Okay so my G2 takes about 13 hours to fully charge to 100% and then when I unplug the charger the phone reboots and when it turns back on the battery level says 0% and the phone dies. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Do I just need a new battery?
I don't know if you need a new battery or not but this definitely isn't normal. Is your device new or have you had it for some time now?
One thread is enough for the same question.

with the phone left switched on i put it on charge last night at around 10.30pm
got up at 5.15 this morning to see the green light on
when i went in to battery info to check it said the following
full charged at 00.50monday 06 july
stand by time 4 hrs 15 mins
device usage 13 mins
how can this be
i was in bed so didnt use the device
and why is it saying fully charged at 00.50
with the charger still in and power switched on does this mean it does not take any charge once the light is green
hoping this may solve my battery problem as im on my 2nd TP2 and the battery lasted less than 18 hrs use yeaterday with about 15 mins of use
thanks for any help

k first of all, it's not a good idea to charge it overnight like that. take it from me, when I first got my Tilt (which was my first phone that used a Li-ion battery) I would charge it overnight all the time so that I would have 100% in the morning. but I noticed that the overall battery life slowly began to decrease the more I charged it till the status light was green. I ended up going the warranty path and had a brand new one sent to me, and ever since then I've monitored my charging, making sure that it didn't charge to the full 100%, and it's been fine.
It could also have been that specific battery. I always charge my phone overnight, and nothing goes wrong.
So, I bought another battery. Will this sort it?
Also, what's the usual procedure?
Should I charge the battery to full in the phone (turned off) then boot, set up, then charge again and reset battery stats?
The problem is that the battery control chip doesn't take into account that the battery ages.
Resetting battery stats or charging while turned off will only clear the stats you see in the settings menu. This guide will make your battery drain to 0% again: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1534892
I don't know what a new battery will do though.
I gathered that, but as the phone is going to a new user (my stepson) we got him a new battery anyway
I just wondered what the correct procedure is. I know you need to do a first charge with a new battery, as with a new phone, however, this phone obviously has a working ROM already on it.
So, the phone is charging now, switched off. Should I turn it on, use a little, then use the battery calibration app to delete the stats and then drain to 0%?

Well, that assumption is probably inherited from the NiHM batteries in the past, because it's not needed with Li-Ion batteries. In fact charging to 80% is better than charging to 100% and keeping it plugged in.
You can read more about it here and here.

Just charge it and use it for a full cycle. If it shuts down at 15%, you can try the battery calibration from the thread I mentioned above. If it doesn't, you're battery capacity is the same as the one the battery chip has calculated, which is good.
So, why does the first charge take so long?
This thing is still charging and it's been on the charger for 3 hours, whereas usually it'd be charged fully by now.
Been like that for every Li-Ion battery I've ever had (including my S3, took around 6 hours to charge, usually takes 3).
EDIT:
Just to clarify, I don't intend on leaving it past the green light. As soon as it says it's full I'll be taking it off charge and not trying ot overcharge it. But I still have the orange charging light after 3-4 hours.
To be honest, I don't know. Maybe it's a safety to prevent overcharging. Coincidentally, I've got exactly the same issue now. I asked about it in the calibration thread. I suppose it's normal, but I'm not sure about that.

Sent from my HTC Desire
hello guys. just a question that keeps running through my mind.
when i opened the box, i saw a card that says before using the phone, charge at least 30 mins.
after buying the phone, i tested it, checked if there are any damages and do the service test. i didn't follow the 30 mins charging.
when my phone is about to be discharged, i just charged it up to 60%. because of time constraints, i didn't managed to charge it fully.
now my question is, will the battery life of my phone be affected? because i discharge too quickly. and its really annoying. if i didn't follow the 30 mins charging, will it decrease the battery life of my phone?
sorry guys, im just a bit paranoid.
thanks for any help. :good:
Do not worry at all. Nothing wrong will happen with your battery. To attain the maximum output from the battery you need to wait at least 7-10 days and charge the battery to full cycle for couple of times.
Battery back up will increase the more you charge the battery. So don't worry.
just hitted the thanks button buddy. so, i must charge my phone up to 100% for 7-10 days to achieve its capacity?
so i must not worry at all. thanks buddy.
Before using it regularly it's better to charge it to 100%. And about 7-10 days that i said because, the battery needs to complete few charge cycle to attain the full capacity.
Hi, I picked up my phone from repair shop a week ago and since then when my battery goes below 55% i get message that battery is 0% and phone is shutting down, and then I put it on charger and sometimes it starts recharging from 1% but sometimes from 55% and if i charge it to 60% it works normally, but when i charge it to 100% it turns off on 55%, can someone help me please is it problem in software or maybe it is problem in battery?

It sounds very much like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/son...ttery-reporting-phone-dying-suddenly-t3095120
I replaced the battery and it's been working well for a few months now.
Battery drop from 50 % to 0 %
I had the same issue.
After force shut down (power + vol-up for 10 sec), the battery went back to normal.

EDIT :
That was a short lifesaver, battery is "fubar".
Guys , maybe there's something wrong with the battery charging in Amami . I have two Z1C, one of which normally charge up to 100 %. But the other charges the battery to 100% only in Stock 4.4.4 ... In all versions of Lollipop (stock or not) battery charges to 82% ... Calibration of the battery does not help. I replaced the battery - no change. I tried another powerful charger by Samsung - without effect. Anybody have an idea what's going on ?
The phone suddenly stuck at boot screen and was not able to load the system. whenever it loads the system it crashes BUT this issue was over when it was plugged into the charger.. the phone worked fine and battery is 52%.
I charged it fully 100% and wait an hour more and i calibrated it.. but once i removed the charger plug .. 1 min and the phone turned off and started bootlooping not able to boot the system without being plugged to charger.
so i bought a new battery... this battery also made the phone turn off at about 30% " without any warning of low battery" and not boot saying it is 0% and i put it on charge and charge it up to 100 and again stops around 40%/ this battery charges fast tho. according to the % displayed.
I m now going to charge the battery for 4 hours as I read since it is new, it should be charged for 4 hours.
Am i having problem due to battery or the phone is not estimating right the full charge of the battery or the phone have something corrupted or also the new battery is bad?
