[Q] Flashing CM 7.0 RC1 - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am currently running CM 6.1.0 and I am interested in flashing CM 7.0. RC1. I wanted to find out the following:
1) What Kernel is working best for CM 7.0 RC1?
2) Do I need to upgrade to CWM 3.0.05 or Can I stay on 2.5.1.2?
3) Any major issues with CM 7.0 RC1 other than those mentioned by Slahyer?
4) What is your experience with CM 7.0 RC1? Good or Bad
5) Do I need to partition my SD Card for SD-Ext? If so, what are the benefits and what values should I use for SD-Ext and Swap? I have a 32gb Class 2 Sandisk Card.
Thanks in advance.

1. I use - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=938790 . But just like roms, its all about preference and how YOU feel the rom is with the kernel you are using.
2. I flashed CM7 using 2.5.1.2 with no problems.
3. Other then a random reboot (not often, once every 2 days possibly in my experience) everything has been working great for me.
4. Good
5. No you don't have to, but you can if you choose to. I don't so I can't help with exactly what the pros/cons are of this.

As for me...
1. I'm using the one that comes included (nothing seems to be broken with that one) and for it's fast and gets good battery life so far
2. 2.5.1.2 is great
3. Haven't seen any
4. Great (and this is coming from someone who bought this phone mostly for HTC Sense)
5.I don't do this.

Is flashing CM 7 through ROM manager the best way to install?

Have you checked the cm7 thread in android development section? Most of you answers can be found in the op of that thread and the cm7 RC 1.5 thread.

[Q] Best rom? Revolution 2.0.8 vs CM6 vs CM7

As title says..what do you think is the best ROM? and why? I have finally rooted the DHD and I want to try something new
Pls suggests me
thanks in advance for the answers
Can't really comment on Android revolution as I have never used it, don't like sense and hadn't realised there was a no sense option.
Cm 6 is great and the latest release is very stable, but...
Cm 7 brings gingerbread I have had no stability issues, and have been running it since the builds where unofficially compiled from source, current nightly builds are great.
But everyone has different needs / likes, I have been a CM fan since I first installed it on my HTC Magic and it suits me, give Android revolution a go and see what you think you've nothing to lose except your time
yea you can't compare those roms
sense vs. clean 2.2 vs. clean 2.3
depending on what u prefer
some like sense, some like a full stable 2.2, some like to play test person and use 2.3 nightly
I used PNK22 for my day to day rom. For a time had no real problems with it other then no camara yet, this was and still is the only reason i am not using it today..

just a question..there's update manager or something like this in the CM7?
I mean, if I install build 18 then build 19 is released how can I upgrade?
download it from thread and flash or use rom manager (the paid version) to get notified and download it on your mobile + update

by simply installing the zip, you dont need to wipe anything as long as only a small amount has changed. Using rom manager or rebooting into recovery and installing zip with that will work.
but, if there is a large change you will need to wipe data etc. Just make sure you dont wipe your sd card
can someone give me a link to the "stable" version of cm7? the development forum is a bit confusing cause there are too many links of CM7 and I can't understand the one you are talking about
h t t p ://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=ace
There is not yet a stable ROM of CM7 for Desire HD.
I'm running Nightly Build #14 smoothly.

i loved CM7, but i also liked the integration with sense so i went with revolution, but i prefer the gingerbread keyboard
I'm currently running Android Revolution 2.0.8 with a few customisations of my own and I love it. That said I can't use a ROM which doesn't have Sense UI.
If I could put up with not having the additions that Sense UI adds to a ROM, I'd probably be using a CM7 nightly.
It's Revolution 2.0.9 now (fast developer ), but I find this best for my needs personally. It's all about individuality, so try each one you like the look of and stick with the one that works best for you.

[Q] Which ROM?

Hi all, I have HTC desire and I am constantly running out of internal memory I am going to root the phone to solve this. I am a complete noob to this so which custom ROM would be easy to install and stable out of the following Cyanogenmod7, LeeDroid 3.0.5 or MIUI ROM, Thanks
Id try the cyanogenmod or miui.
Cyanogenmod 7 or Gingervillain plus CMHBOOT(from alpharev.nl) can solve your problem I think
Thanks for replies jroc716 & plohoi. I will have closer lock at the ROMS ye have recommended
all these rom's r running fast and stable. internal-memory problems had gone by integrating ext-partition(s). so which rom u take is just a matter of ur personal favors.
I have had look at the ROMS suggested in this tread and I am going to flash MIUI Rom by xavierjohn22 but not sure which version is most stable. Should I flash the froyo version (2.2) or 2.3.4 gingerbread (latest version) or 2.3 gingerbread. . I be grateful for any help on this, thanks
1st of all you better obtain an SD Card at least Class4 then follow the guide with the link I will give below. This will help you move your applications to SD and have more space.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
And as a ROM Choice, better use InsertCoin
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016940
Thanks alpivelopx for the reply. Ya I have class 4 SD card and I have carefully studied the noob proof guide just can’t make up my mind on which rom to flash.
I likr the look of MIUI have any experience using this rom? Which version is most stable?
I have had a look at InsertCoin and having the new Sense would be cool.
I use google maps a lot and assume this bug “compass doesn't always point north” will be a problem. Is there a stable Froyo version?

