It seems that the update is only available for the EU unbranded roms.
Changes reported:
- Updates bootloader to 0.80
- New radio image
- New youtube app with HQ option (1.6.20E).
- Fixed htc's weather widget (integrated into clock&weather widget) not knowing where you are (1.15.xxx just said the name of the country in some countries).
- SMS issue (from non-numerical senders) is resolved.
- fixed random contact showing when receiving operator SMS.
- fixes the voicemail bug for the French carrier SFR (short voicemail number used to call 911/emergency).
- Messages app now shows a count on the number of messages in the SMS inbox.
- calendar/contacts bug - unable to store contact's birthday - has been fixed.
- Long click on the menu button when in home screen now doesnt pop up the keyboard, like it uselessly did before.
- SMS reader does not show the little smiley androids any more - just the mere types.
- Exchange Company Address Book is now properly working. Was unable to use before the update.
- They have disabled the snooze function on the Optical trackpad for calendar events. This means that it is now possible to have the phone in your pocket without accidentally snoozing the alarms.
Known issues:
- OTA update on debranded/rooted roms resolves in wifi not working - debranded may be specific for orange.
- Doesnt fully charge for the first couple of times, probably a calibiration thing, it's ok after 3-5 charges.
OOO thats new I checked this morning and it wasn't there.
this is an up date for HTC Applications, well thats what it says.
27.2 mb can't be a big deal.
I'm on it now, seems fine...the MCR custom ROMs are based on it but I got bored of them so went stock
Updating to 1.21.405.2 changes your bootloader to 0.80 and currently it is unavailable to downgrade back to 0.75.
This means that if you ever want to run an RUU to revert back to stock you won't be able to since that requires a 0.75 bootloader.
You can get the stock 1.21.405.2 ROM from my sig so you can go back whenever needed...you just cant go back to 1.15.405.4
well atleast this shows progress at the HTC camp. Real question is whether this is it, or is it work around the 2.2 update?
Where can i find what differneces are on this update.
Can i still root my desire if i want to after this update?

This rom has been out for quite some time now. Small little patches are hardly anything compared to moving up an entire OS revision.

Yes but you'll need to use the 0.80 method.

How long is that? If this is how long it takes HTC to port their UI onto a new build of the SAME OS it's not looking good.
It was posted in ROM Dev about 3 weeks ago now, maybe longer...
EDIT: 19th May
Wonder if O2 users will get an update.. I'm feeling left out
Im on o2, too. Hope they will get this update soon.
Not that its a big thing... but it would make me feel optimistic for future updates (2.2?) if theyd get this done quickly...
the O2 Desire is pretty much brand new so won't have an update yet - it's going to be HTC bringing the other units up to speed...
so what is this update???? Anyone

Minor fixes. New radio image. New youtube app with HQ option (with a widget that doesn't work if you're logged in to your account). New bootloader. Fixed Facebook/unknown contact issue (haven't verified this personally).
I flashed the rom from the dev forum a couple of days ago, but haven't noticed any other changes yet.
The news widget still doesn't update automatically.

thanks hope froyo's next..
edit: i think speaker is also louder ... though it may just be me
I get the HQ option in the Youtube app when logged in to my account
Ah well...that will teach me to be fast.
Updated via 3G at work. Got home and just realised my Wifi no longer works. Refuses to start after the update. Tried several reboots...nothing.
It doesn't even TRY to start, as soon as you select the check box to enable Wifi it instantly says "Unable to start Wi-Fi"
This sucks.
Re: updating to 1.21.405.2, should I?
Just updated, and I can now see Google earth in the market place, perhaps just simple coincidence