At first: One cannot say, which is the best rom. It's a personal feeling. You should read the posts where the authors describe there themes and then you should decide. If you cannot, just try one. If you like it, stay with it.
I think you should install the latest version of MIUI. It's usually the most stable version.
I cannot find a (stable) Froyo version of Insertcoin. Maybe ask the author (baadnewz) if he can upload it for you.
Thanks Matdroid, I think your right. I'll try a few roms and decide which is best for me.
I can recommend Leedroid 2.4.1.
A very good and stable Sense rom with A2SD+!
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Like others have said... it's more of a personal opinion with ROMs as to their speed and usefulness but if you can get by with the compass issue until it gets resolved (hopefully shouldn't be too long as devs are working like crazy at porting sense 2.1/3.0 to desire) I warmly recommend InsertCoin.
The chef is pushing updates like there's no tomorrow an also makes time to answer people's questions (how he manages it I don't know...) and also you have all the info you need in the first 2 post of the thread.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016940
PS: regarding speed, keep in mind that benchmark apps (Quadrant) don't tell the full tale. Try the ROMs for yourself.
I second leedroid 2.4.1..... fast and stable with a2sd+. I wouldn't bother with gingerbread yet still a bit buggy
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
+1 on leedroid 2.4.1
My first not-htc-rom was leedroid v.3.0.5. It was nice. But since a while i use redux v1.2. I like it much more than leedroid, although you have to readjust a little to use a non-sense-rom.
The best froyo sense rom is the InsertCoinHD 2.0.1 Data2Ext.
The best gingerbread rom is InsertCoin v25 CM7.
Keep in mind that Cynogenmod and Miui don't include Htc Sense on it.
I've been using on Leedroid (froyo) for sometime and it was great and stable.
I'm running now Insertcoin v25 (gingerbread) and it's also great. I got 2 issues that I can live with - the compass issue (not pointing north) and the camera makes my phone boot itself sometimes. but other than that it's great.
Both roms have a2sd+, and if you want something stable than I recommend Leedroid 2.4.1. After some time you can get gingerbread roms based on the official release from htc (something like mid-june or a bit later)
Hi
Hmm running out of internal Space *gg*
I Recommend you use InsertCoin, or an ROM Which fits on CM Hboot, Here is the System Partition smaller, difference space is added to userdata, so "more internal" Memory for you.
Pls. Think if you change your SD Card, or crash of it, your OS Cant booting because 1/3 of our System is stored on it. (sdext)
S-Off required.
If you don´t want to manipulate hboot (afraid of crashing bootloader), use any App2SD Rom.
I have many Problems with DATA2SD and DATA2Whatever Scripts.
App2SD is very good.
*I User Insertcoin GS_V26* and i´m happy with it.
Baadnewz is providing these Rom with STock or CM Hboot.
Just Look at a few Roms, (Download 2-3 Roms and test it) an fix install it, which you mostly like. ))

@MindVision1Thanks for the reply. I am right in saying the Hboot resizes the internal memory to allocate different amount of space to the system. You can get different hboot's from http://alpharev.nl/ so I am right in saying the cm hboot you recommend is the Bravo CM7 on alpharev site.
So If I go with the CM Hboot I have to get a custom rom that fits the 130MB system memory and will also have 300MB free for apps on the internal memory.
If some of the rom is on the sd card and I remove it or it gets damaged I will have a major problem?
How do you know what size a ROM is?