Hi Guys!
I have the australian Desire because of the 850MHz 3G frequency needed in my country. I upgraded to froyo (not rooted device) "in the air" and got this:
- Android 2.2 version;
- 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20 baseband version;
- 2.6.32.14-gf9c0527 kernel version;
- 2.09.405.8 CL218634 release-keys;
- 2.09.405.8 software version;
- wbekit 3.1 browser version.
Besides the sometimes poor reception of the radio I´m also having notifications problems:
1- The phone, when in vibrate mode, doesn´t receive calls, the phone do not vibrate at all going to "not available" for the person who calls me and a missed call symbol appears on the notification area.
2- The phone do not ring at all in normal mode and a missed call symbol appears on the notification area.
3- SMS messages do not ring and/or vibrate when in normal/vibrate modes, specially when the threaded messages are opened.
This problems occours randomly, sometimes occours and sometimes not.
Is there anyone also having this?
Thank you all!
Are you locked to Telstra? I didn't think they had upgraded to Froyo yet, because I've got one, and just checked.
Anyway, I've rooted the device (using Unrevoked) and installed OpenDesire on it, and don't have any of the problems you're having. However, if you don't want to void your warranty, I can see the reasons for not wanting to root/flash your phone.

No, I´m not locked to Telstra. When I bought it on eBay I did simply put my chip from Vivo on it and started talking. I do not care about warantie, I just like the HTC widgets and messages, email, dialer and other stuffs and don´t want to have an instable OS, or a modifyed one with icons and stuffs that don´t have the "factory default appearance", got it?
But I have not discarted rooting my device...
Is your from Telstra too? Was it locked?
Thanks!
Australian Desire in Brazil
cristianomc,
I'm no expert, but since you updated your desire 'over the air' I wonder if you have firmware from your mobile carrier that is incompatible with the telstra firmware that was on the telstra branded desire?
Telstra Froyo updates are not out yet, but should be in a week or two.
These would be available 'over the air' in Australia, but perhaps they would also be available online from HTC or telstra.
HTC had a telstra update some months ago for the desire and posted it here : www*htc*com/au/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=941&news_id=640
Perhaps you should check this page in a week or so and see if the Telstra 2.2 update is there for download and try insalling that over the top?
Alternatively, since you haven't "rooted" your phone, but just used an incompatible 'over the air' updtate in Brazil, e-mail htc support, and they may be able to help?
Good luck,
Richard

at 2200 gtm tonight i got a update message on my hd7 nothing strange in that you might think but hang on i forced the update last night using the chevron7 updater hand had nodo on my device
ive just updated my hd7 with the official update now so it looks like the m$ scare mongering was all a bluff so has any one else had this update message from there carrier i think its interesting that the the update notification came through after id forced and applied the update
the os version is 7.07390.0 and it has copy and paste
I forced the nodo update unofficially a couple of days ago. Last night I got an "official" notification of an HTC update for my phone (Mozart on Orange, UK) which I'm applying now over the top...
Hey everybody,
I have an LG optimus 7 on TELUS that is running the leaked RTM. I just checked, and now the update is available. It was unclear if the leaked RTM would update. before i hit the go button.
anything i should do?
fiddler2 or something for cabs.... im not sure but want to make sure i giv devs a chance to get anything they might want.. im not sure how to do this on my own, im great at following directions tho.
*edit*
its called "LG update for windows phone" Im not really sure which update this is. because i don't remember it
*edit*
saved my fiddler2 session if anyone wants it. update went fine. i dont really notice any changes?
I got the same notification of an HTC update for Windows Phone....
I tried to update but got the error code 801811A3
I'm going to uninstall zune and try a fresh install.
Edit: HD7 on Tmobile - Leaked RTM
Edit 2: It's our firewall at work. Go figure. Time to find a workaround for this.
Also, the release page from microsoft for the mango 7.5 release is updated to deploying on all carriers today.
I got thesame for HTC. Mine succeeded and now does not show any further updates... I have checked but... I don't see a difference on my phone...
For those with the Arrive... on the ABOUT option, before the update... is there any information on the "help contacts" part for SPRINT?
Just wondering if this information was there with the leaked RTM...
I have RTM, just got the update notification aswell.
Zune is at stp 6 out of 10 atm.
It failed to reconnect at step 6, so I unplugge the phone and rebooted it, zhile the HTC screen showed I connected the USB cable and it resumed
well.. im not sure if im doing this at all right. installed fiddler2. its running
and im doing the update. so far so good 7 of 10. creating backup.
im guessing everyone who posted so far is carrier unlocked?
maybe be the reason we are seeing the update. even tho we have leaked mango.
almost done, phone is restarting.
Had 7720.68 Leaked RTM, upgraded to Mango carrier release fine.... No issues (besides losing 3G service)
And Walsh tweeted it
Caught it on the web and I immediately took my fedora hdd out of my systems an popped in my win7
I also had the update message and updated via zune. Zune always shows version 7.1, is this OK?
Should i revert to NODO and update again via zune?
Or i'm done?
I have an open/unlocked OMNIA7.

I was on 7712 beta and updated through Zune to official 7720.
Before update I was unlocked and I stayed unlocked after the update.
I was on the leaked RTM and got the HTC Update for my Arrive. The only thing that worries me even though this looks like a fully Sprint branded update (as seen from the new support stuff in the About screen) is that it did nothing to remove the "provision" part of the update as talked about in the Windows Phone Blog for updating from 7012. If the move to RTM from 7012 fixed it already, then I am not worries, but if so, us early RTM adopters may just have to jump back to NoDo (since I didn't force an update before going leaked RTM) and get the official updates through that method.
One thing I did notice is I did get various little updates this summer while on the Mango Beta, so device specific updates may have already been done or no others may have been released for the Arrive till today. Hmm.
I just wish they would get the MyPhone ability to backup SMS messages so I can do a clean wipe and not loose every convo I have had (not important generally, but I like to keep them around.)

To All,
The LG, Samsung, and HTC Updates are just firmware updates.. Those aren't the cleanup updates or the Official Mango updates.
I've actually received the Samsung Update whenever I updated to 7720 leaked a month and a half ago. All it did was update the firmware and give me a new diagnosis app.

Nah, I got the HTC Arrive from SPRINT... had the 7712 DEV PREVIEW and when RTM was leaked I jumped into it... So I have been on 7720.68 all along... I still received an update via Zune but it was an HTC DEVICE update... no actual MICROSOFT update...

I received a samsung firmware update straight after going to rtm, and just now I got another firmware update, but unfortunately it does not do much. My camera button is now disabled for quicklaunch (even though the setting is on :S) also the AllShare app still does not work.
I do think Ill have to flash back since zune now says up to date.
Guys, I'm on Telus with unbranded Optimus 7 phone running on RTM mango. I also got the update a few minutes ago by going into Zune and checking for updates. But this is not the mango update. But, all is not loos, this a was a pretty good firmware update. You see, I had installed the mango compass app a couple weeks ago and it was not working on my Optimus 7. After verifying all the forums, the necessary drivers were not on my ROM or any other ROM for that matter of fact. After the update, guess what? My compass application works great! I would assume that this update, updates all necessary drivers for Mango API's compatibility.
Now what I'm wondering is since I now have an Optimus "compatible" mango... Should I still try to get the latest Mango build being deployed today? Will I get hidden Wifi? Will I get WIFI hotspot?
Regards!

Flash back to 7712 do the 7720 update through zune.. See if you get the cleanup tool. If you get that Cleanup tool, use fiddler and get the update cabs and post the links.

I didn't get an update after updating to the RTM leak, but I did get one today. Hidden Wifi is there now, Camera focus is working now in Bing Vision, and the Camera Button still works.
AllShare and AdvancedTextMessage from Samsung still don't work.

Oke than I assume the update is just to the final mango and allshare is just not supported on Omnia7??
Camera thing is weird I changed the settings but seems to not do anything. Where can I test hidden WIFI?
EDIT:
hidden WiFi is there indeed. Camera button still works, it just takes 2 times as long and I am inpatient apparantly seems like the real deal, full mango...

Turn on WiFi then click advanced, you should have a + button to Add at the bottom now.