[Q] Various Desire GSM Rooting and ROM Questions

Hey Guys
So basically here is the deal..
My brother has a very old HTC Desire GSM and now out of warranty.. runs like an elephant.. never rooted.. I am going to be meeting him in few weeks and want to root his phone and put a custom ROM so that his experience increases..
Now he is not a techie, so will take whatever I give him.. I have rooted other phones before.. so not my first time.. but first for this model..
Now my questions are
1) Anything I need to check on Desire for root ability ? I can instruct him over net to check it
2) I guess first step will be to root it.. best to use unrevoked?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044
3) Then put a custom recovery.. this one best? Clockworkmod recovery?
http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-bravo.img
OR touch recovery???
http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.0.2-bravo.img
Or any other one??
4) Now the ROM -- I normally use Cyanogenmod in phones.. Is that still the best for this .. My main concern is that all hardware should be working and stable.. So which is most recommended?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809328
CM: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get.../archive/update-cm-7.2.0-RC3-bravo-signed.zip
Leedroid: http://leedroid.ftp.rshost.eu/Bravo-ROMs/LeeDrOiD_HD_V3.3.3_GB-Port-R5-A2SD.zip OR data edition???? differene??
Any other?? :
Not listing ICS roms as I guess many hardware issues can still be there..
What I am looking for is that he can use app2sd so that he can store apps on SD and save internal memory and is fast , nice, stable and good free memory for the gimmicks
5) Put googleapps package..
Also
1) Any custom kernel / radio needed??
2) What are the steps require to combine all the above??
3) Anything else I am missing for the device
Any help will be great!!!
Cheers
Erm uv kinda got it. CM or oxygen would be your best bet for a rom. Personaly imo i think 4eXT Recovery is the best.
Sent from my HTC Desire
If you want the Sense flavor go with Supernova rom its the original gingerbread update plus the space. Aosp, it would be oxygen or cm7. Oxygen has a built in Apps2sd in it you only need to make a partition on the sd card. I suggest S2E app on the market for apps2sd on CM7.
If running on CM7, you can check ManU kernel. Oxygen use their own kernel so you can use others without breaking functionality.
Get the latest Oxygen rom at http://oxygen.im
If you are going for CM7 or Oxygen I would also recommend to S-off using Alpharev or Revolutionary (what to use will depend on the hboot version) so that you can flash an hboot with custom partition to give you more space. Check the troubleshooting guide on my sig to get an overview. Good luck.

I think this kind of rules CM out.
Best bet to stick with Sense 1.9 roms made for Desire. That way you won't break his routine and he'll reap the benefits of having increased space, battfix if you do it for him, LS tweak etc.
So this one is recommended? Supernova Xtreme?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045824
Or Oxygen 2.3.2 ??
http://download.oxygen.im/roms/update-oxygen-2.3.2-Bravo-signed.zip
Going with higher sense ROM's any better or recommended?? or no point??
and 4EXT Recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1408936
Basically looking for a ROM which can make him feel his phone like brand new, make it fast and enough internal memory, save stuff on App2SD (or Data2SD perhaps??)
So in essence. do the following??
1) Root via unrevoked (will check his HBOOT version and post here soon for recommendation) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044
2) install 4EXT recovery : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1408936
3) Install ROM which is either CM7.1 / Supernova Xtreme / Oxygen 2.3.2 ? (please recommend best)
If I choose the above way. do I need to do anything additional like (prefer none if no benefit)
a) kernel update???
b) install seperate app like app2sd or data2sd and configure (would prefer not, would like it inbuilt in the ROM for ease)
c) radio update???
Help me make final decision
Cheers..
Radio update might be necessary. Look at cronmod ROM thread, in desire development. It has direct link to newest radio in the first post. When you're there you can check out the ROM. I like it.
For a tech noob I'd also recommend supernova. Stock kernel is sufficient. I don't remember if you need partitioning, but it says on supernova homepage under instructions. Be sure to follow them.

[Q] Which CM is best for Wildfire S ??

I have had rooted my device, Now i just want to select CM. which CM is more stable on wildfire S Cm 9.1 or Cm 10 ?
And if i partition the card with ROM manager app ,is it safe will it delete my data from the card ?
I haven't tried any other CM but CM10, so I cannot tell you wether it's more stable than CM7 or CM9, but I can tell you that it is fully satisfying! It's smoother thand the original sense 2.5 rom on your WFS and most problems that occured with CM10 are solved or are being solved thanks to the devs... So I would go for the latest CM, which is CM10...
I tested modpunk's CM10 Alpha 2 and ParanoidAndroid 2.54 JB and Jelly King 1.2 and I have to say that Jelly King is probably the best Rom I have ever used! Go for it!

Since buying my wfs I stayed on stock only for a little bit. So for over a year I've been using various cm and cm- based roms.
Right now I've found cm10 builds to be somewhat snappier. Cm9 based roms a little more stable imho. (Still, the most stable for me have been cm7 based roms.)
To your second question now, if you're going to be partitioning your SD, do take the time to backup first, definitely.

What ROM are you using?

Hi, I am currently on CM12.1 and I find it laggy on my Note 2. I wanted to make a poll (but I couldn't since I can't enumerate all the roms that are in here) and ask what rom are you using or what rom do you prefer and why? I am leaning toward DN4 but i've been reading that DN3 is more stable.
Thank you guys!
Honestly, I have not seen any lag issues on CM 12.1. What nightly/build are you running? I doubt the lag is coming from the ROM itself.

Well, first make a complete backup using TWRP. Then, do a factory reset (wipe data, system, dalvik, cache), then flash the latest nightly from here: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=t0lte, and flash the latest gapps from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/tk-gapps-t3116347. (I personally use tk gapps).
Note that this process will wipe your internal storage, so make sure you've backed up anything you want to keep.
Im using Cm12 and it works fine for me didnt have any bugs or lagging so far
